Above and Beyond

I cannot say enough kind words about Rev. Douglas Bethers. He went above and beyond on our wedding day and I would recommend him to anyone looking for an officiant. Doug’s ceremony was tailored to us, incorporated our special requests, and was humorous. He even surprised us by incorporating our beloved dogs into the ceremony. During our outdoor ceremony it was 9 degrees… Doug made sure that we were his number one priority. He made sure we had hand warmers and even carried and fluffed my train before my first look (I didn’t have bridesmaids). Douglas also took a significant amount of pictures that he texted to us almost immediately after the ceremony. This was amazing. I just cannot say enough good things.

Doug Bethers makes Your Wedding Extra Special

I’m not your average bride…
and Douglas Bethers isn't your average Utah wedding officiant...

* I’m 55 years old - and it’s my first marriage.
* We decided to elope with a wedding in the Utah mountains (because of Covid).
* There was less than 1.5 months to prepare for my “dream wedding”
* We planned our trip and I bought everything online for our wedding (without visiting a single store).
These were some of the challenges in trying to elope and marry (in a short time-frame) with the Covid-19 virus.
However, there was a shining light or STAR our wedding day at La Caille in Utah - it was our wedding minister Mr. Douglas Bethers.
He was fabulous and made the ceremony beyond memorable - with all the special touches and details he interwove into the wedding service.
In advance, Doug (our wedding preacher) asked us to fill out some paperwork plus answer some silly questions about one another. He promised that we’d be pleased later, that we took the time to answer the questions.
At the ceremony, our preacher Mr. Bethers wove our answers into the most beautiful love and Christ-filled wedding ceremony. You would have thought he knew the two of us for years - and not just a few weeks!
It was over the top wonderful - and not “average” at all!

Best Wedding Experience

Douglas made our wedding so special. My husband and I didn't have money for a big event. We made a small wedding to avoid as many issues as possibles and have a beautiful experience. Douglas way of sitting with us before the ceremony and explaining to us what to expect, and helping us write our vows, etc, was just perfect. He does such a great job to make the ceremony unique and special. He doesn't force anything on you, instead he gives you ideas and lets you decide. Because of this, two couples that attended our wedding, also had their weddings with Douglas, and each ceremony was special and unique. You cannot go wrong with him.

Doug is the best of the best!!!

Douglas is absolutely incredible. I am so beyond grateful to of had him on our wedding day and all the days leading up to our special day. Doug was professional, kind, energetic, organized, funny and so on top of everything! Our ceremony was breathtaking and we heard from all of our guests that Doug was amazing and that that was the best ceremony they have ever been too. I couldn't agree more. You need to hire Doug for your wedding day, you will not regret it! We plan to have him again when we renew our vows in 10 years. Thank you so much Doug!! You are the best and made our day so special to us and our guests and family.

Amazing ceremony!!

I’m so grateful we hired Douglas to officiant our wedding! I am an out of town bride and from the first time we talked on the phone we instantly clicked! His ceremony was so personalized you would have thought he’s known us forever. My dad grew up in Africa and I was born there and my dad wanted to surprise me and incorporate an African song into the ceremony. Douglas seamlessly and beautifully incorporated the song into his readings. You could tell that he had put so much effort into making sure it sounded perfect. One of our guests even said she got chills and started tearing up during the song. Douglas was so fun to work with, he’s so kind, thoughtful and well spoken! If you’re looking for the best officiant Douglas is your guy!

Very Helpful and Warm

We did not have any connections that could help us customize and plan an intimate ceremony. Bethers was a wonderful help with planning our nuptials! We had no idea what to expect but Bethers made everything very easy for us; he was professional, organized, helpful, and friendly. We are very happy with his service and so was our family!

Absolutely Amazing Ceremony - Highly Recommended

Douglas put together and spoke words at our Ceremony that I will never forget. This was neither my Husband or I's first marriage and we both had bad officiants prior. He made it very personal and not generic. I couldn't have asked for a better experience.

Romantic, sophisticated, and fun

Douglas really made our wedding day relaxed, fun, and beautiful. His attention to detail throughout the process was impressive. All Heart - An amazing Officiant

The ceremony is in my opinion the most important part of the wedding. Douglas makes it just that. With a customizable template of how you want your day to feel, Douglas kept everything running smoothly both during the rehearsal and the day of. Douglas did a phenomenal job in tying everything together. The guy is a true professional. He books up quickly (for a reason!) and so if you are considering him...book now!

