Ask for Jaime, she's so helpful!

I had a really wonderful experience at Designer Loft, especially thanks to my stylist Jaime. She was very knowledgeable about their collection and so attentive to the details I was looking for! I loved the dresses she brought for me to try on, and was just so compassionate and patient through the whole process. It really made a huge difference, and I'm so happy I was working with her when I finally found the wedding dress I'm going to wear. If you go to Designer Loft, I definitely recommend you ask for Jaime!

Shopping at Designer Loft was one of the most enjoyable parts of my wedding experience. The staff was incredibly patient, and helped me make my final decision because I was very indecisive. The fitting process was a breeze, and my dress was the perfect fit. I give designer loft 5 stars!

Designer Loft was the first and only place I visited in my search for a wedding gown. They have a great selection of gowns, in all different styles. I tried on six or seven different gowns, but knew the first one I put on was "the one". The helpful staff had suggested I bring in a few pictures of gowns that I liked from magazines and websites, to get an idea of what I should try on. I only found one picture to bring with me, and that exact gown was hanging right in front of me as soon as I walked in! The sales person that helped me, Eileen, was helpful and patient, as my friends and family all commented on and gushed over each gown. After I made my selection, the seamstress and assistants were all great in each one of my fitting appointments, and my gown was ready right on time. Everything was perfect!

GORGEOUS DRESSES, INCREDIBLE SERVICE, EXCELLENT SEAMSTRESS
Designer Loft is a great bridal salon with amazing gown selection, extremely knowledgeabe staff and excellent seamstress. They have a large selection of dresses, veils and accessories. They carry loads of different designers, styles, fabrics that can work for many body types and tastes, and they give incredible customer service throughout the process. I had a wonderful experience at Designer Loft. The owner Liz and the salespeople are extremely knowledgeable in their suggestions of gowns. They truly care about you finding the perfect dress by asking thoughtful questions such as venue, time of day and dress attire. They gave me great advice and helped to guide me toward the most amazing dress. The seamstress did an amazing job making my gown fit so perfectly on me. My gown was very delicate as it as it was a lace dress so the tailoring was very complicated. The end result was a stunning dress. I ABSOLUTELY and HIGHLY recommend Designer Loft to any bride-to-be who is looking for a 5 star experience with great selection of dresses. They are the best!

I have tried many dresses before I found this store. It was right by my work. It is small and very neat and clean. I found the dress on the trunk show rack and I loved my dress right away. I wasn't looking for a ballgown or any big dress, but I wanted something elegant and classy.
The service is impeccable, the quality of gowns are top notch, the prices are affordable and the owner is such a sweetheart. I loved this store. All the three fittings I did were very easy and the tailors they have, Natasha and Marina, are amazing!
I really recommend to the brides, you will definetely find something for yourself.

I found the dress of my dreams and everywhere I went it wouldn't be in in time for my wedding, but Designer Loft had the dress and to make my dream wedding dress a reality, they let me buy the sample size. They were absolutely amazing.

I am a very picky bride and wanted something unique and different. My consultant provided a range of good options, but nothing was exactly what I wanted. She recommended that I go with a custom gown. I thought there was no way I would be able to afford it on my budget, but surprisingly, they worked with me and my limited budget, and I was able to work with Elen Paumere (a very talented dress designer) to get exactly what I wanted. However, at the first fitting, it was so tight that they couldn't zip it up, even though I hadn't gained any weight, which was strange because it was custom made for me. But, it zipped on my wedding day, so that's what counts. Also, the women who work there are very sweet, high energy ladies who really want to help you realize your vision. I only gave them 3 stars for responsiveness because if you e-mail them, they may or may not get back to you. You definitely have to call them if you want to convey something. I found that even when they e-mailed me with a question, if I e-mailed back, my message wasn't received. But, the designer (Elen) was extremely responsive to e-mail. Overall, I had a very positive experience with them, and the dress is absolutely gorgeous!

