Highly Recommended Florist!

Douglas Koch, of DKD, is a true floral professional! Throughout the planning process, Douglas got on numerous calls with us, went through many revisions, and ultimately brought our dream wedding floral style and design to life with unbelievable execution. From the stunning intimate personal florals, the voluminous arbor and ceremony florals (that Douglas allowed us to DIY the shallow urn vases for), and the incredible tablescapes, everything was breathtaking and made the already beautifully manicured Hudson Valley equestrian farm and reception barn look like an elegant European countryside event venue, just like we dreamed. We couldn't have been happier with the outcome and how helpful and accommodating Douglas was for our wedding. We highly recommend Douglas Koch Designs!

Daughters Wedding

Douglas is a true master of his craft. He was very easy and fun to work with. Douglas brought to life a beautiful elegance to my daughters wedding. Most impressive was that we gave him the wrong number of bridesmaids and were on bouquet short. At the venue an hour an hour before the ceremony, he magically produced a bouquet that matched the rest close enough that not a guest would have noticed. Everything from the bouquets, table flowers, fireplace mantle gracefully flowing with white flowers and greenery, vines winding through the stair railing to the abundance of flickering candles all beautifully complement the Adirondack lodge. Flowers to Remember

My husband and I cannot express how overjoyed we are with the flowers that Douglas Koch prepared for our wedding. We got married in late April in 2023 and first heard about Douglas through a coworker. Douglas held several phone and in person meetings with us to discuss options for flower arrangements, cake decorations, bouquets, mantle decorations, corsages, and boutonnieres. Douglas quickly zeroed in on our wedding aesthetic and ideas about decor and centerpieces and had a plan in no time. We were very open with color and flower choices with the only ask that it included mini sunflowers for pops of bright summery color and Douglass’s imagination did the rest. The result was breathtaking, each decoration and arrangement were brilliant splashes of sunflowers with vibrant jewel tones arranged in a variety of colored apothecary glasses. Every table was stunning and the mantle arrangement was amazing. The stars of the show were the bridal bouquet and all of the flowers for our family to wear. We only wish that the flowers could last forever because they were absolutely perfect!

Phenomenal Flowers

I cannot say enough positive things regarding Douglas Koch and the flowers I received. Not only was he able to do changes with a weeks notice - what he provided for the bouquets and centerpieces were breathtaking!! I received many compliments on both!!
If I ever have the need for flowers for a function in the future I will be sure to attempt to hire Doug!!!

I was very nervous about trusting the reviews online to relay my wedding day dreams but YALLLL LOOK NO FURTHER!!! Douglas Koch was HANDS DOWN the best florist and ARTIST I have ever worked with. Not only was he kind and helpful in planning from 1200 miles away, but he was also flexible when we had a drastic guest count change. From the custom-made arbor to the beautiful bouquets, his talents really are limitless.

Douglas is an absolute magician with florals and decor!

As a wedding professional in the Hudson Valley for many years, I have been recommending Douglas to clients as my premiere florist, and he never disappoints. When my daughter was getting married there was no one else I would trust her special day to than Douglas and his amazing team. My daughter got married at a lakefront pavilion that didn't have much going for it other than location and Douglas worked his magic, transforming it with draping, lights, linens, and flowers. He turned a basic park pavilion into a magical wedding venue, and he did it all with grace and a smile. Douglas and Joe are always such a pleasure to work with and if you are looking for a florist or designer for your big day you can stop searching because you've found the best!

Amazing florist and designer

Douglas was helpful in preparing us for our wedding design and flowers every step of the way. Douglas, Joe and Eddie created a magical experience for us the day of and leading up to our wedding. His floral designs were unique and wonderful, and he went above and beyond in every way you can imagine. He was prompt, friendly and caring, and treated us like family. You can see the passion he has for his work, and his reputation is stellar in his field; every other vendor we hired said "if you hired Douglas, you know it's going to be good". 10/10. Beautiful decor

Douglas and his team exceeded our expectations with our flowers and decor and executed our vision flawlessly.