The best decision you should make!

Douglas was truly amazing! If you are looking for someone who will make your ceremony truly beautiful and about you and your partner, Douglas is the way to go. Our ceremony was so personalized to us and he made sure to make it special for us! There was not a dry eye in the house, his words are beautiful! The ceremony was perfect. Douglas did an amazing job in preparing, and it showed in the ceremony. He took the time to cater the ceremony exactly how we wanted it. Just Right.

Our time working with Douglas was a breeze. From the moment we met him to the moment he officially pronounced us as man and wife, he was charming, professional, and easy to work with. Our whole wedding was such a blur, but even to this day, I still get friends who were at the ceremony telling me just how beautiful it was and it was all thanks to him.

Of all of the great vendors we had, he was by far the best! He never once made us feel uncomfortable about the decisions we made for the ceremony. He rolled with all of the different punches that came with the day-of and he was very patient.

To anyone who is in the Salt Lake area looking for a great officiant, I will always proudly recommend Reverend Douglas R. Bethers.

Douglas is the Best!

I was so nervous trying to find an Officiant. But when we found Douglas he made all of the nerves go away. He gave us information on how to get our marriage licence, we had a phone interview before we committed to him so we knew we were a good fit. Once the wedding day was here so was he. He walked us both though our roles and our families roles in the ceremony. The ceremony was beautiful we couldn't have asked for a better wedding. After the ceremony we had people asking how we knew Douglas because they thought we were friends before the whole wedding planning process. Thank you Douglas for everything!

The Best Officiant

Douglas was amazing. Our wedding day turned out to be quite an memorable disaster...it rained like crazy and the ceremony was outside. He braved the COLD rain with us and even stuck around for awhile after the chaos so that we could try to get pictures done in between the downpour before having us sign our marriage license and him heading out. We didn’t get to have the whole speech he had prepared because again the rain pretty much rushed us to the “say the I Do’s“ portion. He did have a cute little thing about the rain meaning good luck. Also, since we didn’t get to have the ceremony that he had planned for us he did offer to have a little ceremony somewhere in the future so that we can hear what I know would have been an amazing ceremony. That is amazing service that I feel some people wouldn’t care and just take the money and go

Douglas was wonderful!

We are quite the last minute couple - we had less figured out than I thought because there is so much to plan for a wedding! Douglas was the perfect officiant because he provided us with the information we needed to plan but didn't push us and make our wedding into something that wasn't our style. While we were discussing with Douglas how we wanted the ceremony to go, he told us how to avoid common mistakes couples make (i.e. walking too fast down the isle). It was apparent that he was very experienced and thoughtful and the event went incredibly smoothly largely due to Douglas! Our guests were very complementary of the ceremony saying that it reflected our relationship well and was the perfect length of time. I would highly recommend Douglas for anyone's ceremony because I am confident he will customize the ceremony as he did for ours and make any couple feel prepared and confident! Thank you very much Douglas!

Douglas was seriously the BEST and we couldn't have asked for more or better. He did our ceremony exactly how we wanted it and thought of so many things nobody else had thought of! The good reverend Douglas Bethers was an absolute godsend for our wedding. We feel so blessed that he was our officiant and gained a friend in him. We had several loose ends to tie down 2 weeks prior to our wedding and were stressed. Douglas served as a great consultant, gave us direction and assurance on solutions, and even allowed us to use his spotify for our song list. The entire wedding went perfectly. Douglas's service was heartfelt and memorable without being verbose and too lengthy. Subsequently he kept everything on schedule and moving smoothly from cocktail hour through toasts, cake cutting, and a great dance party. He was an absolutely fantastic DJ for us as well and had everyone involved. If you want to have your wedding go better than you ever imagined look to Douglas. He will make certain that your wedding plan is executed perfectly, and help you relax and melt into the magical experience that a wedding should be. I cannot recommend him more. Thank you, Douglas!!!

