Some of the best cake I've ever had!

Our originally baker fell through. We met with Carl and his team at their bakery less than six months before our wedding in December last year, and we are SO happy they had our date still available but even more happy our original baker didn’t pan out. Our tasting was great and was some of the best cake I have ever tasted, which means something coming from me because I’m not a big cake person. In fact, I originally wanted to do pies for our wedding and Eccentric International Chef’s tasting changed my mind on the spot. We also ordered cookies from them for our reception, as well, and they were a huge hit. We are so happy we went with them for our wedding cake, and I look forward to buying some other sweets from them the next time we are in the area!

Beautiful cake / delicious

I have always ordered birthday cakes from this bakery. So when it came time to order a wedding cake I did not hesitate to book a tasting appointment. I gave them a picture of what I wanted my cake to look like and scheduled my delivery. I was so delighted to see my cake was just as I had ordered. It was so delicious! The delivery was on time and they placed the items I made for the cake perfectly.

Delicious and beautiful cake!

They recently made our wedding cake for 10/14/23 and did an amazing job! They were such a sweet and personable couple to work with and you can tell they take a lot of pride in their work! We definitely recommend them!!!! Thank you!

Amazing all around!

Carl and Melina were the easiest to work with. We met with Melina to go over the cake design and flavors. We did not plan to go with the flavors that we did, but their cakes are AMAZING!!! Their pricing was extremely fair and they even offer a free cake on your first wedding anniversary (so you don't have to save the top tier for a year later). They were able to make an amazing cake based on pinterest inspiration. They called about one week prior to the wedding to confirm details and remained professional throughout. Delivery went off without a hitch. We would absolutely recommend to anyone getting married in the area. We wish we lived closer so we could enjoy their treats on a regular basis!

Reasonable & flexible

Beautiful and Delicious Cake, no compromise

Our wedding is in October, but our initial cake tasting was great. Their cake tastes better than four other popular bakeries in San Diego and they are a family run business. We really feel the baker took our descriptions and personalities into the design of our cake. We can’t wait to see it! Was also very willing to make all three tiers different cakes and fillings.

Delicious Dessert

Everything was delicious.

We opted out of a traditional tiered wedding cake and instead got a small cutting cake with mini-desserts. Everyone loved the variety and flavor of each of the different desserts. BONUS: They also set up the dessert table for me which was a great help.

Highly recommend this family owned bakery!

We recently ordered our wedding cake and 100 cupcakes from Eccentric International Bakery. The staff here was super friendly each time we visited the bakery to provide payment, or colors, or discuss changes. On the day of the ceremony they arrived punctually, unloaded the cake and cupcakes onto the display area provided and left. If I wouldnt have been in passing when the vehicle was out front, I wouldnt have even known they were there. They arranged everything in advance and didn't need to even talk to me the day of the wedding. The cake and cupcakes all looked beautiful and tasted even better! We got married 10 days ago and we're still eating the cake. Its still delicious! The extra cupcakes went to work with us and we got several compliments from guests at the wedding as well as coworkers (several days after they were baked). They're prices were very affordable and helped us save a good amount of money on our expensive day. We would highly recommend working with them! I have been told that 5 stars is "standard" for wedding vendors that performed their duties as expected. I would definitely give more that 5 stars if I could!

The cake tasting experience was a lot of fun & they made our cake exactly how we wanted it. It tasted delicious and was there on time. They even offered to make a free anniversary cake, so we wouldn't have to partake in the "yucky" tradition of
freezing the top layer of the cake to eat in a year! Would definitely recommend their cakes!!

We found Eccentric Cakes though our venue and we are glad we did. It is a small little shop that just had this family feel to it. We really enjoyed the cake tasting process. The cakes were fantastic. I think one of the best parts about working with Eccentric Cakes is that the owners have a friendship with our wedding coordinator. So we didn't have anything to worry about with the cake arriving. It tasted great and looked beautiful!

