If you’re looking for a DJ that can do it all stop looking because DJ Mr. Duke is just that! He did an amazing job at our wedding from providing a beautiful personalized monogram, dancing on a cloud smoke effect to getting EVERYONE and yes I mean EVERYONE out on the dance floor! He was such a pleasure to work with and handled all of our requests and last minute changes like a pro! We are so grateful to have found such an amazing DJ that could make our wedding as fun as we imagined it to be!

I’ve used James for two parties and each time he has been punctual, professional, and so much fun. He played every song we requested and knew how to keep people on the dance floor. I will definitely be using James for all of our parties going forward!

Amazing! I can't wait to hire him again!
I just had my wedding this past weekend and had hired DJ Mr Duke for it and he was amazing! First of all, his setup just looks amazing! It looked so elegant unlike most DJ set ups! The lighting he added around the venue was awesome too and really added to the party vibe. He was awesome at following my list/suggestions and would change it up to get the party going. I've already given his contact info to a lot of my guests and my coordinator was SHOCKED she hadn't heard of him before! The photobooth was so much fun too and I loved getting a copy of all the photos my guests took too! On top of all of this - his price can't be beat either!! Definitely recommend!!!

Such a great DJ!
We hired DJ Mr. Duke for our wedding and he delivered! Our dancefloor never died down, the guests had an absolute blast. James was so easy to work with. The planning forms helped us put all our thoughts together. His setup also looked really sleek! Highlight recommend the lights package! Those looked amazing.

Amazing DJ
I hired James to work my wedding and he did an incredible job. He made sure that the timing of everything was spot on. He played every song we requested and had uplighting to make the space look extra magical. He included a photobooth that made for some wonderful pictures. He was punctual and flexible with our timing as far as schedule of events went (we were late to everything lol). He coordinated with our event coordinator and photographer (Mike Rathke -- https://www.weddingwire.com/biz/rathke-photography-humble/394e0926ec469828.html) to make sure everything was right on time. He also had some nice jams for when we didn't have requests. 5/5 stars, definitely would recommend.

Our Wedding 09 26 2021
DJ Duke was the best Dj. He was very professional and arrived on time for his setup. He was the DJ for our ceremony and reception. When I tell you all that he kept all of our guests on the floor dancing and didn’t miss a beat. Even as the night was winding down, my husband and I danced until the very last song. It was an absolute pleasure working with him and we will definitely use him for future events that we have. We highly recommend DJ Duke for all of your DJ needs.

Best Day Ever
We had DJ Mr. Duke as our DJ for our wedding on 8/9 and he was AWESOME! Not only the day of, but the time leading up to our wedding he was always in contact and with us every step of the way. Our original wedding was supposed to be on 3/27 and due to Covid we had to reschedule and luckily he was available on our new date. We had last minute time changes to our wedding start time at our venue and had to move rooms and he worked with our event coordinator and didn't skip a beat (no pun intended). Getting married during a pandemic is stressful enough, and having an amazing DJ who is great at what he does and understanding of last minute changes- made our day even better! Thanks so much DJ Mr. Duke for being so great!

Kept the party going all night long!
I got married January 18, 2020. Yes, it’s a bit late for a review, but I finally am going on my honeymoon (on our 1 year anniversary) and have time on the flight to thank my vendors. I initially found Events by Duke in a search on Thumbtack. Then I went and searched on Facebook and other platforms to see there were samples of the work that James did. Boy, I was IMPRESSED! I immediately contacted James and he was easy to work with. He answered all of my questions during the planning phase. On the day of the wedding, he truly impressed me! He was an awesome DJ and mood setter (up-lights)-- played every single song we requested, remixed our first dance song for us, and followed the script on all of the requested songs/dances/chants. He literally kept the party going ALL NIGHT! Our friends still talk about how amazing of a time they had dancing the night away. It was like we were all in college again (GO GATORS!)! I also can’t forget to mention that the up-lights he did for us truly set the mood of the party. If you are looking for a DJ who is easy to work with and truly keeps the party going, look no further! I highly recommend Events by DJ Duke!

