Great experience

We hired From Scratch catering for our wedding at The Treasury. We were lucky to have to opportunity to attend 2 tastings with From Scratch, one plated and one buffet as we were planning on a family style dinner service. We never had a single bad item at either tasting. They were extremely flexible in letting us choose from both their plated and buffet menus to make a perfect family style combination for us.
The appetizers they had were creative and delicious and were honestly some of my favorite choices we made. They made sure to have plenty of apps waiting at the head table as my husband and I were busy with photos our whole cocktail hour and I was so grateful for that!
Day of the dinner service went smoothly and the staff took special attention to make sure my husband and I had time to eat between greeting guests. Everyone raved about how amazing the food was, especially the beef. Actually, the first text I received the morning after our wedding was from one of my bridesmaids who said “I will dream of that mac and cheese for the rest of my life.”
From Scratch’s close relationship with The Treasury made our day so seamless and I’m so grateful for an amazing food experience as I know food can make or break a wedding experience.

Wonderful Catering Experience!

The catering team was very professional and helpful throughout the entire event planning process. They offered suggestions for food, beverages, set up, and other thoughtful ideas that were outside of the expected scope. The food was so delicious! We have had so many attendees from our wedding event tell us that the food was some of the best they ever had at a wedding. I host a lot of events and was pleasantly surprised at how much this catering team far exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Scratch Catering for any catered event you may have!

Best staff ever!

Let’s just say, if I ever got married again, I would hire From Scratch Catering all over again! We worked closely with Jenna, who tailored everything so perfectly to us! Not a single need was missed. I was able to thank the entire staff, who are incredibly kind. The pricing is exactly what you get, actually, it’s more! We paid our price, but they still went above and beyond to match everything to our event. I don’t know what I would have done without them! I truly can’t see myself recommending any other company besides them. Also, best wedding food I have ever tasted, and I’ve been to a lot of weddings! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your excellent service!

From Scratch Will Not Dissapoint!

I am so thankful that we chose From Scratch Catering/Batch 154 for our caterer. We got married on October 3rd at The Treasury Ballroom and From Scratch/Batch 154 went above and beyond. Chef Kyle took the time to help us create a unique menu and even created a few custom items that were not illustrated on the menu. Not only was the food delicious, but the display was beautiful. We have a beautiful charcuterie display, and they added greenery and flowers to make it pop. We also chose to add their ice cream last minute, and I highly recommend to ADD THE ICE CREAM! My family is still talking about the huge topping bar and the variety of flavors. I had guests that were gluten free and dairy free and they had options for everyone. Overall, we are happy that we chose this vendor for our special day.

Great Food

We hired From Scratch Catering for our wedding and we couldn't be happier. Having attended many weddings myself in the past two years, the food was an important factor for us. The food was better than expected and the best "wedding" food we have ever tasted. Our guests are still talking about the presentation and just how good EVERYTHING was. We are happy that we chose From Scratch Catering.

Highly recommend!

We had a great experience with From Scratch! Jenna was wonderful to work with and the whole time was super accommodating to our needs. When everything was coming together at the finish line, we had several last minute requests and Jenna was available for calls/texts and made sure everything played out as we wanted. We received nice feedback from our guests that everything was delicious too! Overall super thankful to have had From Scratch as part of our day.

Perfectly Splendid!

Delicious Food and Seamless Service!

From Scratch Catering and Event Planning made our wedding day absolutely perfect! Their planning and coordination were incredible – I didn't have to worry about a single thing on the day of, which made for a completely stress-free experience. My husband and I were able to attend two of their tastings, and we left each one feeling confident in our menu choices. And we were right to be confident! So many of our guests have raved about how amazing the meal was. We would absolutely book From Scratch Catering and Event Planning for any future catering event and highly recommend them to anyone looking for delicious food and seamless service!

Spectacular service!

I cannot stress enough how wonderful this catering service was. From the moment we spoke with them, they sent us any information we would need. We easily looked through all of our options and decided on a rough draft of a menu. We picked out a tasting date that had a majority of the foods we were interested in and when we went to the tasting it was absolutely too good to be true! They even sent us home with boxes and boxes of leftovers! Many people would say “people don’t go to weddings for the food, nor will they remember it” but i can promise you it still is one of our biggest compliments we’ve received from pretty much every guest who attended! I would highly recommend from scratch over and over again to anyone looking for a caterer!

