We had such a wonderful experience working with Rev. Don Anderson. He was incredibly kind, understanding, and supportive throughout the entire process. We completed pre-marital counseling with him, and he offered thoughtful guidance not just for our marriage, but also for shaping the ceremony itself. He helped us clarify what we wanted, recommended a unity ceremony that fit us perfectly, and really collaborated with us to make everything feel both personal and beautifully traditional.
Since we were coming from out of state, we had no idea how to navigate obtaining our marriage license, and Rev. Don walked us through the entire process. His clear instructions and reassurance made something confusing feel completely manageable.
In the days leading up to the wedding, his communication was excellent. He attended our rehearsal dinner, made sure we felt prepared, and even pivoted last minute with a few additions we wanted to include. During the ceremony, there were unexpected loud distractions near the venue, and he navigated them flawlessly so the focus stayed on us and the moment.
The ceremony he delivered was heartfelt, warm, and meaningful—exactly what we hoped for. Our guests absolutely loved him, and so many told us how beautiful the ceremony was and how much they enjoyed his presence.
We are so grateful we chose Rev. Don, and we would highly recommend him to any couple looking for an officiant who is genuine, professional, calming, and truly invested in making your ceremony a perfect reflection of your relationship. He was an incredible blessing while entering this new chapter and helped make our wedding ceremony so special.

Don married my husband and I in August of this year. He was an absolute joy to work with who really cared about what our marriage was founded on more than any other officiant we inquired with for our wedding. He spent months getting to know each of us individually and spend the time to discuss why we wanted to get married and what we wanted our marriage to look like. A Rainy 27th Day of October To Cherish Forever
Rev. Don with Defining Ministries worked with our complex story over several months. My opening line was please don't run away because this is a lot to work through. We are so thankful he stuck with us and genuinely cared to work with us. It felt like divine intervention that part of our story was something he was dealing with as well and we appreciated his guidance on the tough stuff. We were so thankful for his patience as our pre-marital counseling sessions were lengthy and ran way over some evenings. When we think of Rev. Don, we think of being embraced with warmth, Jesus-like love, and acceptance regardless of some difficult truths in our lives.
This outstanding human with a kind soul stood in the rain (it was light when we started) getting drenched during the wedding ceremony because the bride said, "We didn't come from Florida to Tennessee in the Fall to get married inside of a barn. We could have done that in Florida!" Our close friends commented that our officiant seemed to really know us. They had no idea how much time we spent with him, but definitely enough time for him to truly know our hearts and intentions very well. Hearing our wedding party say he knew us well, said and meant a lot to us because he had 5 more pages of words prepared uniquely for us when we decided to "cut the ceremony short." When we checked the video we were 37 minutes in (our vows were long). During the ceremony, he had everyone laughing and those closest to us in tears.
The time spent laughing, in tears, and changing approaches and behaviors at the recommendation of Rev. Don in order to choose each other everyday despite all of the noise and life circumstances was invaluable. He helped us realize that we are good for each other and to one another once we calm the "background noise" that life circumstances bring us at times. We give each other grace and make changes where they are needed because of Reverend Don's sessions and guidance.
We wrote this on Thanksgiving Day 11.27.25, exactly one month after our ceremony. We plan to keep in touch with Rev. Don as he offers life long support to those who put in the work to be in a good place to take a giant leap of faith with his support and blessing.
We will forever be thankful for Reverend Don and highly recommend his extremely professional officiant and premarital counseling services! He worked well with a plethora of our life challenges, one disabled individual (Cerebral Palsy and Guillain Barre Syndrome), and lots of fun personalities at our wedding. Don't hesitate to book if you are even thinking about it. Especially during peak season wedding months :)

Loved working with Don
We had a small elopement ceremony, and Don made it feel so special and meaningful. Prior to the event, we communicated with Don regularly, and he got to know us and took a genuine interest in tailoring our ceremony to what we wanted. For such a small ceremony, we wanted to keep it simple and brief, but Don made it so much better than we imagined- it was heartfelt, personalized and sweet, but it also made us laugh. All of our guests loved it and thought Don was great. We were so happy with the experience.

Elopement - Highlands, NC
Reverand Don Anderson officiated both our elopement ceremony and Baby Dedication for our 6 month old baby boy in the Highlands, NC in December of 2024. Don took the time prior to our ceremony to understand our story, our goals and dreams of a wedding ceremony. Based on this information, he created a very well laid out, thoughtful and intimate service which made our experience one of a kind. He truly loves what he does and cares about the people he works with. It was a special treat for him to perform the Baby Dedication for our baby George. Our original elopment was rescheduled from June to December due to the early arrival of George. Don was flexible and more than willing to make the trip in December to complete our wedding. He is professional, caring, organized and extremely giving and thoughtful. It will be a day we will always remember.

