Perfect Invitations

Kasey is amazing! She is very creative and does not make the same invitation. Kasey was flexible with me giving her ideas or color schemes I had and she worked her magic. Kasey sent a proof of the save the date magnet and invitation that gave us easy access to edit or make changes. The invitations meshed well with our rustic barn venue and the colors. Highly recommend!!

ROCKSTAR Coordinator and Paper Good!

Kasey is a ROCKSTAR!! She handled all of our paper goods and wedding coordination. The paper goods were completely customized and done beautifully!! I received so many compliments on them, and they definitely set the tone for our wedding day! She was also the BEST wedding coordinator I could have asked for! She met with us several times to understand and discuss the details of our wedding to ensure she was in the loop and understood our vision. And, she ensured our vision was realized the day of! She was on top of ALL of it!! She helped the day go smoothly from start to finish. AND, we could not have predicted that our hotel would be overbooked to the point where some of our guests (and bridal party!) didn't have a hotel room... and while this was a bummer, she took the stress away by taking complete control of the situation and coordinating getting everyone affected a room at a hotel down the street. In addition, she was attentive to my husband and I, as well as our bridal party, during the reception to ensure we were taken care of with drinks and food! I could go on and on about all of the things Kasey did for us before and on our wedding day. I truly can't say enough good things about her. And, if you are questioning whether you should have a coordinator or not, trust me, you should! This is the one day you spend so much time and money on, that you want it to be perfect. So you definitely want Kasey! If nothing else, at least visit her to see samples of her paper goods - they are one of a kind, like her! I totally recommend Kasey and DBY!!

Professional, classy, unique, superior customer service, and incredibly accommodating. We found DBY at a Bridal Expo. From day one meeting, we knew we were in good hands. Kasey walked us through every step, listened to our needs and wants, and gave great suggestions. Together, we made a great plan. Our invitations were gorgeous and unique. They also helped us with a multitude of unique wedding goodies. Presentation and Professionalism A++! DBY set the tone from the beginning to end as nothing but perfect. Our wedding was at the Chicago Cultural Center in Feb 2018, and it was absolutely amazing thanks to Kasey and her team! With 15+ years of experience in this industry, she knows everyone and everything in the entire greater Chicagoland area. Not only is she quite literally a wealth of knowledge, but her negotiating power is much stronger than yours can ever be as a new bride. She leverages her knowledge and relationships wholeheartedly for you. She is hardworking and loves what she does, which really shows in how much effort she puts into everything she touches. Her fee paid itself (and then some) in what she saved us from other vendors.

No doubt Kasey is worth it alone from the financial aspect and an asset during the planning process, but come the day-of, her talents truly shine! All the months of planning hinge on ONE day, so there is a lot of pressure to execute and here she just thrives! I was able to enjoy literally every minute of our wedding day - my mom and I didn't have to do anything! Kasey ran the entire behind-the-scenes show. She also made sure that our vision that we had worked on for months was executed exactly as planned by the other vendors involved. She really made our vision come to life in a way that I will forever be grateful for. A wedding day is a big investment and I cannot imagine who else I could possibly trust to do this (again, I am a type A person so it was difficult to hand over the reigns). I am eternally grateful for all of your hard work on our behalf Kasey, I cannot thank you enough!

