I don’t even know where to begin, Margie of Dirigo Event Co is truly one of the brightest lights and we could sense that from our very first encounter over FaceTime. We contracted Margie to be our day of coordinator but it felt like we got so much more. With us being from out of state she really put things in sport mode and made sure every little detail/vendor was in place.Margie went above and beyond throughout this process, very communicative and fast acting, she was very calming and high energy at the same time and just made you feel important and secure. I truly felt as though she was with us this entire journey, she was always willing to listen to us if we needed to discuss ideas and we valued her input greatly because she really is a pro at what she does. The actual “day of” was just so seamless, well planned and executed beautifully. Handling all of our vendors, fine details and checking in with us really put us at ease and allowed for a stress free event, truly a well oiled machine. Margie has this chill, loving, warm energy about her that just made this whole process so easy. We’re so thankful for Dirigo Event Co for making our wedding unforgettable, and will forever look back on this time with our hearts so full. -

Every vendor we worked with knew her and said the same thing, “We love working with Margie.” Even our guests were raving about how wonderful she was!

I truly can not say enough wonderful things about Margie and Dirigo Event Co., when it comes to having them as apart of your vendor team for one of the most important days of your life. My now husband and I came across Margie and her team as a rec from our wedding venue Autumn Lane Estate and from our first call I knew Margie was going to make all of our wedding dreams come to life. Entering wedding planning, you think you can easily plan a wedding without a planner but that is until you meet Margie and experience her expertise and knowledge first hand. Every month leading up to the wedding I looked forward to our calls as Margie came organized, professional, and open minded when helping us plan our wedding. No detail was forgotten leading up to the wedding with a timeline down to every 5 minutes with my husband and I at the center of it all. Planning a wedding at our wonderful venue meant renting everything and outsourcing every other vendor and Margie came with ideas and recs of wonderful vendors to create the most amazing team that worked seamlessly together. Overall, I can not recommend Margie and her team enough not only is she extremely professional and talented at what she does, ensuring leading up to our wedding day and the actual event were perfect, she is also SO caring. I felt like every meeting was talking to an excited friend who couldn't wait to watch us celebrate our marriage. 10000/10, there are not enough stars or accolades we could give Margie and her team. She made stressful wedding planning seem effortless and our day would not have come together how it did without her team. -

We worked with Margie on a partial planner package and could not have dreamed up a better experience. She took us on early in our planning process which was so helpful as we had a two year engagement and were looking for a lot of general support and education on the wedding industry. From our very first meeting, she made us feel at ease, taking the time to get to know us as a couple and asking questions to understand our vision. We wanted a guest centric wedding that felt true to us (and a day we'd enjoy!) and she went above and beyond to make that a reality.
Margie has an incredible attention to detail, a calm, joyful, and supportive demeanor, and the expertise to guide you where needed. She is highly responsive, and has built strong relationships with various vendors in the Portland area, which proved invaluable. Because of her, planning our wedding was not a stressful time for us - which is such a gift!
On the day of our wedding, everything was perfect! The coordination was seamless, and we were able to truly relax and enjoy every moment. As a bride, I wasn't worried, or even thinking of anything other than enjoying the day, because I knew Margie had everything covered and, thanks to her detailed day-of timeline, I also had insight into what was happening when, so nothing was a surprise.
If you’re looking for a wedding planner who is professional, dedicated, and genuinely cares, look no further than Margie. We honestly cannot say enough wonderful things about her as a professional and on a personal level. Choosing her as our planner was the best decision we made and we'd recommend her a million times!!

If you are getting married in the Portland Area, go with Margie. Her connection to the locations and vendors in the area are invaluable, and her experience in planning and executing will undoubtedly make your wedding day go as perfectly as you could dream. Her preexisting relationships with all of our vendors made the planning process an absolute breeze, and we truly cannot imagine having planned it without her. What sets Margie apart, though, is her energy. Having someone who got us more and more excited about our wedding each step of the way, during a process that can sometimes be rife with stress, is what put this process over the top for us. It felt more like a dear friend was helping to plan our wedding than it did a wedding planner. We left every call with Margie without a worry and feeling so secure in our progress. After several interviews with other Wedding Planners in the area, Margie of Dirigo Event Co. stood out from the rest with her charming personality and genuine interest in getting to know us (the clients) beyond a superficial level. Her relationship forward approach to planning not only shone through our personal experiences with her, but also through the established relationships and network she holds with a variety of vendors. Her ability to leverage already existing relationships and establish new ones alike was both impressive and utile throughout our planning experience.
Margie was with us every step of the way, assisting in making recommendations for vendors while never pressuring us to lean a particular way. She listened to our interests and ideas, as crazy as they may have been, and worked with us to bring our vision to life. Her calm yet high energy demeanor on top of her communication and ability to be reached throughout made for an enjoyable and albeit FUN planning experience. No task was too big nor too small; she truly is a planner of many hats which took a lot of stress off our plates.
The day of our wedding, Margie was a true chameleon; blending into the crowd with our loved ones and magically emerging whenever we needed something or had questions. We swear she has a sixth sense! Any hiccups that occurred day-of were masterfully handled with speed and discretion.