From Scratch provided amazing service and delicious food for my wedding. Kristina is so professional, responsive, and great to work with. Amazing company with great food!

From Scratch Catering gave exactly what we could have asked for on our wedding day. We booked them immediately after our first tasting with them because the food was so good! The food was prepared perfectly for our special day and was the talk of the night about how good dinner was. We unfortunately ran into circumstances where we had to reschedule our wedding 2 weeks out from it and From Scratch was very accommodating and helpful when we decided on our rescheduled date. We have nothing but good things to say about from scratch! A special thank you to Kristina for helping us along the way through all the bumps in the road we ran into and for making our wedding that much more special when the day finally came!

Amazing food

We hired from scratch catering for our wedding at Odins owl. We had two tastings and all the food was amazing, it was very hard to decide what we wanted because we wanted it all! We got so many compliments from our guests and lots of people went back for seconds. The staff is amazing and very easy to work with. I would highly recommend From Scratch Catering!!

We love From Scratch!!

From Scratch was absolutely incredible to work with!!! We hired them to caterer for our wedding on June 8, 2024. They answered every one of our questions from the get go and were so easy and pleasant to work with. We attended the tasting and everything was so delicious it was hard to choose what to pick. We have gotten so many compliments from our guests that the food was incredible and so much better than other weddings they have gone to. Kristina came to coordinate the food on the day of our wedding and she was so wonderful to work with. I don't have enough good things to say about From Scratch! I would recommend them to everyone!

Absolutely delicious!

Could not be Happier!

I am overly satisfied with the service From Scratch provided for my wedding! The food was absolutely delicious! I had friends and family asking me who catered the wedding the next day because it was so amazing. One of my guests called the company the next day to give great reviews! So many options, it’s hard to pick what you want! I am so glad I picked From Scratch. Cannot think of one negative thing. Also my coordinator Jenna was so helpful and made sure I got all I was asking for!

Wedding Coordinator here! Their sales team is wonderful and responsive. The food is delicious, and presented tastefully. The onsite staff/service is timely, professional, presentable, and personable. Mid Michigan Children's Museum benefit

This is the second year we've had From Scratch Catering serve at our event. The food was incredible, efficient and friendly staff and delivered an eye-catching display. This is a big event for the museum, we host nearly 220 people. The overall feedback was " 5 stars!" From Scratch knows how to prepare and serve delicious food. We will have them back again next year!

Amazing food, top notch staff!

We had From Scratch cater our wedding last weekend and the food and service were both top notch!! We had so many guests tell us how much they enjoyed the food, and from our experience it was even better than the tasting- which was pretty incredible as well! Ryan is great to work with. He has an amazing staff that has everything handled at the blink of an eye. Highly recommend!!!

Simply Outstanding

We hired From Scratch to cater our wedding in June 2023 and it was the absolute best decision. From the first email to the last plate, everything was first class. Ryan and his team met and truly exceeded every expectation. Our wedding was in early June and by the end of wedding season, all of our close friends and family agreed that our food was still the best. Our wedding was about an hour and a half away from the From Scratch normal operating area and you would never have known that they traveled with everything. There was not one single detail missed. Timing was perfect, food was delicious, the drinks flowed, and Ryan was a masterful conductor through it all. We can not thank them enough and would not hesitate to use them in the future. Simply outstanding.

Amazing food, service & presentation

The service was top notch! The food was amazing! We used From Scratch to cater our corporate Holiday party and everyone in attendance raved about the food. The presentation of the food is superb and fancy! Highly recommend for any event!

They catered my daughters outdoor wedding this past weekend

Weather was cold and a little wet, but our guests enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The Scratch employees and owner were extraordinary and the food deserves a ton of praise (while it was all incredible, my favorites were the cornbread and the mashed taters) We did not have much in leftovers, but tons of praise and full bellies with this meal. Thank you, Scratch

I wish there were more than 5 stars! These guys were beyond amazing. We had compliments on the food all night. How often do you go to a wedding and actually like the food? Well it can actually happen! The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The bar staff was amazing! But most importantly the food was awesome and we have so very picky eaters not to mention a lot of food allergies that they accommodated. I honestly cannot sat enough, but planning a wedding and finding the right vendors can be challenging. Let me help and just say BOOK NOW and save yourself the time and stress.