I cannot say enough good things about Kasey and DBY Invitations. From the day I met her at the Bridal Expo, I knew I had a good feeling about Kasey. She is warm and outgoing, and is well versed in all things wedding related. I originally met with Kasey for my wedding invitation stationery, but quickly realized what an asset she would be to my “wedding team.” Kasey not only handled all of our stationery needs, but my mother and I decided that we wanted to hire Kasey as my day-of wedding coordinator. Well let me tell you - that was the BEST decision we made when it came to wedding planning. We received so much more than just day-of coordinating! Kasey alleviated SO much stress for us throughout the planning process and on the day of the wedding, we were as calm as could be!! I am a person that likes to be in control, and wedding planning was no different. I had a specific vision for my wedding, but was easy going when it came to the small details. Kasey understood my vision and ran with it. She not only aided with my ideas, she had fantastic ideas of her own! Every single detail was thoughtfully planned, and it showed on my wedding day. I do not “hand over the reigns” very easily when it comes to planning, but with Kasey, it was different. I knew I was in good hands and that Kasey’s assertive personality would be fighting for the best for us every step of the way.
I could go on for hours about Kasey and her team, but instead I will let you check them out for yourself. I promise you it will be the best decision you can make for yourself when it comes to wedding planning. I not only was able to have a stress-free wedding, but I left with a friend in Kasey. I will be returning to Kasey and DBY Invitations for any and all stationery needs in the future - I cannot wait to enlist her help in my future party planning! Kasey made our wedding day AMAZING! The invitations really set the event off. The invitations were so beautiful and classy! We had several people frame our invites for gifts and made other unique gifts with them including our unity candle. She also made menus,welcome letters, programs, stickers and some really awesome murals for our Chicago themed wedding. She really did amazing things to make our day beautiful. I chose Kasey Larson and DBY Invitations to design and print our invitations, and I am so happy that I did! I found Kasey and DBY at a local Bridal Show not long after we got engaged, and I fell in love with her designs right away. We hired Kasey and DBY to do our Save the Dates, our Invitations, our programs, our escort cards and two items for our welcome bags (we had a destination wedding). I wanted to have a cohesive and elegant look and feel for the printed matter for our wedding, but I didn’t want anything cookie cutter or just like everyone else’s. Kasey WOWED me. She took my color scheme and helped me choose papers, and she guided me to a design style that fit my budget and then she went to work, customizing the individual pieces and making them unique, special and beautiful. Kasey asked the right questions, and got right to the heart of what I wanted and gave it to me, perfectly! Every single piece she designed was beautiful and special to our destination and to us. The whole suite of completed items look beautiful together, and definitely achieved my goal of a cohesive and classy overall look of the wedding. The invitations are the centerpiece of the collection, and they are truly a work of art. Kasey was able to take some stained glass images from pictures I’d taken at our venue and used them in the invitations in an unexpected and beautiful way. They turned out so personal and so gorgeous; I have gotten so many compliments on them! Kasey was very easy to work with, and when I wanted changes, she immediately understood what I wanted and made the changes very quickly so my timeline would stay on track. DBY Invitations does extremely high quality, hand crafted work. They really work to understand your vision and to make sure you achieve it. For the quality, custom designed finished work we received; I felt that the value provided by DBY Invitations and Kasey Larson was OUTSTANDING.

Wow I just read all the bad reviews and I must say my experience was different. I did have a couple of last minute problems however Kasey solve the problem right away and the result was beautiful. Kasey replied to every e-mail very fast even when she was out of town. The quality of the invitations and designs are wonderful, you can definitely tell the difference between working with her and just printed with an online company. She did everything for the shower and the wedding and I can tell you I'm a happy customer and I will recommend them. I think a good vendors is not the one that do everything the way you want but the one that helps you create something even more beautiful.

I have to admit that this review has been a long time coming...

I first met Kasey three years ago, the week before one of my gal pal's weddings-- I found out the week before Megz's wedding that she planned to do Kinko's copied programs. I couldn't bear to have this happen! I contacted Kasey and (the week BEFORE my friend's wedding!) we designed the inserts for Megz's programs. Kasey rush special-ordered ivory shimmer paper to match Megz's gown and coordinated the ink to match her bridesmaids' dresses. We did a monogram at the top (and positioned it to display in the pocket notch for the pockets I was putting together). Megz was thrilled with her programs!

Because of the service I was given by Kasey and her mom, I knew exactly who I wanted to use for my papergoods when it came time for MY wedding!

I had a quirky idea for save-the-dates, and Kasey executed it flawlessly. Since I'm picky, it took a couple of drafts, which Kasey was happy to do until she knew I felt completely satisfied. In the end, I wound up with s-t-d’s that required the use of a red-lens decoder (think old-school cereal box decoders!) to decipher the hidden message-- which was that our wedding was on the horizon! Exactly what I wanted!!

THEN it was time for invites... Kasey designed complex insert cards with a repeating motif that continued when each of three insert cards overlaid one another. Her patience as I picked out colors was awesome-- and her expertise on how much is too much was invaluable. I was excited to receive tons of tiny lime green envelopes in the mail as guests replied to our invitations. My wedding is now 1.5 years in the past, and to this day, I still receive compliments.

The quality of DBY's work and Kasey's expertise and suggestions are outstanding. She is my go-to paper-guru. I cannot recommend her work enough if you are anywhere near as pick a bride as I was!

First of all Kasey was so awesome to work with. She took our ideas for our wedding invitations and made them reality. Our invitations were absolutley beautiful. We got so many compliments on our invations. She also helped us with favor boxes that look like chivari chairs and doubled as placecard holders. They were done in the same paper as our wedding invites so everything color coordinates. Plus you can't beat the price. I paid the same amount for custom designed invitations where I got to choose every detail that other brides paid for cheap looking cardboard invites out of a book. I highly recommend them!.

There is one word that comes to mind - EXCEPTIONAL!!! I was overwhelmed by looking at so many types of invitation and colors that I didn't even know where to begin.