We really enjoyed working with Don. He was very intentional about setting us up for success in our marriage with premarital counseling. Don Anderson was simply amazing. He had patience and kindness in every conversation. He was thoughtful with everything he said and calming, amidst the other chaos of wedding planning. He presents himself professionally, and clearly knows what he is doing as an officiant. We were married in the Smokey mountains, in an area we were not familiar with, because we are from out of town. He was very familiar with the area and was able to walk us through how the area is laid out, what to have in mind when being married in that area, and the possible challenges of the location. Also, his process of pre marital sessions allowed us to really think through and discuss many different marriage topics in a productive manner.

To quote a guest - a very Mr. Rogers experience
Rev. Don was an absolute delight to work with. He took the time to get to know us as a couple, had multiple conversations with us together and individually, and really worked hard to understand our relationship, our goals and plans, and how we saw ourselves as a family. He had great advice to offer, was very flexible and communicative about plans and schedules, and was willing to walk us through the process of getting married.
As for the ceremony, it was everything that we could have asked for. Rev. Don is a very good speaker, with a very warm and practiced voice. He used information from our conversations to make it unique to us and very endearing. And he was very patient walking us through how the ceremony would work and proceed and made everything feel natural and intuitive. We received nothing but compliments about our guests and we obviously have nothing but praise ourselves.
Weddings aren't really a thing where I can say 'I would definitely work with him again!' but we really can not recommend Rev. Don enough.

We could not have asked for a better person to work with for our wedding. Rev. Don Anderson was a wonderful officiant! He led us through multiple sessions of pre-marital counseling and really took the time to learn about us, our relationship, and our marriage expectations. Don was always prompt with email and phone call responses which was especially fantastic for us planning a destination wedding. He arrived early for both the rehearsal and ceremony. Don was so great to work with. From the premarital questionnaires to the ceremony everything was flawless and felt so personal. We had such a fun experience as we went through his pre-marital guidance and counseling. His words were profound and so special as he took the time to really get to know us before he took his part as officiant in our wedding. We had so many compliments after our ceremony on 9/19/2020 and we are so glad to say after two years we still continue to be in contact. Don was the officiant in our wedding in Tennessee and we are from Michigan. He helped the ease the worry of being so far away before our wedding day. He has us covered and we are so grateful of that!

Made our wedding great!
Don married us at the end of July this year. Being from Minnesota and getting married in North Carolina, we looked into a few different officiants to try and find someone that would help give us a great personalized experience -- and Don gave us just that! We spoke with him a few times prior to the wedding and went through some different questions to not only help Don get to know us better, but it helped us strengthen our relationship more before taking the step to marriage. Don helped relieve any of the wedding day nerves we had and made our ceremony exactly how we wanted! He incorporated little bits of us and our relationship into our ceremony and we could not have imagined our day without him! A perfect fit for our second wedding
We were very happy with Reverend Don. He is a very kind man and it's obvious he cares about the success of his couples. Although we are an older couple marrying for a second time, Don's pre-marital "homework" was still very valuable as it provided thought provoking questions to discuss. Even though we've been together for over over 16 years, we still learned something from the assignment. He also respected our privacy when we chose to keep some of the answer to ourselves.
Don was always very professional, and his energy during the ceremony was very soothing. He was loud enough for the guests to hear yet not overbearing at all. I would definitely recommend him!

A great experience!
Reverend Don was absolutely wonderful to work with from day 1. You can tell he is passionate about what he does and getting to know the couples he works with. He took time to get to know my husband and I and our families before the ceremony and created a beautiful ceremony that was exactly what we wanted. It was personalized and he included all of our requests. We never actually met him in person until the day before the wedding (we are from out of state) but when we did meet him, he was so caring and easy to talk to. It felt like we knew him for years. So many guests complimented the ceremony and how great it was. Also, he responded extremely quickly to all my questions. I highly, highly, highly recommend Reverend Don Anderson for your wedding!

