Stephan is an amazing officiant!
Stephan was the officiant for my wedding on October 18th 2025 and I have to share what an amazing job he did. He was easy to communicate with, attentive and thorough to make sure our ceremony is personal and exactly what we wanted. We received the most compliments on our ceremony because of how perfect it was and actually had people ask for copies of the ceremony because the words he spoke touched so many there. He showed up to rehearsal and made sure we all knew what we were doing and answered any questions that anyone had! 10/10 recommend Stephan for any newly engaged couples looking for their officiant!!!

Dr. Smith was great to work with, and we highly recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding officiant - whether a simple ceremony or more elaborate! We originally started planning a large wedding, but our plans changed, and we decided to go with an intimate wedding this year - meaning some last-minute planning. Dr. Smith was extremely accommodating in making it work with his schedule and brought great expertise to the table in locations to use and running the short and sweet ceremony. We had the absolute pleasure of having Stephan officiate our wedding, and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect person to lead such an important part of our day. From our first meeting, Stephan had a genuine interest in our story, interests and how we'd like the ceremony to play out.
He made recommendations on what's traditional, what's not and what's trending. This was very helpful and helped us understand the specific script we wanted to take. He also provided several sample scripts that we could read through. These helped us craft the perfect flow. The ceremony ended up being beautiful with the perfect blend of humor, sentiment, and tradition.
Stephan's delivery was heartfelt and engaging, capturing the attention and emotions of all our guests. Many of our friends and family commented on how lovely and unique the ceremony was, and we owe that to Stephan.

My husband Tyler and I could not be more happy with how Dr. Smith worked with us during our wedding planning/rehearsal process, and how well he officiated on the big day. He worked with us before the wedding to help craft our ceremony, and was very helpful by providing several excellent examples for us to draw inspiration from. We had a non-religious wedding, and using the examples he sent us, we were able to craft a wonderful ceremony we were both happy with. He is very responsive, extremely thorough with all the important information we needed to know as an engaged couple, and extremely easy to work with. He was extremely flexible with what we wanted implemented in our ceremony, I changed my mind several times throughout the process and he was accommodating every time. We were also planning our wedding out of state, and this was never an issue during the planning process with him. When it came to the big day he spoke very eloquently, all our friends and family were raving about how beautiful the ceremony was. He helped run our rehearsal, while also communicating back and forth with our wedding coordinator, which made us feel much more comfortable come the day of the actual wedding, we worried for nothing knowing it was in good hands! We would highly recommend hiring Dr. Smith to officiate your wedding, we could not be happier with how our day turned out, we will look back fondly on our decision to have him officiate for us.

An officiant who truly loves what he does!
My husband and I decided to have a small elopement ceremony with family 6/12/23. Unfortunately closer to the date our officiant was no longer available! I read Stephan's reviews online and decided to reach out to him and I am so glad I did. He was responsive and very approachable over the phone. We met for the first time on the day of the ceremony and he was such a delight, he has such a radiating positive personality. Dr. Smith officiated our May wedding and did a great job! He initially provided us with templates to build our ceremony around and worked with us to craft the finished product. We received so many compliments from our guests! He was very responsive to questions, and spoke with us via video chat multiple times leading up to our wedding. He also came to our rehearsal the day before, to help us practice for the big day. After the ceremony, he provided us with a beautiful copy of the text as a keepsake. We highly recommend Dr. Smith!

There are no words we can use to describe Dr. Smith other than amazing! Our wedding was on May 20, 2022 after two long years of waiting through the pandemic to finally be able to celebrate with our loved ones.
He really took the time to sit with us and get to know us and who we are as a couple. He was funny, understanding, and passionate. He really cares about the people he works with and he will do his very best to make your special day exactly what you want it to be!
He was extremely kind, understanding, and helpful. Even made sure to remind us to breathe when we forgot about it (haha).
10/10 would recommend to all family, friends, acquaintances, or strangers. Call him!!!

Great experience!
Stephan was our officiant on 3/6/22. He was very warm and easy to work with from the start! We put together our ceremony using some examples he provided to us, and was very responsive to our questions and helpful in making sure things flowed correctly for what we wanted in the ceremony. He was helpful during the rehearsal, and we also appreciated the personalized keepsake he made for the ceremony.

Very great ceremony and personalized to me and my husband. He was very communicative prior to the wedding, which was very helpful. He is very nice and helped make us both less nervous the day of the wedding. He showed up on time and is a very positive person to have around on the big day. He was very friendly and made conversation with my parents at the rehearsal. I am very happy we hired him as he is a very crucial part of our wedding. 10/10.

I would have not thought my ceremony to be my favorite part of our big day! Dr. Smith strived to make our ceremony prompt about US and even offered ideas that I did not think of but loved! There was not a dry eye in the crowd but yet there were many laughs too. Dr. Smith is professional, timely, and genuinely cares about you loving your ceremony, as you should! Also, I am definitely not an expert on the legal process to which he definitely explained it in a way I can understand. I would recommend him over again!