Kasey's patience and vision brought together a beautiful piece of work. We received many compliments on our invitatioins from the color to - "I've never seen anything like this" both from family and friends, as well as recent brides. I highly recommend Kasey for all invites. We'll be coming back for other invitation events.

We loved the work Kasey did for our daughter's wedding. She coordinated the invitations with the menus, place cards and table numbers so that all was seamless. Her design complimented the theme of the wedding venue. Her advice was instrumental in pulling everything together.

They are very accommodating and very helpful, especially when you have no idea what you want to do with your invitations. They base your invitations off you needs as well as your pinterest boards you've been drooling over and they make it happen. They have so many different options available as well like favors, guest registries and much more available. They are very personable and they do everything in person. They're just great quality. They did our invitations, place cards and addresses and it's definitely worth the price.

Everything that we ordered from DBY was perfect. We got the invitations, menus, table cards and wedding programs all to match and they were stunning. Kasey had great ideas but was never forceful with them. She let you use your imagination and fun with the entire process. The outcome was so worth it. We received so many compliments on our invitations as they were unique and it was obvious that they were custom made and not just "store bought". Would go there again in a heart beat. Everything was more than I could have imagined. I especially loved the outside mailing envelopes as they said "please deliver to" Kasey laughed because when I saw that it actually made me cry. I guess because it was something I had never seen on any invitation I have ever received. How special!!! Go there you will not be sorry

If you want completely custom and unique invitations, Kasey can do it for you! Just give her some inspiration and the options are seemingly endless!

We had so many compliments on our invitations because they were unique, and truly a reflection of our style and interest. Our invitations, place cards, table numbers, menus and programs all tied our theme together, and we were quite pleased with the results. If you are wanting to do something very unique, please make sure you can invest the time and energy into helping Kasey create the design that you want. The more information you can give her to help her create your design - the better!

The cost of everything was more than we had budgeted for, but we got a wonderful design that was exactly what we wanted - something we could not get from catalog ordering (although you can do that with Kasey too!) She is a wonderful creative and you are paying for the expertise she can provide. If you want something unique and different to set your wedding and reception apart from all of the rest - this is the place to go!

We came here for our wedding invitations, ceremony programs, reception menu cards, and reception placecards. We worked with Kasey who was very easy to work with and created some beautiful work for us. Everyone remarked how beautiful, unique, and dramatic our wedding invitations were (ours were printed on a beautiful cream colored paper and had a small crystal). We did our research and ended up spending the same amount of money than if we had ordered through a wedding invitation book or online. At designed by you, you truly get to design your own invitations from the design to the paper type to the colors etc. I reccommend thinking about what unique look you would want for your wedding invitations and then checking this place out. My only caveat is that Kasey seemed kinda rushed at times when we met with her and I did have to carefully review all the drafts of things she sent me for errors. Nevertheless, these issues were minor and I do not hesitate in reccommending this place. They do quality work here and really work hard to create the customized look you envision.

We met with 2 other wedding planners before deciding to work with Kasey and the team at DBY events & invitations. We chose to work with Kasey as she was very knowledgeable about venues and vendors, latest trends, and had worked with clients with varying styles and budgets. She asked questions and thought of details that had not even crossed my mind. Most importantly I felt completely confident that Kasey would handle everything on my wedding day and if anything came up, she and her team would do what needed to be done. Thanks to them our wedding day was stress free, I got to just focus on being a bride and in the moment. We had a perfect day! Kasey and DBY did all of our paper goods for our wedding this month. We couldn't have been happier with the way our invitations, programs, menus, and escort cards turned out. All of them were absolutely spectacular!
Kasey is a busy lady, and she does have a big personality. However, she is EXTREMELY nice, well-meaning, and engaged with her clients. I felt she spent far more time getting to know us and and the wedding we were planning than most of our other vendors. The company has gone through several staffing changes since we booked them, and although this did lead to some minor miscommunications, I felt that Kasey handled them extremely professionally. I never waited more than 12 hours for a return phone call from her, and I never felt like I had to remind her who I was. Kasey does have her own ideas, but that's part of what you're paying for. She is happy to change anything about her designs to meet her clients' needs.
I can't tell you how many compliments we received on the design and craftsmanship. The colors were perfect, and Kasey was happy to help incorporate the logo a friend of ours designed for us as a wedding gift. I felt like she really had a great understanding of what we were looking for, and she did her best to make our half-formed ideas come to life. When I was disappointed with how a sample invitation looked after it went through the mail, Kasey came up with a cost-effective solution that solved the problem, and I think actually added to the overall look and feel of the invitations.
When I went to pick everything up the Wednesday before our wedding, I discovered that we had told her two different colors for one of the escort card categories. Kasey had actually printed this category of cards TWICE, at her expense, once on the color we had picked out previously, and once on the color I had given her. I was astounded that a vendor would go to such lengths to keep her bride happy!
We couldn't have been happier with our experience.

