The French Door was the first place I went when I was wedding dress shopping. My consultant was so attentive to what I was looking for in a dress while still having my try different dresses to make sure I knew exactly what I wanted to get married in. She also stuck to my budget. She never pulled a dress that was over budget and even pulled most dresses that were significantly under my budget. They had a HUGE selection of dresses, I don't know how you couldn't find the dress of your dreams there. When the appointment came down to the end, she was not pushy at all. In fact, she urged me to think about which dress I really wanted because she knew how important that decision was. The seamstress at the french door was also amazing. We had three fittings and each time I fell in love with my dress a little more. She spent time with my MOH to teach her how to bustle the dress. They length and fit were perfect! I loved my dress.

My entire experience with the French Door was amazing! I had tried on wedding dresses at two other places and hadn't found exactly what I was looking for in those appointments. They took the time to ask questions and pulled exactly what I was looking for - I ended up purchasing the first dress I tried on!! I had such a great experience with my gown that I brought my bridesmaids back to get their dresses as well. We ended up going with 7 different shades of blue and all different styles of dresses. Leslie was amazing and helped pick all the blues and the girls had a blast choosing their own styles! Jenn in alterations did an amazing job and everything looked flawless!! Couldn't be happier with my experience at The French Door!

Cannot recommend French Door enough. They had the best selection of gowns and in all price points. I was leary of going there as I had heard negative things before but now do not understand how people had a bad experience. Every time I was there, they gals knew who I was and were so sweet to work with. I also had my alterations done there and can tell you, from a lot of experience with dresses and alterations over the years, you will not get the same attention to detail elsewhere. I had at least 4 alteration appointments and they made sure everything looked perfect. You won't be disappointed!

When I arrived for my appointment, my first thoughts were how beautiful the location was. My consultant asked me to describe my dream wedding dress. I told her I was looking for a romantic, strapless dress with an a-line form. She told me that she had a perfect dress in mind for me but we can look around for others. She was very patient with me in looking through other dresses that fit my description but were also in my price range. Then it came time to try on the dresses. I first tried on the dress she had in mind and it was absolutely perfect. I fell in love with the dress and did not want to try on any more. She then helped me find a belt and veil that fit with the style of the dress. I loved my experience and felt so special there.

I had such an amazing experience at the French Door. I went there after an appointment at a different place and they were such polar opposites. The French Door finds out what you would like, walks the bride around to the different designers and pulls dresses as you please, and as they suggest. They have a lot of seating for guests. I just kept saying, 'I feel like a princess!" throughout the entire experience.

The twins (Stacy & Leslie) at the French Door are nothing short of amazing! They know how to help you with literally everything and are great at what they do. They were there to help with all the little things with my wedding dress along with helping all my bridesmaids with their dresses. I would highly recommend both of them to any of my friends!

I was very nervous about wedding dress shopping. The French Door was my first location I went to and I had a great experience there! My attendant was Leslie and she did an amazing job. The whole experience was wonderful, and all the ladies I worked wtih there were very professional. I had read some poor reviews about them online, and it seems that those people had not made appointments or tried to bring in too many people, etc. You do need to set up an appointment here, and it makes it so that when you go, you have great service.

I bought my dress and bridesmaid dresses at the French Door. I thought the service was great. I was worried that the dresses would be too expensive, but all the dresses I tried on were under my budget. There are extra fees for shipping and storage, but I was told about that before I bought my dress, and even with that, I stayed under my budget. I can't speak about the alterations. The only thing I needed to have done was adding a bustle, and all my bridesmaids had their alterations done elsewhere.

Michelle, the store manager, was my consultant and she helped me find the perfect dress for my wedding. She asked me what I liked and she listened to me when I was very specific about likes and dislikes regarding dresses. She does an amazing job helping you finish the look with a veil, jewelry and shoes. She has great ideas that are very helpful. Michelle did such a great job that when my sister got engaged she went to the French Door to Michelle and she helped her find the perfect wedding gown. Thanks to Michelle and the French Door for helping me find the perfect wedding dress and bridesmaid dresses!

