Zach was an amazing DJ for our wedding at El Mangroove in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. He was easy to work with, flexible during the planning process, and did a great job timing music transitions around speeches and other key moments. The dance floor was packed all night, and our friends and family had an absolute blast. He kept the energy up, read the crowd perfectly, and helped make our wedding reception unforgettable. Highly recommend! -

We truly cannot say enough good things about DJ Guana. From the moment the dance floor opened, it was packed and it stayed that way for four straight hours. Not a single lull, not a single reason to step away. The music was perfectly timed, the transitions were seamless, and every song kept the energy high. They read the crowd flawlessly and created an atmosphere where everyone, of all ages, just wanted to keep dancing. Zach was the absolute best. I’ve been to and helped with so many weddings and I know how hard it can be to find a legitimate wedding DJ. Zach was 10 stars from start to finish. Communication was so on point. He didn’t miss a beat (pun intended). His wife was also a massive help in weeding planning for us. Not sure if she does it full time but she was an absolute rock star. Might be worth asking Zach if she’s available. I will 1000000000% be hiring Zach (& his wife, if she’s available) for my 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th weddings!!!! -

DJ Guana aka DJ Zach was great! We interviewed and got estimates from several DJs in Costa Rica. He answered all of our questions about his process and was very affordable. He had a questionnaire to learn about our likes and dislikes as well as specific songs we wanted for each part of the day. We had a call about 1-2 weeks before our wedding to discuss and walk through everything so that we felt at ease. The day of the wedding went great and just as planned. He was high energy and kept our guests dancing all night. We would highly recommend! -

From the start DJ Guana (Zach) was highly recommended and super easy to work with. He responded to all of my emails and questions quickly and was always available to make recommendations and suggestions.
I cannot recommend DJ Guana enough! He kept the party going all night and we had the time of our lives. He played all of our requests, avoided our “do not play” list and added additional songs that were huge crowd pleasers. He knows how to make a wedding fun for all ages!
DJ Guana was such a pleasure to work with and if we ever need a DJ in Costa Rica again we would not hesitate to call him.

If You Want a Dance Floor That’s On Fire and a DJ Who Actually Listens, This Is Your Guy!!
From the moment we connected with Zach, we knew we were in good hands. This guy is not just a DJ, he's a mood-setter, and full-on vibe curator. Super nice, super professional, and somehow just got exactly what we wanted without us having to say much. We threw a lot at him! from classic ceremony cues to dance floor bangers and he nailed every single beat. One of the most important moments to me was the walk down the aisle. I was super particular about when I wanted the music to hit... and let me tell you, he nailed the cue so perfectly, it was like something out of a movie. (I still get chills thinking about it.) The reception? Absolute party. He had people of all ages dancing like nobody was watching. The transitions? Smooth as butter. The energy? Off the charts. He read the room like a seasoned pro and kept the vibe alive all night long.
Bottom line: The man knows what he’s doing. If you want a DJ who’s as invested in your day as you are and who will absolutely crush it from start to finish, look no further. 100% recommend. Would hire him again in a heartbeat (but hopefully we only get married once 😉).

Zach was absolutely incredible and such a huge part of what made our wedding unforgettable. From start to finish, he had the party going and the energy high. Every single guest we talked to mentioned how much fun they had dancing—and we couldn't thank Costa Rica -DJ & Zach enough.
He handled everything music-related seamlessly—from the ceremony procession to introducing us as a couple, and of course, the reception. He was professional, organized, and just so easy to work with. We really appreciated the form he gave us at the beginning—it helped him understand our music taste and personalities so well. You could feel that personal touch in each moment of the night.
Zach took our input like a pro and delivered on every single detail. He’s incredibly experienced and was able to adapt on the fly, which gave us so much peace of mind. The transitions were smooth, the recommendations were perfect, and the dance floor was packed all night long.

From start to finish, he was on point, his MC skills were fantastic, keeping everything flowing smoothly and making all the announcements with just the right energy.
When it came to the music, he absolutely nailed it! The dance floor was packed all night long, and everyone, from our youngest cousins to the grandparents, everyone had an incredible time. He read the room perfectly and kept the vibes high with every single track.

