Jennifer was nothing short from the best! From the time we inquired all the up to the day of the wedding she was fantastic. Extremely knowledgeable and flexible and informative. After speaking with several Joshua Tree elopement photographers, we are SO glad that we chose Jennifer Whalen Photography! She is a true adventure wedding photographer at heart and was able to help us plan the most perfect and stress free elopement! She knew the ins and outs of the location, permits, timing, weather and truly brought everything together seamlessly which allowed us to be in the moment and enjoy our special day. In addition to the planning aspect, we LOVE how all of our photos and video came out. We are so grateful she was able to capture every detail and moment while we were able to just take it all in. She went above and beyond to capture every moment and is truly such a talented wedding photographer! In addition to her talent, she is super personable which is important because your photographer is part of your wedding day and Jennifer made the experience so much fun and truly such a memorable experience for us. Incredible!
Jennifer is absolutely amazing! We are thrilled that we came across her on Instagram. She was with me every step of the way with planning every detail for our micro wedding during the pandemic. Jennifer and Dan captured our day perfectly. We were so pleased with how quickly we got our edited pictures and completed video! I HIGHLY recommend them for any type of wedding. We now have a video and pictures that are so beautiful and it feels like we can relive the best day of our lives every time we see the pictures and watch the video💕 -

My husband and I felt we couldn't have made a better decision in choosing Jen and Dan for our engagement session and wedding photography. My first meeting with Jen and Dan, I was blown away. She had put together a timeline for our wedding day by that evening and emailed it to us. I knew from that moment that they were it!
Our engagement session location was at Elysian Park, their suggestion, of course. And we were amazed with the variety of photos we received from that shoot. Our wedding had to be postponed several times being another 2020 wedding and all. And Jen came in to save the day, yet again. Thanks to her and her team, we were able to find a new venue that accommodated our smaller than originally planned wedding. She was pretty much our wedding coordinator with all her knowledge, expertise, and recommendations. The wedding day went smoothly and our photos were epic!! I highly highly recommend Jen, Dan, and their team! They are such a cohesive and professional team. We hope to work with them again in the future! -

Jennifer and Dan are truly the nicest, most professional team you could ask for. I hired them for our wedding but due to COVID, the wedding date changed 3 times. Honesty by the third change I was not excited about the wedding at all but meeting with Jennifer for the final walk through changed everything. She is well networked in the wedding community so she can find a solution to most/if not all problems you are experiencing because of COVID. Cannot thank her and Dan enough for caring about our special day. It's more than an event for her, she genuinely cares about your wedding. 10/10 -

I cannot recommend Jennifer and Dan enough. We had to totally change our wedding plans due to COVID at the last minute and we found Jennifer through an ad. We ended up having a wedding with no one but ourselves, an officiant, and Jennifer and Dan. We thought the day was going to feel sad, but they did such an incredible job capturing our day, that we are elated. Dans' video work and editing is some of the best. Jennifer's attitude and knowledge made the day easy, and she did a great job posing us and creating so many beautiful moments. We had to replan our wedding at the last minute, and we're so happy we found Jennifer. -

It's been over a year and a half but I figured better late than never! We had a great experience working with Jennifer. We hired Espresso for videography on our wedding day. When we saw their work on their site, we were blown away and decided to book them even though they were a bit out of our price range. After booking, we met with Jennifer to get to know her a bit. She was kind and direct. In all our communications via email & phone from our initial meeting to the wedding day she continued to be helpful & straight to the point. Any time anything resembling an issue would arise she always had a solution ready. On the day of the wedding, she was the picture of professionalism. All of our friends & family remarked on how much they never noticed she was there, which in my book is one of the highest complements you can pay a photographer or videographer. In my opinion, one of the worst things that can happen at a wedding is having a videography that is so in the way of the big moments, everyone is distracted by their presence. Jennifer was invisible and she still caught all of the most important moments. About two months after the wedding, she gave us our highlight video, all our raw footage, and the edited chapters of our wedding (that last one was just as a gift!). In my completely biased opinion, our highlight video was a masterpiece. It perfectly captured how we remembered the day. We’ll forever be grateful to Jennifer and if you know what’s good for you, you’ll hire her too! -

We hired Jen to take our engagement photos out in Joshua Tree. She straight up SLAYED every photo, spent so much time with us, and was so fun to work with. I cannot recommend her enough. I say this as an art director who works with photographers on photo shoots all the time at my job... hire this woman! You won't regret it. -

Professional, responsive and easy to work with!
Wedding planning can be stressful, and my fiance and I did a lot of research to pick vendors. We knew photography was an area we didn't want to skimp on, yet we still wanted to stay within a reasonable budget. The memories of the day are so important, so we had to find someone we trusted. We researched many vendors on wedding wire and came across Espresso because we really loved their wedding videos. We exchanged some emails and we had tons of questions, and they were always responsive. We met with Jennifer and Dan at a local coffee shop. We liked their friendly personalities and how well they seemed to work together in answering our questions. Jennifer is the photographer and Dan does the videography.
After we booked them, we exchanged many more messages and Jennifer was always responsive. She also agreed to meet us at the venue during the final walk through in order to scout the location. It worked well because she was able to talk to the venue manager to clear up some questions and we also got to walk on the grounds with her to get some photo ideas.
Fast forward to the day of wedding and Jennifer and Dan were on top of their game. They worked together so well, and alternated between photo and video without missing a beat. I could tell they both had their visions and were very focused on getting all the shots they needed. With the help of our planner, we had a very detailed timeline including the names of all of the family to be photographed, so that really made the formal family shots go much more smoothly. Jennifer did a great job wrangling all the guests, and also of taking the special shot we wanted of all of the guests right after the ceremony. This is where my new husband and I walked down to the end of the aisle, followed by the wedding party and immediate family, and all the guests turned around, and Jennifer got on a ladder to take the group shot. They also have this fun photo op called "table races" where they have us run to each table right after the grand entrance, accompanied by fast paced music. This was a great way to get those photos with each table done within the first 5 minutes of the reception! After looking through the photos (there were almost 1,000!), I saw so many wonderful shots of the memories of that day, many of them candid, and realize that we probably didn't even notice they were there capturing those shots, but that's a testament to just how unobtrusive they were.
Jennifer was able to get us all of the photos and the raw video files within 2 weeks after the wedding. We are told the edited highlight video will take couple of months, and we can't wait for that! -

