I could go on for days about how much I absolutely LOVED having James aka DJ Big Cali as my DJ. I was honored to have him DJ my graduation party, as well as my wedding. Both of which were in Orlando, FL. (Yes, he was worth bringing across the country, not once but twice).
His professionalism and organization throughout events are certainly a few of his strengths. But what really sets him apart from the rest is his easy going and fun-loving personality. He reads the crowd so well and has such diversity in his music that he finds a way to connect with every single person in the room. I can promise you, with him as your DJ, the people you would never expect to be out on the dance floor…. will be out on the dance floor lol.

James is the best!
I am a wedding coordinator in Sonoma County and I worked with James in the summer of '21. Since he hadn't been to the venue yet, he was gracious enough with his time to attend a site visit beforehand. He was thorough in his notes and questions and the app he uses for couples to load in their song selections is very easy to navigate! On the day of, James was professional in his attire, set up, and overall announcements throughout the night. There were people on the dance floor before dinner(this was a huge dancing crowd) and James went with the flow, playing what they wanted to hear, and everyone was raving about him before the real dancing began. This couple had some eclectic song choices and James seamlessly transitioned between the different genres and the dance floor was packed ALL NIGHT. He also interacted with the crowd in a way that wasn't overbearing, but it's always nice when you see the DJ grooving alongside guests. They loved it!
I got engaged shortly after working with James and he was one of the first vendors I booked! I knew that after seeing him in action, I trust him 1,000% with my wedding. We can't wait until our big day with James as our DJ!

Great Dj AND Emcee!!
As an Event Planner we work with so many event DJs and it is SO imperative to have a great Dj AND Emcee. You can't forget that last part, not just anyone can keep your guests and event flowing, it takes a special finesse. James was amazing, on time, ready to go, made all the announcements so that both our Hispanic and French guests in attendance knew what was next, and on top of it all kept the dancefloor going all night! James was the best DJ we could ever asked for! We had our wedding at Saratoga Springs on 08/20/23 and we could not be happier with the results. Planning a 200 ppl wedding in only five months by myself was a challenge. Thank God for the great reviews on yelp because that was what made me go for DJ Big Cali. If you are looking for your DJ.... look no more!! Two days before the weeding I sent an email to James with some instructions and songs and he pulled though like I had given him this information months ago.... (Don't this to him please... just writing this here since I want to remark how great he is). Our wedding was 50% Croatians and 50% Colombians and everybody keeps on talking about the great time they had! Wedding DJ
We had the pleasure of working with Dj BigCali for our wedding last weekend. Let me just start by saying we have never worked with a Dj who was more professional, organized, had a positive and uplifting energy to him, and showed genuine interest in making sure we had an amazing event catered to our specific crowd. He had a nice clean Dj booth setup with lights which helped add to the ambiance of our event, and he also helped host our event by keeping the program moving along. We honestly can't say enough good things about him. We had several guest come up to us after the wedding and rave about how on-point and amazing our Dj was! Having him as our Dj definitely made a big difference in the outcome of our wedding! We had a great time dancing until we were tired! I would no doubt use Dj BigCali again for any future events we have, we highly recommend him!!

DJ Big Cali was THE MAN!! We had an absolute blast at our wedding and a HUGE part to it was because of him. People are still going on and on about how much fun everything was especially the dancing! It could not have happened without him and I highly recommend him for any event you have!! His communication with us was also top quality and his energy he carried through the night was infectious! DJ Big Cali, aka James, was absolutely amazing at our wedding!! He was so easy to work with and we had great communication before and after the wedding. His app is very thorough and organized, we sent our playlist and he fully tailored the music to us and the crowd. James set up multiple sound systems for us to accommodate both ceremony and reception spaces. Throughout the entire event, James used his excellent MC skills to keep things on schedule but comfortable and fun. Would definitely recommend DJ Big Cali!!

Where do we start?! DJ Big Cali by far exceeded expectations! We had a tough wedding with a mix of Indian music, Mexican music, EDM, old school rap, todays hits, etc. and DJ if Cali absolutely rocked it with the mixes. I've been to many weddings and I've never seen the dance floor so hyped and full the entire time! He was very responsive leading up to our special day and brought the energy we wanted the entire time! He did so well with requests as well from guests. I've been to weddings where the DJ will brush off requests from guests but everyone got what they wanted. I'm still getting texts about how much we killed it at our wedding. Wouldn't want anyone else doing our wedding. Thank you so much!!

Best DJ Everrrr!
My husband and I got married on April 10, 2023 at the Brazilian Room at Tilden Park in Berkeley, CA. DJ Big Cali (James) was our DJ and he literally MADE our wedding! Even the bartender said it was the most lit Monday wedding he'd ever been to - and we definitely have to attribute that to James and the music.
Leading up to the big day, James was super professional and provided us with a planner app to track our timeline and songs for each part of the day, as well as track the minor details like names and pronunciations. A week before the date, we had a final meeting to review the timeline and discuss any outstanding questions, then he took it from there!
James was really great and understood the vibe of what we wanted for our big day. We really appreciate him making our special day even more special. If you're looking for a DJ for your wedding - PICK JAMES!

