The Best!!!!

I reached out after our photographer canceled as our wedding neared and from the first time, I spoke with Mike I was sure we were now in amazing hands. Then the pandemic hit but Mike did not miss a beat. We had to make many changes but what did not change was the welcoming and professional nature of Custom Photography they were always quick to respond and willing to adapt to it all. I can't wait until our next photoshoot!! We highly recommend Mike & Marian! Wedding postponed until August 2021.

Incredible experience!!!

Mike and Marian are wonderful and talented photographers who we hired for family portraits. They did amazing work with our family and were kind and patient with two little ones, enabling us to get some wonderful pictures of the baby and toddler in our group. We had an incredible number of photos to choose from and were delighted with the results!! When I need a professional portrait for a publication, the care and skill Marian took to make sure an image I chose from our family sitting was perfect and the time she spent on my photo to make me look great were unbelievable!! She made corrections to the image I never even thought of. She is an artist! We were so thoroughly pleased with their work, we hired them to photograph our son's wedding. Having done 4200 weddings, the Linett's are by far the most experienced photographers in the area and, as we could see from the wedding photos in their home, they do beautiful work. outstanding experience!

This was a truely great experience having our wintertime wedding celebration photographed by Mike and his lovely wife Marion. They took care of details that could have stood in our way before they materialized. We have already previewed our wedding photos and the finished keepsake book, too. My husband and I met Mike and Marian at a bridal show and we're immediately drawn to their friendly personalities. From there our amazement grew at the consultation and viewed all their past work. Most companies try to just sell you with fancy talk on how they can make your day the best ever, however they didn't. They just showed with their work. Everything was perfect! Excellent Experience

Mike and Marian Linett were the perfect addition to our Outer Banks Thursday, November 7, 2019, wedding which actually planned in less than six weeks. Whenever we needed to contact them either by email, phone or text, they responded promptly and always offering the assistance that we needed. In that six week time, our engagement session was photographed with plenty of time for us to have a beautiful beach portrait on display at our reception. By getting married on a Thursday , we were lucky and had them both at our wedding. Our guests constantly asked if the Linetts were friends or family who they just had not met. The week before Christmas, we received all the edited images from our wedding electronically so that we could share with everyone over the holidays. Now our task at hand will be selecting the images which will be used to design our digital composite wedding album, but sure this will be January once the holidays are past. Thank you Mike and Marian for capturing every special moment of our wedding and reception.

A Beautiful Album of Beautiful Pictures

Mike & Marian did an absolutely fantastic job of capturing every aspect of our wedding. Marian did the actual picture taking and applying the finishing touches of cleaning up the photos, and Mike used his creative genius to put them into a beautiful album that will always bring back very fond memories of our wedding day. We had seen examples of their work so our expectations were very high, but their final product exceeded our expectations. We were so impressed that in addition to our personal album, we ordered a scaled down version for each of our children. In addition to their professionalism and technical expertise, Mike & Marion were just simply very nice and fun people to work with. Our experience with this company was great!

We really enjoyed working with this dynamic duo! Even with thunderstorms raining on our special day, Mike and Marian were able to capture some of the most beautiful photos, and really preserved all of our wonderful memories from our Williamsburg double wedding through photography! The quality of our photos and our memory books were top notch, and I am so thankful we were able to hire them as our photographers. Destination Wedding

Mike and Marian are two of the best in the business! This duo is everything that you are looking for in a photographer. My wife and I were put into a predicament just weeks before our wedding when our photographer cancelled on us. I contacted Mike, and we finalized a deal the same day! Memorable for the rest of our lives

Working with Mike and Marian has been amazing! My husband and I always wanted to do a destination wedding, but didn't even know where to begin. We were fortunate enough to have a wonderful wedding planner who suggested Mike and Marian because of working together. Mike and Marian were very responsive to every email I sent and were very caring and understanding with all my concerns, especially when a Hurricane had to postpone my first wedding. Fantastic Experience!