Kasey did a beautiful job with our invitations! I was adamant that I wanted a plum colored pocket invitation and envelope to coincide with my wedding colors. Several other vendors told me that it just wasn't available. I found DBY online and went to the store to be pleasantly surprised that they could get it for me. I had worked on ideas with another vendor prior to visiting Kasey that just couldn't hit the mark for me. The plum could have helped, but Kasey nailed the design first try out of the gate. It was beauiful! We received many facebook comments, texts, emails and phone calls on how stunning our invites were. Yes, they were pricey but we picked one of the most expensive papers for the invite border - a silver sparkle glitter and we added rhinestones to our invite too. They also did our menu cards and ceremony booklets which I was slow at getting the information in. My only negative experience with this vendor was some attitude received throughout the process. Kasey is a very confident and strong woman and sometimes it just comes across as plain rudeness. Other sites said similar when I first found out about DBY before going there. So, if you can get past not being treated like the customer at times, the work itself is beautiful. The store has plenty of samples and fonts to review which along with Kasey takes away the guess work of what to pick! Extremely helpful in itself. Walk in appointments are tough since she is busy, so be sure to make an appointment!

I can tell Kasey is a perfectionist and an anxious one at that. For someone running a business, she speaks down to her clients making them feel dumb. She also has difficulty listening to the client and a tendency to overlook changes.
On the day of my invitation proofing, I looked down at what I thought was good to go and I thought, “oh this is nice, but it’s not what I ordered.” She then proceeded to list off the order sheet and said is a haste manner that this is what I ordered. It’s difficult for me to form words in a hurry, especially when someone is talking over me. She didn’t once let me speak until I said, “wait, can you just let me talk?....first off, this order form means nothing to me, because I don’t understand it, only you do. Second of all, yes, this was the one we agreed to in the beginning, but do you remember that I saw something and liked it and we changed the entire layout?” She looked at me in disbelief, and I looked through my notes to find a copy of the new layout design we worked on and she rummaged through her notes and found it at last. I will say that her perfectionism is what keeps the business alive. Once she acknowledges her error, she quickly fixes her mistake. I mean, she does a good job when it’s done correctly. But is the process worth it?
We let it slide because the process was happening already and we were too lazy/busy to DIY 200 invitations, so we went the extra mile and paid more to get the job done. The invitations were pretty and she did a beautiful job on them and created what I envisioned it to be, but I wouldn't go to her again. If you want to get it done and out of the way and don't have anything too complicated, I'd say by all means proceed with caution.

We paid a lot of money for all of our stationary. I happen to be a tax accountant and I knew that we would be finalizing everything during tax season, so I was willing to go over budget for the 'piece of mind'.

Kasey sold herself very well in the first meeting. She helped our vision of the invitations and the save the dates come true. I was really excited to find this 'one stop shop'. The end product that we received was nice, but the road to get there was very stressful.

I sent out my invites in two waves, first wave was sent early for international guests and second wave were sent in a regular time-frame. She had told me in December we might get invites in January. First week in February I emailed her and she didn't respond for three weeks. When she responded it was almost like she had forgotten I was sending the first wave of invites because she said 'we are way ahead of schedule'. When we went to proof our invites (on a Saturday in March, which was exactly what I was hoping to avoid by getting them earlier) I didn't like them at all. We made a lot of changes and the end product turned out perfect, but I felt like she threw something together without using much thought. At this point I was starting to get stressed. The morning before we picked up our invites she informs me that the ribbon we picked did not match the invitations. I was given three options, and felt like it was almost my fault the ribbon was off. I pushed to pick them up on time and really wouldn't accept anymore delays. We got them on time. However, we were using postcard RSVP's and over half of them had no return address printed. The only other thing worth mentioning is that we did not receive the proof's for the program, menu and table numbers until I demanded them a week before the wedding. Dealing with Kasey caused me so much stress that my fiancee went to her shop alone for pickups. I was too upset.

Kasey added a lot of unnecessary stress to the wedding planning process. We assumed that Done By You Invitations meant that we worked together with Kasey to come up with the final product. When we met with her to see the rough draft, we assumed that was the time to make some modifications in font choices and design. Wow were we wrong. Instead she snapped at us and scolded us during the rest of the appointment over any changes we wanted made. Even so simple as changing orange dots to pink since orange was not one of our colors.

