If you're looking for a beautiful, historic, unique and romantic place to get married or hold your reception I highly recommend the Frauenthal. My husband and I have always loved this building, and decided to have our wedding and reception on site on the third floor of the Hilt Building. The pricing is very reasonable, the staff are extremely accommodating. Heather went above and beyond to help me with my dream wedding, and she was extremely helpful to my Master and Mistress of Ceremony. I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the experience and the staff! Thank you all!

I grew up going to the Frauenthal. I played there numerous times as a musician and having our wedding there was everything I had imagined and more. The beauty of the theater was so fun to share with guests☺️ Everyone on the staff went above and beyond what I expected and was so helpful in executing our vision of our theater ceremony. I couldn’t of asked for anything different. Our guests had blast and was such a magical evening❤️

The building was accessable for decorating measurements/issues. The
building maintenance staff were very polite and ready to assist wherever needed. The event coordinator was very knowledgable, available and helpful. The bartending staff at the event were friendly and professional.

The building was a great place to hold our Prom.

Having my wedding at the Frauenthal was a great experience. Everyone made it so easy.

Everything about our experience went so smoothly. The room is beautiful and really didn’t need much else in the way of decor. Heather was a pleasure to work with and you can’t go wrong with the price!

I initially sent an email to the Frauenthal Center inquiring about ballroom space for a wedding reception - we knew we wanted a space for about 180 people for a cocktail party with just drinks, desserts, and appetizers. Heather responded promptly to the email with information and offered to meet to review it all and take a look at the space. She was easy to talk to and had great organization all the way to the time of our event. When we arrived to decorate the tables on the day of the wedding, the tables/chairs were set up just like our plan. The space was clean, and staff were available the day of to assist with anything we needed. There was an issue with our food arriving at the time that we were told, and the staff worked with my contact person to get everything ready without me being aware of any of it until after the day was over! Bar services were amazing.
I highly recommend the use of Frauthenthal Center (and Heather) to anyone looking for a great space for an event!

We couldn't have had a more perfect place for our vows and reception! I would highly recommend frauenthal to everyone I know. I know that if we ever need a banquet hall again in the future it will be with them. Thank you so much for helping to make our special day the perfect day!

We rented the ballroom for our Halloween esque wedding and it was beautiful. We couldn't have chosen a better venue, as most of the wedding guests were able to stay in the hotels all nearby

The Frauenthal Center was the perfect place to have all our friends and family come together to witness and celebrate our marriage. The lighting and decor made the space feel intimate and romantic. The history, structure, and interior design made the ceremony feel very unique. We loved the location in downtown Muskegon, as it provided many options for guests to explore the area and provided us with many photo-worthy location options! The team at the Frauenthal Center were easy to communicate with, which made the day go smoothly from start to finish. I recommend reserving the Frau Lounge the night before for the rehearsal dinner! This enables you and your wedding party to become familiar with the space before the big day. We loved having our wedding at the Frauenthal Center, and we would highly recommend this space to anyone who may be interested!

The Frauenthal offered the perfect setting for our wedding day! Heather was extremely helpful and responsive to emails and let me check out the room several times before our big day; every time I walked into the ballroom we were renting my stress melted away. The day-of staff were excellent as well and helped to make sure everything went smoothly.

I’m so happy we went with the Frauenthal for our wedding. The entire staff was so helpful and definitely went above and beyond. I loved working with Heather, she always answered all of my questions very quickly. She’s so kind and easy to work with! I’d 10/10 recommend using their venue. I got married on the stage, which was perfect, and used both ballrooms upstairs for our reception. It was so convenient having everything in one place and created such a stress free day. We absolutely LOVED having our wedding in the Hilt Building. Heather was so helpful and attentive and made sure all of our needs were taken care of! We loved that our ceremony and reception were in the same space allowing our guests to just come and relax. The venue is absolutely beautiful and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Best of all, it was affordable! They offer an unbeatable location and the staff members are all fantastic. Kimberly Sorenson and the bartenders also helped make our day oh so special! I was looking for a venue specifically in old downtown Muskegon to be close to the hotel Irish Fest and nightlife. The price point of the hilt building is what initially drew me as it was much better than any other venue in the area. Heather was a gem to work with as we were able to see the hall several times and had quite a lot of email contact with her. The hall was beautiful with its wood floors and old beams and very large window. It was the perfect place for our special day and Heather was AMAZING helping us pull it all together! Thank you!