Every detail of our February 8, 2019, elopement was captured by Mike Linett of Custom Photography. Not being from the area, we had selected a wedding location but knew none of the scenic spots in the area. After photographing our early afternoon ceremony, Mike led us to many of area's most romantic landmarks. Our wedding photographs are beautiful and capture all the love of our wedding day. Since I did not have flowers of my own, he even loaned me one from their studio. Thanks so much for everything.

Amazing!

I met Mike and Marian at a Bridal Expo, about 7 months before my September 23 wedding. Almost immediately I knew I wanted them to photograph my wedding. For the time I was at their booth Mike showed the upmost attention to only me (and my crew) and did not make it feel like a transaction at all. Within five minutes I felt like I’ve known him for years. The next day my now husband, mom, and I visited the Linettes at their home, where they work with another partner, Steve. I felt like I was visiting a relative. They shared their stories with no mention of the dozens of plaques and awards which filled their walls, which most people/companies make a selling point. I didn’t know there were so any photography degrees and awards, Custom Photography had them all. They showed me many of their photos, which were absolutely beautiful, and did not pressure me at all, told me to contact them once I was ready. I ended up booking that night and signing my contact which included engagement shoots, bridal portraits, 3 event books, canvas photos, two all day photographers, and copyrights to all the pictures received. The Linettes were amazing to work with, so flexible and personable. Every time I needed to contact them I was able to with promptness and felt like I was speaking with an aunt or uncle. I was able to substitute my engagement shoots with boudoir photos. Their home has a separate section for their photography studio; it even has props and a dressing room! It was so much fun and they made me feel so confident! Marian made sure my body looked amazing in all shots and the way they worked together was like one, even finishing each other’s sentences and posing ideas. I could tell they absolutely loved what they did! Same for my bridals which my pictures were unbelievable- like a magazine. I felt beautiful! The day of my wedding my photographers were Marian and Steve! Steve was just as personable as Mike and Marian, I could also tell he was an expert at what he did and loved to photograph! He captured some absolutely amazing shots, photos I didn’t even think to request. He was also tall enough to get photos from above during my ceremony. Marian and Steve worked just like Marian and Mike, like one! I got my edits back a week before expected and the wait was worth it!! OMG! They were beautiful. They got photos I didn’t even remember taking, including shots of people at the photo booth, just stunning work. I will absolutely recommend them and use them for any future event we have. The only negative I have will be missing them after I pick up my books. Book them!! You won’t regret it!

Custom Photography Definitely The Right Choice

Very happy and we just got married yesterday, October 26th. Even with drizzle, dreary skies and winds, Marian was fantastic to work with. After our ceremony, she took us back to their Kill Devil Hills home/studio where we posed using a beautiful beach scene her daughter had painted. Marian and Mike were the only calm and collected entity of our Hurricane Matthew wedding weekend. Ceremony was originally scheduled for Friday evening with the anticipated Hurricane's arrival, but with family and friends already in town everything was moved into action for a Thursday wedding. With racing emotions, everyone's words of wisdom as to what we should do, along with anticipation of weather, the Linetts just took everything into stride and captured beautiful memories. In consideration of how they work in Hurricane mode, we can only image how the perfectly planned beautiful weather weddings are photographed.

I met Mr. & Mrs. Linett at my very first bridal show in 2016. I saw a few other photographers but none of them had the passion and energy that this husband and wife team have. This duo has a passion for what they do and what they do is their passion. Fast forward to my wedding day, May 2018. As the bride I was not watching the clock and had no true concept of what time it was until I heard Mr. Linett's voice. At that moment I knew it was "show time" and everything got real. I found Mike and Marian at a wedding show and I haven't had one bad thing to say about them. THEY ARE AN AMAZING COUPLE TO WORK WITH!!! They took my ideas and my wishes and ran with them! I couldn't have asked to work with a better couple, they were always easy to reach (like at 1 am the morning of my wedding), and even gave recommendations on other vendors to try. My husband and I are now joking that if we ever get divorced who would get custody of Mike and Marian ;) lol We love this couple they made our day so must better and the memories they've captured will be treasured.