Highly recommend working with Eventy by Duke for your event! We did a lot of research and he is the best price you will find for wedding DJ and Photobooth in Houston. DJ James offers professional and outstanding service while still keeping the planning process very easy with his online client Event Planner! Dj Duke did a great job. He arrived real early to set up. Never bothered any of us with phone calls or anything. We arrived and he was ready to go, very prepared. It was stress free. Hiring Events by Duke was one of the best decisions I made for my wedding ceremony and reception. DJ Duke aka Mr. James Williams was super easy to work with, professional and affordable. He came early, neat set-up and moved from outdoors to indoors with no issues. He knew to play all our prioritized songs, felt the room and was able to get 140 Vietnamese, Irish, Italians, African-Americans and Mexicans (adults plus kids) to all dance and had a blast with each other. I have heard nothing but great things about my DJ and thank him for all the smiles he put on the floor. His photobooth was also a big hit and lighting was on point. I would hire him again and DEFINITELY recommend.

Fantastic music all night!
We had Delvin (I hope I spelled that right) and Caesar DJ/MC our wedding last night. They really got the feel of exactly what we wanted the whole night. I got compliments from the guests about the music they played during cocktail hour and dinner. They also nailed the timing on some specific things we asked for during the ceremony. During the dancing portion of the night, they got the crowd going with some favorites and didn't hesitate to hype up the crowd as well during dancing lulls. They really knew how to keep the energy up. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a DJ with great value.

As a person that LOVES great customer service, Events By Duke was on it!!! I love when people respond promptly and work hard to make sure the customer feels totally at ease. Planning a wedding can be stressful but one area we didn't have to worry about was our DJ. He did everything we asked and made sure people stayed on the dance floor. I love that DJ Duke was able to Execute our wedding plan on such short notice. About 2 weeks before the wedding we had some missed Communication with a Prior Dj that left us without a DJ for the wedding. I was so thankful DJ Duke was still available !!! He saved the day. He had a list of important songs to play at the wedding and then we gave him free range to keep the party going. We had a great time dancing the night away. We also used his Uplighting services which made the venue look so beautiful I’m so glad we decided to have Uplighting . He was definitely great to work with I would recommend him to all brides because he listens to what the couples wants and can play a Variety of different music.

Events by duke kept everyone dancing the night away. He played the right music for each occasion, (into, cake cutting) and also played our requests. For the first dance he let my husband and I dance alone. I've heard some DJs encourage other couples to join in with the first dance, and I don't think that's appropriate. Do duke didn't do that.

DJ Duke was great to work with. We chose to use him relatively last minute and he was very flexible and accommodating. He met with us before the wedding to get to know us a little, our personalities and our musical tastes. He was very affable and easy to interact with. At the reception, he guided the musical selections based on what people responded well to, leading to an unplanned Fresh Prince group dance to Apache.
Overall, DJ Duke would be our easy choice if we had to plan a future event.

Events by Duke was one of the best vendors I worked with for my wedding. We used the reception package that included 4 hours of coverage and it was awesome. They were so flexible, so easy to work with, and so professional and kind throughout the whole process. I had to make a few audio edits to my father/daughter dance song and he was able to adjust the music accordingly. My videographers also mentioned that they were one of the best DJ's to work with! I highly recommend Events by Duke to everyone.

We should have made contact with DJs much earlier. On short notice, DJ Mr. Duke provided us with a lot of helpful resources to help plan our wedding beyond just the music. He was an absolute professional. On the big day in the heat of the moment, a lot of our scheduled plans got out of sequence and he was more than flexible. After the wedding, friends and family told my new wife and I that the ceremony and the party that followed was very of representative of the two of us. Thank you so much for being a part of our day. We appreciated your flexibility and professionalism. Everyone had such a great time dancing and playing in the photo booth. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ. He was so willing to go with the flow and played anything the guests requested. He definitely helped keep the party going all night long. Dj Duke was amazing!!!!! He kept the party going the entire wedding. Everything that I asked for he made it happen, I couldn't have booked a better DJ. He always responded to any questions I had prior and was even able to set up a meeting with me on my vision for my wedding! I can't wait to use him for future events! Duke was very helpful every step of the way. He responds to text and emails fast and answers the phone every time we called. He always has an answer to our questions and will do research to find an answer if need be. I will recommend him to anyone for any event.

