  The ladies at CROP, downtown Mystic, made my wedding day special and had me feeling that my wedding day was going to be a success-one of a kind!! They were kind enough to open the salon and come in on the morning of Fathers Day. The had my hair (bride) and five bridesmaids hair to do in all different styles. We brought in pastries and beverages to keep us fueled and ready for the day. Lisa Van Kruiningen did my hair in a updo with a beautiful clip of feathers. I had heard of the salon through town and a friend of mine. I now go there to get my hair colored and cut as a regular customer. What they did for me on my wedding day was a professional, well run and friendly business which led me to become a year-round guest! I recommend if getting married in the area to check them out. My wedding was in Middletown, CT and I made time to get my hair done and CROP and was one of my best wedding planning decisions I had made. Thank you Lisa and staff for your hard work.

  We reserved Crop for our bridal party. It was perfect!!! The whole crew at Crop were very professional and attentive to all our requests. They even served us wine and champagne as we spent our afternoon in their cozy salon. It's so conviently located to everything Mystic has to offer.

  I had my hair done here as a bridesmaid with the rest of the wedding party. The stylist doing my hair kept talking about the "wedding she was at the night before" and left twice during my appointment to use to restroom. I brought in pictures and asked for a very specific hair style based on events I've attended in the past and the stylist kept trying to suggest something completely different--basically, easier for her. She seemed unwilling to listen to my requests and more interested in what she thought would look good. By the time the wedding came, my hair was totally loose and looked like I had just rolled out of bed.

  Overall, this salon was low quality and overpriced. It is well decorated and in a prime, mystic location. First, the hair dresser the bride received her trial from could not come to work that day (which is fine, uncontrollable circumstance). The issue was, the hair dresser who did her hair still charged her full price and no refund was received for the trial. The brides hair did not look like her trial day and she was visibly upset by it. A bridesmaid had to take the curling iron herself and fix the brides hair. The salon did nothing to remedy this (again, she was charged a total of $220 between trial and day of). Her hair style was not complicated, so there was clearly an up charge because she was the bride.
  On to the bridesmaids... I called ahead and was told my hair would be $45 for a wash/blow dry and curls. I did not get it wash or dried, the curls took probably around 35 minutes and turned out horrible! I was so disappointed and ended up asking another hair stylist to fix it (she spend ten mins making it look much better). I sent a photo to my friend and she said it looked like I just woke up. The salon ended up charging me and another girl who just got curls $75. I argued it because I was told $45 and got the price down to $50. I felt bad that they needed to spend so much time just on curls and tipped $10 each ( now regretting it). The other bridesmaids.. Two got updos , they looked nothing like the photos they presented. One got a braid with curls.. Whole thing fell out within two hours. Another bridesmaid was so rushed at the end that she was charged $75 just for some curls and her hair to be pulled back in a half pony tail. This also fell out by ceremony time. We all had to recurl our hair by 5pm (the hair was completed [very late] at 2: 15pm) . Don't go here unless you want bad hair, stress, no money, and tears!