Couldn't have found a more fun, outgoing photographer. Mike was fantastic to work with and answered my non-stop questions in email and phone call form. Every single aspect of working with Custom Photography was out of this world. Custom Photography was the crown jewel of our wedding. With three rain outs for our engagement session, Mike and Mike just said "we'll eventually hit a pretty day and we did". My wedding gown arrived late and alterations were not exactly what was expected. Same as with our engagements, The Linetts just said no problem - reschedule whenever your dress is ready." They were even able to have a bridal portrait ready for display at our reception. No matter what happened with our wedding plans, Mike and Marian always had a solution. On our wedding day, after dressing shots at my parents' home, our limo did not show, and who actually carried me to the ceremony. It was Marian because her SUV had plenty of room. Our priest had already told us that he was the best of friends with Mike and Marian because he was the one who recommended Custom Photography. Every wedding party and family image is perfect. At our reception, honestly there is a photo of every guest and every event that took place with all the important details covered. If looking for photographers that will listen and deliver, Marian and Mike who own Custom Photography should be your choice. Our photographs are beautiful, and we now have to tackle the task of deciding which images will be chosen for our wedding album.

Mike & Marian are the best and most understanding to our wedding needs. We are both active duty military, and all total, had to switch our wedding date four times. Whenever speaking to them by phone, we always felt like the most important couple on their wedding calendar. Our many, many emails and text messages were always answered promptly usually within minutes. The true testimonial are our wedding photographs captured on a hot Friday in May. Our ceremony venue had ac problems which was quickly remedied by their suggestion of doing all family photographs at a beautiful wooded area with water in the background. The reception photographs show family and friends having the time of their lives. My Grandfather says Webster dictionary does not have enough words to describe the memories that Custom Photography delivered to us and we can hardly wait to make the choices for our wedding album.

Mike was absolutely amazing to work with! He was very responsive and stayed in touch with me before our wedding, which was such a relief since I planned our wedding from across the country. Our weekday beach ceremony was on a rainy, rainy day in Nags Head, North Carolina. The Linetts were most accommodating with making sure we had beautiful memories. Our ceremony time had to be juggled between thunder storms which also gave us very dramatic skies in our beach pictures. With only maid of honor and best man in our wedding party and six relatives in attendance, we all made mad dashes in and out of the rain. After ceremony and beach pictures, Mike and Marian suggested going back to their Kill Devil Hills home based photography studio where we posed for portraits using a beautiful hand painted beach scene which their daughter in law had created. There are not enough words to describe how happy we are with our wedding pictures.

Do it! They were friendly, professional, punctual and they got me exactly what I wanted. Our event was a wedding and baptism. The priest called Marian up to the front to take photos and that provided great lighting with the huge window. She was even able to maneuver around all our junk and the crazy colored room where I was getting ready.

Custom Photography was one of the best choices made for our January 2017 wedding. Since we are both elementary educators, our students surprised us with a special presentation during the beginning of our reception. Some of our fellow school friends had also chosen The Linetts to capture their weddings in years past and made prior contact with Marian so she would be ready for the students songs and skits which were a real delight to the two of us as well as our reception guests. Plan was for the two of us to be involved in a portrait session with a couple of late family members, and the minute we can back in, our students were awaiting us and ready to entertain. What a delight it was, and Marian captured the expressions of each smiling child's face that mean so much to the two of us. With our wedding images were quickly in our hands, and we are now faced with the task of making selections for our wedding album. Very, very pleased with Custom Photography.