I Dream About The Food

We used From Scratch Catering for our wedding and we could not be happier with our decision. Everything was so delicious and we hear compliments from our guests about how delicious the food was all the time. I still think about how the food daily basis and wish I could just hire them to make me dinner. Might have to throw another event just to have them cater it.

Better wear the big pants

I couldn't find a single flaw if I tried. We used From Scratch Catering for our wedding last weekend. They were absolutely amazing!!! The entire experience from quote to day of went so smoothly. Ryan was such a huge help and made things very easy and carefree. The staff at the wedding were so friendly and prompt. The food was out of this world too!! Highly recommend them for any of your catering needs!!!!

Top notch food!

Married June 18, 2022! The food is INCREDIBLE!!! The service is spectacular. The coordinators are so helpful to make sure all the details are met. The guests gushed over the food and the drinks were mixed to perfection! Everyone was happy!!

Best Wedding Food I’ve Ever Had

I cannot tell you the number of people who came up to us at our wedding that said this was the best wedding food they’d ever had. From Scratch not just delivered on exceptional flavor and options, but their service was impeccable and Ryan was incredibly accommodating of several allergy issues when menu planning. Multiple guests were asking for the caterer’s information after dinner so they could use them in the future. Highly HIGHLY recommend!!

The best wedding food you'll ever have!

If I could give this place more stars than 5, I would. We recently held our wedding ceremony and reception at this venue (4/22/22). There are so many amazing to be said!
We used their catering company, From Scratch Catering. The food was phenomenal and people could not stop talking about it! You will leave satisfied and not needing to stop to eat on your way home. We utilized their buffet option and everything was hot and fresh upon serving. You will not be disappointed!
All in all, if I could do my wedding again, I wouldn't change a single thing.

Best Food & Service Ever at a Wedding

Run, do not walk, to hire From Scratch Catering for your event. They have large scale catering down to some form of witchcraft... seriously. I have been to many weddings and catered events over the years, and the food is so so-This was the best catered food I have ever had in my life- along with all of my guests! People are still going out of their way to compliment the food, and our wedding was 2 months ago. We went the buffet route, and were not disappointed. It's beautifully displayed, hot, and fresh. The tenderloin was some of the best we've ever had. If I had to eat 1 meal for the rest of my life, it'd be my wedding dinner.

Delicious and would DEFINITELY Use again

The food was incredible!!!! Jeff worked with me and my specific tastes! I love food and had a particular vision! I wanted overflowing h’orderves that made a statement, so he designed a 16 foot serpentine table full of charcuterie!
I wanted cevice, and it was plated beautifully, absolutely delicious and passed around along with 3 other passed h’orderves so there was plentiful food and a constant flow!
Some specifics, I cannot personally stand food trays all about the floor, they heard my concern and we had enough servers and expediters to move the food quickly and elegantly.
They handled every special request down to my butter, in which they made it even better and more beautiful than I he imagined.
Our dinner was HOT! Imagine, at a wedding where food is often cold and tasteless! Our steak was soooo TENDER! It should not be classified as “wedding food” as that often has a bad connotation. It was hot, great quality, delicious and plated beautifully!

From Scratch was amazing!

We had our wedding at The Treasury and used From Scratch Catering and we were not disappointed. The food was amazing. Everyone was so easy to work with and so accommodating. We loved their unique appetizer and dinner choices. Our guests still talk about the dinner at the reception months later. We were so happy with From Scratch Catering, we would highly recommend this company to anyone!

We had our perfect day the the Treasury and used their catering service as well. HIGHLY recommend. The food was amazing and our guests still talk about it four months later! They had so many different options to chose from so all of our guests were completely satisfied.

People are still talking about the food at my wedding!

I was thrilled with the experience of working with Jason at From Scratch and the rest of his team. We didn't get to do a tasting and we'd never attended an event catered by From Scratch. My meeting with Jason put my mind at ease that we were in good hands. The whole process was easy including the day of presentation. We had appetizers and a buffet at the reception. Everyone was raving about the food! We also had a few covid cancellations. They packed up all the leftovers and we were well fed the day after the wedding too. I couldn't have asked for better food or a better catering experience. Don't hesitate to work with these caterers for your next event!