Plus they said they will make us a cake for our 1st wedding anniversary instead of saving our top tier of our cake for a year.

We were recommended to Karl and Meline when we booked our wedding venue at the El Camino Country club. I had met them at the Wedding show, that was held at this same venue, in January 2015. The sample cakes were to die for. Everything was so moist and delicious. So when it came to choosing what we wanted to do for our wedding, we knew that we had chosen the best. We provided the stands and the mason jars, and the cupcake holders, and they did a beautiful piece of artwork setting it all up for our guests to "ooohhh and aaahhh" over. We were provided with such a beautiful yummy cake and cannot wait for our anniversary cake. Thank you Meline and Karl.

Eccentric International Chef's did a wonderful job on our wedding cake. Carl and Melina had us from the beginning; we met them at a second wedding expo we attended; they are genuine friendly, easy to communicate with, very attentive, they remembered us from the expo! That’s how attentive to detail they are. So happy we chose them!
They made planning and ordering the wedding cake a fun event. All of the cakes we tasted from them that day were amazing – thankfully we decided on a three layer, white with Bavarian cream and apricot filling and white with Bavarian cream with raspberry filling. I called them two or three times to make sure about the cake stand dimensions; the staff was very friendly, and very helpful.
On the wedding day, the beautiful cake was delivered as scheduled and promised. By the end of the night the cake was all gone! Not a single piece left! That’s how good the cake was. Our wedding guests are still raving about the cake, it’s been over a month since we got married.
We would hire them for every event we ever plan again. I would highly recommend Eccentric International Chefs. We cannot wait to go back next year for our 1 year anniversary cake – they don’t want us to have frozen cake! Love it.

I tried samples of their cake at a bridal convention. There was approximately 15 cake vendors at this convention, and Eccentric had the best tasting for sure! I am booking them for my wedding solely based on how amazing their cakes tastes and the quality.

OBSESSED with our wedding cake!! It was so delicious and so so soooooo pretty!! They hit it on the head when I brought in a photo of what we wanted! OMG so good!! Eccentric has made many cakes for my family in the past including my brother's custom wedding cake.. Never disappointed!

Loved, loved, loved my wedding cake. And their employess! Our cake was so good - we went with buttercream icing and apricot filling as it was over 90 degrees the day of our wedding. The cake held up beautifully for our 5pm reception which lasted 10 hours. It was beautiful and exactly what I ordered. Thankfully, they called when we didn't show up for pick up. It was perfect and delicious.

Working and Chefs Carl and Melina in order to attain the perfect wedding cake was extremely easy! The cake design was beautiful and the cake, itself, tasted great. We have been asked by many guests where the cake was ordered. The bakery is affordable and feed many (ie. 270 guests) for a great price!

We recently celebrated our daughter's wedding 5/24/14. Just can't thank the staff at Eccentric International Chef's for the wonderful job they did on the wedding cake. The staff was so nice and helpful. The happy couple got a cake that was beautiful and, more importantly, delicious. All the wedding guest made sure to tell us how much they enjoyed the cake. The added bonus at Eccentric is the prices are so affordable and have a very minimal delivery fee. I would highly recommend Eccentric International Chefs. Thanks again.

We had an outdoor wedding ceremony at a park overlooking the beach and then a dinner reception at a restaurant. Because of our San Diego/beach-y theme, we designed a cake with Melina that featured sugar corals and seahorses on the top and chocolate covered strawberries decorating the space between the two layers (we had spacers rather than stacking them).

Everything turned out beautifully! It was a unique, gorgeous cake that also tasted really good! We had two layers of white cake with a lemon filling on the top and a raspberry filling on the bottom. I really like their cakes because, since Carl is European, it's not super sweet like American cakes. This suited the tastes of my family really well since many of them are from Vietnam and find American desserts to be far too sweet.

The delivery to the restaurant where the reception was was prompt, and the cake arrived in perfect condition!