Amazing ceremony done by Dr. Smith
We were truly honored to work with Dr. Smith as a part of our 10/17/21 wedding!! He did such a phenomenal job and my husband and I couldn't have asked for a better officiant to conduct our wedding ceremony. He was extremely professional and kind towards us and all of our guests. He had such a great demeanor. He allowed my husband and me to customize our entire ceremony and worked with us to perfect it. Dr. Smith gifted us a beautiful keepsake pamphlet of our entire ceremony which was extremely special to us. We could not have landed on a better person to officiate our wedding! Dr. Smith was so amazing! I cannot believe our luck with stumbling across him from simply doing some online researching and going through his reviews. He is so quick to respond. Makes the whole process so seamless and truly customizes your ceremony to make it exactly how you prefer! He is flexible, professional, and kind. Due to COVID and distance, we only met him once over a video chat before our rehearsal. Didn't even matter. Seeing him in person for the first time the day of rehearsal didn't even feel odd. It felt like we had known him for a while! He truly makes you feel so comfortable! I would recommend him to anyone!

Wonderful Officiant!
Dr. Smith was a wonderful officiant! We found him at kind of the last minute - he already had a rehearsal booked on the day of our wedding, but he still worked with us, even though the scheduling was very tight. He helped us craft the perfect ceremony, took all of our requests into account, and was able to roll with it when we had a last-minute snafu right before walking down the aisle. Dr. Smith officiated our wedding on May 29th, 2021 and I cannot give him enough praise! During our planning Dr. Smith was quick to respond and very helpful. He took his time to walk us through our rehearsal and help calm our nerves (despite the 53 degrees and rain). For us, the ceremony was the most important and special part of our day. Therefore, we absolutely loved that we were able to customize our ceremony and make it our own. I think almost all of our guests commented on what a beautiful ceremony it was - even a relative of mine who also officiates weddings. I HIGHLY recommend Dr. Smith for your big day

The Perfect Ceremony ❤
Dr. Smith responded immediately to my email requesting information. He was professional, thorough and his fee was very reasonable. He arrived on time, was very personable and dressed quite beautifully! The week of the wedding I sent him our background information to give him a better feel for us as a couple. Excellent Small Ceremony
We had a great experience with Dr. Smith as our wedding officiant. We wanted to keep our ceremony small and simple, and Dr. Smith enabled that while still making the moment extremely special and memorable with a very thoughtful reading. We were also working under some scheduling constraints and Dr. Smith accommodated his time to fit our needs. Dr. Smith was an absolute godsend for our wedding. I reached out to 6 other officiants. He was the best reply I could've ever hoped for. Aside from being articulate and kind, he never put any pressure on us about making a decision. He remained approachable and available throughout our engagement. I had originally said no to a rehearsal because I (stupidly) underestimated its importance and when I changed my mind the week before, he rearranged his schedule to accommodate us. He printed our vows and guided us through our ceremony flawlessly. We are so grateful that he was a part of our wedding day!

Responsive, professional, & all around great officiant!
Dr. Smith was just what we wanted in an officiant!
Our big wedding was pushed back a year due to the pandemic, but we still wanted to have a small local ceremony this year. I saw Dr. Smith's great reviews and messaged him toward the end of May, and he responded back within an hour, and within 24 hours we had all the details sorted out with him for our June 28 ceremony!
Day of, Dr. Smith was punctual, professional, and prepared, and was very well spoken and gave a beautiful ceremony. He is very kind & gives off a great energy to have around on your big day. We would definitely recommend hiring Dr. Smith as your officiant!

We loved Dr. Smith and so glad we chose him to officiate our wedding. He went above and beyond in delivering the perfect ceremony for us to get married. The process was simple; we met with him in person for about an hour going over different options and choosing ultimately what we wanted. Then exactly what we talked about came to life on the wedding day. He is professional, punctual and recommended for anyone and everyone!

One thing we loved most was that he gave us a variety of templets to use for our wedding style vs the standard everyone uses. It allowed us to pick the one that best fit our style. A great choice for your day!
My WIFE and I were very pleased to have found Dr. Smith to serve as our wedding officiant. From the very beginning, Dr. Smith had a personality that was easy to connect with-this was our main draw to him when we first met. We were further impressed as he remained in contact with us in the months/weeks leading up to our date. I personally liked how he was very open to creating a ceremony that would be just what we wanted. He had several examples for us to get started and then we were able to work with him to tailor it to our desires.
On the day of the rehearsal and ceremony Dr. Smith did an amazing job of making things run smoothly and letting it be a day for us and our family members to remember. Since then I've actually had a couple of folks ask about him for their own wedding plans in the future.
All in all, Dr. Smith was a great choice. A great speaker, very professional to communicate with and a genuinely nice guy. We would wholeheartedly recommend his services to anyone!

Our ceremony went exactly the way we wanted it to. It was short, sweet, and ran so smoothly! He was on time, friendly, and very knowledgeable. He took the time to learn our names and how to pronounce them correctly for the ceremony and he explained what to expect once the marriage certificate was signed. He was also very responsive to questions we had.

Dr. Smith was attentive to our wants and needs all the way through the ceremony. He tailored his speech to fit our ceremony and always responded quickly when we had any questions. It was also well worth it to pay a little extra to have him attend our rehearsal. He provided great insight and helped coordinate everything in order to help produce great opportunities for the photographer to get pictures. I would definitely recommend him for anyone looking for an officiant.