We had our wedding at Hunter and had severe thunderstorms in the area which needed to be monitored to ensure a summit ceremony could happen. He and his team were able to roll with the punches to get our chuppah set up at the summit and make the reception flowers look flawless.

He was clear in communication throughout the process and worked with me to incorporate some of my decor elements (signage) to fit with the overall reception aesthetic of whimsical and romantic. Everyone loved the florals - Douglas and his team did a killer job. Thank you again, we cannot recommend them enough!

Absolutely beautiful

I cannot say enough about how beautiful the flowers and centerpieces were by Douglas. They far exceeded anything I ever even imagined! And working with Douglas was great…. So kind and easy going! He really listened to what we wanted and created things that were GORGEOUS. At the last minute, I asked for a few flowers to be added to the wedding cake…. When I saw the “few flowers” on the wedding cake I was stunned. 1000000% Recommend.

Absolutely stunning work

Walking into my reception and seeing the flower arrangements that Douglas and his team assembled was a total highlight of my wedding day. It was far and beyond what I was expecting. This is not to exclude all of the other details--bouquets, flower crowns, sashes for the ceremony (all done perfectly). I planned my wedding from afar but the DK team was so easy to work with. I met Douglas on the day of my wedding -- He is a lovely person, and an amazing artist. I did not think flowers would make such a big difference, but I am SO glad I had DK designs on my team. I am still totally blown away at what they did for my wedding and I wouldn't have changed a thing!

Grogeous Centerpieces, Awesome Service Day-of

Douglas and his team were awesome to work with! He was easy to communication with and was so incredible helpful and flexible the day of our wedding, putting out all of the centerpieces and distributing corsages and boutonnieres. Oh my goodness, the centerpieces were absolutely stunning. We had two different centerpieces, 1) a manzanita tree with candles in jars hanging from the branches and 2) and wooden rounds with candles and moss, and with our wine and pink assorted flowers around both to have a modern rustic look and the execution was BEYOND PERFECT. We had so many compliments about how fresh the flowers were as well, including one from my grandmother, which is impressive. They last the whole wedding plus some travel time in our cars! Amazing and highly recommend to all.

Beautiful setup and style

Knowing next to nothing about flowers going into our wedding, Douglas was the perfect find for us. He walked us through color schemes and designs, and shared with us what works and what doesn't. We are so glad we used Douglas for our wedding and deferred to his expertise. Douglas created the most amazing decoration to accompany Hunter Mountain's Arbor, and the centerpieces and personal flowers were the perfect accent to our wedding, rave reviews from our guests. Having owned flower shops in Manhattan and Nassau County Long Island and considering myself an expert in wedding flowers I can honestly say that Douglas and his crew did a better job at my daughter's wedding than I could have done myself. Throughout the planning of our wedding when we told our vendors that we had hired Douglas Koch as our florist we heard on multiple occasions, “You have Douglas!? He’s absolutely incredible and we love working with him”. I can now say without a doubt that they were 100% correct and he most certainly didn’t disappoint! I simply can’t speak highly enough about Douglas and the rest of his staff at Douglas Koch Designs. From day one, Douglas truly worked with us to create our own unique vision for our wedding. He remained in touch with us frequently in order to share new ideas and to give us updates. I felt completely comfortable putting everything solely in his hands without a worry. Douglas is extremely talented and what he was able to come up with is simply indescribable. Walking into both my ceremony and reception, I was completely blown away by the masterpiece of a space that he had created. We first met Douglas Koch at the 2016 Birch Hill Wedding Show. We had booked our wedding in April of 2015 at Birch Hill and were finally getting all the other details in order. Our first memory of Douglas was his very nice and professional personality, as well as his beautiful floral displays at the Wedding Show. When we returned home that evening, we discussed and decided that Douglas knew what he was doing and we would give him a go. Great decision! After a few changes and add ons to our initial design, Douglas and his team executed beautifully on our wedding day. When we entered the ballroom where our ceremony/reception took place, we were in absolute awe and beyond pleased with seeing Douglas' vision come to life. One of my bridesmaids and I went to the wedding expo at Birch Hill where we met Doug and Paul. Within the week following we had a consultation set up. I was dead set due to budget to do all my own centerpieces and bouquets. I am so happy with my decision to do the consultation and Doug was more than willing and happy to stay within my budget even using flowers for ceremony and reception. He brought my vision to life, it was even better than I even imagined. A weight has been lifting knowing that my wedding ceremony and reception is in good hands. I cannot wait to work with them in the months leading up to my wedding and seeing the end result. I highly recommend Doug, Joe, Beth, and the whole crew! They are amazing, knowledgeable (its okay if you don't know anything about flowers! That's what they are there for!) and so talented! Look no further go with Doug!