I've done hundreds of weddings in numerous settings but never in a theatre. When my daughter suggested it for her wedding I was a little skeptical but she liked the idea so we went with it. I can not describe how impressed I was with the facility, the staff, and the overall experience. The evening went flawlessly and the stage was set beautifully for both the wedding and reception. It was also great that we didn't have to travel between the wedding and reception locations. None of the guests that I spoke with afterward had ever attended a wedding in a theatre but all agreed it was done wonderfully and it was a great evening.

Heather did a wonderful job coordinating our day. The venue provided someone to coordinate music during the ceremony and they did all of the setup and flipping from the ceremony to the reception in the theater. It was a beautiful indoor venue and I give them my highest recommenation.

Economically the best value, Our reception and dinner was in the gallery. They worked with our decorations and caterer to ensure everything went well. The artwork of the gallery added to the environment & it was just beautiful.

Very willing to work with our unique needs and requests. We were able to revisit the hall while making decorating decisions numerous times.

When my husband and I first stepped foot into the Frauenthal Theatre, we knew that was where we were going to be married. It was breathtaking! The place is so full of beauty and history. We knew it was the "Wow" factor we were looking for. We worked with Heather and Eric and they were so professional and nice. They helped to make it exactly what we envisioned. Everyone is still talking about our ceremony and how different and beautiful it was. We were very lucky to have found such an amazing place that we will always keep close to our hearts.

So happy that we chose to have both our ceremony and reception in the ballroom at the Frauenthal. The entire staff was fantastic to work with. Heather took the time to answer every single question I had--and there were a lot of them. The Frauenthal provides you a day of coordinator and Christine was great at rolling with the punches because as much as you plan for the day, things do come up. Anytime we needed something someone was almost immediately available to assist with whatever we needed. Our guests loved the venue and only had positive reviews for us. I would definitely recommend the Frauenthal as it was an absolute steal with amazing value.

The original venue we booked backed out and we were incredibly fortunate to have both our ceremony & reception at the Frauenthal (our original first choice).
We wanted the architecture of a church, without the religious affiliation. Getting married on stage was an incredible experience and decorations were minimal due to the 18th century beauty.
We had our cocktail hour for our guests on stage directly after the ceremony, then our guests only had to go up to the 2nd floor for the reception (in the beautiful reception gallery). Having the Delta hotel directly across the street was SUPER convenient for all and we saved money on transportation. Having our name in lights on the marquee was so cool and the entire day was unforgettable. We had plenty of space and even had our bride and groom dressing rooms.
I cannot recommend this venue enough. Cannot wait for our wedding pictures to be ready to re live all the beautiful moments.

Book now!! I can't say enough amazing things about the Frauenthal Theater except that it was by far the best venue we could have ever found for our wedding ceremony. After countless venue visits, the second that my husband and I walked into the theater we knew that it was the place for us. Gorgeous and unique the theater made our wedding one to remember.

In addition to the jaw-dropping venue space, both Heather (event manager) and Tyler (tech lead) made our day flawless and special. Heather is the nicest person ever; she was always so quick to respond to my e-mails and so kind and excited for our wedding that it brightened my many long wedding planning days. Tyler is also so skilled, friendly, and professional. He helped us hang a special backdrop for the ceremony, customized sound and lighting, and was there for any and all questions during the planning, rehearsal, and day of our wedding. They both made the entire process run so smoothly and we are beyond grateful for all of their help. Highly recommend!

I loved the venue. My guests were more than blown away by the wedding and loved that our reception was on the stage as well. Everything went perfect. Highly recommended if you are looking for a historic, elegant venue.

