Jim was wonderful to work with and came in last minute to our vendor group, but made miracles happen quickly! The lighting was exactly what we needed to light our venue without it being over done. Thank you! -

Ivonne Sent on 03/02/2014Jim and his crew exceeded my expectations for a beautiful reception set up! Our guest kept commenting how beautiful the uplighting, pin spots and monogram were. The hotel staff even said the hotel ballroom had never looked more beautiful than it did that night. Jim was always so prompt when responding to emails and phone calls. Jim is very easy to talk to and worked with my budget. I can highly recommend Discovery DJ & Lighting. -

Emily Sent on 02/22/2014Jim was amazing! I had called around and talked to a lot of DJs, but Jim was the first one I actually wanted to meet. And after talking to him for an hour, we knew we had found the right guy. He was so down to earth, and laid back, but I could tell he really knew what he was doing. We had a unique situation, because some of my family was going to perform a few songs at the reception, but the rest of the time, we would need a DJ. Jim was so helpful and willing to work with the band. He was even willing to set up a day early, provided some microphones and let the band tap into his sound system. And the music for the whole reception was perfect!! We had a day wedding, but everyone was up and dancing the whole time. He was always on top of things, really responsive to anything I needed, and always did it with a smile on his face. I would highly recommend working with Jim!! -

Jennifer Sent on 11/10/2013I highly recommend Discovery DJ and Lighting. Jim was a fantastic Master of Ceremony for our wedding. He was very professional and made everyone feel comfortable. He took the time to get to know my husband and I, and made sure he put together a playlist that fit the theme we were looking for, and to keep the reception lively and fun for our guests. Everyone raved about how fun the wedding was. We had a packed dance floor.
Jim also fully prepared the Fathers before their speeches, letting them know how they would be introduced, where to stand and how to hold the mic. Everything was perfect.
His lighting completely transformed the ballroom -- it was awash in beautiful colors and made everything feel so warm and elegant.
You can't go wrong with Jim! -

Kelley Sent on 06/06/2013Jim is an incredible dj he did such an amazing job at my wedding I couldn't have asked for any better I Recieved what I wanted for the music for my wedding he did it so perfect even the music level you were still able to have a conversation with someone without screaming which my family really appreciated also he mixed the music up sense there was different ages at the wedding did oldies new songs and line dances that everyone knew which made it a blast he is the best dj out there so if your looking to throw a good party I would go with him he does amazing job and made my wedding party incredible I had so much fun. -

Kara Sent on 11/15/2012Jim did an incredible job as our DJ/MC! I still remember halfway through our first meeting with Jim saying, "I love you, where do we sign?" haha. Jim has a way of putting you at ease...he has a wealth of experience and good tips, a laid back personality, and he immediately won us over. Not to mention, he does so much to customize the wedding to the bride/groom's wishes--he wanted it to be what we wanted...to help make our vision for the music, toasts, dances, etc., come to life. He was organized, in regular contact with us and so responsive to our questions and requests.
On the day of the event, he kept things flowing, checked in with us, and was willing to make changes on a dime if I asked him to kill a song or to play something out of the blue. He adapted well to our group, and for a day wedding, we had a pretty impressive dance floor!
You will not work with a nicer vendor during your wedding process--he is accommodating, professional and delivers a quality product. We could not recommend him more to other brides/grooms in DFW!!

Jim did an excellent job of translating our more casual, eclectic style into a very fun reception, while still maintaining the formalities and pleasing my more conservative family. Jim was incredibly accommodating through the planning process, his flexibility was invaluable. He is very professional and our reception was a huge hit because of him. I knew that I would not have a thing to worry about that night with Jim in charge. -

Maiko Sent on 11/20/2011We can't thank Jim enough for the wonderful entertainment/MC, beautiful lighting and the personalized service that he provided during our wedding reception. From the first meeting, Jim was professional, prompt and organized; We immediately knew that he was our perfect match.
We were able to relax and enjoy the reception knowing that he was our MC. We've received many compliments on the music selections and the entertainment. I know my mom had a few glasses of wine, but I've never seen her have so much fun on the dance floor! We would recommend Jim from Discovery DJ without reservation. -

Sara Sent on 11/10/2011Oh my... I wish I could think of something to add that has not already been said as I couldn't agree more with all that has been said about Jim. My husband and I met Jim several months our and knew right away he was "good people." He is professional, talented, friendly, and leaves you with the feeling of true contentment as well as excitement for the big day. If you want to remove music from your list of things to worry or even think about, then hire Discovery DJs. Jim's website makes it fun and super convenient to customize your music to whatever extent you'd like. But, know, that if you leave any of it up to Jim's excpertise then you're completely covered as well.
Jim provided music for both my outdoor ceremony and my reception (same venue). Both areas were set up ahead of time and ready to go. Although most blogs I read said dancing was not usually in the cards for a brunch reception, our fabulous music selection (rat pack like oldies) had everyone dancing at a consistant rate. And, as another reviewer stated, there was never a song played that raised eyebrows or decreased participation on the dance floor! We had a blast!
Honestly, with so much to plan for, knowing that I did not have to worry about anything regarding our DJ selection and music was the biggest gift a girl could ask for during such a busy time!

Nancy Sent on 05/25/2010Jim in an amazing DJ!! He did everything we asked him to do and played amazing songs! He has a great website and is very organized. He even took pictures for us and posted them on facebook! I would recommend him to anybody!! -
Emily Sent on 01/03/2018Jim was amazing! The lighting was perfect, we absolutely loved our go-bo, very crisp and fit our wedding theme perfectly. We had him DJ ceremony, cocktail hour and an hour + of our reception, then a band took over, but he played the perfect mix of music and everyone had so much fun! The best part was his new Photo Booth .. that was a HIT! It was super sleek/small and didn't take up much space but as soon as our guests knew we had that they LOVED it! Thank you for everything you did to make our event look stunning and helping our guests have a blast!