Douglas and Joe have been nothing but amazing from the moment we met them! From the very first meeting they were open and welcoming, inviting us to their home/office and making us feel as if we were friends stopping by for a chat instead of two new customers looking to plan a wedding. Unlike many wedding floral designers we saw beforehand, which would only have a hand full of different candle holders or flower display settings; DKD has access to hundreds of kinds of table top décor in varying styles.
Douglas spent hours with us during every visit to his warehouse and office; going over varieties of flower types, colors, bouquets, candles, candleholders, vases, glassware, linens, and crystal in every arrangement imaginable; in order to create the design and feel we hoped to convey for our wedding. He understood from the beginning what looks, colors and styles we were going for and worked with us every step of the way to stay true to that vision.

As we got closer to our wedding date and our budget became tighter, Doug remained flexible to our changes and consistently helped us with new and creative ways to keep our design and look but staying within our budget. Consistently staying in constant communication with us and adding last minute changes, no matter the time of day or how close to the wedding date it got.
DKD went above and beyond for us, even planting additional flowers at the venue when the cold from the extended winter killed off all the local flora the day of the wedding. It is impossible to fit into this review how amazing they are and how much they have done for us throughout the wedding process. DKD embodies what true customer service should be. We have both agreed that if we are to ever have another event, we will be using their services. They have won two friends and customers for life. Thank you again for all that you have done for us and making our wedding one all of our friends and family will remember for a long time to come!

Douglas is fantastic. I am still getting compliments on the flowers at our wedding. My husband and I were planning a mountain wedding, so Douglas worked with us to find flowers that would fit our venue and our budget. The results were gorgeous. I really could not be happier with how everything turned out. Douglas also went above and beyond on our wedding day. I had to cutback on the flowers at the ceremony site because we were over budget, but Douglas surprised me by adding a few extra flowers anyway. He also drove my bridesmaids and me to meet the rest of the bridal party when there was a scheduling mix-up and we ended up without a car -- definitely not something in his job description! I can't recommend him highly enough.

Douglas and his entire team did a phenomenal job. The center pieces were stunning, and the bridal bouquets were gorgeous. The boutonnières were exactly what my husband wanted. Douglas listened to what we liked, and what we didn't, and came up with decor that was just perfect. When I walked into my venue I almost started to cry with how beautiful the flowers were, and we received compliments all evening, and even days after about how long the blooms lasted! I would highly recommend him for anyone planning an event.

Douglas went above and beyond to help make my wedding absolutely perfect! From our first meeting to fixing the train of my dress before I walked down the aisle Douglas was extremely helpful every step of the way. I could not have asked for more gorgeous flowers they were strait out of a fairytale! Douglas worked within our budget to select blooms and designs that fit our needs. Douglas provided the centerpieces linins & chair covers for my sons wedding plus sooo much more the wedding had a nautical theme & Douglas created a one of a kind center piece for the sweetheart table . . . he took a 3mast sailing ship & set it on an ocean of unique flowers amazing! of course the rest of the tables had his unique touch as well. Then he performed a miracle! The ceremony was supposed to be outside in an arbor we didn't have a plan B so of course it rained all day Douglas says don't worry & zips to his truck & pulls out a couple of panels & some fish netting . . . grabbed some flowers & presto a beautiful arbor perfect for the ceremony appears! Douglas makes your dreams come true no matter the obstacles! thank you for a truly unforgettable day!