Heather was our coordinator and she was absolutely fantastic! She was responsive to our needs, helped sort through options for setting up. Overall, Frauenthal was super accommodating. You never feel like you have everything together but in the end my wedding was flawless. They know what they are doing! The price point was excellent as well. I still have friends say how cool our wedding was with one even mentioning, "you know, some people may never have gotten to step on stage at the Frauenthal but you made it happen so that they could!" ...HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

I had my wedding reception September 2019 on the third floor in the ballroom. Everything was amazing and went as planned. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the event coordinator did a great job! I had about 110 guests and we had half of the ballroom, and it was just the right amount of space. I would definitely recommend this venue.

The rental price was very reasonable. The staff provided everything we requested for the setting up of the event and responded quickly and positively to phone calls the night of the reception. The digital signage at every entrance with the couple's picture was very up to date and helpful to guests. The room was clean and furniture in very good condition. We're really glad our daughter chose the Frauenthal for her wedding reception.

The venue was absolutely gorgeous! I was hesitant about getting married on a "stage". My husband urged me to just walk through the Frauenthal. After one look, I knew this was our venue. Heather was amazing. She made sure we got in touch with everybody to make our day run smoothly. She even let our photographer walk through on a separate day to look at different sports to set up and get a feel for the venue and lighting. We had initially worked with Tyler for the logistics part, and he even gave us a tour of the entire theatre. It was amazing! The venue was perfect. Our day went without a hitch! They truly went above and beyond for our day.

We had a beautiful reception for my daughter's wedding in the Johnson Hall. Everyone on the staff was helpful and wonderful to work with. This was the second time that we'd used the venue and we would use them again if the occasion arises.

For our wedding reception we chose the upstairs ballroom because of its elegance and also its attractive price tag.

Throughout the planning process we decided to hold our ceremony on the second floor art gallery and are certainly glad we did. Not only was it extremely elegant; it also required very little decorating. The sound system was already on site and worked great. The best parts were the added cost was less the most other ceremony venues and better yet it was super easy for all our guests.

The staff at the frauenthal were excellent. They were very attentive and did EVERYTHING we asked. So easy to work with and so down to earth.

The overall value of what this venue offers, compared to others for a similar price, is remarkable. We have zero regrets holding our day here!

The Frauenthal Theatre in Muskegon, MI provided the most beautiful venue for our Christmas wedding and reception! Event Coordinator, Heather Jett was extremely proficient at making the entire process enjoyable. Our guests haven't stopped raving about the entire event! They were very responsive to our needs/requests, allowing us to meet at the theatre as many times as we desired. With the great sound system and beautiful lighting options, there could be no more spectacular setting....they even made it snow at the end of the ceremony!
They made a quick, almost magical transition between the ceremony and reception (both on the stage). Absolutely gorgeous!

I love the staff that was there the day of my event. What whatever my coordinator needed whether it was a different size tables or an extra cords, the staff got it with no hesitation. The venue was beautiful with out the decoration and awesome after it was all decorated. Thank You Hilt Build Staff!

The staff at the theater was amazing! We live out of state and were doing all our planning long-distance, and they were incredibly flexible in meeting us whenever we were in town and had questions. The technical director was so helpful in offering suggestions for lighting that added the perfect touch, and our guests were so amazed at how beautiful everything was with so little work on our part. Absolutely the most unique and beautiful location you'll find for a wedding your guests will all be talking about afterwards, and for not that much more than you would spend for a regular hotel ballroom or banquet hall.

Working with Heather was absolutely wonderful. She was so helpful and knew so much about event planning! Because this was my first wedding, I didn't know a lot. She was able to answer all of my questions and was so great!

The Frauenthal was wonderful. The price was perfect, and the space is GORGEOUS! I am so happy that I chose to have my wedding reception here. The only complaint that I have is that I had some guest complaints about the rudeness of one of the bartenders. Other than that, the space was 100% perfect :)

Everything was perfect! Heather was a great contact and very helpful in planning our event. The venue is beautiful, and that speaks for itself. I love the marquee. My only complaint is that it was pretty expensive for just the ceremony portion of the day.

I recently had my wedding at the Frauenthal Performing Arts Center and I was very impressed with the whole experience. Heather Jett worked with my up until the day of answering all of my questions and meeting with my mom and I in person to go through everything. She is very detail oriented and very approachable.