Not your typical wedding food

My husband and I used From Scratch Catering for our wedding at The Treasury in June. They were suggested by our venue manager, who we trusted so it was an easy decision! We weren't sure how the food would be since it's made in a truck at the venue, but we were BLOWN AWAY at how amazing the food was! We unfortunately did not get to try our h'orderves since we missed most of cocktail hour, but all of our guests said they were wonderful! When it came to picking our main meal, Jeff worked with us to hand select each item, and build a unique plate. We chose a duet plate for everyone, and he allowed us to pick the sauce used, how it was plated, and even hand selected our veggie option from what was fresh that week! We absolutely cleaned our plates, and so did all of our guests! We had guests telling us the night of our wedding, and even weeks after how AMAZING the food was! If you're looking for delicious, unique food that's not your "typical" wedding food, pick From Scratch! Jeff was amazing and so easy to work with, and the serving staff was so prompt, polite, and professional. Food is such a huge part of a wedding, and From Scratch exceeded our expectations!

Who doesn't love great food?! Thanks for fantastic selections for our wedding day

I had the most spectacular wedding at The Treasury on June 5th, 2021!!!! We used the preferred/in-house caterer, From Scratch Catering. Hayley, Jeff, and their teams provided the best service and support to make our event truly perfect. Jeff was helpful and spent time walking us through all possible options, eventually landing on a great menu. While we weren't thrilled to learn that a maximum 10% increase in costs due to market fluctuations was written in our contract (post-signing it), Jeff and Hayley worked with us and were flexible to make sure everything was accurate and reasonable. COVID threw us for a trip every step along the way, but in all honestly, it worked out very well! Our guests raved about our venue and all our food and drinks. We had a mojito bar which was well received by our guests, plus all other served wine, beer, and cocktails kept the party lively. All the food -- especially the beef tenderloin and passed Korean meatballs -- was prepared and served perfectly and had such great flavor and presentation! (I was busy being the bride and didn't have time to try everything -- too many things to do and people to see! :) ) The mashed potatoes and asparagus were perfect sides for our selections. The attentive and friendly service the day of our event was exactly what we were hoping for, from the servers to the bartenders. What an amazing, unforgettable day.

Delicious and amazing!

Amazing! From Scratch will not disappoint! From the moment we started working with Jeff and Ryan we knew what we were going to get and it was one thing we were not willing to change about our wedding. The food is delicious, you can’t go wrong with any of it. There are so many tasty options and the packages are of great value, giving your guests a variety to choose from. We got so many compliments on the food! With From Scratch you’re not getting the traditional banquet food people say is so so, you’re getting gourmet, home cooked food. Not to mention the staff you are working with is awesome! They truly cater to your needs and are friendly and easy to work with. We couldn’t have gotten through the wedding planning during this time if it wasn’t for Jeff and Ryan being patient and flexible. The only thing my husband wished was that he got a stock of Mac n’ Cheese and potatoes for the next couple weeks!😆 Highly highly recommend!

From the beginning Jeff was helpful and thoughtful. We had a month to replan a wedding and reception. We were so thankful to find From Scratch Catering. We had an exceptional experience with Jeff and his staff. From the first phone call to the very end of our daughters wedding. Not only was the food amazing at the wedding but the entire experience working with From Scratch Catering put us at ease especially when we were approached by so many of our guests complimenting on the food and the service. Best Food Ever!

From Scratch Catering was amazing from quality of service to the food. Jeff and his team are an absolute joy to work with. The staff at From Scratch are pleasant, friendly, and always smiling. Jeff was able to work in our dietary restrictions and made a beautiful vegan meal for just the two of us for our wedding, and offered a huge spread for the fellow meat-lovers. Our guests were so pleased with the food; "not your typical wedding food, that was amazing" I heard numerous times. An unforgettable experience

I recently went to a wedding that was catered by From Scratch Catering. I was refreshed by the amazing assortment of food that was unlike the usually food you see at weddings. I couldn’t get enough of the stuffed mushroom and jalapeño popper appetizers. The main course was beautifully garnished and tasted even better than it looked! I will gladly try to book From Scratch Catering next time I host an event.

