Amazing Live Music!!! Used in 2020 & 2022

Mitch and his team of musicians did a fantastic job for our small backyard wedding in June 2020 and also at our larger ceremony + cocktail hour in Aug 2022. We used the jazz trio in 2020, and then for our larger party in Aug 2022 used the violin/chello for our ceremony and bass/piano for the cocktail hour. Having the musicians for an hour was an affordable option to have live music in addition to our DJ for the rest of the reception. Everyone loved the music, and Mitch did a fantastic job coordinating with us on our plans. We are so appreciative of the flexibility they had as a vendor back in 2020 being open to playing distanced outside (for our wedding during COVID times) and then also helping us plan music for our larger celebration in 2022. Highly recommend!!

Our wedding ceremony music was so beautiful thanks to the string duo we used from Fermata. They were flexible and played the special songs we wanted included for our special day. Highly recommend!

For my son's rehearsal dinner, we hired Fermata Music to play background music for the event. We had the piano and upright bass. I can't say enough about the entire experience from my first phone call with Mitch to the musicians. I was concerned because all of the arrangements were made by phone with the event in Columbus and us living in Chicago. But, I should never have worried. The musicians were set up when I got to the venue and the music fit perfectly with the crowd. I would recommend them to anyone having an event of any kind in Columbus! It will be the easiest and best part of your event!

They string quartet was excellent for our wedding ceremony, and then they also played for our cocktail hour. Very easy to work with, and set everything up without a hitch and performed great. Would definitely recommend this group.

I am so happy that I chose Fermata Music to perform at my wedding. Mitch was incredible to work with - very flexible and very good at explaining their services and options. The pianist and the violinist we hired for our wedding did a wonderful job and were enjoyed by all. I received many compliments on them. They were professional, well-dressed, and if there were any issues with setting up or figuring anything out at the venue, I didn't know. I would HIGHLY recommend Fermata Music!

We tasked the musicians at Fermata with a range of requests consisting of classic rock, movie scores, and current popular songs. They translated all into a beautifully sounding string quartet that made our ceremony truly one of a kind. I would recommend anyone looking for their own personal musical touch to consult with Fermata first and foremost!

Fermata was the perfect addition to our special night! Mitch was amazing to work with and the band was reasonably price and everyone enjoyed the heck out of them! If you want an alternative to a typical DJ-style reception, look no further than Fermata

If I could rate Fermata music higher than a 5, I most definitely would. Everything about Fermata music is top notch! From the beginning to the end, Mitch provides clients with outstanding customer service, speedy response to emails, and extreme professionalism. We had a solo violin for the ceremony and DJ for reception. I initially wanted a swing band, but due to our venue size and sound restrictions, Mitch gave us a few different options on what could work at our wedding venue. I changed my mind a dozen times and this never fazed Mitch at all. He never got frustrated, all he wanted was happy clients! I love that he took the time to call me and have an actual phone conversation, this helped so much as we had a very specific type of music we wanted. I was concerned about having a DJ as I generally think they are a bit cheesy, but our DJ was awesome and quite classy. Our violinist was amazing and everyone commented about how talented he was. I truly felt like the music set the tone for our wedding. Mitch understands customer service like no other; he made the planning process stress free and he never got annoyed when I made last minute changes. He is extremely prompt when replying to emails and phone calls as well. Hiring Fermata music was one of the best decisions we made vendor wise for our wedding and we recommend them a million times over!

Mitch and everyone at Fermata Music were really incredible. We really wanted a live music swing band for our wedding, but were not sure we could afford this. Mitch thoroughly answered our million questions and worked closely with us to figure out the exact timing of everything in the transitions. If I could give a 7 for flexibility, I would. This flexibility not only made everything easier, but also just meant we could fit the music to the wedding's schedule. From the timing, to the discreet set up, to letting us pick and choose which instrumentation we wanted, they were absolutely amazing.

Additionally, they accommodated all of special requests. This included playing the specific songs for our special dances in the style that we wanted (for example, playing Ain't Misbehavin' as our first dance in the style of Fats Waller's version). They did this masterfully and everyone enjoyed the quality of the music. At the very last minute we even asked if they could announce us to the Rocky theme song and they made it happen, which made me ridiculously happy.

I would book them again for an event in a heartbeat.

We had a string trio from Fermata perform the music for our ceremony, and they did a tremendous job. The director Mitch Matthew was very professional and easy to work with, and the musicians complimented our ceremony perfectly. I highly recommend them!