We were shocked to hear that we had access to the theater all day the day before the wedding to set up. Usually that is unheard of for venues. I was also very impressed with the Technical Director. I had copied my songs for the wedding onto a CD but for some reason some of the songs did not make it on to the CD. We found this out at the Rehearsal. The Tech Director found the songs on his computer and had them all set and ready to go in 5 minutes.

The whole staff there is very friendly and accommodating. The only one thing I wish had been different was on the day of the wedding my mistress of ceremonies and a few other people arrived a little early to finish some stuff but the building was locked. They ended up getting in shortly before I had to arrive for pictures. That was a little stressful but I am sure it was an oversight as they had 2 weddings in the building that day.

All of my guests were stunned by the beauty of the building and they all had a spectacular time. Thank you so much to the Frauenthal and everyone who was a part of my special day. You guys rock and I am glad I chose to have my wedding there. I will recommend you to everyone!

We were very happy with the attention we received and the overall experience we had. Heather helped us with virtually every decision we had to make with regard to the Frauenthel.

The service was great. Heather gave us her cell phone number so we could contact her at any moment we needed her during our wedding. She even carried by wedding gown train so it wouldn't get dirty.

I would highly recommend the Frauenthal Center! It was an incredible place for a wedding!! We thoroughly enjoyed our day - great prices (bridal show discount, ladies), we had the entire two days to ourselves, staff was helpful, Heather was amazing and so great to work with, easy communication, worked with my vendors so my day was totally stress-free! We used the ballrooms and the art gallery area, with our ready rooms in the theater dressing rooms. Lots of great photo ops within walking distance, and the space was so versatile. Heather took all my needs and requests and made them a reality in ways better than I even imagined, from floor plans to bar estimates to seating arrangements, and answered all my questions! I would highly recommend this location! Thank you!

What a hidden gem! From the moment we walked into the venue, we instantly fell in love with the place. I worked with Heather Jett- the event manager the entire 9 months prior to my wedding. They were very felxible and worked with us with our deposits to hold our date. I was in constant contact with Heather. She was really responsive and prompted with returning calls and emails. I ran into a little problem 4 weeks prior to my wedding----I was over in guests!!! I asked them how they can accomidate with seating and though there were options out there, their were also some hidden costs that were not mentioned in our contract. That was the only downfall---hidden costs! Another example is, we paid over $800 more expected after our wedding was complete for our sound/tech guy. In the contract it said he was $18/hour, and I'm not sure how that computed to the amount, and to this day I don't know how, BUT bottom line, I would of paid 10 times the amount I did to just have the ceremony and reception there because despite all the minor things, my wedding day turned out perfect!!! Our guests were just blown away by the beauty and history of the Frauenthal. It was just so breath taking!!!

Only issue I had with the service provide, was something small.

While there was another event going on the same day as our wedding, we were told that we would be able to use the old marquee for pictures. The other event started at 8, our names could be put onto the sign and we would be able to take pictures by 8:45. We would have been fine had it been maybe 15 minutes late, but we weren't able to go outside to take pictures until 9:30-9:45.

Our photographers graciously stayed past contracted time and also did not charge us. Our photographer had to constantly keep asking on an estimated time of completion, not someone letting us know.

We had our wedding reception on the third floor in the Munroe-Bergmann and Johnson Hall! It was absolutely stunning! Heather Hansen was amazing to work with and helped to ensure we had everything we needed for our special day! I would recommend having a wedding reception or event at the Frauenthal to anyone. It was very affordable, beautiful, and the staff was friendly and courteous. Thank you so much Heather and Frauenthal for providing us with a beautiful venue to celebrate our marriage!

Staff at the Frauenthal were great to work with. Very helpful in making reception plans; there the night of the event to welcome guests. Available when needed and flexible.

The acoustics in the second floor make it hard to hear speeches and spoken announcements if you aren't near the dance floor. Otherwise everything was great!