One word to describe DJ Mr Duke! OUTSTANDING! If you are looking for a wedding DJ or DJ for any event, PLEASE use him. From start to finish he was amazing and never once questioned my selection. He was ALWAYS available to answer my emails/texts. He also offered great suggestions when I asked. Everyone is still talking about how they enjoyed the dancing and music selection. DJ Mr Duke really kept the party going. I never once had to ask him to change the music or anything. It's obvious that's he extremely experienced.
Services he provided at the wedding:
1 hour rehearsal (awesome)
Music 30 mins before ceremony start
cocktail hour - held outside
dinner- setup upstairs
dancing- setup downstairs
**** I had 3 different setups and he was flawless at transitioning.
Oh.... he also did a great job introducing the wedding party and announcing dinner and which tables to head to the buffet line.
Overall, I'm am still very impressed by DJ Mr Duke services. I could write all day but I must go.

James was awesome! He responded to all my emails/texts/phone calls IMMEDIATELY. He took care to pronounce my name correctly the first time we ever spoke. I didn't have time to plan what music I wanted played at the wedding so I gave him free reign and he did an excellent job. He got everyone on the dance floor for the final send off and it was such a fun and memorable experience. We also rented a Social Media Photo Booth from him for the night. The attendant was SO NICE and professional. She helped everyone change into costumes so that they could stay posing for the pictures. Our wedding was under a very tight budget but James worked with us to make our night special. Highly Recommend.

Events by Duke was the best choice and at a great value. He was very responsive and even took all the request from my family members. He answered text messages and emails almost immediately. Plus, his white DJ booth added an extra touch to our decor. He also provided our GOBO which was just gorgeous. I highly recommend him for your DJ needs.

DJ Duke met and exceeded expectations
James was our wedding DJ in March. We only provided him a short playlist and he built that out for the entire event. James was easy to work with and could read the room well. We liked how he transitioned from different types of music and he did a great job MCing and playing music for the ceremony. All in all, a talented, multifaceted DJ that you can trust. Highly reccomend.

Duke is a reasonable value if you're looking for a low-hassle and low-cost DJ. He has a convenient online system where you can make all of your requests on your own time without much back and forth. He honored all of our requests, but wasn't able to set up at the venue for cocktail hour like we had expected. There were a few minor issues like this, which is why he doesn't get five stars, but is overall a good price-to-quality ratio.

Underwhelming
DJ Duke started off great, but really let me down day of - he wasn't there at all. We spoke multiple times via e-mail and over the phone, including 3 days before our reception and were never told that he would be hiring out our wedding to another DJ. Our wedding was handled by his "friend", DJ C-Love, whose attention to detail and drive was very underwhelming.
- For our ceremony we were told we'd have a lapel mic - didn't happen
- DJ C-Love didn't turn on our Officiant's microphone - even after THREE tries to get his attention. Eventually the Officiant just yelled.
- We requested a classical dinner theme with low volume, and during dinner I (the groom) had to go ask him to turn down the music & switch the playlist because he was playing EDM & Dance music.
- Our wedding featured the Best Man and Maid of Honor as hosts for the evening, so his only job until the dance floor opened was to raise or lower the microphone volume. During dinner our Maid of Honor finished her speech, and he sat behind the booth eating for a solid 2 minutes before she walked up on stage and tapped him on the shoulder to turn the music back up. He made a gesture like "Woops, the food is good" which got a chuckle, but it was EXTREMELY awkward for my wife and I whom everyone looked at afterwards.
- There were 2 times during dancing that he went to mix into another song and instead turned the volume down, creating a silent gap in the music for 2 - 5 seconds that had everyone on the dance floor looking at eachother.
- It's now been one week since our event and DJ Duke has not followed up at all to ask our opinion or see how it went, which tells me he doesn't care.
Overall, coming from someone who also DJ'd weddings for two years - I chose this vendor to give a new/local business a chance and lets be honest save a bit of money. If I could go back, I'd have paid more for guaranteed quality. The fact that he never told us he wouldn't personally be there, or give us a chance to speak with the DJ who would combined with his replacement choice's lack of professionalism, I wouldn't hire Events by Duke again or recommend him to anyone who asks. It's a shame, I had much higher hopes :-(

Uplights were beautiful
Dance set kept people on the floor, and once it got started it ended up being a fun night.