Fermata Music provided an absolutely incredible band to make our special day perfect. OK Maybe has got to be the best wedding band I have ever heard. I have never seen people hit the dance floor so quickly and for so long. It is a rare combination when the venue says it is the best band they have ever had and the band says it is the best crowd.

Honestly, out of every other vendor we worked with Fermata Music was the best. I was a little worried at first because I really wanted to meet them in person and have a rehersal before the wedding, but there really was no need for that. They were AWESOME and very professional. I didn't have to worry about their set up or time or music- they had everything put together and in order for our wedding day. Some vendors ask tons of questions and honestly kinda bother you on your wedding day, but fermata music made my wedding ceremony that much more enjoyable because it really was a stress-free process. You can just tell they are expereinced at what they do. I would defineltey recommend them- I now completely trust their work lol. They deserve 5 stars.

Fermata was an excellent choice for our wedding ceremony! Mitch helped us select the instruments (classical guitar and violin) that would work best with our space. He also arranged for a special song to be played as a processional. I'm so glad we spent the extra money to have live music at our ceremony. I would recommend them 100 times over!

Very professional service provided, made our ceremony very romantic with a piano and chello in our woods setting. Would highly recommend! Arrived in a timely manor, director of the company is very good at his job and didn't miss a single detail. Played every piece right on cue :)

We hired a Fermata Music trio for my son's surprise engagement in downtown Columbus. They were everything we expected and more. Mitch Matthew's professionalism, politeness and timeliness in coordinating the trio and music for us exceeded our expectations so much so that we hired them again for my son's wedding (even learning a specific song for the engagement on very short notice). So on May 9th of 2015 they provided the music for guest arrival and for the cocktail hour. We used the String Trio for the engagement and the Piano Trio for the wedding. They were all wonderful musicians. I not only recommend hiring them, we will definitely be hiring them again,

Mitch at Fermata Music was so wonderful!! He was easy to work with and answered my (many, many) questions promptly and knowledgeably.

He helped us choose songs that were perfect for our reception, and he let us pick a few custom songs, with a nominal fee for rehearsals and sheet music.

Our piano player, Randy, was fantastic! He's such a talented musician, and our guests loved the elegant atmosphere he helped to created.

Hands down, I would recommend going with Fermata over a traditional wedding DJ any day. Your guests will have an incredible time!

We hired Fermata Music to play the music during the ceremony. Mitch was wonderful. He was so helpful and asked questions and provided suggestions which was great since I didn't know what I was doing. He told us which songs we wanted would sound best with a stringed instrument as opposed to a brass one so we got the best sound possible. Everyone raved about how great the music was! I'm so glad we hired Fermata. Mitch put me at ease through the entire process.

Mitch at Fermata made planning the music very easy and
painless during one of the most busy times of our lives. Everything

Fermata music was wonderful to work with - extremely friendly and accommodating. They provided a string quartet for our wedding ceremony and it was absolutely beautiful. Mitch Matthew and the whole team at Fermata were a pivotal part of making our day so special. Fermata provided the string ensemble for the ceremony, jazz combo for the cocktail hour, pianist for dinner hour and the DJ for dancing and celebration. All of the musicians were excellent. Fermata works with talent from the Columbus symphony and local jazz musicians who are all extremely talented and professional.

Pete Downhour was our DJ and he was very polished, a great MC, and played a nice variety of music for dancing. Pete even helped me with a special project for my father/daughter dance that required some pre-wedding preparation. Pete helped us pull off a little number that I've been told was "You Tube Worthy!"

Mitch Matthew was our mucial coordinator from Fermata, and he was extremely helpful in guiding us through the process and helping us to pick musical selections and musicians to fit our needs. The most amazing thing about Fermata's services is, on the day of the wedding all of the musicians and Fermata team members are so good at what they do that from the bride and groom's perspective, you don't even know they are there until they magically start playing music! It was amazing, like something out of a movie.

So many of our guests commented on how wonderful all of the music was, and how much they loved it.

My philosophy on throwing a good party is that you can't throw a good party without good music. The music MAKES the party. People are going to remember maybe three things about your wedding, and you want one of those three memories to be how awesome the music was. Fermata will make that happen in a couple easy steps. It is literally one stop shopping for all your musical needs. Choose Mitch & his team at Fermata, and chose Pete Downhour for your DJ. You will not regret it, and they are worth every penny.