Great things to say about our Custom Photography experience. Our wedding was planned in a whirlwind two week period due to family illness. The only thing we really had was each other. Mike and Marian were a delight to work with and assisted us in just about everything from locating a Sunday venue, an officiant and flowers. Photographs were of the utmost importance to us and we will forever treasure the pictures of our Great Grandfather who was able to be at our wedding. Mike took our 10 year anniversary photos. He arrived early, was very friendly, and waited with us a while for the weather to clear so we didn't have to reschedule. He took a lot of photos in various scenic backgrounds along the sound and ocean front. We received our digital photos within 2 days!! He made us laugh during the session so the smiles were genuine! Wow! What to say about Mike and Marian Linett. They are quite the dynamic duo. Words cant really describe about how wonderful both of these two really are. My wife was on a mission to set out for a photographer for our wedding. She decided to go to a bridal show to hopefully find somebody are get a possible referral of a photographer. Luckily we came across these 2 wonderful people. These two are like family. From day one, they put all concerns about pictures and how they might turn out away. We sat down with both of them and they laid everything out from the beginning, putting our minds at ease. When we finalized on what we wanted, we knew we were in good hands. Talk about affordability, they work with all and are flexible with all types of budgets…but let me tell you. After meeting them, you will only want them!!!!
Our wedding day was absolutely amazing, and we couldn’t have had a better day. From the weather, our friends and family, and of course our wonderful photographers. We were very fortunate to have Marian that day. Sorry Mike haha. She was so attentive and didn’t miss a single shot. My wife and I had ideas as to what type of pictures and backgrounds we wanted captured, and Marian made sure we had everything, and more!! We didn’t even see her half the night because she was literally everywhere taking amazing shots of all our family and friends. All the guests had nothing but wonderful things to say about her and that she hustled everywhere we went. And we will never forget one of her favorite sayings “ ok 1 more”. See that’s how great she is. Not just a couple snap shots and move on. She always wanted one more. Whether it be because of hair change, wind direction, lightening, or just a simple pose, she wanted more. Our faces hurt by the end of the night because we took so many photos.

Mike was wonderful to work with. He fit right in with my family.
It rained on our wedding day but we gave my mom and umbrella which she used to follow Mike around so we could have our wedding on the beach. He was such a trooper.
Pictures were emailed and mailed to us within a week or two.
We highly recommend Mike and Marian. Both are welcoming and kind people. Great photography. You won't be disappointed.

Amazing. Beautiful. Funny. Family owned. Perfect . Steve was our photographer and he did an amazing job with getting pictures my husband and I requested. I also love how Marian came out after her wedding shoot and was able to come to Tyler and I's wedding to shoot even more photos. This is an AMAZING family and their work is to die for. Our families thoroughly enjoyed The Linetts who own Custom Photography. Since it was the slower wedding season and a Friday evening, we were lucky to have both Marion & Mike. The wedding images are spectacular with pictures of things we didn't even know happened. It's amazing what relatives and friends will do for a camera! We first met The Linetts at a January bridal show and were thrilled that they could photograph our wedding on only close to three month's notice. The images on DVD are fantastic and can hardly wait to for our finished wedding album, the only problem being, we have to make decisions on which will actually be in our album. If the two of them had not taken so, so many fun pictures, we would not be facing this problem. Looks like we just had too much fun and there are pictures to prove it!

My wife, my fiancee then, took me to visit Marian and Mike Linett and they were so much fun and friendly and easy to talk to we decided to use them immediately for our engagement and wedding session. Mike and Marian were great! From the first time we met them at a bridal show, they took us under their wing and treated us like family. They helped us pick a beautiful spot for our engagement photos, even included our 8 month old daughter in some of the photos! We were new to the area, so they recommended a DJ, who was amazing as well, had nothing but great things to say about our wedding venue and coordinator. They made me feel like a princess for my bridal portraits, paying close attention to all the smalls details to make the portraits beautiful. They day of the wedding was a little hectic, due to the weather and having to change venue last minute and bossy bridesmaids, but Marian rolled with the punches and was very professional. Marian made sure to get all the photos that we wanted, plus lots of extras and surprises. She wasn't one of those photographers that stood in the background, she was actually out of the dance floor with everyone to get the candid shots! We consider Mike and Marian part of the family and highly recommend them as wedding photographers!

Mike and Marian are AMAZING people! Their work is PHENOMENAL!!!!! Bridal portraits were taken and given to me the same day. All photo shoots are done in a very timely manner. They work with you and are so fun to be around! Words can not express how satisfied we are with them and their work! Absolutely amazing!

Our midweek OBX September beach wedding was planned to hopefully eliminate stress, but we were in for a surprise. Hopes of moderate temperatures shot up to a high of 94 with humidity and drizzle. Our beach wedding with tented reception was appearing to be only a dream. Whenever we called Mike or Marian, they both had a tremendous calming effect constantly assuring me that everything would work out and our wedding would be beautiful no matter where it ended up taking place. I honestly believe either of these two could photograph a wedding in the middle of a riot and it would look like a planned celebration. We had to move from Wednesday to Thursday to accomodate the weather. With well meaning relatives and friends continuously offering opinions, the Linetts had clear thoughts and their feet on the ground throughout the entire celebration. With the weather and mid-week, they were both at our wedding taking turns to dry out after being soaked. Images have been delivered, and we are thrilled not only with our wonderful memories, but also with our new friends, the Linetts.