Made my dreams come true!
I was so nervous leading up to my wedding in hopes of capturing every moment. The wedding lasts a day but your photos and videos last a lifetime. Jennifer and Dan impressed us beyond words! They were EVERYWHERE and got every photo but at the same time they stayed behind the scenes! She is truly such a professional and photos and videos were even better than we expected. Directed family and friends to get all the proper shots. Put the bride and groom first! She captured every moment, kept us to a schedule, guided us on our day when our coordinator fell short/ disappeared. I highly highly recommend Jennifer! And will cherish our photos and videos forever!!! -

Jennifer and Dan were amazing. We were looking for photos to capture natural photojournalistic candid moments in our wedding, but also had many set family photos and multiple locations around our venue that we wanted to capture. Because of their organization and good teamwork, we were able to get all of the pictures we asked for! There was also heavy rain in the morning (which luckily cleared up by the ceremony), and they were able to make some last second adjustments and decisions to maximize our chances to take some beautiful photos. Jennifer was extremely efficient and organized: she communicated very frequently leading up to the wedding and scouted the locations beforehand so that we had a good plan for the actual day and never felt rushed. They went above and beyond what we expected, delivering over 1000 edited photos within a week after the wedding! Dan captured some fun shots with the drone despite the inclement weather, and we were grateful he was able to provide us edited chapters of the entire ceremony and reception in addition to a wonderful highlight video. We enthusiastically recommend Espresso Photography! -

Preston Sent on 12/05/2017Jennifer and Dan are the perfect photo/video duo. They were kind and patient from the first day that my wife and I met them at the trade show.
Jennifer makes is so easy to be on camera with her. I personally don't like taking photographs and she somehow got me to smile and through focusing on my wife caught the perfect moments to show our kids someday
Dan is a master with the camera. He doesn't need bulky equipment or a team of 4 to create a masterpiece that will perfectly capture the magic at your wedding.
Our family photos before the wedding were of course a bit chaotic, but my wife and I felt so at ease because Jen and Dan were leading it all and keeping us calm the whole time.
When the time came for the wedding, I didn't notice them at all. It wasn't until after the wedding that I realized they were catching those small moments... my wife and I hiding from everyone to steal a kiss, my mom and I sharing a hug before we walk in.... they definitely know what they are doing.
I highly recommend Jen and Dan to any couple getting ready to tie the knot. I also HIGHLY recommend the video for both the wedding and the engagement shoot. We were on the fence about the video for the engagement shoot, but it really hyped everyone up for our wedding day and it was worth every penny!

They are a great duo and were crucial in helping us to structure our special day and to make sure we stuck to our schedule. They were really detailed and knew all the right questions to ask. No leaf went unturned! On the day of, Jenn and Dan were both super professional AND fun to work with, which is especially important since weddings can be very stressful. We could not be happier with the way our photos and video turned out!

We planned our Palm Springs wedding from afar while living in New York, so all communication with Espresso Weddings was done through email. Jennifer is prompt, clear, and incredibly easy to work with. We had video and photo coverage for both the rehearsal dinner evening and wedding day, and both Jennifer and Dan made us feel completely at ease being in the spotlight. Moreover, they were fun, proactive, and seamlessly worked with our wedding party as well as other vendors (caterer, DJ, etc) to capture all the amazing moments of the weekend. This is particularly noteworthy as we did not have any wedding planner or day of coordinator and the Espresso Weddings team helped make sure we weren't stressing about any coordination details on the big day. We cannot say how pleased we are with the outcome of all their hard work. The photos and highlight video are nothing short of magic. Would give 10 stars if we could. Thank you, Jennifer and Dan!!! -

I never imagined our photos would turn out as unbelievably perfect as they did. The only reason Jen isn't photographing our wedding is because we're getting married out of state, but I would book her in a heartbeat if our wedding was closer. She is a PHENOMENAL photographer and does some of the best work I've ever seen. My family and friends were stunned at the quality. Her responsiveness and turnaround time were exceptional as well. She captured so many incredible shots and has shared some of them on her blogpost. Not only was she the perfect addition to our photography duo but I loved the way Nick and I officially met her in person which must have been a sign that she was meant to be!

Jacki Sent on 04/20/2014Jennifer captured our wedding day perfectly! Our photographs are beautiful and really show the excitement and emotion of the day. Jennifer took all of the photographs that we asked and had many more great ideas.
She was very responsive to questions and emails.
Jennifer is very professional. She was energetic and ready to work from the moment she arrived in the morning for hair and make up until she left well into the dance. She was there to capture our entire day and offered great advice for the day in general as well as choosing some locations to take photos and hang out between the ceremony and reception.
One thing that we really loved about Jennifer is that while she was there and attentive the whole day, we were not constantly taken away to pose for photos. She took photos of us celebrating with our friends and family.
Overall, I definitely recommend Jennifer! She is responsive, creative and wonderful person to share your wedding day with! -

A true professional!
She knew exactly how to open us up, even at an over 6ft distance! We got married during quarantine, and finding a place was difficult. But she was patient and made it happen for us! She found an incredible location and these memories are incredibly meaningful. -
