I am so amazed at what Fariba was able to do with my wedding dress! I lost about 40lbs after purchasing my dress so when it was time for my first fitting, it was way too big and wouldn't even stay up. Fariba completely put my mind at ease with her confidence and reassurance that there would be no problem with making it fit perfectly. She offered input on where things should be adjusted and then worked absolute magic. I don't know how she made the alterations look so seamless with the details on the dress, but it fit me like a glove on the wedding day! I attached a picture here that shows how much it had to be taken in (and then was taken in even more after this appointment!) and also a picture that shows how perfectly it fit at the wedding! I highly recommend working with Fariba for your wedding alterations! -

Fariba is a talent to be reckoned with! She and her staff are absolutely INCREDIBLE! She took my mom’s 1982 wedding dress and brought it back to life. She listened to my design ideas and used her expertise to make beautiful suggestions. Her price was absolutely reasonable and she worked in a timely manner to get everything done with plenty of advance notice. I’m so grateful I found her services and highly recommend her for both wedding and just regular tailoring needs! -

Wonderful experience
Fariba did an amazing job altering my wedding dress and crafting a custom shorter veil to match for my dinner and dancing reception. I had a full lace Pronovias gown with a scalloped hem that required detailed alterations. Fariba and her team came up with a thoughtful way to make my bodice more fitted and match the lining to my skin tone. Fariba also did a lovely job altering the Mother of the Bride’s dress that was fitted and strapless with a sheer cape overlay and train. Not only is her work amazing, but she is so warm and kind. Fariba and her team put me, my mom, and my twin sister (Maid of Honor) immediately at ease and we’re thrilled with our experience and how everything turned out. -

Amazing!!!
Such a pleasure to have had Fariba's alter my dress! They had a first fitting with me where all the changes they recommended were outlined with pricing. They confirmed what I would like to do (opted for everything they recommend) and the turn around was super quick! They had it ready for my second fitting in 3 weeks and was so excited. Second fitting went just as well, the dress is perfect!

Fariba was a wedding day hero after my first wedding dress was destroyed by an in-house alteration service at a bridal shop in Potomac, MD. By no less than a miracle we were able to obtain the same dress that was being sold as a sample at a different store (Blue Sage Bridal in Richmond) and took the new dress for Fariba for alterations. One of the best decisions of my wedding journey was to have the new (second dress) altered by Fariba. When I finally tried on my dress, which Fariba was able to complete a few days before the wedding, the dress that was once the subject of a nightmare experience became a dream wedding gown. It is difficult to describe how beautifully the dress fit and how comfortable it was! Every stich Fariba put into the gown was perfect. It was quite an experience to come to understand how a poorly altered dress vs. a professionally altered dress is like night and day. I felt every penny spent with Fariba was well worth it, not just because of the end result was a beautiful well-fitting gown, but because of her incredible work ethic as a professional. She is as honest, hardworking, kind and focused on giving brides the best experience possible.
I am so fortunate that my dress story turned out the way it did – miraculously finding the same dress and ending up in the caring hands of ethical women professionals at Blue Sage and Fariba Bridal Alterations – businesses that I am happy to support. With their confidence and expertise behind me, I was able to obtain 100% my money back from the previous shop (for both the dress and the alterations).
I highly recommend both Fariba Bridal Alterations as well as Blue Sage Bridal and I hope this review helps other brides become aware of some of the bridal alteration scams and risks out there. While it is difficult to determine which tailors will and won’t cut corners, Fariba Bridal Alterations is well worth it knowing you will get quality and peace of mind. -

Excellent Service & Alterations!
I needed a custom bodice for my wedding dress that I purchased to make it less revealing and the staff at Fariba's alterations did an amazing job! I was so anxious about my dress fitting right, but they helped me custom design the top and it turned out better than expected. I loved my wedding dress and was so happy with the results! -

I was recommended to work with Fariba by Annalise Bridal where I purchased my wedding gown and am so glad that I did! I thought going into alterations that I'd only need to add a bustle and make a few small changes, but loved how Fariba and her team (while not being pushy or pressuring me at all) made additional suggestions to make my gown turn into a custom fit. I wasn't thrilled with the bustle options I had seen on other gowns and they went the extra mile to make a ballroom bustle so the train was fully concealed in the gown for the reception - I even had guests ask if it was a new dress, the work was so incredible! I couldn't be happy with the alterations and how perfectly my gown fit! Additionally, Fariba was incredibly accommodating with my schedule as I don't live in the area and had to move around some appointments. She was kind and easy to work with! -

Fariba is a genius, wizard, expert, etc. I seriously cannot recommend her enough. Anything you need altered or tailored, no matter how big or small, you can absolutely trust Fariba.
You always hear these horror stories of wedding gown alterations gone wrong, so of course I was nervous about dropping off my dress.
Fariba instantly erased my fears. She and her team are an army of experts, with extremely talented and experienced hands. She took my dress that I was already in love with and when she was done altering it, it was like it was sewn together on my body, that's how perfect it was.
The length, perfect. The bustle was BEAUTIFUL. She did a French bustle, so the detailing in the back was preserved. I had a very fitted dress and she altered it in a way that really showed off my figure but gave me tons of movement for dancing. I never want to take it off.
Fariba, thank you. Your work made me feel like a princess. You are amazing. -

I was so nervous about finding the perfect alteration company after purchasing my dream dress. Once I had visited Fariba, all those nerves disappeared. The staff there were fantastic and extremely knowledgeable. Their talent and experience really showed in the completion of my dress. They made it fit perfectly, and the hem and bustle were perfect! I highly recommend.