Douglas Koch Designs really went above and beyond for us. From going out of their way to conveniently meet us in NYC to even changing blooms last minute due to unforeseen weather conditions, they really were a huge part in the making our absolutely perfect day. I have never seen such beautiful flower designs in my life! Douglas was very understanding of our budget and never made me feel bad for underestimating the cost of flowers. Though we may have gone over what I had anticipated, it was well worth it! Douglas is truly an expert at what he does and putting our trust in him was our best decision.

Best Wedding Decision I made was hiring Douglas Koch for our floral designs. I am generally not into flowers and don't know much about them, but from the start Douglas took the time and explained all the different options for arrangements and flowers and tried to get a feel for what I liked. I had seen his creations at bridal shows and all were stunning and in the end I left it up to him and knew he would create some beautiful that would fit my wedding... and he FAR EXCEEDED my expectations. The whole setting for my wedding was intensified and made so elegant with the stunning centerpieces and our bouquets and corsages were beautiful. It really made that WOW factor. The compliments from our guests were never ending and I will enjoy looking at the florals in our pictures for many years to come. Besides the flowers Douglas (and his entire team) were a pleasure to work with. Douglas goes above and beyond to make sure that every aspect of our special day was perfect. He personally delivered the bouquets to where I was getting dressed before the ceremony, he made sure all the men had the corsages on perfectly and even made sure the train on my dress was fluffed and perfect before my walk down the isle. I can not give them enough praise for EVERYTHING Douglas Koch did, definitely made our day VERY Special!

My daughters wedding was beautiful because of Douglas Koch. When I walked into the reception venue I was blown away by the sheer design and beauty of Douglas's ideas. Everyone was so impressed by his work . His attention to every detail from the bouquets and boutonniere's to the church and reception was impeccable. He is very easy to work with and even took the time to calm a jittery bride. We can't say enough wonderful things about Doug and his designs! I wish I could give 10 stars and talk to all the other brides who are not choosing Doug - he's the way to go!

From the start he was an absolute pleasure to work with. He listened to us (my mom, dad and the groom) and took all of our questions and requests very seriously. My flowers came out even better than I could have ever dreamed!

The best part about working with Doug is that he was not just concerned about the flowers. Doug did a walk through of the space with us a few weeks before the wedding and mentioned things about the space, the event chairs, linens, etc. I would have never noticed. He even went ahead and brought a steamer to be sure things looked right that the event space/caterers should have been concerned about. Really, just above and beyond.

I hope we have a chance to work with Doug again. He was by far my favorite vendor and made a really stressful part of the wedding so much fun!

Douglas Koch and his team were amazing from the first day we sat down to discuss our wedding right through to our wedding day. Douglas made sure the flowers suited my vision for my wedding and the personalities and character of my husband and me. We discussed every detail extensively before the big day and I thought I knew what to expect. However, I was blown away! I still look at the pictures of our outdoor ceremony and smile at how beautiful the flowers and the arch were. The pattern of petals down the aisle was amazing. Inside for the reception, it was like an ordinary event room was given a facelift. It looked like a different room from when I booked the wedding. Douglas is a true artist and his attention to detail was apparent everywhere that day. Most of all my bouquet was probably the most beautifully arranged bouquet I have ever seen. It was perfect! I did not want to put it down. As an added bonus Douglas and everyone who works with him are super nice and helpful and very pleasant to be around. I am so thankful they were part of our wedding day.

Douglas is truly talented! When I first saw Douglas's flower arrangements at a bridal show I immediately saw $$ signs bc they were so beautiful. After meeting and giving Douglas our budget we described to him the type of theme we were envisioning and what we were looking for centerpiece-wise. He reassured me that he would do everything in his power to create me the centerpieces that I wanted while keeping my budget in mind. He was a man of his word and created us the most beautiful centerpieces and floral arrangements for our wedding party. Working with Douglas was a pleasure! We brought our ideas for our wedding to him and he made our vision come to life and then some! Douglas and his team are absolutely AMAZING! He is an incredible artist who made everything more beautiful than I could have imagined. The chuppah for our ceremony was beautiful and the rose petal design down the aisle was ridiculous. Then the reception space was breath taking- everyone commented on how beautiful everything was. My flowers were absolutely gorgeous. Loved them. The only thing i did not like is that he did not return my emails towards the end. Other than that, he did a fabulous job. I would chose him again as my florist.