The final products were so-so. For all of the stress working with her brought, it was definitely not worth it. I wish we would have either spent a little more money to go somewhere else with someone not so rude to her clients, or just made them ourselves and printed them at FedEx.

The only redeeming quality about this company is that the invitations themselves were beautiful. I didn't have any trouble designing or ordering the invitations when first meeting with Kasey, but problems started to arise when the invites were finished. There was delay in when they were supposed to be done, which she blamed on an employee ordering the wrong size envelopes. No problem, she added on a free return address printed on the envelope flaps. However, when the invitations finally were completed, she kept putting me off about when I could come pick them up. "Oh, I'll get back to you in 10 days." Two weeks would go by, then, "Oh, yes we'll schedule a pick up time soon." I wanted them early so that I would have plenty of time to address them, but she put me on the back burner because she thought I had "plenty of time" to get them out. But that wasn't the worst of it. I also ordered thank you notes, which were not ready when the invitations were. This was fine, as she wasn't sure if I wanted to put a sentiment inside. I never heard another word from her as my wedding day came and then passed. A couple of weeks after the wedding, I emailed her to find out the status of the thank you notes. Kasey said she had expected me to reach out to her in August (the month of my wedding) to finalize the order info. As I was a little busy getting married in August, I didn't, but she didn't take the initiative to reach out to me! We finally got the order straightened out and she told me they would be ready in 10 days. A couple of weeks went by, and I was concerned because I again hadn't heard a peep from her. I had my husband contact her only to find out she just expected us to show up 10 days later to pick them up! Without informing us that they were actually done! I've completely washed my hands of her at this point, and we can't get our money back. I finally went to Target and bought some beautiful thank you notes for $30 just so that I could be sure of getting them out in a

Kasey was the most condescending rude woman I have ever met.
We hired her company to print our invitations, personalized menus, wine bottle favors (that also served as place cards) and ceremony programs. We had 150 guests at the wedding. Our total cost for these services was about $4,000.
INVITES: When we went to her shop to proof the invites she had my (now) husband last name spelled wrong. She brought out a new proof and the name was STILL spelled wrong. My mother advised her it was still incorrect and Kasey snapped "OK NAN! GOD!". Printed a new proof with the proper spelling. A week later we went to pick up the 100+ invites and sure enough, my husbands name was spelled wrong and all the other changes we requested were not done. Again, she snapped on us trying to say we approved the wrong proof. Luckily my mother and I are organized and put the signed copy in front of her face. Then she blamed her workers and said it would be corrected and ready for pick up the following Friday. The final (correct product) was very nice.
PERSONALIZED MENUS: Turned out correct and nice with the exception of two guests she forgot to print for.
WINE BOTTLE FAVORS: Were absolutely horrible! They were printed on standard AVERY labels and looked as though her printer was running out of ink. The proof I approved had the guest name in a thin script font. We received them with the names in a runny black bold. On top of that she forgot to make labels for two of our guests so we had to hand write in their names and table number on the blank copies she supplied.
PROGRAMS: Turned out nice but she used a cheaper paper than what we paid for and never credited us back. We received the invites first and it was a complete nightmare leading up to getting the wine labels, programs and menus. When we finally got everything we were all completely done with Kasey and her disgusting attitude so we just dealt with the awful product received

Follow your instincts...walk away.

This is what I should have done. After much research of staionary vendors, I chose Kasey because of convenience and the display products in her showroom were lovely. The Kasey you deal with prior to signing the contract and paying the first installment is far different that the Kasey you deal with after. While “abrasive” is a good term to describe her pre-signing personality, I thought I could deal with her personality just fine if the product output was as good as it seemed she was capable of. However, upon paying the deposit, she proceeded the get into an argument with my fiancé about something completely non-wedding related and I knew then we had made a terrible mistake.

Keep in mind, Kasey's “contract” only protects her. You will likely not receive what you think you are ordering contractually from her—and there is nothing you can do. When I picked up my final items as we were headed out of town for our wedding I was shocked to discover she had not followed the color scheme indicated in the contract--and it was far too late to do anything about it now. She chose to use colors which we not in my scheme and then proceed to make the situation worse by saying "that was as close" as they could get. A bold face lie.

The programs were also printed off center and looked completely unprofessional. She missed deadlines and when confronted, gave numerous lame excuses.

Following the disappointing pick up of our items, rather then spend precious quality time with our families, my fiancé and I scrambled to find another vendor who re-made everything in ONE day, in quality work which far exceeded what we paid for from DBY.