Reverend Bethers was the best choice I could have made when it came to an officiant. He customized our ceremony to make it specific to us and made it seem like he'd known us forever! He walked us through the big day and made sure everyone knew what to do and made everything run so smooth! I've had many compliments on how wonderful our ceremony was. He's the best!

I got married in October and I booked Douglas very last minute and he was so helpful! I'm so grateful for him! He helped the groomsman and bridesmaids rehearse before the ceremony as well as bringing everything we wanted into the ceremony. The way he wrote our ceremony after meeting us just once was amazing! He was so kind and caring. I couldn't have asked for a better officiant! He's very personable and I would recommend him to any couple looking for an officiant.

Douglas was BEYOND amazing as our officiant. We both come from religious backgrounds (yup, you guessed it) but aren't terribly religious ourselves and let's just say that I was worried Douglas may have to walk a tight rope so to speak. But, with his eloquence, candor and compassion he made our ceremony the best part of our wedding (which is saying a lot because we really loved our wedding). I was looking for someone who would genuinely want to marry us and appreciate how in love we are and how much this day meant to us. SO, if you are out their looking for someone to capture this moment and truly deeply celebrate your union......stop looking. Just trust me on this ok? Douglas is your officiant! You can thank me latter ;)

Not only is Douglas all around a kind and helpful individual, but he was the best officiant we could have asked for. He was so patient with all the questions my husband and I had and answered them thoroughly. When we freaked out because we were feeling unprepared a month before the wedding, he was willing to sit down and discuss any questions we had regarding the ceremony until we were satisfied and feeling better. He's also full of great advice, like taking a few moments after the ceremony to collect ourselves away from the guests. It made us feel very in control. And of course, there's the fact that Douglas was very familiar with our venue and just what usually goes wrong at weddings. He was able to give us advice from his own past experiences and helped up avoid any disappointment. My wedding went off without a single thing going wrong and I credit Douglas for A LOT of that. He is, in my opinion, the best man for the job. Every single one of our guests were in tears because of the beautiful way he conducted the ceremony. And they all absolutely loved him just as much as we did.

Douglas was amazing to work with! Not only is he flexible, he's also reliable, professional, and knows his stuff to the T'. He was very helpful, in giving input on how to make our wedding ceremony perfect! He took the time to meet with us, to get to know us, followed up with us, and make sure that everything on our end was taken care of. He's fun to work with, and again very professional. At the day of the ceremony he arrived early and made sure we knew the next steps to take. The manner that he presented the ceremony was far above and beyond, afterwards i had many guests coming to me complimenting Douglas on the amazing ceremony he had performed, saying that that was they have heard. I highly recommend Douglas Bethers! He walked us step by step on what to expect. By far he is the best!

Doug Bethers was the officiant at our wedding in September 2016. He did an excellent job and we couldn't have been more pleased. He took the time prior to the wedding to get to know us and then was able to plan the ceremony accordingly. His words were perfect and meaningful. I also particularly appreciated his promptness in arriving on time (actually early) and being prepared. I would highly recommend Doug Bethers.

Douglas is the most professional, responsive and caring Officiate! He met with me multiple times and customized vows for my husband and I. He took the stress off of what we would say and how we would say it, he literally thinks the whole ceremony through, even the simples things you don't think about like timing of when you walk down the aisle, and simple things as to step out of the way for your first picture as husband and wife. He has it already planned out, especially when you don't!!
He will take the time out of his schedule to make sure it is perfectly customized, and he even sends cute messages the morning of your wedding to remind you of the things you need and to wish you the very best day!
I am so lucky that I picked Douglas Bethers, he was worth every penny!

Doug was amazing to plan and work with leading up to our big day! I was worried about finding an amazing officiant for our destination wedding, but Doug quickly put my worries to rest. He made sure we communicated throughout the planning process and we felt very prepared going into our wedding day. Our ceremony was beautiful and thoughtful. We started off by meeting for around an hour where Douglas got to know our story, our personalities and how we would like our ceremony to go. He met with our wedding party on our rehearsal day to help us with the walk through and make sure we were all ready for the big day. On the day of the wedding, Douglas showed up over an hour early and even pitched in to help make sure all the groomsman had their boutineers on as he could tell we were stressing over making sure all the final details were in order. After the ceremony, Douglas handled the filing of our marriage license so that when we got home from our honeymoon our license was waiting in the mailbox. In the end, the money we spent on hiring Douglas as our officiant was the most well spent money of the entire wedding, and it wasn't even close!