I bought my wedding dress, bridesmaid dresses, mother of the bride dress and had my wedding dress alterations done through the French Door. I received excellent service and loved working with Stacey, she was great! She was very attentive and I never felt rushed when looking for dresses. Stacey wasn’t pushy and just wanted to make me feel comfortable and choose the dress I really wanted. She was very friendly and went out of her way to check in when I came in for my various alterations fittings, it felt like she was there if I needed anything and she didn’t just forget about me after the sale. My bridesmaids purchased their dresses through the French Door also and they turned out great! There were only a couple complaints from my bridesmaids: 1) That the French Door encouraged them to purchase their dresses a size larger and then they came back overly big and had to have alterations (but I guess it is easier to have the dress taken in than let out) 2) When one bridesmaid got her dress the zipper didn’t work so she had to have it fixed (she lives out of state) and when she contacted the French Door they said that they couldn’t do anything because it was the designer’s issue. Other than those small issues I was very happy with the service I received at the French Door, it is very nice inside, the people are friendly and make you feel special every time you go in! I love the big mirrors and pedestals they have, it really makes you feel like a princess when trying on dresses =) I recommend ordering early if possible and be aware that everything has an extra charge. There is a shipping charge on the dress and veil, a storage fee if you want alterations and to leave it at the French Door until the wedding and a consultation charge to meet with the seamstress that isn’t credited toward the alterations bill (but you can then meet with the seamstress as many times as you want free of charge). Basically it all starts to add up, but it is a one-stop shop which is very convenient and I felt most comfortable having them do my alterations since I purchased the dress from them and didn’t want to try and find someone else that might ruin it. They do offer discounts for alterations, bridesmaids dress, tuxes and accessories if you buy your dress from them which helps cut down a little bit on the added charges. Katie did a great job on my alterations and the bustle worked out great the day of the wedding. I loved my dress, it fit perfect and I received many, many compliments on it! I’m glad I choose French Door, they were great to work with!

Top notch service. I went to several places in Sioux Falls and they provided the best service. It was everything from the first meeting to my final fitting. Stacey and Leslie always remembered me when I came in (which was a lot!) and they were flexible with me when I needed it. I was especially impressed with Jen who did my alterations. We did this crazy asymmetrical bustle to match the style of my dress and it was perfect. Everyone there was great!

French Door has one of the best selections in Sioux Falls! They are a little more expensive, but well worh it, waiting for a trunk sale, like I did, worked very well for a discount! I worked with Teresa and Megan and they are both great people and were always very nice and accomodating when I went in there. Definitely need to check them out!

The French Door was so helpful! I had found my dress at another location in a different town and since I was living in Sioux Falls I did not want to drive out of town to do alterations, fittings, etc. so the French Door ordered my dress for me and also they gave it to me for less then the other store! The bridemaid's dress that I fell in love with at the French Door was way out of our price range. I had found them online for $150 cheaper and told the French Door so they made a deal with me and sold them to me for the online price. They were a great help in helping me find jewelry and my veil to match my dress!!! They were also very helpful in staying in the price range! They are wonderful people to work with!

When I was wedding dress shopping; it was terrifying to me - I never really enjoyed shopping for dresses for prom or anything of the sort. I'm not really a "girly-girl" like there, never really wore dresses (unless absolutely needed). I had shopped at other stores and didnt really find any dresses that shouted "ME!" until I got to the French Door Bridal! I went by myself that time, because my maids where busy; and the staff there were completely professional, they listened to what I was thinking about and they never complained when I said I didnt like a style they pulled. I found my dress that day, but waited until my MOH could come see it before I bought it! Every time I went it I had the best service. The dress I bought off the rack and got at a great price! I loved the store and staff so much that I ended up purchasing my maids dresses from there as well! Everything went smoothly and all the sizes fit wonderfully! If you're looking for you "happily ever after" dress, the one to knock your mans socks off, I would definitely go here. They have such wonderful selections and hold the dresses and designers longer than most stores who rotate so often it would be hard to find the dress you like again! LOVE the store, Loved my dress! Made my day so much better and I felt so beautiful in it, and it was incredibly comfortable I wore the dress all day!

I received my dress and my bridesmaid dresses from the French Door. I loved my dress and they were great to work with. I wasn't sure to begin with what I wanted and they were great about letting me look at everything until I found my dress. They were also really great about letting me take the bridesmaid dresses out of the store. I had quite a few bridesmaids that lived out of town so it was really nice to be able to let them take their dresses and not have to travel to me to get them altered.

I had a wonderful experience shopping at the French Door! It was the second bridal shop I visited, and I knew when I left that day that I would be wearing one of the dresses I had tried on. Making an appointment was easy, and when I came in with pictures of dresses I wanted to try on, my consultant did an excellent job of making certain that I had a selection of gowns in my dressing room that would both reflect my taste, and allow me to see some similiar options to be sure I wasn't dismissing a style that I could love. She also brought me gowns that, for the most part, were below the max that I was willing to spend, rather than trying to get me to fall in love with a gown that would stretch my budget-and I really appreciated that! I narrowed my short list down to three options after trying the gowns on, and at the end of my appointment, I was completely torn between two very different gowns. My consultant didn't pressure me for a decision, and told me to come back tomorrow after seeing which gown I dreamed about =). I really appreciated her genuine interest in helping me fine what was right for me.