A Ceremony to Remember
Reverend Don was absolutely amazing! Throughout the premarital counseling, he had us ask questions about each other and our ideas for the future that we had never asked each other before. We learned things about one another that might have taken years if he wasn't there guiding us to them. He was very accommodating to our busy schedules, as we lived in separate cities at the time and could not be together much for his meetings. We even had a group call between the three of us for one of the sessions. As for the ceremony, it was incredible. Reverend Don took all the information from our counseling sessions and personalized it to be everything we had hoped for. He included details of our lives such as when we first met and the things that brought us together. He worked in some comic relief to calm our nerves as well. Overall, Reverend Don is very polite and will do everything he can to give you the wedding ceremony you have always wanted!

Personalized ceremony by a wonderful officant.
When we first started looking for officiants for our wedding we were nervous we wouldn’t find someone. The first time we spoke with Rev. Don, my now husband and I hung up the phone and said, “he’s the one”. He was kind, caring, genuine, and made us feel like we were a priority for him. He continued to make contact with us via email and phone and offered premarital counseling in the form of Q&A w/ discussions afterward. Hands down the best!
Let me first start with I searched for a wedding officiant on a myriad of wedding apps and websites, looking for the best fit for our wedding while also taking into consideration we got married out of state during the pandemic. We also looked at how the different officiants attitudes showed in videos and pictures. We ran across Don and he met all of the requirements, each picture and video he was in you could see and feel the joy he brought to the ceremony.
My husband has a lot of anxiety and the reviews that we read stated that he was so calming and amazing at making our wedding magical and maintaining a great positive vibe even when we were nervous.
We got to know Don several months before our wedding, he recommended premarital therapy. We took his advice and I must say it was amazing, we had several break throughs, not to mention he learned about us and our relationship and intuitively picked up things we hadn’t even fully explained. Every phone call with Don was hours, we had no idea until we hung up. Don wrote our “love story”. He took every detail and everything we talked about and added it into a beautiful love story about “us”. The day I read out loud the ceremony vows to my future husband, we couldn’t get past the first few sentences without balling. It was perfect, so perfect. He articulated what we wanted to express. He added the little details of combining children, family and friends in a special venue to make our day the most memorable and perfect possible.
I must say, he is phenomenal and he has tons and tons of experience. He has great knowledge of amazing writers and life lessons.
Don has not only become a great friend but a life long mentor. He not only did our wedding day, he will continue to speak on behalf of our family at life changing events. Everyone at our wedding had so much to say about how beautifully composed our ceremony was and how special our day was.
Look no further, this is the person you want at your ceremony.

Don was very professional from start to finish. He was very helpful in guiding us in the right directions as far as applying for a marriage license and any questions we had regarding the legal side of things. One of the biggest things on our destination wedding checklist was finding an officiant. After some searching, we found Don Anderson and I am so happy that we did. Don took the time to get to know Ethan and I over the phone, asking us about our story and our upcoming future. I found Don online. At first I was a little skeptical of using someone that I found on the internet. I was concerned that the service would be generic and not very personal. Don Anderson Is the sweetest
My fiancé and I last minute decided to get married and Pastor Don called us and was so kind and wonderful he worked with us and went above and beyond to make our big day absolutely perfect , the words he spoke moved us and made our ceremony truly beautiful , we really connected with him and he’s such a genuine gentle soul it was truly a pleasure to have him marry us . He also took lots of pictures for us and spoke encouraging words afterwords , if you’re getting married this is the man to do the job . Thank you so much for everything Mr. Anderson !!

The Best Day Ever: 10/12/19
Rev. Don was incredible to work with! We decided to elope to The Smoky Mountains with our immediate family and being an out-of-town bride, so much of my planning relied on reviews from other couples. Rev. Don lives up to his excellent reviews! He worked with us to make our ceremony personalized and included my new stepdaughter (age 9) so well. I felt as though he genuinely wanted to get to know us, provided great advice for our newly-wedded life together, and truly loves marrying couples. Thank you!

Went off with right kind of hitch
We were looking for a minister that was willing to include texts from multiple Holy texts outside of Christianity about love and family within the context of our Christian upbringings. Don was the only minister willing to do this that I spoke to. He not only embraced this challenge, but he created a completely custom ceremony and vows that reflected us as individuals and as a couple. If you want a tailor made ceremony I highly recommend Don. There were a few ministers willing to marry us in that type of ceremony but they put the research and writing of it back on me. I’m not a minister and was stressed enough about planning a wedding. Don gave us a ceremony that added so much to the special day and really captured our relationship and vision.