Douglas was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. On our wedding day he went above and beyond for us. He helped set up for our wedding and he made sure that all of the wedding party was ready to go. During the ceremony he explained us exactly. My husband and I are so happy with our choice of Douglas to be our officiant. When we started our search for an officiant we were living out of state and when I requested a Skype interview Douglas was all for it! After getting to know a little bit about Douglas and his process from our skype interview we felt completely comfortable. The first time we met Douglas in person was at our rehearsal and instantly I knew we had made the right choice for him to be the person to marry us! He is so kind and sincere. Douglas made our ceremony completely personal and took the time to get to know us to ensure that he would be. Knowing how much our dogs mean to us, he actually found a way to include them as well. Not only is Douglas an incredible officiant, he also has many vendor reccomendations that were very helpful. He was always prompt to respond to emails and answered all of our questions and gave us suggestions. Overall if you choose Douglas you will not be disappointed.

I can't say enough how happy I am we used Douglas Bethers as our Officiant! He was so great to work with, he was easy to contact and very personable. We met with him to go over the ceremony and he gave us a sheet to fill out to help us figure out what we wanted so that he could customize it to fit us best. Douglas was amazing. From our first meeting he was very thorough and personable. As an officiant, he had a wonderful ceremony prepared for us. I was very happy with his choice of words and how he was able to bring our personalities into what he was saying.
For an extra fee, he offered to help us out with our music and timeline as well. I was amazed. He arrived early and helped direct everyone to what they needed to be doing. He is great with crowds and knew how to get people involved during the reception. Everyone had such a good time. He went above and beyond our expectations.
I couldn't have asked for a better person and am so glad we chose Douglas Bethers!

The highlight of our wedding day was definitely our ceremony. Everything about it was perfect. The weather, the beautiful sentiments, and the love exchanged. But especially our officiant, Douglas. He has such a way with words. He has the type of personality where he makes you feel like you've known him a lifetime. I was a little embarrassed to be put on the spot and crying in front of everyone during our ceremony but having Douglas there made me feel so much more comfortable. I felt like I had a friend or family member up there with me. I also loved that Douglas worked with us to plan the perfect ceremony for us. He is so accommodating and really made sure the ceremony was true to us as a couple. The day of the wedding he showed up plenty early and was a lifesaver when he let us use his music while our guests were arriving since we hadn't even thought to prepare music for that time. Overall I would 100% recommend Douglas as an officiant. He exceeded our expectations and was one of the most important people involved in our wedding.

Douglas was amazing! He did an excellent job in helping us incorporate elements of a Persian ceremony into ours. He was willing to meet multiple times and did a significant amount of background research on the ceremony. I didn't realize how much of a key role our officiant would be to our wedding but it really set the entire mood. Douglas was sooo good!! People keep telling us how great the ceremony was. Douglas married my husband and I last May. We had to find someone last minute after we were double booked by another officiant. He was very prompt when responding and met us two days later. At the meeting he put us completely at easy. He was incredibly professional and made that aspect of our wedding completely worry free. He even called me the night before the wedding to make sure everything was going well and to us wish luck. Our ceremony was absolutely perfect! Everyone was laughing and crying. I love how he got everyone involved, not just us. 3 months after our wedding he even checked in to make sure all was well and to offer some wisdom. Reverend Bethers was a family friend and was recommended to us for our wedding. After sitting down with him the first time I could already tell he would make the ceremony perfect. I realized that I couldn't even imagine anyone else being our offiiant! He was so good at keeping in touch with me since my husband now was currently still deployed in Afghanistan! He went through all the details and made sure to make it just how we wanted it. The ceremony was beautiful and it made our special day that much better! Douglas performed a ceremony for my husband and I a few weeks ago. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome and received so many compliments. My husband and I have a 2 year old daughter so we wanted her involved and able to participate. Douglas welcomed the request and also gave us some great ideas ( other officiants didn't want the hassle). I would strongly recommend Douglas especially if you are looking for someone who can provide a ceremony catered to you and your partner.