While I think this is an AMAZING venue for weddings, we were a bit disappointed on the service. We felt like the staff didn't communicate well with our catering vendor (even though they had worked with them previously). It made for a lot of confusion at the end of the night. Also, they didn't clean before we got there or after we called them. We hung lights from the ceiling that made years of dust go everywhere, and it remained like that for our reception. It also seemed like our event coordinator was just as clueless as we were about some things... a bit spacy I guess.

Now that the complaining is over with, I do have to say I LOVED the way our pictures turned out for the wedding. This is such a unique space. I recommend having both the wedding and reception in the big theatre because I was disappointed I didn't. Also, the tech guys are AWESOME. They did everything I needed, even when I called like five times about more and more extension cords. I would still recommend this venue even with the little bumps. :)

The only mishap we had was the miss-communication with the pop. We thought we were paying for it, but our guests were charged. We still had a fantastic evening.

Many brides might find it interesting to know that the Frauenthal Theater is available to rent for weddings (even the big stage)! I'm not sure how many weddings they have had at the theater before mine. It's probably like a well kept secret they do this!

Overall, you can't beat the atmosphere for a ceremony or a reception. My husband and I wanted a Hollywood theme, and Heather Jett, the event manager, was great in helping us visualize the two rooms we used (the rehearsal halls-Munroe/Bergman and Johnson Hall). She had floor plans to pencil in where we needed tables, chairs, and bar areas. This was very helpful! She also let us use the "VIP red ropes" for the entrance areas. She was great with emails and the pre-planning process (note: she is the event manager, NOT a wedding planner!). See below, though, for some things to keep in mind when the day comes.

Brides should be aware that the Frauenthal only lets you use approved caterers from their list, and you can only use the Frauenthal's beverage service (including sodas). Read the contracts carefully. The venue does not mind if the cake comes from any bakery..does not need to be approved.

A big plus is the venue sets up all your tables and chairs for you, plus they tear them down at the end of the event. However...you need to make sure all of your belongings are out of the spaces (including the decor) by the end of the night. They were great about letting us store a few things in the conference room overnight, and it was helpful to use the loading carts and elevators!

The downside? I did have some issues with Heather (the event manager) the day before and day of wedding. I had told her a couple of times that we would be in the building by 9 a.m. the day before to begin setups. All of the tables and chairs were set up (nice!), but there wasn't a ladder (as requested) and we didn't have enough extension cords. I had to run to the main office to try and find Heather, but I was told she wasn't coming in until later that day. Her boss was great about getting someone to help us, but it would have been good to know that Heather wouldn't be there until later...and who we should call/see for issues.

The same thing happened the next day. We had issues with the sound and once again, Heather was not around and I had to track someone down while I was doing my makeup. I was told later by a building guy that she'd be there by one p.m., (she wasn't there by one), but we figured that anything that came up we had to rely on the building guys until she showed. By the time I saw her, we had fixed all issues...and well, it was a case of it would have been nice to know she wouldn't be available earlier.

I totally understood that Heather is the event manager, not a wedding planner. I did not expect her to do anything that involved decorations or wedding issues. However, a bride needs to know if she's going to be AVAILABLE to answer questions or fix equipment issues on the day of! And if not, then who is the point person?

Overall though, I would say using the Frauenthal would be wonderful for a wedding. Like I said, there is nothing like having that atmosphere and the prices are very reasonable...especially for an "off peak" season bride like myself. The wedding and reception looked gorgeous inside those rooms, especially with the lights (with dimmers!). I'm glad we had this venue to bring our theme out so beautifully.

Overall, we were very happy with the Frauenthal as a venue for our daughter's wedding. The theater is, of course, stunning and majestic. The Frauenthal staff was helpful and worked well with our vendors.

The few things that weren't quite right were minimal - whoever set up the room left out a few tables, but we were able to get them easily enough. The most upsetting, though, was the price ended up being much higher than anticipated. We'd pre-paid for everything (or so we thought), but a few days after the wedding I received an email stating we owed several hundred dollars in "extra" costs.

The venue itself was beautiful! It was an exceptional place to hold our wedding and reception. Even with the extra costs, I think we'd still make the same choice if we had to do it all over again.