Perfect, He was just perfect.
Don was so nice and helpful. We had a friend do our ceremony but found out just before that Tennessee didn’t allow it it legally. He offered to meet us privately, but I hoped he would (and he did) come for our party. Perfect.

A Ceremony Designed for Us
Going into the process of finding someone to officiate our wedding we knew that we wanted the ceremony to be be special. We wanted it to sound like us.
Don went above and beyond all expectation.
He spent so much time getting to know us individually and as a couple and that really showed.
There was laughter, tears, and a whole lot of love.
He put all of our fears to rest and made our special day so magical.

Absolutely phenomenal!
Our experience with Don was more than we could have dreamed of. He has an incredible way of making you feel like the only people that he has to marry, although I know he is busy with many couples! His counseling was so beneficial and since we lived far away, we would end up spending 1+ hour talking with him on the phone. He never made us feel judged or criticized. We felt warm in his company and he really helped us grow from our past experiences so we could focus on the future.
The day of our wedding was amazing. He was timely, despite traffic, and calm throughout. The ceremony was so incredibly special and our guests couldn't stop talking about how lovely it was and how much it focused on our love and marriage. He incorporated so many things we had spoken about in our counseling in the best way possible. The words were so encouraging and meaningful.
Since the wedding day, Don continues to make us feel valued and it feels as though he is our biggest fan.

Don was great to work with for our wedding. We chose to do our pre-marital counseling with him and he was very flexible and easy to work with. He also incorporated special things from our pre-marital counseling into our wedding ceremony so it was very personalized. He was a great choice for our wedding minister and definitely put me at ease and made our wedding very special! I would highly recommend him!

The Perfect Ceremony
Don was a dream to work with! Communicative and took time to get to know both of us to incorporate some fun facts about us during the ceremony. He was also super flexible when we had some unexpected hiccups before the ceremony started. Our guests raved about the beautiful words he spoke at our wedding for weeks to come (and are still raving!). A few months before my ceremony my younger sister unexpectedly passed away and he included some heartfelt and truly touching words to honor her spirit and our guests were moved to tears. Thank you so much Don! Truly the perfect ceremony!

Don did an amazing job officiating our wedding! We had several guests come up to us separately saying what a beautiful ceremony we had. Don did a great job getting to know my husband and me prior to the ceremony and incorporating personalized touches into the ceremony. He included small things we shared with him that only people who knew us would know. He also was very sincere and easy to contact for anything we needed. My husband and I are Christian and Don did a wonderful job incorporating Christianity into our ceremony. Reverend Anderson was amazing at our wedding. It could not have gone better. He helped us make the day and even before the day of go smoothly. My husband and I got married out of state, and Reverend Anderson was incredibly knowledgeable about what we needed to do, and the best place to get our license!
He also worked with us to make the ceremony more personal, adding in details about us as a couple. That was a really nice touch. He asked us how we wanted things to be phrased, what words to use. Reverend Anderson really did everything he could to make our wedding day memorable, smooth, and an all together special day. I highly recommend using him for your wedding ceremony!

Don was the first minister we contacted to discuss officiating our wedding ceremony. By the end of our phone chat, we knew he was our minister. We shared our thoughts and ideas with him, told him about ourselves and he in return. We were confident that Don would deliver and he did. My husband and I got married in Andrews NC 5/20/17 and we live in Atlanta. We found Don via Google and had several phone conversations before confirming him. Finding the perfect Wedding Officiant was very important to us, and when it was all said and done, we were so happy we chose Don Anderson. The pre-marital counseling was a great experience, and the wedding ceremony was personalized just for us. Don Anderson was wonderful! We found him here on wedding wire and came to see that his five star reviews don't quite do him justice! He met with us one week before our wedding and in that meeting he really put a lot of our wedding woes and worries at ease. He was personable, genuine, kind and accommodating and gave us a sense of peace and confidence about our big day! The ceremony was perfect! It was personal and unique. He even included a quote from Dr. Seuss without knowing he is one of my favorite authors! I found Don on wedding wire. The first time I spoke to him, I knew he was who I wanted as a minister for our wedding. Don is simply outstanding. I found him here on wedding wire back in August. He called right away to talk to me and get to know me and my groom. We talked about an hour for the first time! :) He sent us a series of emails and ended up tailoring our vows directly to those. It was his way of getting to know us and personalizing our vows. Who knew I'd get married with George Lucas quotes? It was absolutely one of the best days of my life and Don helped tremendously, thinking of little things (like who would have the rings, what did he want to introduce us as the first time, etc. His beautiful wife Ashby was also able to attend our ceremony and was so gracious. I appreciate both of them so much! Don even took care of dropping off our marriage license the following week. It was here by the time we got back from our honeymoon.