Absolutely recommend!

Would 100% recommend Jeff and his team for your catered event. Ours was a wedding in Millington, MI for 205 people. The one thing we absolutely insisted on being perfect for our guests was a delectable meal. Jeff worked with us "from scratch" months earlier to choose a menu of appetizers, exquisite meal of filet and shrimp (with garlic mashed potatoes and tri-colored carrots) and executed everything beautifully. Every steak was cooked medium-rare to perfection and the shrimp was exceptional as well. Our choice of a stationary cheese/cracker/ fruit table along with four butler-passed appetizers made for an amazing cocktail hour. Jeff is the most patient, mild-mannered, business owner you'd ever want to work with. I would absolutely recommend From Scratch to anyone wishing who, like us, wanted their event to have a delectable meal. Jeff and his team know how to execute perfection!

Amazing food and professional staff

From Scratch catered my husband and I's wedding this past weekend. As we went around to thank our guest, everyone raved about how good the food was. People also raved about how good the drinks were. Great selection and taste

We booked our venue at the Treasury and From Scratch Catering is who we chose to use, through the Treasury. It was a seamless, easy process and Jeff and his team made some incredible food. We chose to go with a strolling dinner, which we would highly recommend. It was interactive, and allowed us to have multiple different kind of styles of food. The display was amazing, and more importantly, we received so many compliments from our guests about how good the food was! Staff was plentiful in helping keep food filled and helping to serve to keep the flow going through the stations.

Highly recommend the BBQ pork sliders, macaroni bar and taco truck :)

I was so thankful to find a company willing to cater my outdoor wedding in a somewhat rural and secluded location. Great Caterer

From Scratch Catering is one of my three preferred caterers that cater within my banquet facility. They service about 95% of my weddings and are nothing less than fabulous. Jeff is a third generation caterer that is wonderful to work with, he makes the planning process fun and exciting for all of my bride and grooms. He bases his business on being “customizable” which allows my clients to have a unique experience based on their vision. From Scratch Catering also has a very professional staff that is on top of their service. I truly enjoy working with their Operations Manager Ryan and their two kitchen managers Jordan and Cailin. They contribute to the success of the overall operation and are very talented. Overall, I highly recommend this caterer for any type of function, whether it’s a wedding, corporate event or fundraiser. They will deliver a memorable experience for all.

Great food, great company

Jeff and his staff provided delicious appetizers and dinner for our son’s wedding reception. Jeff was very easy to work with, and his communication was quick and informative. Our venue did not have a liquor license, so being able to also get bar service through From Scratch made things so much easier for us. The only unfortunate thing that happened was that we ran out of prime rib. I’m sure the fact that it was so delicious contributed to that happening. We received many compliments on the food, including one from a family member who said it was the best wedding food he’s ever had. I highly recommend From Scratch Catering & Event Planning!

Jeff Jacobs and his team did a wonderful job catering for our "teacher appreciation day" in a short amount of time. The food was excellent...healthy, creatively displayed and a crowd pleaser. Ordering and delivery was flawless. Very easy business to work with with classy results. This is our second year in a row ordering and we will make this routine in the future!

Look no further for your catering needs! From Scratch catering is the best of the best. I chose From Scratch Catering to cater for a very important executive meeting and not only did he meet our expectations but he exceeded them. Not only did Jeff whip up a full course buffet in less than 24 hours for 20 people but he did it with a smile. The food was phenomenal, the presentation was exquisite, and the service was timely. Another great point is the flexibility in his menus, he can create a meal to accommodate any budget without decreasing quality. Nothing like getting an elbow bump and wink from your boss while waiting in the buffet line to create your plate!

Held a couples shower for our nephew and fiance there this past weekend. Absolutely fantastic! If the wholesome, natural, local sourcing of food was not enough to deserve admiration, the preparation and presentation were absolutely outstanding. The cozy dining area was a very special treat for a small event like ours -- gave us a warm environment to entertain guests. The food was wonderful. . . would definitely recommend these folks to anyone!

Jeff and his team were wonderful to work with. We went to three tastings to try different foods and everything was very good! Nothing tasted like your typical "wedding food" it was definitely what we were looking for! The beef tips and noodles were raved about at the wedding and there was plenty of food for everyone to enjoy!