The part of wedding planning that caused me the most amount of stress was selecting a photographer. Not only are there an overwhelming amount of them, but it was hard to find someone that you would really love to have at your event and was truly talented. We took engagement photos with a family friend photographer that made me cry for days. I absolutely hated how we looked in every photo and I was absolutely positively scared of it happening again. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a photo of myself that I wasn't ready to just crumple down in a drawer somewhere so I was worried about spending money for photos I wouldn't want to see!

Upon answering a fateful Craigslist ad, viewing wedding wire reviews, and talking to Mike and Marian - making the decision was then absolutely easy. From the first meeting, my fears were laid to rest as they showed photos from other weddings they have done. They showed photos of people, real people of all shapes and sizes, and they all looked great!

We just got our wedding photos back a couple of days ago, which was a lot faster than I thought it would be! I have to say I absolutely loved every photo. He captured some of the most beautiful and lovely moments.

We took our engagement photos after the wedding, because we got kind of busy.... but it was amazing that there was no judgment on us being a tad late on that! They've seen it all! While we haven't gotten those back yet, Marian was so attentive to every detail and was also just such a pleasant joy to be around! From the views she showed us from her camera, we have no doubt we will love those just as much as well!

Overall, it was so great to meet these two lovely people and have them share an experience with us! And to all my fellow plus-sized brides out there, do yourself a favor and look into Custom Photography! I am so glad we did! I cannot say enough how wonderful our experience was!

When choosing a photographer for an event such as wedding, you have to be sure that you are working with professionals who care considerably about their craft. Custom Photography worked with us every step of the way, for each of our three sessions.

Our engagement photos were on a cold grey day, but our results came out fantastic! From posing us to fixing hair, Mike and Marian took great care that everything was to our satisfaction.

On my bridal day, I was provided an in-studio dressing room to prepare, as well as walked away with my bridal images on CD the very same day! The quality of work reflects in each individual photograph, and leaves me proud and smiling each time I see how well they were taken.

On our wedding day, Mike showed up early, (unfortunately, I was not ready for pre-pictures yet) but he understood the chaos completely and went and worked the rounds with the guys (we know they don't take nearly as long for prep-work ;) ) He got every moment in detail, so that we relived our wedding day without the hectic feelings attached at a later date. Now we've gotten 394 photos to sift through for our albums, which I have no doubt will be just as beautifully arranged as were our many poses and photos :)

Marian and Mike were very professional and are very easy to talk to. They make you feel like you have known them a long time. There prices were amazing and they are very flexable. Marian who took our pictures knew exactly which pictures to take with the lighting and all ove our guest loved talking to her due to her amazing personnality. Mike was very professional when showing us samples of there work and both Marian and Mike always had a smile on there face. They deffinetly love what they do. The final product of our pictures came out amazing. Mike and Marian of Custom Photography is a must 5.0 and five stars. I would highley recommend anyone to hire them. Picking Custom Photography was truly a blessing! We had a family beach wedding and couldn't have made a better choice! Mike came prepared and knew the relations, people's names, who to group together and EVERYONE loved the energy he brought! At the last minute, we asked if he could come early and not only did he show up early to convenience us, but he stayed later than expected. He took great shots and captured intimate moments giving us memories that will last forever! When he left we didn't expect a call so quick, but he called the next day to tell us that Marian burned the midnight oil so we could see a slide show of the pictures he took before we left the beach. We met Mike & Marian at a January 2015 bridal show. They were able to show us loads of samples from our venue giving us an idea of exactly how our wedding and reception would look like in photographs. We were so glad that we had chosen a May Sunday wedding date because they were both already booked on Friday and Saturday. The two of us picked up our DVD today and paperwork for planning our wedding album, and we are so excited to get started selecting our favorites for our album and parent albums. We have so much to choose from that it will be a really hard job picking the best of the best. There can not be anything that happened on our wedding day that we do not have a picture of. We not only found great photographers, but also found great friends.

