Beautiful gardens, intimate feel
We chose the Falmouth Museums on the Green because our theme was A Midsummer Night's Dream and we wanted a magical, outdoor, nature-theme with an intimate feel, and a touch of nostalgia. Our families both have a history in whaling on Nantucket and the museum staff were kind enough to leave up the whaling ship paintings I asked them to. Know that, however, for a wedding, your guests are not allowed inside of the actual museums with artifacts and the contract states this fact. But there were many elements of history visible, the gardens were lush and colorful with winding paths we used for our procession. It was just the right atmosphere for us, and just the right price, very reasonable for 8 whole hours, given that we hired a caterer, bar service, and tent company as well.
Even with our guest list of 100 people, which is the MAX capacity, our family said it still felt intimate and close because the cultural center and vast green grounds allowed for people to spread out and move. Mark, the director, was so helpful in answering our questions and helped to set up some tables that they allowed us to use indoors for the DJ, gifts, the buffet, etc. The house manager Annie was also very helpful in setting up and went out of her way to help us clean up, even though it wasn't her job to do so. Be aware, this venue is not for loud or rambunctious party animals, because of the church and quiet neighbors next door in historic Falmouth. We were pretty tame, still had fun dancing to music, used a TIPS certified bar service, and overall loved our magical experience at the museums on the green. We chose the Falmouth Museums on the Green because our theme was A Midsummer Night's Dream and we wanted a magical, outdoor, nature-theme with an intimate feel, and a touch of nostalgia. My wedding was this past September at Museums on the Green and it was spectacular! The venue was beautiful and it is great place if you are having a small wedding and want something more on the simple side. My guests had such a great time as well! The staff was great to work with. They made the day incredibly easy for me. I would recommend this venue to anyone! You won’t be disappointedMy wedding was this past September at Museums on the Green and it was spectacular! Not a wedding, but a surprise 80th birthday party in August 2017. Everything was perfect from the start - and my mom still is talking about it 4 months later. We had about 30 guests and the staff of the Museums on the Green couldn't have been more accommodating or responsive with their time, expertise and general friendliness, especially Carolyn. Though we did no cooking ourselves, the kitchen was spotless, and the caterer (Roche Bros in Mashpee) knew the place and how the oven worked and it all worked out so well. Would absolutely recommend! This was a beautiful spot with a lot of options to choose from. Either have something inside or outside on the gardens was exactly what we were looking for. Carolyn was very helpful and easy to work with. The price was right and location was perfect. This was a beautiful spot with a lot of options to choose from. We used Falmouth Museums on the Green for our daughter's college graduation party. Carolyn was a pleasure to work with and Ellen, our day of coordinator was very fun and helpful. The in town location is very convenient and the flexible, charming grounds and intimate indoor space make for the perfect party location. We held our wedding ceremony outside on the greens in May. Everyone complimented on how beautiful it was, though, it helped that we had a gorgeous day, but the greens themselves are beautiful. We held it in front of the side of the Museum rather than in front of the gazebo. Best decision I made. The garden also made for some really great photos. Carolyn was very easy to work with, and answered all our questions and concerns promptly. I can honestly say that I would not change a thing about our ceremony, and you cannot beat the price! We held our wedding ceremony outside on the greens in May. Our ceremony at the Falmouth Museums couldn't have been easier. They are calm and accommodating. When our chairs didn't show up at the last minute they got out their own! It's a beautiful site as well, historic, and right in the centre of town so perfect for either having your reception there or elsewhere. Our ceremony at the Falmouth Museums couldn't have been easier. Carolyn Tarr as a representative was exceptional. However, the venue, Falmouth Museums on the Green, was only interested in rental monies received and an uncooperative venue in willingness to promote LyceumLIVE events in spite of our business membership and benefit to them of our bringing new attention to their location. In spite of the lovely atmosphere, would not recommend to any businesses for receptions.Carolyn Tarr as a representative was exceptional. Everything was great until the day of. The person they sent to open up the building for us and our caterer didn't show up until 40 Minutes before the start time! My husband was panicking because we couldn't get a hold of anyone, and note our contract clearly stated we would have 2 hours for set up and 1 hour for break down. We didn't even have music at our reception because we ran out of time to set it up, and the decorations ended up being sloppy as well. Then when we were cleaning up (Myself in my dress included) the representative from the museum made snide remarks about the bride helping. Yet she was rushing us to clean up and we were out of the building by 215 when we were supposed to have until 3pm for clean up. Also the venue is small, it only fits 45 people for dinner IF you do not have any kind of buffet table, table for drinks ect. We only had room to set up four tables.
While the Museum is great in of itself, I wouldn't risk using this venue for an important event.Everything was great until the day of.