We utilized Fermata Music for a pianist at our rehearsal dinner and it was a rather large event with roughly 125 people. The music was truly a hit! Everyone enjoyed the song selection and it really set the mood for our event. They were so easy to work with which made things simple on such a hectic weekend. I would definitely recommend their services for future events!

We had the classical guitar and flute combo for our ceremony. The music was beautiful and we received many complements. Mitch was very responsive and helpful all throughout the planning period. I would definitely recommend these guys. Very professional, didn't need to worry about anything

Fermata performed for our ceremony, cocktail and also during dinner. The performance was excellent and exactly what we had in mind. Ceremony music was angelic and serene. Cocktail and dinner music was very relaxing. Mitch was very easy to work with and went the extra mile to purchase music we wanted that wasn't on the list of songs they perform to. Their response time is also really quick. This is definitely a great company to work with and we highly recommend

Mitch Matthew and Fermata Music helped make our wedding a stunning success. They worked with us to provide 4 distinct types of music: String Trio during the (outdoor) ceremony; Cocktail Piano during cocktails; Standards & Swing (the dining room had been set up like a '50's Supper Club); and finally the PARTY band. Each phase was perfect! The musicians were excellent, professional and friendly. We were all able to talk and visit during cocktails and dinner, then the Party Band literally kept us and our guests on the dance floor from the very first song to the end of the night.

We gladly, and very highly recommend this group. Thank you Fermata Music!

The solo violinist that was provided for my wedding did an excellent job at my wedding. The violinis was very knowledgeable and was able to help me choose the right music for the ceremony.

Working with Mitch and the musicians at Fermata Music was easy and fun. They were very professional in every interaction we had together and were extremely flexible while we changed things up on them constantly. I only wish I had gotten to hear more of the music besides just walking down the aisle! The songs I did hear however (walking down the aisle, sand ceremony song, processional) were beautifully played. We received lots of compliments from our family and friends. I would definitely recommend Fermata Music to other brides and grooms!

We hired Fermata Music to provide a string trio for our ceremony/cocktail hour music and a DJ for our reception. The string trio was awesome but the DJ is what really stole the show. We had a DJ named Pete and he was the best. Played exactly what we wanted to hear at the reception and kept the guests dancing. If you hire Fermata for their DJ services, make sure to request Pete - you will not be disappointed!

Mitch, the person I was in regular contact with, was very responsive when I would email or call him. He would either always answer right back, or call me to chat about our big day. The ceremony musicians provided beautiful music, with a lot of different choices to pick from. The reception band was also outstanding. We had some logistical snags at the reception and they just took it in stride and kept things moving along.

In one word… Professional! The staff and musicians of Fermata Music are wonderful. Mitch was always available to discuss our needs and answer our questions. The string quartet that was hired was punctual, understanding, accommodating and sounded spectacular on our wedding day. My bride and I continue to get comments from our guess regarding how great the quartet sounded and how much they enjoyed the music during our ceremony and cocktail hour. Fermata provided us with a violin and cello for our ceremony, a three piece jazz band with vocalist for cocktail hour, and a DJ for dinner and dancing. All three elements were flawless and operated professionally and according to ours plans! Mitch and our DJ both went over every detail of the day with us beforehand, so I didn't have to worry about any details the day of and was able to enjoy it all. Fermata Music did a wonderful job at my oldest daughter's wedding six years ago, and were just as wonderful recently at my youngest daughter's wedding. If I could do nothing else I would scrounge every penny to have them, as the music really sets the mood and tone for a beautiful, special, and memorable day. My oldest daughter received comments more than a year and a half later on how simple yet elegant her wedding was. Well worth the money.

We loved having Fermata music at our wedding. They were playing as our guests walked into the ballroom and continued through dinner. They were so good and our guests loved them! Several people told us that was their favorite part of our wedding. They played great songs, sounded great, and were very professional. I didn't have a single issue with them all through my planning and I was very pleased. My best friend has booked them to play at her wedding after seeing them at mine and I can't to be able to see them again.

I requested a soloist/ guitarist for a couple special music songs during the ceremony and Mitch found us the perfect match in Phil. Phil was amazing, punctual, polite and a great addition to our ceremony. We never met before the day of and I didnt have to worry for a moment. Its also nice to go through the company because if something had happened with Phil they would have found us another musician to the best of their ability.