If you are getting married in the Maine area, RUN, don't walk to book Margie as your planner! Margie is not just the best planner you will ever have (which she is AMAZING at, by the way), but also a friend. We booked Margie at Dirigo Event Co for event coordination for our June 2024 wedding and we're so happy we did! She swooped in and hit the ground running at the perfect time, helping us stay organized and tie up the final wedding details just as planning had started to feel overwhelming. I was initially skeptical when my fiancé suggested that we hire a wedding coordinator - I thought that we would be better off handling the planning on our own. I was wrong! After we hired Margie we were immediately less stressed. Margie was kind, thoughtful, and wonderful throughout the entire process and perfectly guided us through a day that was a lot more complicated than we initially realized - separate locations for the ceremony and reception, two different food vendors, and a venue that almost had to cancel on us. She kept her cool the entire time and her enthusiasm is contagious. She also has great taste and great recommendations for local vendors. She also is very non-judgmental about anything anyone chooses for their wedding and just wants it to be perfect for the couple, however they envision it!
We will be recommending her to everyone we know who is planning on getting married in Maine. Thank you Margie!! -

We fell in love with a venue for our August wedding in Maine. A beautiful barn that was a blank canvas. It wasn’t until later that we discovered just how much organizing that meant! We were feeling overwhelmed before we started working with Margie (owner of and planner at Dirigo Event Co.). In our first meeting, Margie was prepared, well organized, and incredibly reassuring with a clear outline of what we needed to get to our big day successfully. Margie’s cheerful demeanor and thoughtful planning process made us feel confident that we’d get everything planned and ready in time for our wedding. Involved with every detail, Margie was great at listening to our ideas for the wedding and making insightful recommendations that both aligned with our vision and respected our budget. We would have frequent meetings throughout the year-and-a-half of planning, including general vision-board-style meetings, site visits, and meetings dedicated to logistics. Margie’s energetic attitude always left us feeling more excited for the big day that was coming together. Especially as the wedding day drew nearer, Margie’s help was invaluable as she coordinated directly with the multitude of vendors. One of our major wedding dreams may seem unrealistic–to have a stress-free day for ourselves and our families. But with Margie, we knew we could trust in the work that had gone into the celebration. On the wedding day itself, we were able to be fully present to spend quality time with each other and our guests. We had the beautiful luxury to focus on the moments while Margie took care of all the details (managing the timeline, setting up tables, coordinating all the vendors, and so much more) and our family and closest friends were able to be present for our celebration. We had so much fun working with Margie and still can’t believe how magical our wedding day was! We highly and enthusiastically recommend Margie and Dirigo Event Co. for your wedding. -

Margie is PHENOMENAL. It is hard to summarize all the ways that Margie is incredible, but simply put she is kind, warm, and funny and also an absolute BOSS.
After meeting for the first time with Margie, we felt immediately that she "got us" and we would remark on this often after talking with her. We had some unconventional details in our wedding (non-traditional processional, a casual buffet dinner, many speeches and a song performed by friends, 130 handmade friendship bracelets on the bar made by this Swiftie bride...) and Margie not only rolled with them, but celebrated them. We always felt that she was prioritizing our happiness above all else. She never tried to sell us on items we didn't feel we needed, and even found places to help us save money. We trusted that she was creating a wedding for us and our loved ones, not for content and likes. (ALTHOUGH it doesn't hurt that she has a fabulous social media presence where she made us feel like celebrities around our wedding and also really seen and cared for and celebrated).
The Monday before our wedding it became clear it was going to pour on our wedding day. (Because it was a Saturday in 2023). We asked Margie if we needed a bigger tent for cocktail hour. When she told us yes, we completely trusted her because she never tried to upsell us or push services on us. It was the best decision we made-- we keep saying "I'm so glad we got the bigger tent." Our original rain plan was to have guests sit at tables in the barn for the ceremony with a quick turnaround. However at the rehearsal, Margie asked me "what would your absolute ideal set up be?" When I hesitantly told her that it would be to have rows of chairs for the ceremony followed by a total turnover to long tables for dinner, she replied without hesitation, "then that's what we will do." I never heard another word about this and behind the scenes (I learned later) Margie expertly mobilized our team of vendors and groomsmen to entirely flip the barn, making our cozy twinkly barn dreams come true for both the ceremony and the reception.
Margie is meticulous and detail-oriented-- her planning software was easy to use and ensured that we had thought of every detail ahead of time. Margie's survey even asks tactfully if there are any family or cultural dynamics she should be aware of, which we found to be smart and thoughtful. She is the consummate professional and incredibly responsive over email. She expertly interfaced with vendors as any questions came up.
At one point in wedding planning, I said to my husband that maybe we should have gotten married closer to home since we live out of state. To which he replied, "But then we wouldn't have Margie" which pretty much sums it up. Margie will always be really special to us for the way she helped us execute our wedding with so much humor, warmth, kindness, and excitement. We could not recommend her services more highly and can't wait to see where Dirigo goes next!