Upon entering into my reception at The lazy Swan, I was blown away by the over the top and stunning centerpieces that Douglas Koch Designs provided for my wedding. They were absolutely amazing ! Douglas from day one was amazing, I had certain flowers I wanted and it was the most beautiful arraingements I have ever seen. We had votive lights hanging from tree branches and he all so did our linens which we picked from so many that he had to choose from. He listened to what we wanted and set up everything and waited until we arrived to see if everything was the way we wanted it. I would reccommend Douglas to everyone he was wonderful.

Douglas was a joy to work with. He is a creative genus. From our first consultation with him, we could tell that the flowers would be perfection and they were. Orchid Oasis

Douglas made our orchid-themed wedding come alive! My wife and I are obsessed with tropical orchids from all over the world and Douglas was able to find the orchids we wanted in the middle of September. When Douglas dropped off our flowers we couldn't believe how beautiful they were. They looked better than we could have ever imagined and they made our day extra special. Douglas was kind and understanding during the planning process and was able to handle not one, but two brides which is extra difficult. We highly recommend Douglas' work.

Stunning Design

I'm very detailed oriented. Douglas is extremely busy and since I don't have a creative bone in my body, I relied on him to help me visualize the design and theme. I was not disappointed. The flowers were beyond stunning. I asked him to make me a bold flower crown which I wore to my reception and it was glorious. Hire Douglas.

Stunning flowers!

Doug made the most incredible flowers for our wedding. Everything looked absolutely magnificent!!! For our ceremony, the Chuppah was absolutely beautiful, we could not believe our eyes!!! And his team even built it in the rain and wind outside -- and we had to make a different plan last minute because of our unique setting (which was on top of a mountain). We really couldn't be more grateful for the hard work of Doug and his team, his willingness to go above and beyond for us, and his flexibility given our unique situation and unexpected weather. For our reception, the room was totally transformed by the GORGEOUS centerpieces and details by Doug and his team! The centerpieces came out STUNNING!!! Everything looked simply soooo amazing! We received so many compliments from our family and all of our other guests on all of the flowers. People said it was the most gorgeous Chuppah they had ever seen. And we also totally loved the bouquets and boutonnieres!!! They were fantastic and aligned with my vision. And he also made me a beautiful flower crown that I wore the entire time and loved!! It also looks fabulous in photos! We had a lot of requests and specific needs, and Doug met them all. We are so thankful for Doug and his team!

We used Douglas as our florist for our wedding on 10/11/15 in Saugerties, NY and we could not be happier with the way everything turned out! From our very first meeting with Douglas, I knew that I could trust his taste and opinion to give us exactly what we wanted and that's what he did. Douglas was in constant contact with us leading up to the wedding, and though we ended up going over budget towards the end, it was clearly well worth it. He listened to all of our concerns and requests and was able to come up with solutions that made everyone happy. I can't tell you how many people commented on how beautiful our centerpieces, escort table, everything was. Douglas is personable and considerate and even went so far as to recommend a DJ to us, one that he had personally used. We ended up choosing that DJ and we were not disappointed at all! I would highly recommend him to anyone getting married in the Saugerties/Ulster County area!

Douglas and his staff provided a great experience for my family and I. They thought of ideas, I never would have imagined. He asked what I wanted and then in turn gave me several ideas that I could change up more if I wanted. It was an absolute pleasure working with them. I HIGHLY recommend using them. Douglas loves the "WOW" factor, so he may need some reeling in, but he provides the best service. He certainly adds touches to the entire event, not just the table arrangements. Douglas was great to work with and it was wonderful to visit his studio and see some of the ideas he came up with based on our (very limited) idea of what we wanted. He was able to make little tweaks to personalize the flowers to us (hop flowers in our personals and tiger lilys for a memorial). He was also great at working with us to keep within budget.