From scratch was awesome! We were on a super tight timeline with planning our wedding and we were not doing anything traditional and Jeff was extremely accommodating. I made changes to the menu a few times and he was great about it. We did 3 different food stations for our cocktail style reception and everyone was raving about what a cool idea it was and how great the food was! Thanks so much!!

Overall, I would rate From Scratch with 5 stars!! Amazing people and service. Food was spectacular and it was so convenient to have a bar/food package. I originally grew up in Michigan but have lived out of state for the past 6 years. When my husband and I decided to have our wedding in Michigan, to better accommodate our families, I knew that planning everything was going to be a challenge since I would have no taste testings, no face-to-face meetings, and limited communication with the vendor I would book with. I had never heard of any of the companies I began to search, and all of them had the same type of short reviews. While great reviews help, "Excellent", "Very good food", and "Great place to cater from", cannot give you an honest sense of security and trust from a company. From Scratch Catering was the first company I called, and they were so informative that I booked them immediately and never looked elsewhere. They answered every question, no matter how many e-mails I sent, and provided detail after detail of what to expect from them. Their menu was vast and their selections covered the entire spectrum of simple to elegant. I told them the direction and feel that I wished to accomplish from my reception and let them guide my choices to achieve that; it couldn't have turned out more perfect. People still rave about the stuffed chicken, the assorted cucumber hors d oeuvres were devoured, and our only regret was that we couldn't try every item on their menu; it was THAT good! However; as good as their food was, it was their service which they provided on the most important day of my life that really shone through. I am quite convinced that any catering company could provide good food, but I doubt that any other choice on our part would have provided From Scratch's amount of class and professionalism during the event. Everything was beautifully laid out, and the staff ensured the proper flow and assistance with every. single. guest. There is not enough room in this review to be able to express how highly I regard From Scratch Catering. Simply put, you will NOT find a better catering company.

We received so many compliments on the food from our wedding. From Scratch did a phenomenal job and the food was fantastic. We also used them for the full bar service. The fact that they included china, silverware, and linens with the package was a major plus. When they didn't think they would be able to get enough of the beer we originally wanted due to seasonal availability, they called to make sure that another option to add would be okay -- and it was a hit! Jeff was extremely accommodating through the entire process and was easy to work with. We will be using them for every catering need in the future.

We hosted a special meeting at their location in Saginaw. Everyone commented on how amazing the food was! The staff made it very easy to plan the event and the menu selections were great. Better yet - the price made their services an excellent value!

We worked with Jeff of From Scratch for our small backyard wedding and we ordered their picnic menu plus their pesto chicken with basil cream sauce. Everything was great! Especially the brats! Almost everyone said they were the best they'd ever had! Jeff was very responsive, they provided everything we needed and Jeff set everything up for us. Great to work with, great food, and generous portions. Loved everything!

From Scratch was absolutely amazing at our wedding! We wanted a full-service caterer that would accommodate our semi-formal venue – under the tent next to the lake – and we didn’t want to lift a finger. The linens and china made our guests feel as though they were sitting in a country club except the view was better. The full-service bar was top notch and professionally done. The food however stole the show!! Everything looked and tasted incredible. When the prime rib impresses my husband, it’s definitely done right! Days later friends and family were still raving about how fantastic the food was. Jeff and his team are a complete package and made our day even more special. Thank you for making the journey to Lake Lapeer!

From Scratch Catering was recommended to us by a friend- we hired them for our wedding (for about 200 guests). Prior to the wedding they were friendly, professional, and available for any of our questions. Jeff has been in the catering business for a long time and was able to help us plan for many details we wouldn't have thought of on our own. His experience definitely shines through in his work. Jeff and his team provided us with an awesome tasting, from which we chose the majority of our wedding menu.
On the wedding day they were discreet but helpful to our guests. They took care of all food-related tasks, we didn't have to worry about a thing. We got so many compliments from our guests about how amazing the food was. Our wedding was outdoors and they kept the food hot for the entire dinner. The food was flavorful and exactly as we had tasted a few months prior to our wedding. We would hire this wonderful company again for any large event. So grateful for their service on our special day!