Wedding cake is usually so dry, and the fondant is gross and no one eats it. Except when you come here, people are eating multiple slices of it! We made the best decision of coming here for our wedding cake, and we had absolutely no left overs (which was such a bummer because I was looking forward to eating some!!). We've received so many compliments on our cake from how beautiful it was to how delicious it was. THANK YOU for making us an amazing wedding cake!! We can't wait to come here for cakes for all occasions! :)

When I was walking around the bridal show, I met the chef. He was so personable, which was refreshing after meeting many others who were too pushy. He took time to explain the different samples of cake I was trying and even gave a discount card if I booked soon after the show. The samples were the best at the show. When my husband (then fiancé) and I went to the bakery to finalize our wedding cake and groom's cake, everyone was just as great! We got a 3 tiered wedding cake and a Steelers Terrible Towel groom's cake. Both were so perfect and delicious!

I never knew wedding cake could taste so delicious! The Eccentric International Chef bakers make the most decadent flavors and were priced very competitively. My three layer cake had chocolate with chocolate ganache, white cake with fresh strawberries and Bavarian cream, and white cake with lemon custard and a raspberry ribbon. It was AMAZING!
They also make you a first anniversary cake so you doing have to eat some year old frozen cake, which I liked very much.

The bakery was very professional and the food was delicious. Their police on the 1 year anniversary cake is awesome. Who wants to eat 1 year old frozen cake? Not us.

My wedding cake was beautiful! Eccentric did a wonderful job of designing our cake when I didn't really have a set idea of what I wanted. IT was so yummy that there was hardly any left after the wedding. People actually took some home with them it was so good.

This was one of my favorite vendors! iI was on a very tight budget and needed to keep the cost low on my cup cakes. They worked with me on cost and gave me everything that I wanted. I even called in about a week or two befor the wedding and almost doubled my order and they were ok with it! I was always greated with a smile and the cupcakes were fantastic!!!!!!

LOVED using Eccentric International for our wedding cake! My cake was gorgeous, and tasted amazing. I loved the cake tasting, this place really cares about their customers. It wasn't busy and crowded like some other bakeries we visited, and I felt like we really got the attention we needed to feel comfortable ordering our cake. We had help with the design, and it was even drawn up for us to see.

Not sure if it was because we had our reception at Karl Strauss and Eccentric was one of their vendors, but we only had 4-5 cake options. Other bakeries did offer us more flavors. Still, the flavors we did choose were the best! The raspberry/lemon sold me and helped make my decision. I'll definitely be back to order a cake for our first anniversary (because no way was I freezing our top, we ate it all!)

After a few cake tasting appointments at the expensive bakeries we decided to give Eccentric a shot. SO glad we did! their cakes taste amazing! They were VERY helpful, willing to work on a budget and use our design that we created by looking thru their books. We will be using them for all our cake needs from here on out...wedding referrals, birthdays, showers, etc.

My cake was delicious and beautiful. It was exactly what I asked for and more. The owners are very professional and extremely helpful. I received a coupon from the Bridal Bazaar and that helped bring the price to something a couldn't pass up. They were great! I used them for our day-of lunch as well so we would have food to snack on while getting ready.

Our wedding cake was perfect. Eccentric International was the perfect place to get our cake. Not only did it taste wonderful, but it looked fantastic and was very resonably priced. It is a family owned company and they are extremely friendly and helpful whenever you need them. I would highly recommend them for your wedding cake.

Cake was delicious. A friend of mine had asked where we got our cake and I told her that we got it at Eccentric International Chef and she said it was really good. A lot of the guests at our wedding enjoyed the cake. I recommend this cake place to anyone having a wedding or special party that calls for great and delicious cake.

I love this bakery. They have great, tasty cakes and are really friendly and easy to work with. However, do not be stupid, like me, and pick a chocolate ganache icing for an outdoor, October wedding. The cake was kept indoors until the start of the reception but that did not keep it from melting. The chocolate started to drip down the sides and the cake looked like it might topple over. But we cut it pretty soon after the start of the reception, so it was ok. The cake still tasted delicious.

