Wedding Cake

Our wedding cake from Dewey’s was absolutely beautiful and delicious. The piping work was incredibly skilled, and the final design exceeded our expectations. They were easy to work with, flexible, and delivered exactly what we hoped for. Highly recommend!

I had spoken with several bakers about our wedding cak and they all quoted me these insane prices. Ket me just say the cakes were good and the price they gave was $800-$1000 less than the other bakeries

We used Dewey's Bakery from Winston Salem for my daughter's wedding in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. The bride went to school at Wake Forest and Dewey's held a special memory for the bride and groom. I wasn't sure if they would deliver, but they were extremely easy to work with. We ordered the wedding cake and then extra cake squares to be delivered to each table. The cake was so good! Cake was wonderful. Dewey's was easy to work with. Delivery was on time and they also provided me with boxes for left over cake. It was a great take home for my guest.

I grew up having Dewey's Cakes for my birthdays. When it came to my wedding cake I knew I couldn't go anywhere else. I sat down with Maria and we worked through my exact specifications for what I wanted the cake to look like. She drew out a plan and had some great insight on how to "dress it up". At the wedding I had a lot of out of town guests who just loved the cake. We had several different cake flavors and their favorite was the Pink Lemonade. The best part is they also give you another top layer for your 1 year anniversary so you don't have to freeze it!

Dewey's did a great job on our wedding cake. It was beautiful and delicious! Dewey's was very accommodating when we scheduled a tasting ahead of time, and they had a great selection of cakes. It was easy to choose one because they have several model cakes on the shelves as well as photo albums. They also did a great job advising us on the size of the cake. Everything was super-easy. They delivered the cake on time. We also rented a cake stand, which was beautiful. I highly recommend Dewey's.

As a note of comparison, we first had a tasting at another bakery but they were more expensive, didn't have a good selection of photos to look at, and only made one flavor of cake.

From the cake tasting to the day of the wedding, everything was wonderful! We were able to customize our cake to fit our needs, pick different flavors for different layers, and not spend a fortune! The cake was delicious (plus we got a free anniversary cake with our order!)! I would definitely recommend this vendor!

Dewey's provided exactly what I wanted as a wedding cake: elegant, not frozen, reasonably priced & edible. When we went for our tasting we were blown away by almost every thing we tried. We had talked about getting a small 2 tiered cake for us to cut, and then cake squares to keep costs down. This worked perfectly especially since we could order as many different flavors in squares as we wanted. The person who we worked with promised us that our cake would not be frozen. The design turned out exactly how we wanted it. And everyone loved our cake! We ordered 120 cake squares, our 2 tiered cake was another 100 slices, and there was NONE left, there were only 90 guests at our wedding. People went back and had 2 or 3 slices, and tried all 3 flavors or got a second piece of their favorite. I've been to a lot of weddings and never seen people eat cake like they did at our wedding (especially with a cocktail hour with hor d'oeuvres, & full buffet dinner). Dewey's was truly great to work with! You also get a fresh cake for your anniversary!

Dewey's provided a delicious and gorgeous cake for our wedding day. Katy was great, as my husband wanted to design the cake himself. She took our ideas and made them look even better than we could envision. Also, it was the best tasting red velvet cake I have ever had. Thanks so much for all your hard work!

We LOVED our pink lemonade / white cake from Dewey's. It was beautiful, delicious, reasonably priced -- everything we wanted. Katie worked beautifully with us and made us feel completely at ease on a topic we weren't exactly educated on. Would absolutely recommend Dewey's to anyone looking for a simple, beautiful, delicious wedding cake (or any other treats!)

Delicious! Even better than the cake in the bakeries! They also give you a free 6 inch round cake for your one year anniversary, any flavor, so you don't have to eat the frozen leftover cake!

Dewey's actually provided my Groom's cake (we had someone else do the actual wedding cake) and they did such a great job! I had them do a carrot cake in the shape of a fish with a hook in its mouth that said "To the catch of a lifetime" and it was SO cute. The fish actually looked a little bit like a whale rather than a fish but it was cute nonetheless LOL. The cake was delicious and moist! I would definitely recommend!!

We had cupcakes for our wedding in four different flavors. They were delicious and beautiful. For us, cupcakes were a nice economical way to have guest choose their flavor of cake. Dewey's was a joy to work with!

We went to the wedding boutique near Old Salem and had a wonderful, personal experience. There were many samples to taste and tons of photos etc. They took a napkin to match the blue and drew out the design that I requested. It was going to be chocolate and pink lemonade rotating layers. The cake arrived @ Tanglewood on time and it was perfect in every way. This was one wedding item I was confident would be taken care of by Dewey's. They did an amazing job! Working with Katy was an absolute joy. She was very flexible and creative. The cakes turned out beautiful and was easily the best tasting wedding cake ever. The red velvet is to die for and the pink lemonade is awesome. I highly recommend Dewey's.