Wonderful experience with Designer Loft. Beautiful selection of traditional and less structured gowns. Found a gorgeous sample - they were flexible in working out a price for me (poor grad student). They included alteration and cleaning in the cost of the gown. Followed through on both beautifully. Were always friendly and helpful. Had the dress ready for me when I needed it. LOVED my dress - wish I could wear it again!

After getting my dress here I've sent three friends who have all ended up finding dresses. It's a small place, not like RK or Kleinfelds but they have a large selection of gowns at a variety of prices and give very personal attention that was well worth it to me.

Designer Loft has some very beautiful things for sale, but do not be fooled by the reviews or listings in NYMag that claim this place is deeply discounted. None of the dresses I tried were anything other than full-price. The dress I got came from the maker in my measurements and fit so well as to need nothing more in the way of alteration than the addition of a French train and taking the hem up an inch. That inch cost me almost $300. I felt taken advantage of—there had been no discussion of what the alteration would cost (which is probably my fault for not asking). But if *I*, as a wedding professional, knew that I was about to charge someone $300 for a hem, I would make that customer aware. When I tried to talk the price down, they were inflexible. Their accessories are also overpriced. Also, and this is no longer an issue, but when I first showed up to try dresses, they were remodeling and I was stuck in a broom closet (I'm being completely literal) with a consultant. It was awkward.

They gave me a great deal on my dress. It was altered to fit me perfectly. We treated the dress with great care obviously, however the bustle broke before I even got to the reception. A friend had to sew it up during the cocktail hour. They should put a little more effort into their work to make sure it lasts during the entire wedding.

My dress was completely perfect. I originally went to Designer Loft though for a specific dress. Called and they said they had it. When I went (only 2 weeks later) they did not have the dress I was looking for. Ended up being a blessing in disguise because the dress I ended up with could not have been more perfect, but just make sure they really do have what you want before you go there!

Did they get me the best dress ever? Yes. and at a decent price. However, once the fitting started i was LESS than pleased. The first fitting i had, i was joking with my sister in law about underarm 'jiggle' and the sales girl helping me said 'um yeah you need to do a LOT of pushups before the wedding'. Hey guess what, that's not funny & i'm not a heavy girl by any means....I also found the owner to be very rude when she called me about picking up my dress. They left a bad taste in my mouth. I did however LOVE the sales girl Nicole so if you go there, request her, she was so sweet and nice. everyone else there, eh.

Difficult review to write here, as this will be my ONE negative review of my wedding day. The dress selection was a painless, lovely experience. Of course it was, they want a sale! I went in thinking I wanted a certain dress, and when my sister said she wasn't satisfied with it, my consultant pulled two more dresses and the 2nd was perfect. Bought it that day. Despite poor alterations reviews, I eventually decided to get the alterations there. Things started out fine, but at my final fitting, 4 days before my wedding, my dress was not done. They had explanations: one of the seamstresses is at the hospital.... we've had so much work.... etc etc etc. Sorry, but if you plan to charge me 100% of the alterations bill, then I DON'T CARE about your staff issues. The one seamstress they had left was in a HUGE rush, missing details that I had to point out to her. Natasha was a sweetheart at all of the other fittings, until I started having issues at the final fitting. She kept saying "it's fine, it's fine, that's the way the dress is." I spent 5 stressful hours in the city that day, hoping it would be finished in time. There were so many concerns at the final fitting, I had to return 2 MORE times the same day to have them finish the dress, and it STILL was not right on my wedding day. The rippling under the bust from the sloppy additions of steel boning, which they assured me would disappear with steaming (yeah right), will annoy me in my wedding photos, well, forever. All of those photos will need to be retouched. Even with double-stick tape, the cap sleeves they added for me, while beautiful, were annoyingly slipping throughout the reception. These are small things that no one probably noticed but me and my very annoyed sister, but I'm the one they should be trying to please, and I wasn't. A lot of money for an imperfect dress. Bottom line: get the dress here, they're lovely. GO ELSEWHERE FOR ALTERATIONS.

Like some others have mentioned, I also had a very stressful experience with Designer loft.

The sales process was great and the woman I worked with, Ellie was very nice but the positives stop there.