Dr. Smith provides an excellent experience for our wedding. From the very beginning when I called him, Dr Smith accommodated is on a very popular wedding date. In our initial conversation he confidently assured me that in 13 years he had never been late for a wedding, which he held up to. Dr smith met with us over Skype to meet us and discuss our desires. He provided multiple different options for ceremony types, which we were able to look at and customize. We did not meet Dr. Smith in person until the day of our wedding, but he carried things out in a very natural, professional way. He provided good guidance before, during and after the ceremony, but never felt imposing, which is exactly what you would want. He provided a nice framed version of the ceremony transcript as a keepsake as an added bonus. I would absolutely recommend him to anyone if he is available for your wedding date.

Dr. Smith was fantastic! We have a very traditional family but wanted a personal yet non-religious ceremony. As soon as we got in contact with Dr. Smith we had a meeting via Skype since we live outside of Michigan. He was so helpful and sent us a variety of ceremony ideas. Leading up to the wedding he was always quick to respond and help us create something just right for us. Even the week of the wedding he was still helping us with last minute changes. Our wedding ceremony was perfect thanks to Dr. Smith.

Dr. Smith was the officiant for our wedding this past Labor Day weekend. He did a fantastic job coordinating the extra unique elements of our ceremony, such as our sabre exit, Polish readings, etc. He made sure that we all knew what we were doing during the rehearsal, and I really think that helped make a difference for the big day. Bonus, he put together our ceremony program in a beautiful booklet! If you have a highly customized ceremony like we did, you cannot go with anyone better than Dr. Smith. :)

Dr. Smith is fantastic to work with! We got married on September 1, 2018 and our wedding was exactly what we wanted! Dr. Smith was so flexible with us and our busy schedules throughout the entire process. He made himself available for our rehearsal and wedding ceremony in Eaton Rapids and was so professional! We are nonreligious and wanted a simple ceremony and together we were able to create the perfect one! We also received a beautiful copy of our ceremony that matched our wedding colors! Dr. Smith is truly a class act and was a joy to work with! Everyone was so impressed with the ceremony and we highly recommend Dr. Smith!

After looking online at several (and meeting with a few) officiants, Michael and I decided that Stephen was the one for us. Stephen beautifully created a ceremony that wove together our different religious backgrounds (Michael is agnostic and I am non-denominational Christian). Additionally, Stephen introduced us to the hand-fasting ceremony (a Celtic tradition), which we loved, and ended up incorporating into our ceremony. We have heard from MANY of our guests how beautiful and well-worded the ceremony was, especially the hand-fasting ceremony. Even though we just met Stephen mere months before the ceremony, we had guests asking if he was an old friend of ours! Thank you so much for being such a professional and excellent officiant for us!

Amazing officant with a great and caring personality! Walked us through each step of the wedding and made sure that all went as planned. Talked with us about our vows and sand ceremony to make sure that it went smoothly and we had the right wording. Performed a beautiful non denominational ceremony that had everyone in tears. Dr. Smith was wonderful to work with from start to finish. He made the whole process of creating our ceremony very easy and was really great about working in the little nerdy touches we requested. Our memories from our wedding are wonderful because of the professionalism, calmness, and lovely demeanor of our officiant, Stephan Smith. We were married at Indian Springs Metropark and it was the perfect setting with the perfect officiant. He calmed our nerves and made the event light-hearted and meaningful. I would recommend Stephan to anyone that I know. He truly is the right person for the big day.

Dr. Smith was the best wedding officiate we could've hoped for. He tailored our ceremony to exactly what my husband and I wanted and provided us with a beautiful booklet that included the words used during our ceremony. He was incredibly professional and kind throughout our whole wedding planning process. Since our wedding, our friends have used him also because they loved him so much during our wedding. We highly recommend Dr Smith as a wedding officiate!

Planning our ceremony with Dr. Smith was a dream. He helped us incorporate some special touches, and even coordinated his services with our family member who is a wedding officiant in another state. We Couldn't Have Asked for a Better Officiant!
My wife and I cannot thank Dr. Stephan J Smith enough for officiating our wedding. He was everything we could have hoped for and more. Dr. Smith was professional, friendly, and easy to work with. He was more than willing to accommodate any of our requests, helping us create the perfect ceremony. He also helped us in ways we didn't expect by sharing anecdotes and giving advice on the many small details of our wedding that we had not even considered. His experience and knowledge was exceptional!
Our guests raved about the ceremony, and many of them commented on how Dr. Smith did a wonderful job. We couldn't have asked for a better officiant to help us celebrate our love. We highly recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding officiant who is professional, experienced, and passionate about helping couples create their dream ceremony.

8/28/2020 Schian Wedding
Dr. Smith did a wonderful job. We needed someone at the last minute due to all the changes to our wedding we had to make this year. He was very responsive and easy to talk to. Our ceremony was perfect besides the rain. Dr. Smith kept it short and sweet which I'm sure all of our guests were grateful of so they didn't get too wet.