Margie was an incredible and essential partner in successfully planning and pulling off our wedding. She's SO good at what she does -- she's knowledgable, creative, insightful, empathetic, pragmatic, organized, communicative...all the things needed to be an amazing wedding planner.
Throughout the year leading up to our wedding, Margie helped keep us organized, calm and confident. From the start, she immediately understood us and what we wanted our event to be like. She brought incredible ideas to the table to make our vision a reality. She strikes a great balance of being amazingly creative yet also practical, always keeping us grounded in what's possible and how we could bring our ideas to life in a realistic way.
She's also a skilled relationship builder -- she has a special way of understanding what will work best for her clients and tailoring her approach to their disposition and needs. Unsurprisingly, she has also built incredible relationships with community of wedding vendors in Maine, from florists to caterers to venue managers, and she is trusted and appreciated by all who work with her. This goes such a long way in making the event successful and enjoyable for all.
Our wedding turned out to put all of us to the test due to some crazy weather circumstances, and Margie truly saved the day. From the start, we knew we had a logistically complicated event: a big wedding (180) on Peaks Island at TEIA, where all rentals etc were ferried over from Portland, plus lots of DIY elements. No small feat to begin with. Then, just a few days before the wedding, we discovered that a hurricane was barreling toward Portland, and we had to move the whole event a day earlier to avoid the storm. In this hectic time, Margie snapped into action with her customary calm, positive, and productive approach, and she helped us seamlessly pull off the crazy feat. The event turned out to be a huge success and every vendor was able to make the shift relatively seamlessly. So many friends and family have asked me, "how did you you pull this off? how did you get every vendor to move up a day?"...and I know that the answer is that Margie made it happen. Her trust and goodwill with the vendor team, her problem-solving skills, and her level headedness were essential in smoothly pivoting to a new plan. We truly couldn't have done it without her.
On a final note, Margie is just generally an awesome person, and she made the whole wedding planning process FUN! We had a great time together throughout, and I always looked forward to our calls and meetings. Working with her felt like having an incredibly fun and supportive (and also extremely competent and badass) friend by my side.
I'd strongly recommend Margie to anyone planning a wedding in Maine. She will understand you and your vision, she'll make it happen, and she'll make the whole process enjoyable. I feel so lucky to have met Margie and worked with her in planning my wedding. -

Margie helped us from an early stage in the planning process for our wedding. We had a couple vendors picked out, but Margie helped fill in the gaps with recommendations and managed most of the communication for us. Periodic meetings kept us on track so that we never felt overwhelmed by the tasks left to do. For the day of, Margie put together a production schedule, led the the ceremony rehearsal, and manage vendors before, during, and after the reception. We were able to enjoy the day without any worry! It would be impossible to say enough wonderful things about Dirigo Event Co and the inimitable woman behind it, Margie Welch. Hiring her was worth it ten times over and I have no doubt that the reason I have only incredible memories of our wedding day is down to her. I spoke to a number of planners before meeting Margie and always felt a bit uncomfortable, like I was trying to impress someone. Not Margie. From the first moment she was easy to talk to, funny, and personable, and I felt like she genuinely cared about not just our wedding, but me and my husband as well. However, don't let how calm she seems and how easy she is to work with fool you: she is a serious pro! She was unfailingly organized, timely, and reliable and knows her stuff inside and out. She did not miss one, and I mean one, detail. Knowing that someone as talented, experienced, and committed as her had our backs gave us so much peace of mind. On the day of the wedding itself she was absolutely everywhere, making sure things went off flawlessly. On top of all of that she is an awesome woman business owner and a champion for other local businesses and artists. She has incredible knowledge of and connections in the Maine wedding industry and repeatedly texted vendors she knew to ask questions or suggested local artists to fill our vendor needs. Unparalleled secret weapon
Margie was a godsend; a seamless addition to what I had started on my own. She took every piece, made it better and smoother. Her decorum with each vendor was truly an art. In retrospect, my only change would be to have found her sooner. We were able to enjoy our day with an air effortlessness that would have been otherwise unattainable without her. There aren't even words to express how much Margie from Dirigo Event Co. means to us. Our wedding was absolutely flawless. It was everything I had ever dreamed of and more thanks to her. Margie was pivotal in making our wedding day a success! We had an instant connection from the start and it set the tone for the rest of the planning process. She is so easy to work with from her awesome personality to her attention to detail, we couldn’t have picked anyone better. After 6 months of being engaged we found out we were expecting a baby boy just three months before our wedding. Margie quickly offered to adjust the terms of our contract to allow us to start planning and detailing early so that when the baby arrived, we would have plenty of time to enjoy him and not be stressed about the wedding plans. Her personality and energy took away any stress that we had and allowed us to fully enjoy our wedding weekend with friends and family. I (the bride) am the type of person who likes to see everything and make sure everything is where I want it etc but on the wedding day I had none of those feelings as I knew Margie had it under control and would make sure everything was perfect. I never thought we needed a wedding planner but after this experience, a month of planner was exactly what we needed. -