Booked a trumpet player, organist, and cantor a month and a half before the wedding. Mitch, the manager, was easy to work with, had great communication, and listened to what I wanted. He called 2 days before to wedding to go over timing and everything completely, and called my again the day before to wish us luck and congrats. All of our musicians were already trained for Catholic mass, which not all places had, and the prices were better than other places I looked. The musicians did an excellent job, and even my husband commented on how beautiful the music sounded in the Church.

We hired a solo pianist to play with my Uncle, who plays the saxophone, during the ceremony. We hired Fermata's Jazz Duo and Swing Band (4 piece) for our cocktail hour and reception. Both ensembles were incredibly talented and kept up the energy throughout our reception. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how much fun it was to be able to dance to such up-beat and dynamic music. Mitch and his band members at Fermata were extremely flexible and able to accommodate our requests. They were willing to work with logistics and the technical issues behind band transitions and breaks. Definitely recommend working with Fermata. You won't regret having them as a part of your day!

We used Fermata Music to book a Pianist for our wedding ceremony. Mitch was fantastic to work with, made sure he knew all the details of the ceremony before hand, and was very kind and professional. The pianist, Dean, played beautifully, and even accompanied a relative who we had sing Ave Maria. The price was very reasonable. We would surely recommend both Mitch and Dean.

Only place to be improved upon; missed one pre-scheduled phone call meeting, and harder to speak to over the phone after normal business hours (when you have a busy work schedule like me, it's nice to be able to talk to someone in the evening). Still, an excellent company with great people.

Great Music & DJ Services

Fermata did a fabulous job with our ceremony music. They created an arrangement for 2 of our songs. I was a little nervous because we didn't elect to spend the additional money to get samples of the custom arrangements prior, but we had nothing to worry about. The music was exactly what I had envisioned and hoped for.

Our ceremony was outdoors and the temperature outside that day was a bit chilly at 50 F. Fermata did require we get a pop up tent and some space heaters which did make the week before the wedding a little hectic and stressful as we owned neither, but it was well worth it for our outdoor ceremony.

Mitch with Fermata is a dream to work with. I had some quirky ideas and he didn't bat an eye. I wanted a specific song to be played while walking down the isle (Cello & Violin version of The Little Mermaid's Kiss the Girl). I found what I wanted on YouTube. Mitch contacted the performers in the video and was able to get the exact music we wanted. For the cocktail hour we had a pianist that was wonderful. The Swing Band was the group for the reception. My guests RAVED about how fantastic the group was. The age of my guests ranged from 5 to 91 years old and all had a wonderful time!

I wish I could express how happy I was to have Fermata part of my special day. It was flawless.

Booking Fermata Music and working with Mitch were some of the easiest parts of my wedding planning. I looked for live ceremony music to Dayton for weeks before I contacted Fermata Music. I wasn't sure if I wanted a string quartet, a piano, or some type of combination. I ended up choosing a piano trio which included a piano, a violin, and a cello. This made for a beautiful, elegant, and unique pairing for our ceremony. Mitch got back to me quickest out of all my vendors and offered me suggestions instead of me having to come up with everything. With all the decisions to be made, this really helped me a lot. My only regret was that since I was hidden away before the ceremony, I didn't get to enjoy the beautiful music before the ceremony. If you are looking for a ceremony music vendor with different options, I would reach out to Fermata and have them explain some possibilities because it really put me at ease. All of our guests raved about how wonderful the music was at our ceremony and cocktail hour. It was really quite beautiful. We had a violin and cello for the ceremony and jazz guitar for the cocktail hour. There was one period of time, about 4 or 5 days, when my mother and I were unable to get in contact with Mitch. I believe it may have been and email/phone server issue because we would get mail-daemon replies and phone calls would go straight to voicemail. However, Mitch did apologize for the confusion and everything worked out just fine. Any other time before or after that I always received a reply within 24 hours or less. I would certainly recommend using Fermata Music. Having live musicians was a unique detail that added to the celebration!