They were so friendly, professional, accomodating, and flexible. Very talented seamstresses. I trusted them fully. They had great suggestions but also listened to my desires and concerns. They made my dress look like it was made for me; it felt like a glove and I felt so beautiful and confident in it. They did the usual hemming and taking in, etc. but they also created a beautiful bow on the back of my belt and added cups inside the dress. It was georgeous. -

Amazing service and turnaround!
They did an amazing job! I had put on the "covid-19" literally and my dress didn't zip anymore. They didn't even bat an eye they had my dress taken out and even added a few things things to make sure it fit like a glove! Amazing work! -

I wouldn't trust anyone else in coastal VA to alter my dress! I drove from Hampton to see Fariba and her team because I heard they were the best, and they definitely exceeded all of my expectations! My dress was altered to perfection! These ladies knew every single thing that needed to be done before I could even figure our which part of my dress didn't fit right. I was in tears during my final dress fitting because it was so beautiful and perfect. Fariba has been so sweet and loving throughout this entire process, and I couldn't thank her and her team enough! I even ended up driving back to Richmond so they could clean and preserve my dress. I trust them with any dress related service now! Thank you ladies! -

If I could give Fariba 10 stars, I would. Two weeks before my wedding, I ended up buying a new dress off the rack because I was unhappy with the custom dress I had previously purchased elsewhere. I was stressing about the extremely last-minute decision, but Fariba took on my project enthusiastically and assured me I didn't need to worry. She even fit me in to appointments to accommodate my work schedule, and everyone in the shop was so kind and eager to help. Fariba turned the size 8 dress into a size 0, raised the neckline for more coverage, fixed a broken strap, and bustled it beautifully - the end result was a dress that looked like it was custom made for me. Not only did it fit perfectly, but it turned out more beautiful than I ever imagined. It truly was my dream dress, and I received countless compliments on it. Fariba is so talented, so sweet, and a total lifesaver. Whatever your alteration needs are, you will not regret going to Fariba! -

Fariba is so warm and welcoming and she made me feel special from the very first day I met her! The alterations that were done to my dress included taking some lace from part of the dress and putting it in other places on the dress. The work was so beautifully done that it wasn't possible to tell the dress hadn't been made that way!! Such a talented group of people and such a wonderful experience!! -

LOVE Fariba!!
Fariba made all my wedding dress dreams come true!!! I have always known that I wanted to wear my mom’s dress. My mom was married over 30 years ago, so I was disappointed but not surprised to find that the dress was very yellow. It also wouldn’t zip up in the back, so I took it into Fariba with low hopes. However, Fariba was such a godsend. She assured me that she could completely re-do the dress to make it exactly how I wanted it. And she did!! She somehow made it vibrantly white and was even able to re-use all the material from my mom’s dress. Fariba completely understood my vision and brought it to life. I had multiple fittings because she wanted to make sure everything was absolutely perfect. I am so thankful that my wedding planner recommended Fariba! She was also a joy to work with and be around. If you are looking for someone to alter a wedding dress you bought or to completely re-do an old wedding dress, Fariba is your girl. Thank you, Fariba, for the amazing service!! -

I have to say, I was really nervous about getting my dress altered. I had ordered a dress with an empty illusion top that I wanted to have lace added to by Fariba. I was so afraid that I wasn’t going to be able to achieve the look I was after, and I had never worked with a seamstress before. Let me just say that Fariba put ALL of my concerns to rest. She was absolutely wonderful to work with, as was the rest of her staff.
Fariba met my requests with enthusiasm and expertise. I was able to describe what I wanted, and leave her enough creative liberty to achieve a beautiful look. The results were absolutely incredible. Additionally, Fariba made my veil herself - using the leftover lace from my dress. And the veil was absolutely perfect. She was fun to work with, she made me laugh, and I am over the moon with the results. Definitely recommend her and her team to any bride looking to have alterations done! -

They transformed the dress while still maintaining it's original integrity. They even managed to lengthen the dress, and you couldn't tell at all! The listened to me every step of the way to make sure the dress was exactly what I had in mind and every detail was taken care of. I was so comfortable and confident all day long, and my friends and family were all so impressed at the new creation we made from mom's dress! I loved the dress when I got it, but it needed a lot of changes, and she turned a beautiful dress into an even lovelier dress that looked tailored to me and custom to my style. She is incredibly talented, listens intently to all your needs and dreams/visions, and she continues to work on it if you are not satisfied. She was timely, easy to schedule with, great to get along with, and I even had her make a few keepsake handkerchiefs out of the dress materials. Do not look anywhere else for wedding dress alterations, Fariba is the best and it's worth the price to get it done right.

On the suggestion of the salon where I bought it, I bought my dress 3 sizes bigger than my street size and and then I lost weight. as a result, and due to my short stature, I needed a lot of alterations. the staff at Faribas was friendly, professional and knowledgable. in addition to doing beautiful work on my wedding gown, they were accommodating about letting me try on accessories and take photos during my fittings. I opted to have my dress pressed & steamed and it looked perfect on my wedding day. -