I highly recommend Douglas! He is professional, kind, very easy to work with and made our day amazing. He made our ceremony personal by including pieces we shared with him about us and I had so many guests stop me to tell me how much they enjoyed the ceremony. It wasn't just a boring routine thing, but instead fun and interactive and even my mom thought he was a good friend of our because he told our story so well. I planned my Utah wedding from California so had to rely on emails and phone calls and Douglas was so easy to work with. He responded in a timely matter and just made the process so easy and enjoyable. If you are looking for a great ceremony where you can rely on the officiant to plan a great ceremony, Douglas is your guy.

You will not be disappointed if you choose to use Rev Bethers he is amazing and he is not afraid to jump on in and help with ANYTHING you need. He has great ideas, and was in touch with us from the moment he met with us on day one until the day we got married. He understands the true meaning of marriage and won't hold back. If you want it he will find a way to make it happen.

Doug has been a family friend for years and we adore him! He was able to bring his own personal touch to the ceremony which made it absolutely perfect. He helped to create an open and loving environment for the guests, i could not picture anyone else performing the ceremony as well as he did. Thank you Doug!

Douglas was amazing! We met with a few Officiants and he just connected with us both. He was very professional and stayed in contact with us right up to the big day! His service was very professional and custom to my wife and I. I would highly recommend Douglas to anyone, not only did he provide a great service to us but we also feel like we gained a new friend.

Doug is literally the best, He was friendly and welcoming and made my husband and I feel like we mattered. He put forth valued ideas and I felt I could trust him emotionally to handle our big day. He is a complete goof ball that makes the the stressful event fun. He went out of his way to take care of us and ensured that anyone causing problems were dealt with. He kept me on point and ensured I put my spouse first, he took the time to really get to know us and made it very personable. There is no one like him out there!

His words were kind, beautiful and even full of great advice. During the consultation he walked us through everything that would happen in the ceremony, and personalized it to our liking. We felt very comfortable talking to him and he was super friendly.
At the ceremony he visited me in the bride's room a few times to keep me updated and make sure everything was all set before I walked down the aisle. He was so nice and helped make sure everything was in order and that I was ready.
I would recommend Douglas to others. He was on the less expensive side of officiants we had looked into, and definitely came through for us in a big way.

He was great. Very kind and respectful and molded to our needs. I would highly recommend him. However, I would provide some constructive criticism feedback in two areas. One, he elaborated what my wife and I thought of one another during the ring ceremony. It was nice and sounded great, but I didn't need him embellishing my wife's qualities- I can do that just fine. I just didn't like him quoting something from me that never actually came from me. Not a big deal, but not my favorite either. Second, the ceremony was a bit too long. Not overly long. Just a little more than needed on his part. Otherwise, he was great.

Douglas was wonderful. When we met him for the first time we were both comfortable with him, he listened to exactly what we wanted for our ceremony, he offered suggestions but was not pushy about us deciding on those suggestions right away, he gave us time and was content with our decisions. Douglas checked in with us from time to time to see how everything was going and offered to help in anyway he could. The ceremony was perfect, he even had a copy of our vows typed up in large print for us to read from if we couldn't remember ours vows, which we couldn't. I would strongly recommend Douglas to anyone whos getting married. Couldn't have chosen anyone better!!!! Than you so much Douglas!!!

Overall, I would highly recommend Rev. Bethers to all of my friends and family who are looking to be married. When my now-wife and I sat down to speak with him, I knew he would be perfect for the ceremony. The quality of service he provided was amazing and a lot of guests commented on how great of a job he did. The only things I took minor points away were on Responsiveness and Professionalism. I sent out an email with some questions that did not get answered but it wasn't anything too important. Professionalism was definitely there but he did mispronounce my name as well as my wife's at the ceremony and I did get some comments as to how he'd mess that up if he wrote them down. Other than those, I felt that he did a flawless job. Our ceremony was in the rain but that didn't stop us and he even brought a speaker for us to use for the ceremony!

Reverend Bethers was an amazing officiant! He worked with us to make sure that our ceremony was exactly what we wanted it to be, and was patient with us when we really didn't have a clear idea of what we wanted. He still made it incredibly memorable and wonderful regardless, and even showed up in the torrential rainstorm on our wedding day for our outdoor wedding! We would recommend Reverend Bethers :)