My experience with the french door overall was a good one. My dress was found very quickly which I was thankful for considering most of the time I cannot make my mind up about anything. It was a very different dress that you do not see a lot of brides in which is why I loved it. As far as the price goes, I got 10% off because I bought it off of the rack, however I do think it should have been more around 15% off since it was off the rack after talking to a couple of other bridal shops. As far as my alterations went, I also thought they should not have charged me as much as they did because I needed ONE button for a bussel and that was the only alteration I needed. Even the girl who did my alterations (through The French Door) said wow this was the easiest alteration I think I have done, but they still charged me the same amount as any other one. Going in for my alterations took five minutes in the shop. It was a LITTLE hard to get an appointment at the time I wanted considering I lived in Sioux City and my mom was traveling from Omaha, however we got a time that eventually worked. As far as the dress and the service goes, A+. They were very professional and got the job done!
One more thing that I did not like, we could not take pictures in the dress until it was bought, which was actually very hard on me because my mom could not be driving up every week to look at new dresses with me and like I said her living far away it would have been nice to be able to take a picture of the dresses that I liked to get her and my sisters opinions who also live in Omaha. They should definitely change that policy, they were the only dress shop out of four that I went to that had that policy. I would definitely recommend this store to my friends but I would warn them about the picture-taking policy in case they are coming from out of town!

They have some beautiful dresses here. I got a monthy summer promotion of 15% off my wedding gown so I went with it. I ended up getting my bridesmaids dresses from another location because they were WAY more expensive here. I found the same dress for almost $90 cheaper at another location.

I LOVED my dress, but I also have an issue with the sizes. They told me several times to order a size bigger than what I wanted. I had already tried on the same dress at a different location, and it fit perfect. I went with the size I wanted and I didn't even need any alterations. I'm glad I went with the size that I wanted. My bridesmaids also had the same problem. All of them were told to get a dress 1 to 2 sizes bigger than what my girls thought they would need. My bridesmaids order the smaller sizes, and none of them needed alterations. My mom and sister ordered the sizes that The French Door recommended, and my mom had to get it taken in by like two sizes. And then had to pay the ridiculous alteration charges. They were very helpful when I didn't know what kind of dress I liked, but I also could have gotten my dress somewhere else.

Ok, thats fine- but only to find out they charged me 300.00 for my alterations. Not necessary- especially when they were the ones who measured me. I guess I just don't understand.

I ended up not getting my dress here. The place was beautiful and the people working were good to work with, but the atmosphere was overwhelming. I couldn't just go in and look--they had to find them for me. I couldn't have my mom come into the dressing room with me and had to come out in front of others in every dress. It was very professional and beautiful but I was very uncomfortable with the process.

I had a great experience purchasing my dress, but then after I purchased my dress my consultant was no longer working there and then there were some issues. No flexibility with their "rules". Dress cannot be brought back to the store for alterations etc. including bridesmaids. Alterations costs are high, but my dress did fit great. Fairly accommodating with appointment times. Won't give any prices over the phone. Not helpful at all to a bridesmaid who needed to order a new dress due to a pregnancy. These little things were fairly frustrating and disappointed me. Also be aware of lots of extra fees, storage fee, storage bag, alterations fitting fee etc. They could have been more helpful with some of these issues. Overall, I am pleased with how my dress turned out, but not sure if their "customer service" or snootiness is worth it.

I bought my dress here and absolutely loved it! I had it altered here as well, but was pretty expensive and they charged me for storing my dress!! Which I thought was a little ridiculous since I paid to have it altered there. There were a bunch of hidden charges, like shipping and storage fees. My groom and his guys and the dads got their tuxes here and every guy had something wrong with their tux! They did fix all of things things wrong in a timely manner though. My bridesmaids got their dresses here as well and if they didn't get them altered there, they didn't even steam the dresses for them.

They were pretty good. We came in later in the day and the store was going to close in 45 min. They were nice and said they could take us but would have to squish their normal 1.5 hour appointments into that 45 min. Well I had already tired on about 40 dresses so I knew pretty well what I wanted. The third dress I found sale which was cheaper than the clearance price and I loved it! Said it was the fastest they ever sold a dress. I loved my dress throughout the whole process. It was more the dress than the store that sold me. When I went back for Bridesmaids they weren't as helpful. They would tell me their sales coming up in hopes I would go for the sale but they didn't help me find the color or style as much as I had to help myself.