I am having trouble finding the words to explain what an asset Reverend Anderson was to our wedding day. Not only was he an excellent officiant, but he's an amazing person.
I was very nervous about finding an officiant. First, I wanted someone who was well spoken and genuine; second, I wanted someone who would understand and respect our religious beliefs. I initially used to Wedding Wire to find officiants of interest, but I used a facebook wedding group to express that I needed to find someone who was open to differing religious views. I was instantly messaged by Reverend Anderson and he asked that we speak on the phone. He asked about what I was looking for in an officiant and what concerns I may have... he was so warm hearted and personable that I felt like I was speaking to a close friend, or a therapist! He is an excellent listener, haha. (he actually offers counseling for couples to help develop a foundation for their marriage as well!)
Once I spoke with him I knew that he was for us. He is very professional and has alot of experience. Most (not all) couples are planning their wedding for the first time and feel lost. Rev Anderson is able to provide structure and personalize our ceremony to our liking. He was excellent with maintaining communication well before our wedding day to make sure everything is taken care of. Despite my moments of poor communication, he remained very understanding and patient.
Reverend Anderson's performance was excellent. He is very articulate and poised with his speech. His organization of our ceremony was perfect... he was able to keep our guests engaged and in the moment. I still constantly receive compliments from my loved ones.
After finishing the hustle and bustle of our big day, I look back on many regrets: things that I spent too much time on, too much money on, or things that I forgot... but having Rev Anderson as our officiant was definitely the most valuable asset to our special day.

Rev Don Anderson married my husband and I at our cabin in Gatlinburg Tennessee on August 25th 2015. We believe that God led us to Defining Moments Ministries. Since we are from South West Michigan, we were a little nervous about finding someone that we didn't know to perform our ceremony. The first conversation I had over the phone with Don I knew right away, and after I hung up I remember feeling so happy and connected to him. He is truly kind and genuinely enjoys getting to know you. He is interested in your story and will make you feel like you have known him for years. Don spent so much time putting together our perfect ceremony and allowed us to make it our own. He went above and beyond for us and we are so blessed to have found him. He called when we arrived and was giving us ideas on where to hold the ceremony, which was awesome because we didn't even know where to begin! We ended up finding the perfect place! We attended a wedding that Don offiated about 2 years before Don married us. It was the most beautiful ceremony I had ever seen and I had been to many weddings. We said then that if we ever got married we wanted Don to marry us....and about 2 years later he did. He made our ceremony absolutely perfect. After the ceremony, more than a couple of guests said Don's ceremony for us was the most beautiful they have ever attended. A family member said she wanted him to marry her whenever she got married. Don made it everything we had hoped for and more. He personalized it so much as if he had known us for years (which he did not-we met with him for pre-marital counseling is all. I would recommend this with him-it was wonderful and helpful). Don told our love story throughout the wedding ceremony making it both personalized and sentimental, as well as touching and unforgettable both to us and our guests. Even though we didn't meet until the day of the wedding, I felt that we knew him, and that he knew us well. He used quotes from our conversations with him to write the ceremony. Update: It is 7 months later, and I am still so grateful to Don for everything. I recently got back in touch with Don to get a copy of our ceremony. He responded that day with an email and a phone call. He is so sincere, it's amazing. My family still talks about how perfect the ceremony was. Heck, when we renew our vows, I hope to use Don again.

We actually didn't meet Don until our wedding day. We planned the wedding while living in WA state. From the start Don was a pleasure to talk to and excited about a few off the wall requests I had. I had a few things I requested to incorporate into the ceremony. Although it was his first time with additions like this while officiating he worked them in with ease.
Prior to your wedding Don will send you a questionnaire, both partners will have to complete the same questions with there own answers. This helped Don get to know us and gave a great personal touch to the ceremony. Afterwards, I had friends and family coming up to me and talking about how wonderful the ceremony was and referred to Don's words.
Don is a wonderful man and I'm happy he joined us in sharing our day. Not only will I recommend him but he comes highly recommended by my venue.

Rev. Don Anderson did a wonderful job for us at our wedding. We really needed someone who could understand my husband and I in order to provide what we were looking for during our ceremony. He was extremely flexible, walked us through the in's and out's of the day while keeping things brief as we requested given the small amount of time allotted.