Douglas did a wonderful job of fitting flowers to a venue that had only been open for 3 weeks. The arrangements were all gorgeous and personal flowers still look great.

Doug Koch translated the Brides vision of the wedding flowers and the appearance of the event into a reality. The colors of the flowers helped to make the room pop. Doug wanted to insure the beauty of the flowers. He thoughtfully provided the Bride with a vase of water keep the Bridal bouquet fresh during the timing gap of taking the pre-ceremony photos and the actual Wedding Ceremony. The centerpieces were breathtaking. And our guests are still talking about the flowers and lighting during the wedding ceremony.

Douglas came very highly recommended with our venue, and for good reason. We were lucky he was available on our wedding date, as there was only 3 months notice, and he worked very hard to come up with a very creative floral design to be near the budget we wanted. Choosing a florist and discussing anything about flowers was definitely new to us when we began planning for our wedding. Douglas was recommended to us by our ceremony and reception venue, and we are glad we chose him. While the initial survey/information form was a little overwhelming (mostly because we had absolutely no idea what we wanted at the time), having an in-person meeting to discuss our thoughts and his suggestions was very helpful. We did have to do a little bit of research on centerpieces and bouquets to better express what our vision was like but that is to be expected. We picked a few flowers we really liked within our budget and he was able to choose additional blooms that would complement them nicely.

When the flowers arrived they were beautiful and our guests loved them. Our centerpieces were fuller and bigger than what we had imagined which was a nice surprise. I loved all of the bouquets, and the corsages for the mothers of the bride and groom were even attached to the wrist via faux pearl bracelets instead of ribbon - a very nice touch! We thought that because all of our guests were traveling from out of town they would not take the centerpieces home, but we were wrong! They were gone in a heartbeat.

The only reasons I reduced some half stars was because email communication was not as consistent as phone communication. We also had to double check a few items on our final proposal to make sure there was an accurate count of what we needed (something everyone should be doing anyway). Otherwise, we were very happy with Douglas and his services. We highly recommend him to future brides!

The flowers at my wedding turned out beautiful. I had a little trouble getting this vendor to understand my priorities and budget at first, but we eventually got on the same page. At the end of the day it all worked out and I couldn't have asked for anything more.

Douglas did our flowers for our wedding on September 15, 2012 at Hunter Mountain in NY. He came recommended by Hunter Mountain. He is a definite professional when it comes to flowers. He knows everything about them and what will look good. We did have some miscommunication and misunderstandings when it came to the first deposit that I gave him at our first meeting. He claimed that I hadn't given him anything and I had to pull up my banking records to prove I did and tell him the date the check was cashed. Also, he is not cheap! If you give him your budget he will do his best to give you what you want while staying around your budget. The centerpieces were PERFECT. Absolutely breath taking. I had 3 different kinds and they all were gorgeous. The boutineers looked great as well. The only thing with the bridesmaids bouquets is that I wanted brown Gerber daisies and that is what he gave me however I was not aware that brown Gerber raises are not brown! They're more like a rusty orange which I did not know and I wish I did because it didn't go with the color palate of my wedding at all. But all in all he did a great job. My bouquet of sunflowers had me smiling all day!

The bridal and bridesmaid bouquets were beautiful. We had a little communication error at one point leading up to the wedding when he thought he had sent us a final purchase order but we had not received it however it was resolved and the big day went off without a hitch.

Elegant expensive

Douglas kept trying to up the prices. I wanted my daughters wedding to be very special so I went along with it. Her flowers wilted during the ceremony. The next morning the lack quality of the flowers was evident. Beware of his contracts. He does not spell everything out and actually took back some items we felt we had paid for. The week before he added almost two thousand to the bill because the flowers were more expensive than anticipated. That felt very unprofessional to me