Mitch was very flexible as I had changed my mind about what music I wanted a couple times. I ended up going through him for a string duo for the ceremony, jazz band w/vocals for part of the reception, then a sound attendant to play our ipod playlist the rest of the night. Everything was absolutely wonderful! The jazz band especially was fantastic - highly recommend if you like Frank Sinatra type music!! It was very classy and just set a good tone for the night. The band wore tuxes and had a old fashioned mic. Also very affordable in comparison to other bands I had looked into. Only downsides, he was a bit hard to get a hold of at times, but two weeks before the wedding he met with me for an hour and a half and went over every detail. I also wish I would have gotten a portable mic for the speeches at my wedding (the jazz band mic was not portable and hard to hear). Overall, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Fermata did such an amazing job at our wedding. We had the jazz trio for the first portion of the reception, then switched to a swing band for the remainder. We got so many compliments on the band: my uncle, who is a musician himself, said they were great and that it was the best wedding he's been to. Another friend thanked us for not having to hear Soulja Boy! It was really a special touch to have live music on our big day.

Mitch was fantastic to work with; our phone conversations prior to the wedding were very informative, and he was flexible during the reception. He found me at several points during the reception to ask what I wanted to do next. It was so helpful because everything is such a whirlwind. I would DEFINITELY recommend them.

I loved working with Mitch and the band. They were super super helpful in picking music with me and working with me. Great service. My only criticism is that it was pricey (although I understand it will be expensive for a live band) and the flexibility of the band. There were a lot of things we had to provide for the band for an outdoor space. They were very picky on the flooring for grass and lighting, etc. We had to order wood flooring for a section by our wedding arch just for ceremony music. They ended up not evening using that and situating themselves under the barn so we just ate the cost of the flooring. That was frustrating but I understood weather was a big concern. I wish I was told ahead of time though. However, I can overlook all of that because they were great sounding and really great at planning with me. Also, very congratulatory during the wedding!

We hired the classical guitarist for our wedding ceremony at the Art Museum. We couldn't have been happier with our choice. We worked with Mitch to decide on the "perfect" sound for our special day. We found string performances to often have a somber feel, we wanted to make sure the music was celebratory and upbeat...classical training with a contemporary flair. We received exactly what we wanted. Our guests ranted and raved about the guitarist. I would recommend Fermata Music, especially the classical guitarist, to any bride or groom-to-be!

They arrived on time (even a little early to get setup) and played fully as we intended. We do wish that they had more payment options available (especially Credit Card), but they were accommodating when we missed a due date for the remaining balance. Disclaimer-- I am sure that I had an exception because this company typically gets great reviews. The musicians did an amazing job, but my experience leading up to the day of made me not extremely fond of this vendor.

We had gone back and forth on if we were going to book live music or not. We ended up booking March for a May wedding. The instructions say to contact them 4 weeks before the wedding with details on songs we want and order etc. I contacted them about 2-3 weeks before for a song list that we could choose from for Cello and Violin and set up a phone call for the following week to discuss options. They were unable to call me for our set appointment due to a delayed flight which was totally fine and reasonable.

At this point we were talking 5 days before my wedding. I had looked up some modern songs on you tube and asked if we could get those played as well but because it was so close to my wedding and given the type of duet that we chose, they were unable to play those. He suggested that we should have gone with the piano violin option because they could accomidate more modern music and that he had wished we talked sooner. We had to pay a late fee to change because it was within a month before our date (however you are not supposed to contact them until a month out...so any changes made you'll be charged a fee). They went out of there way to contact a pianist from Cinci because all of there normal ones were booked. I requested additional modern songs, but due to the timing they could not secure an arrangement and they suggested classical songs ( I wouldn't have switched if I could still only get classical songs). At this point, a day before my wedding, I was not getting responses to my email which scared me. But at the end of the day, he secured one of my requests to be played.

Overall, the music quality was great, price was comparable to others, and I wish they would suggest an early contact point.

Overall, I am pleased with the service. My only complaints are that the owner Mitch, is very difficult to get a hold of, and he takes a long time to respond to emails. I went about a month and half at one point waiting on a reply. The musicians did a wonderful job. I am also upset that my do not play list was not enforced. That was a shame. One of the few songs that I requested not be played was one of the only songs I actually heard, that kind of ticked me off. Otherwise, the musicians did a wonderful job. I'm not sure if I would recommend this vendor to another bride. I would because they are great musicians for a decent prices, but I wouldn't because of the long response time, and because my "do not play" list was not taken seriously.

I liked the fact that I was able to choose various services from one company to customize our reception ( jazz combo, solo piano, and dj). I was told the jazz combo was great and I enjoyed the pianist during dinner. We were not that impressed with our dj however. He looked like he could fall asleep standing on the stage. He was not engaging and did not interact with the guests. He played the music we had requested but that was about it. Contact with information and scheduling also could've been better.
