This place was the hidden gem of our dreams! We weren't sure what to expect because we were planning our wedding from Colorado way before we moved to San Diego and were only going off of their website and the knot. We did a virtual tour with Alan and even through that we knew this was the venue for us.
We toured the space a few months after when we were in town and we were so happy we booked FruitCraft! The major things that won us over was how beautiful the space was, friendly staff, good food and drinks at the tour and prompt responses from Alan. We are HUGE cocktail fans and fell in love with their unique cocktails especially the old fashioned and mule. As a distillery, FruitCraft makes their own cocktails/drinks which was such a fun addition to our day. Our family and friends are still raving about the drinks after the wedding! We wanted a place that we could just show up and enjoy the day and FruitCraft did just that for us! Their staff took care of everything and we couldn't be more grateful + it was such a good value! Anna was our coordinator and she handled our vendors through FruitCraft and made sure everything flowed smoothly for us throughout the night. She even took care of our family throughout the night which was such a special touch and allowed us to truly relax and enjoy our day! The bar and catering staff were also amazing to us! Thanks for making the start of our forever so special, we can’t wait to visit when its open as a tasting room in the future -

We absolutely adore FruitCraft! It is truly a one-of-a-kind place that gave us all the feels on our wedding day! It's the perfect mesh of modern, minimalist, and plant vibes. Anna is an incredibly sweet soul, and you can see all the thoughtfulness she put into our big day - from calming my nerves before walking down the aisle to keeping up with our families throughout the night - she was key in keeping our day together for us.
The additions of the vendors- bar ( their house distilled cocktails are AMAZING!), catering - the chicken & steak skewers were delish!, dj- had us on the dance floor all night!, florals- so beautiful!- made it exactly what we wanted for our stress free wedding day! Our guests still tell us what a great time they had and it wouldn't be possible without FruitCraft’s team! -

This place had it all and fulfilled all my dreams of boho wedding with tons of greenery. Anna and Alan were wonderful to work with. The food was amazing and they made everything so easy. Would totally recommend this venue! -

To keep things short, we booked FruitCraft for June 2020 but had to postpone to June 2021. The moment we decided to postpone I contacted FruitCraft first to secure a new date. Alan quickly responded with multiple options to choose from. We were able to choose a new date right away and that immediately helped lessen the stress for us.
On the months leading up to the wedding, we were in contact with the manager, Anna. I mostly communicated my questions through email, but if I wanted a quicker response it was easy to set-up a phone call with her through her personal calendar. Anna did a great job going over logistics with me and providing detailed answers to all my questions.
In conclusion, communication with Alan and Anna was good and they were very easy to talk to and get a hold of.
Now the venue itself is really beautiful and is definitely worth visiting if you’re about that #plantlife! I’m really into gardening so I already knew this place was a contender. On the day of, our guests kept complimenting the venue space and asking how we found it. The wooden tables really compliment their wall and plant décor too. Seeing the floor plan on paper vs. in person was pretty amazing to me, it was even more beautiful than I could’ve imagined. I really love how they utilized the space and made it unique to our wedding.
However, I suggest you consider hiring a day-of-coordinator if you book this venue. Anna does a great job with logistics but the coordinator is needed to really help tie everything together! Overall, FruitCraft is a modern, intimate venue that will definitely impress your guests! :) -

From the very beginning, the staff at FruitCraft were so welcoming and helpful. My husband and I were looking for somewhere that would take care of everything for us, for a reasonable price. We didn’t care about the nitty gritty details, we just wanted somewhere beautiful and charming where we could celebrate with our family and friends. FruitCraft was the perfect place. We had our ceremony in the morning in their outdoor event space, and the reception in their newly renovated venue area. Anna made sure that both areas were perfectly set up for us and our guests, and the whole place was just beautiful and we didn’t have to bring any decorations at all! The entire venue is filled with plants and lots of natural lighting, the drinks were delicious and refreshing, and the guests (and ourselves!) really enjoyed the taco bar. All of our pictures (both iPhone and professional pictures) turned out SO good with all the natural lighting, and it seemed like every corner of FruitCraft acted as a perfect backdrop. We wanted a string quartet to play at our ceremony, and FruitCraft was very accommodating and made sure they had their own space that worked well with the flow of the ceremony. We were also able to make our own playlist and plug in our computer into their built-in PA system for music throughout the reception. They provided microphones, a projector, set up/clean up, and everything we needed for our big day. Our wedding was the last wedding they had before the whole world shut down, and I really hope other couples can experience a perfect wedding day with FruitCraft when life goes back to normal! -

I've been meaning to write this review for a while. We were planning on having a September wedding here and booked almost a year ago. The owner was extremely responsive at this time and we were so excited about having our wedding here, as the location is beautiful and the were undergoing several projects to make it even more beautiful. Around December we scheduled time to meet with him and taste the food. When we got there, there was not anything for us to try and we were in and out in about 10 minutes tops. We felt really rushed and as if the owner had other places to be - we left feeling a little uneasy about that and honestly, pretty bummed. Fast forward a few months and COVID closures began happening. We reached out to all of our vendors to see what our options were, as it was becoming likely that we would have to adjust our original plans. The owner did not come across as very understanding which was not something we can say about any other vendors we reached out to. This is such an unprecedented time and no one could have seen any of this coming. The owner outlined options for the wedding 1) Leave it as is and see if we can have the wedding as planned 2) Reschedule but pay in full as if the wedding was still happening in September 3) Cancel the wedding and lose the deposit and any other funds paid 4) Reschedule and move the payment schedule with an added $750 rescheduling fee. Aside from the cancellation option, these were not options outlined to use when we signed our contract. He was unwilling to work with us and honestly, it felt like he was profiting off a pandemic. We understand that it is a business and that it's tough for everyone right now but the way things were handled made us feel very uncomfortable moving forward with having our wedding at FruitCraft. We highly recommend giving things a second thought before booking this venue. -

While our actual wedding day was beautiful and the food was great, there were MANY issues and concerns I had leading up and on the wedding day.
The four emails I sent with questions took at minimum a 72+ hour response turnaround time. Anna, the venue coordinator, was curt via email and unwilling to compromise with my wedding planner, our mariachi band or our DJ.
We were allotted 60 minutes of setup time, which according to wedding standards is unusually short. When my planner arrived, Anna denied her access to drop off items while they parked. Requesting to enter 15 minutes earlier, we were told would be a $500 addition, albeit the venue being empty as our was the only event on that day.
Any inquiry or request was met with a rude response from Anna.
We had a mariachi band for the cocktail hour- from 6-7pm. Anna wouldn’t allow the band outdoors to play for our recession, and refused to open the garage door to add additional air flow. Her reasoning for this was a noise ordinance, however San Diego’s noise ordinance begins at 10pm and in Hillcrest there is plenty of music to be heard outdoors.
We had tequila favors which were near the exit and meant to be taken as guests left. Anna removed them, without notice, and began dumping out favors she deemed as ‘opened’. When asked about it, she lied to my face and claimed “ I don’t have time for that”. Anna’s decision to move the favors so guest wouldn’t consume them during the reception was fine. However, this was expensive tequila and the disposal of the bottles was uncalled for and the lying indefensible.
As I said the venue is gorgeous, there’s no question about that. However Anna’s professionalism, demeanor, communication, and customer service were severely lacking. Working with Anna was largely disappointing and frustrating. Considering she is the only point person to work with, this was a huge downfall of our wedding experience.