Mike was our photographer for our wedding. He made me feel like ours was the only wedding in the world that day. He is very personable and made all our guests feel welcome and important. I would highly recommend Mike and Marin to anyone. The photos are amazing and we did not even know Mike was there. He seemed to take pictures from every angle all at the same time! They even created a package for us that fit exactly what we wanted and needed.

Marian was our photographer for our wedding on 04.04.15 and she was fabulous. We held our wedding in our backyard and she did an amazing job maneuvering around guests and furniture. She did her best to make sure we looked great in every photo. Marian and Mike are fair in price and the quality of photography is superb. They are very personable and professional and we've really enjoyed working with them.

Custom Photography was a joy to work with for my Friday, March 13, 2015, OBX wedding, At our first meeting, I mentioned to The Linetts this was our second wedding and that we were planning a beach wedding even though it would still be chilly with March temps by the ocean. Their response was winter skies are much prettier than summer and brought another point to mind which was nobody would perspire from the normal hot beach temps. From the beginning, it was a perfect match. The Linetts listened to what we would like rather than tell us what we needed. We just passed along a couple of photographic ideas. Our images are beautiful, and inspite of us both being in our fifties, we look like kids enjoying our wedding! Love the fact that we first met Custom Photography in Virginia Beach and thrilled that they also had an Outer Banks studio.

I saw Mike & Marion Linett at a bridal show. Upon my initial consultation with Mike I knew immediately Mike & Marian were the right photographers for my wedding. His excitement, knowledge, flexibility & pointers convinced me they were it- my best choice! Marion covered my wedding & reception. She arrived early taking pictures of the banquet room/decorations, my bridesmaids & I getting ready; arriving guests & during the ceremony. My ceremony pictures during & after came out beautiful! She took advantage of a catamaran on the beach making sure to capture it in our backgrounds. She was able to capture family & friends celebrating our special day during the reception from our arrival, dinner, toasts & dancing. Her assistant took our funny pictures, which will be remembered by all. She knew exactly when to have us outside for our spectacular sunset pictures on the beach! When Mike & Marion first showed me the pictures I was so in awe of how beautiful they all came out. Marion made sure to include a picture of my husband's late parents & my late father that I had on the guest book table for a memorial to them. It brought happy tears. They work with any budget! What better way to start 2015 than to celebrate our marriage! January 2, 2015, was a bitter and breezy day, but Marian braved the cold for a last minute wedding by the James River. Since our plans were quickly made, the Linetts suggested the best time that a beautiful sunset might be captured, and we have the photographs to prove it.

Mike and Marian Linett did an amazing job for our beach wedding in June! We first met them by going out to their studio in Virginia Beach. We were interested in their photography because of their experience in beach wedding photography on the Outer Banks. While they were showing us their photography collection we came across a wedding they did for our friend Starza in San Juan. They did such a great job with their wedding that we decided to book them that day. We met about a week before the wedding to do a photoshoot with the two of us on the beach and in front of the Bode Island lighthouse. We managed to get a bunch of great photos right before a storm rolled into the Outer Banks. Mike was the photographer for our wedding and was extremely professional even dealing with some of our more discourteous friends and family. He also did a great job of clearing out people from the shots on the beach. He arrived early and took a lot of great shots of the bridesmaids getting ready, the setup of the reception hall, and the setup of the beach ceremony. The beach ceremony shots turned out great even though it was extremely bright and hot outside for the ceremony. The reception photos looked great and he stayed late to get tons of great photos of everyone dancing. I highly recommend their photography service!

I met Mike at a bridal show, and I picked him because I felt like I was getting the best value of the package I got for the best price. We got engagement photos, bridal portraits, and of course the wedding day. I'm very happy! All my pictures are beautiful! It did take a while to get the pictures back, but that's because we got ALL of them, and all of them touched up, not like some people just offer to touch up so many. Mike is very sweet, and very outgoing we had a great time having him at the wedding capturing every moment!