DJ Big Cali was a fantastic MC and DJ. He actually signed on with us when our other MC/DJ had to drop out very close to our wedding date. He took things over really easily, and made the whole process really fun. On the day of the wedding, he played all the right songs, at the perfect time, without a hitch, for everything from our wedding ceremony, to our cocktail hour, to open dancing, where he made the party happen! Would recommend him in a heartbeat.

We truly had such a wonderful experience with DJ Big Cali. From the start, he showed up with an infectious energy, was extremely patient, excited, skilled, could vibe with any style of music, and even drove all the way to LA for our wedding from the Bay on a New Years…! His dedication to his craft and making couples feel loved while providing a rocking fun time is insane. He also has a beautiful beautiful wedding setup that I didn’t even expect or know I needed! Let me start by saying BOOK DJ BIG CALI FOR YOUR WEDDING RIGHT NOW!!!!!!!! I seriously cannot say enough good things about James and his wife and they were one of the biggest reasons we had the night of our lives.
One of the most important things to me when planning our wedding was finding a fantastic DJ because I knew it would make a big difference in the vibe of the night. So when trying to find someone, I was really feeling the pressure. I am very much someone who goes with my gut, and from my first conversation with James over the phone I knew that he was the right guy. And boy did he deliver!!
From the beginning he was super responsive via email and the music app he used made it super easy to upload songs, playlists, timing, etc. On the day of, he was at the venue early and there were zero issues with set-up/venue coordination. I also have to emphasize that the day of our wedding was New Years Eve 2022, where an atmospheric river hit the Bay Area and there was extreme flooding everywhere (including at our venue). This made for an eventful day, however James WAS NOT PHASED. He wasn’t delayed even a little bit, despite closed and flooded roads. This alone speaks for itself. I was almost in tears when I walked in an hour before our event was scheduled to start and I saw James and his wife there, all ready to go, without a worry in the world.
Throughout the night he was amazing at reading the room, kept the energy up, and the flow was outstanding. So many guests came up to me and commented on “how awesome our DJ was.” People also said they hadn’t danced that hard in years and that’s EXACTLY what we were hoping for. I had no doubt you would do a fabulous job, but FAR exceeded my expectations!
Would recommend DJ Big Cali to anyone and everyone!!

The best wedding DJ out there
I hired James aka DJ Big Cali for my 80 person wedding in Sonoma at MacArthur Place a few weekends ago and he GREATLY exceeded our expectations!
James loves what he does, and his passion for his job feeds into the energy of the guests, which created such a great vibe and fun time on our special day. Afterwards, so many of our friends and guests commented about how amazing our DJ was. We felt we got really lucky to hire him.
James is really well organized, and helps his clients by giving them an easy to use app which helps build out a timeline for their event. While my fiance and I had a good idea of the genres and vibe we wanted, we also gave James free rein to play music he thought our crowd would like, and they loved it.
James also did a great job as an MC during our reception which was super helpful in making sure everything went smoothly while hyping up our guests at the same time. I highly recommend hiring James if you can, he knocked it out of the park.

Best wedding DJ in the Bay!
We had such an amazing experience with DJ Big Cali! He was always responsive and made things run smoothly. I really like the site he set up to add music and it gave clear instruction as to how we wanted the day to run and what songs we wanted to play at certain times. The day of, we didn't have to give instructions he came ahead of schedule to make sure things were working efficiently. We also had a violinist from out of town that he met and worked wonderfully with. Our wedding was wonderful and he played a huge role in that. We also really appreciated how he wanted to incorporate our cultural music. I'm Haitian and my husband is Nigerian he made sure to request that we provide music that the guests as well as us would love to hear and he made it so much fun. I love a DJ that can make smooth transitions between songs and he does an amazing job doing so. He really pays attention to the crowd and brings so much positive energy. His fiancé and him do an amazing job working together and they provide excellent service. If you are looking for great pricing, excellent service, versatility/flexibility and positive/fun energy, then they are the team for you.

HIRE HIM!! Best DJ in the Bay area. My sister hired him for my graduation a few years ago and he knew exactly the music to play. I recently got married and I knew I needed to hire him. James is very punctual and works with you through every step of the way. We used an app to select music to play and it helped me create my wedding Itinerary. On the app you can also invite people to help add songs to Playlist which was a huge help. He stays on top of time and keeps the party going all night long!
Also, add the uplighting for your event, you won't regret it. Any future event I am having I know who to reach out to! My husband and I had such an amazing night. Thanks for everything James!!