I can't say enough good things about Margie and her team at Dirigo Event Company! From the first time I spoke with her I knew that I wanted her to be our coordinator. I am not someone who was overly confident about the planning process of a wedding and she immediately made me feel very comfortable.
Margie was a lot more than a "day of coordinator." She officially started 2 months prior to the wedding, she stepped in during the most critical time period to help tie everything together, make sure nothing fell through the cracks, and to help with anything I needed help with. I can't put into words everything she did to help me with this process but she took away a lot of the stress I was carrying about planning a "blank canvas" wedding; for example, one day she asked what I had left on my to do list. She asked if it was something I would like her to do and within a half hour it was done. This task would have probably taken me days to get to but because of Margie it was off my plate. Another example, I was stressed about the floral decor on my tables and she came up with the plan to get it done. The list of examples could go on and on.
On the day of the wedding, I did not have to deal with anything. I was able to be present and enjoy the moment, with my bridal party and my fiancé, and just have fun. That is truly the best gift anyone could give a bride! She checked in with me, my fiancé, and our bridal parties multiple times throughout the day to ensure we were all doing great. She ensured everything was set up as we discussed and she was the point person for all vendors. As much as you plan, there is always something that comes up on the wedding day that you didn't plan for. Margie and her team made sure that it was handled without me having any idea!
To put it simply, Margie was the best vendor I had on my vendor team (and I had a really good vendor team) and I don't know what I would have done without her. If you are looking for a coordinator, Margie and her team is who you want! Our entire bridal party and our families have all commented on how great Margie was and my fiancé and I could not agree more. -

Hands down, the best decision we made was to put our trust in Margie. From the very first phone call, to the zoom meetings, to the many e-mails and texts exchanged back and forth, Margie was absolutely amazing. Communication was so easy and she was always right there to answer a question or offer her expert advice. She coordinated with all of our vendors to make sure our big day ran as smooth as possible. In fact, there was nothing that was mixed up, missing, or forgotten! You hear so many stories from people “just prepare yourself that the day of your wedding things will go wrong and just let it go… blah blah blah….” Thanks to Margie, nothing went wrong! She is so organized, so on the ball, and so prepared. She has this wonderful calm approach to everything she does, which was honestly our favorite thing about her. She does not get frazzled, does not get upset (even when the wedding napkins are missing and it’s time to set the tables….don’t worry Margie found them!). She is simply the kindest, most wonderful wedding planner you could have at your side on your wedding day. She’s like a friend. In fact, right before my dad and I were about to walk down the aisle, he pointed over to Margie and said "that girl right there has done the most incredible job to make this day so beautiful, I am so impressed by her and she is just so happy and so sweet!” My dad’s words could not be more true. She smiles all day, treats you and your guests like royalty, and truly makes the day so special for you. She is professional and approachable. All of our vendors were commenting on how great she was to work with. There are truly not enough good things to say about Margie from Dirigo Event Co! We absolutely loved working with her! From the first time we met (over Zoom) she was warm, friendly, and easy to communicate with. I've also never seen anyone respond to emails so fast. She always went above and beyond to help us plan every detail and made the planning process fun. She helped us plan ahead for things we hadn't thought of and always put us at ease with quick and easy solutions for any unforeseen surprises in the planning process. She has also been in the industry for many years and has built relationships with many of the vendors in the area - who clearly love her too. During the rehearsal and day of the wedding, Margie was always calm, professional and went above and beyond to make sure we all felt welcome and well taken care of.