My wedding cake was not only beautiful but it also taste amazing!! Not a bite was left on the cake plate at the end of the night and everyone went back for seconds!

Also, instead of the hassle of trying to save the top tier for our one year anniversary, you can actually call dewey's on your one year anniversary and they give you a free - FRESH! - cake to enjoy in celebration on your first year...we cannot wait!

Our cake was beautiful and delicious! I'm very happy we chose Dewey's to make our cake because it has been my favorite cake since I was a little girl. For sake of having to chose one kind of cake to have, the Dewey's staff suggested that I have each tier a different flavor. This appealed to everyone: the chocolate lover's had chocolate, the kids had lemonade cake, and I of course had my favorite white cake!

Wonderful Cake and Experience

We chose Dewey's because it was a local bakery and their options for cake were budget-friendly. We got a small two-tier cake for cutting and cake squares in 3 flavors for guests. We were able to do a tasting and design the cake with an employee in person, which was helpful in making the final decisions. There was a small mixup in the total amount when I needed to make changes to the amount of cake needed and the finishing touches on the cake, but my order was accurate and it all looked and tasted wonderful.

When I tested cakes, I went to one other shop before going to Dewey's and while the cake at the other shop was fantastic, that was about it. Dewey's cake is not only delicious but Katy was a joy to work with. She is such a calming presence and was so helpful in the creation process. I probably had some difficult visual requests to fill, but overall Katy made it happen. The only thing I wish was that my cake had been a little taller, but that may have been more the design I chose than how it was assembled and displayed.

One comparison between Dewey's at the other bakery I went to was the feeling that I was getting a cake at a reasonable price. At the other bakery, there were charges for EVERY little thing... I felt "nickeled and dimed". But, not at Dewey's. Yes, a wedding cake can be expensive, but Dewey's was reasonable for what you received.

The other thing I love is that Dewey's gives you a voucher for a 1st Anniversary cake. What a great idea!!! The thought of freezing good cake and struggling through that on our first anniversary was a bit nauseating! So, I'm so excited to be able to get a fresh cake when our year comes around!

Overall, Dewey's was fantastic. They haven't been around Winston-Salem with an established name for no good reason. Their cake is fabulous, their service is highly professional, and they make the process more affordable than most. Pick Dewey's, you absolutely won't regret it!

Our wedding cake was stunning. It was beautifully done and made to fit us as a couple perfectly. The cake itself was extremely moist and fresh. So many guests swear it was the best wedding cake they had ever had. Those leftovers did not last long at all. I highly recommend Dewey's Bakery. It's a great place.

Was not told cream cheese icing could not be left our more than 3 hours. Found this out reading blogs. Had to adjust delivery time. But they did accommodate us well. Meeting with them was difficult once they closed the wedding cake building and had to go directly to the bakery for any changes. Very busy place. Cake was made exactly as we asked. Very good tasting. Dewey's bakery is always a favorite.

Delicious!

We placed our cake order for 150 squares and one 8” layered cake over a month in advance. Less than a week before our wedding, we were informed due to a supply chain issue that we couldn’t have the flavors we’d selected. (Carrot cake was unavailable.) This was obviously upsetting, but we made a substitution to strawberry. The cake we received didn’t match the color palette we’d emailed exactly, but it was close enough to the inspiration design that we didn’t care to push and have it fixed. (Powder/baby blue instead of teal, purplish pink instead of baby pink.) While all of that was frustrating for us as the couple, our guests had no idea and truly enjoyed the cake!! It looked beautiful and tasted great. We wish we’d been compensated in some way for the cake flavor changing from Carrot to Strawberry last minute, but all in all it worked out and our guests were happy.

Yum Yum Yum!!! That says all. My wedding was May 29th, 2010 and we were trying to pull off a luau type theme. We decided to go with a pink lemonade wedding cake. People are still talking about it!! Pink Lemonade cake is real known and popular in Winston-Salem but we decided to change it up a little. We are big cream cheese icing lovers. So instead of the usual buttercream icing, we chose cream cheese icing. It was awesome!! We loved it and so did everyone else. I had taken Kate a picture of exactly what I wanted and that's exactly what I got. I was a little confused on what size cake I wanted and Kate was very helpful in showing the actual sizes which helped alot!! Thanks Dewey's!!!

We got a 4 tier cake from Dewey's. 2 tiers were pumpkin spice cake with cream cheese icing and 2 were white with white icing. They do not use fondant unless they absolutely have to, so the whole cake tastes good. This was by far the best cake I've ever had. However, if you speak with one of the young girls who work there part time, they are very unfriendly and not very helpful. You can tell they don't want to be there. But working with Maria to design the cake was a very pleasant experience, despite the cake being so expensive.

The taste of the cake is amazing. The price is a shocker for sure but it is worth the quality. It was hard to get in contact with someone (well I mean the same person) on the phone. We are an out of town couple so we were only able to meet on Saturday. If you have time to get in town sooner please do so.