The alteration process was a complete nightmare. I came in for several fittings and each time no changes had been made to the dress since the prior fitting (not even the length)

There were issues with the dress that I had to ask to be corrected over and over again and the final alterations were sloppy.

I had an appointment to pick up my dress the Monday before my wedding and when I showed up the dress was not ready. The thing that annoyed me the most about the situation was not that the dress was not ready but that when the woman pulled the dress out and noticed that it wasn't finished she tried to BS me and tell me that I wasn't supposed to pick it up that day but instead have a final fitting. Like, are you serious?

Then, they promised to have all of the alterations finished the following day and of course when I showed up they did not. Again, they lied and tried to convince me they never said that.

I ended up having to pick up my dress the day we were leaving for our out of town wedding which was not what I wanted to be doing that day.

On top of that they never gave me the veil that I ordered.

I understand that things happen and I wouldn't have been so mad if they did not try to continuously lie to me. It was extremely frustrating.

    Horrible.

Although they have a lovely selection of dresses their sales people are incredibly rude. I would often hear them gossiping about other brides on the sales floor and how much they disliked working with them.
There was also a huge lack of communication between staff and their customers. For instance, on one occasion I show up for a fitting appointment to find that my tailor had called in sick that day. On another occasion, I was asked to finish up my fitting because their next appointment had arrived, yet they didn't take me for my appointment until 20 minutes after my scheduled time!
Last, my dress did not fit properly on the day of my wedding and the layers of fabric were noticeably bunching underneath (which they promised they would fix!). I would NEVER recommend this place.

I am typically not the kind of person who writes a review on a business or service, however, my experience with this bridal boutique in Manhattan was so horrific that I felt I owed it to every other bride out there to let them know what I went through. Planning a wedding should be fun and exciting... and although at times it can be stressful... the last thing any bride wants or needs when planning her big day is added stress and unnecessary drama!!

I went into Designer Loft in November to try on wedding gowns and fell in love with a veil I tried on in the store. It took 3 months of shopping around before I finally called back to place the order. I received my invoice which stated that I had ordered a Lori London Fountain Veil (the veil of my dreams!!) and that it would be ready to be picked up in a few weeks...

The day before I was supposed to pick up my veil I was surprised that I hadn't gotten a phone call from anyone saying that my veil had come in... or that it was ready to be picked up. So I called and asked if it had been delivered and if I could come in the next day to pick it up. The girl on the phone told me that the veil was indeed there and that I could come in as scheduled.

When I got to the store, they brought the veil out in a clear plastic bag and showed it to me briefly before placing it back in the bag so that I could take it home.

When I got home... and after looking at the veil a little more closely, I began to have some doubts about whether or not this was the veil that I had ordered. Although it looked almost exactly the same... I am extremely detail oriented and noticed that there were a few things definitely "off" about this veil. The comb (that would secure the veil to my head) was much longer and heavier than the comb on the veil I tried on in the store, and where the tulle was sewn to the comb was definitely not the work of a professional. The tulle was bunched up where it should have been smooth, ect. The thing that finally made me think that there was a chance I had been ripped off was that there was no "Lori London" tag attached to the brand new veil that I had ordered.

At first I was furious and thought about going right back to the store the following day... but then I thought, why not call Lori London directly and see whether or not Designer Loft even placed an order for the veil??

After an afternoon full of phone calls, I finally got in touch with the owner of Lori London and explained my situation. Sure enough, they didn't have any order on file for the veil I purchased... which meant that Designer Loft had one of their seamstresses in the back of their store copy the design of the veil I wanted and charged me the same $225 I thought I was paying for a designer veil!!

In the end, the owner of Lori London sent me a REAL Lori London veil which I wore on my wedding day... and Designer Loft refunded my money after a lot of unnecessary arguing and stressful phone calls. The store also received a cease and desist order from Lori London's lawyers stating that they are no longer allowed to carry their products in their store. What kind of shady business copies someone else's design and tries to make a profit off of it?? Not to mention takes advantage of girls planning one of the most special and important days of their life?

Please, if you live in NYC or are thinking of purchasing anything from this store... please, don't.