Delicious but wrong colors

We had our cake and cupcakes made here and the cupcakes were delicious. Our main cake though was a bit too sweet than we remembered at our tasting. The main cake was a little off on our colors. Our colors were black, copper, and burgundy.....our cake they made was pink, black, and white. They were very fast in delivering our cake and cupcakes. We didn't see them come in, all of the sudden our cakes were sitting there. Despite the wrong color of cake, our overall experience and the deliciousness of the cupcakes is enough to recommend them for all your celebration needs.

Carl was very attentive to details and made sure he was providing exactly what we wanted. Everyone loved the cake and it looked just beautiful! Great value for the price! We will definitely use him again.

This bakery is awesome! They were suggested to me by several friends and then I also met them at the Bridal Bazaar and tasted a couple of samples.

We went in for our tasting and everything was amazing! They were so easy to work with, they let us make payments (we were on a strict budget), and they let us make changes whenever we wanted. The cake was just as awesome the day of our wedding as it was at the tasting. And the cake turned out beautiful, we wanted something simple and sophisticated, and it was the cake of my dreams! Everyone there is friendly and I felt like I was dealing with friends rather than a business. I have already recommended them to everyone I know! I suggest checking them out at the bridal bazaars because they give you a 30% off coupon. My cake cost around $350 and served over 100 guests, and my whole top tier was left over!

Melina and Carl of Eccentric International Chefs of Santee ade the most delicious cake I have ever tasted. This was one of the most important things to me, to make sure we had good wedding cake and that it was beautiful. We got a 4 tier, with 4 different flavors. I got the best compliments about the cake. I tried at least 8 vendors before deciding that Eccentric had both the best tasting cakes AND were the best price which I thought would be impossible to find! Their shop is nothing to brag about, in a not so great neighborhood, but the drive was WELL worth it! They delivered it to the venue without any problems and we reused flowers from the ceremony to put on the cake to finish it off. It was beautiful and delish!

The cakes here are DELICIOUS!!! I found them through one of the huge bridal showcases. Both Melina and Carl are very friendly and will sit and work out a design that you would like. It was hard to communicate via email, so the best is to call them.
My husband and I did not save the top piece of our wedding cake, it was way to delicious to do so. We'll just buy a mini cake from them when our 1-year anniversary comes around.

A cake by Eccentric was included with my wedding package at Karl Strauss. Melina and Carl were wonderful to work with, but the cake wasn't what I pictured. It looked okay, but the decorations were more sparse than in the sketch. I would recommend buttercream frosting over fondant...the fondant on my cake had a lot of bubbles.

Even though it's a little difficult to reach them over email - just phone in, and you're taken care of in a heartbeat. The cake tasted amazing!!! We provided a photo of what we wanted the cake to look like, and it didn't look much like the photo, however, it still looked decent. In the end, you just can't beat the taste. We got so many questions about where we got our cake, because it was just that good! Light, fluffy, and perfectly sweet. YUM!

We bought our wedding cake from Eccentric International Cakes and we were pleased with the cake. When we booked a cake tasting they only had 7am on a Saturday available, which was strange to me. When we showed up, they were surprised we showed, which I found odd. The tasting was delicious and we got a two tier strawberry and bavarian cream with buttercream frosting. My biggest complaint is that they showed up too close to the ceremony. We had to call to ask where they were and stressed out me, my mother-in-law and my florist who was waiting for them to show. The price seemed pretty good and it tasted really great! My reception hall didn't serve our cake to anyone else, so I was bummed no one else got to try it.

my wife and I were really excited for our mini pastries and fruit tray for our wedding however the delivery was cancelled last minute and the fruit tray was very disappointing. it was something I could have cut up and put on a platter. save your money and find another bakery.