I found my dress here on a "half-price" sale if you take the one off the rack. I did not feel like a valued customer at all. First, I think its so creepy they make you take your shoes off when you come in the door. I realize they say its to keep the dresses clean, but its a very unwecoming request. Second, had I not had my close friend with me, I would have felt basically ignored. I picked out my own dresses, brought them to my room, dressed myself, picked out my own veils, and the only thing the saleswoman did was grab me a bra and bring the rejects back to the rack. No advice, no suggestions... was more worried about other customers in the store. I also needed it altered at the top but the seamstress there told me to forget it - there were too many layers to the fabric, so it didn't fit just right. After I bought the dress, there was absolutely no follow up and nothing that made me feel like a special customer. I'm still a little mad at myself for spending $1,500.00 there. Worst part was, I HATED my wedding dress. I cried every time I put it on and told my mom to burn it after my wedding! Had I had a little more help, I don't think I would have been so dissatsified.

We went dress shopping at Interlude and Katherine's the day before. My experience at The French Door was very different than the previous day. The employees were very uptight and borderline snotty to us. They didn't help pick out dresses, it was a "free for all" approach but they limited the number I could try on. I had about ten people with me and I think they didn't like that, but I wouldn't have had it any other way. It was perfect for me and my family as we are very close. I found my dress here and it was great quality but the service was not great for a girl in a great mood with excited family members looking for her wedding dress.

So this dress shop is well known in the area. I was not exactly excited about my experinece with them. The first time I shopped there the sales people had a tendency to ignore me luckily I brought friends with me. The second time I was there I brought my mom and they only payed attention to what she liked and really only talked to her. The third time I was there I was trying to tell the sales lady that I did not want a tiara and she kept putting them on my head, also they ordered me a dress that would fit my smaller waist and not my bust (which is way bigger) I do not know why they did this but they did. When I went to try it on for the first time it took them over an hour to find my dress even though I had called in and made an appointment. Their seamstress did not have great customer service the first time I was there but was pleasant the second time. I found it very hard to schedule a fitting because their seamstress was gone a lot and very booked. However, I did love my dress and it did fit on my wedding day. I felt it was a good value for the price I paid and was very happy with the dress and very disappointed in the service.

I LOVED my dress... however the service wasn't very good. They measured me wrong and ordered me a dress 2 sizes too big (I had to pay for the extra size), then charged me almost $400 to alter it to my right size. Two nights before my wedding... they actually gave my dress to one of the groomsmen without checking identity or anything (I told them I would be picking up my dress the next day)... he didn't even ask for it! He went to pick up his tux and his wife's dress and for some reason he got mine... what if it had been a completely different wedding party?? When we went to talk to them about it... they pretty much blew it off like that would never happen and didn't even acknowledge the issue when I came to pick up my dress AGAIN after it had to be re-steamed. These were the 2 biggest issues among others with their service. I purchased my dress, 8 tuxes, 5 bridesmaids dresses and shoes from them and was shown little appreciation. If everything hadn't turned out so great with my wedding, I would be much more upset.

We rented tuxes from here and was told the price with a special about a month before our wedding. We picked up the tuxes the day before the wedding and it was higher than the quote-that special didn't work on our order after all. I explained we needed the quote in the first place to budget for the day of the wedding and was told "will someone not receiving a meal because of this?" I was appauled. After telling her that this was the most difficult part of planning the wedding since she was so wish-washy on the prices, she finally backed down and refunded us the amount that was overchared.

Terrible experience at the French Door. Sales women are very pushy and talked me into buying a dress that day. Very rude and definitely just cares about selling as many wedding dresses as she can. Would not recommend to even go in the store.

Brides nightmare

So far the service and disclosure all have been a nightmare. Business did not communicate fees for alterations, bridal fitting fee, dress size was ordered/chosen by business without proper measurements. Extra services were never mentioned or given to make an informed decision. I would not recommend this bridal shop to others, as I would not want other brides to experience what I have. My first visit was good after that everything has been a nightmare. I now have to pick up extra shifts to pay for alterations and a fitting that was never mentioned. I’m very disappointed with my purchase and experience.

This place is absolutely horrible!! The people there are extremely rude and unorganized... They wont let you bring a child in the store either!!! Are you kidding me??! My wedding dress I ordered from them came in the wrong size and they refused to have the correct one rush ordered!! What a nightmare!!

The day my daughter picked up her dress from the French Door, it fit perfectly. We brought the dress to an outside alteration place, and at the first appointment, 4 days later, the zipper split open. I called back to the French Door and was told by Susanne the owner, that they would not stand behind the dress, even after she admitted to me that that should not have happened!