Dj Guana was truly AMAZING & made our wedding night so so so special. I couldn’t stay off the dance floor and neither could our guests! I have had multiple guests tell me how they have never been to a wedding where once the dancing started, it didn’t stop!!! It made a huge difference having him as our DJ. We got married this May 2025 in Tamarindo and hired Zach (DJ Guana) for our reception. Not only is Zach very professional and able to play my requested Spotify playlists, but he kept the party going! All of our guests came up to us after the wedding and said that our wedding was the most fun wedding that they’ve ever been to! DJ Zack was phenomenal from the start - very responsive, communicating with his was easy. He had an entire form to fill out sings from the ceremony entrances up until the last song of the night. He was able to use my apple music playlist that I had been working on and play songs when he thought would be best. He was incredibly easy to work with and even worked with me to make a "special" song to for us to commemorate our American college football team's game that was the same night as the wedding. Every person was out on the dance floor and I heard from so many of guests how much fun it was and that they weren't expecting to be dancing all night! If you're currently looking for a wedding DJ for your destination Costa Rica wedding, just stop your searching and book with DJ Zach. I promise you that you will be so happy that you trusted this review. I live in California and he came as a recommendation and thank goodness about that. The night was absolutely PERECT! He did not miss with one song all night and my guests were saying things like, "I've never danced for 3 hours straight before" "This is the best dancing wedding I've ever been to" and "He is the best wedding DJ I've ever heard"! The picture of us is how the whole night went! I also had multiple guests asking what playlist that was because they wanted it.
SONGS:
Zach had us put our 20 Must-Play songs (he played every single one and at the times we wanted) as well as the Do Not Play songs. He also asked the type of music that we liked so he could curate the music around us! My husband and I had specific song requests/mixes for our two choreographed dances and he helped us execute perfectly! It was the perfect mix of music and he read the room so well that the only time people weren't dancing was when they went to the bathroom or grabbed a drink
COMMUNICATION:
Communication with Zach was easy as we talked over email and he was always so responsive. We had a lot of specific requests and he made sure to ask clarifying questions so we were on the same page over the last few months leading up to the wedding.
SET UP:
Everything was so easy for us as we let Zach know that we would need his services for the ceremony and reception and he worked with our wedding planner to get those locations set up. We showed up to both locations and he had everything ready to go and the vibes going!
I could not believe how perfect of a night it was as he kept the vibes going on all night! My guests and I have been to a lot of weddings between us and we could not stop talking for the days following how great of a time it was. There's a reason he's a 5-star DJ so do yourself the biggest favor and book him! -

DJ Zach truly lived up to his 5 star reputation! If you’re having a wedding in Costa Rica he’s your DJ. I cannot say enough good things about DJ Zach. We had hired a different DJ who unfortunately got very sick the week of our wedding. We had to scramble to find another DJ. Zach agreed to fill in just a few days before the wedding, which was a huge relief. We gave him a playlist of songs we liked, and even with just a small amount of time to prepare he absolutely killed it as our wedding DJ. Multiple friends commented that every song was a banger so they couldn’t leave the dance floor. We had the most amazing wedding reception we could imagine and that was in huge part due to DJ Zach. We even asked him to announce we were jumping in the pool at the end of fine night, and he happily went along with it. He was also warm and easy to talk to. We celebrated our wedding at Dreams Las Mareas in Costa Rica, and I cannot emphasize enough how phenomenal DJ Zach was. Right from the start, we knew having amazing music at our wedding was a nonnegotiable. We also knew we would not get that from working with the resort DJ. Our goal was not only to curate a playlist that resonated with both my husband and me but also to cultivate an energetic atmosphere ensuring the dance floor remained packed all night long.
As the bride, my ultimate desire was to dance the night away, and Zach exceeded all expectations by bringing the dance floor to life! It was a sight to behold as our guests of all ages, from our 3-year-old ring bearer to the bridal party, most attendees, and even our parents, stayed on the dance floor all night long, creating unforgettable moments. It was truly incredible and a memory that will undoubtedly be etched in our hearts forever.
Zach's communication was seamless throughout the entire process. He was quick to respond and made the planning process so easy. On the night of the event, he skillfully balanced taking requests from guests while respecting our do-not-play list, ensuring our satisfaction. His announcements were impeccable, adding an extra layer of charm to moments like speeches, dances, and our second look entrance.
Planning a wedding, especially a destination one, comes with its challenges, but hiring DJ Zach is a no-brainer. His professionalism, responsiveness, and ability to craft an unforgettable musical experience make him a standout choice. Without hesitation, we give him a 10/10 recommendation!

Dj Guana absolutely CRUSHED it! So many of my guests complimented the music at our reception, saying the DJ was playing banger after banger. He had all of our guests of all ages on the dance floor the entire reception. He was so easy to communicate with via email leading up to the wedding, and was there for us all night if we had any requests. He did an excellent job at MCing as well, keeping our guests in the loop of certain events. Weeks before the wedding I sent him a couple playlists of songs we liked for dinner and dancing. He was able to work with those lists and add his own jams in there that made the perfect flow of music throughout the night. I highly recommend him for a fabulous and care free time at your wedding or other event! -

We are from the US and wanted to make sure we had a DJ who was able to speak English and knew the popular songs. Zach was so enthusiastic and you could tell he really enjoys what he does. He was very easy to work with from a distance and did a great job mixing songs we chose, with songs he picked. He was very accommodating as well and allowed our brother in law to MC the reception. He had our guests on the dance floor all night!!!! We highly recommend him for your beautiful wedding in Costa Rica!!! -

Zach was so kind & responsive with my million questions, as well as helping with recommendations even outside of music for our event. He communicated very well, had everyone dancing and busting a move the whole time (even during the cocktail hour!) and people didn’t even seem to care that they were sweating nonstop! He kept the party going based on what he saw the crowd liked. Highly recommend Zach for your wedding, he was the perfect amount of go with the flow & get it done! -

Having Zach Schmidt as our DJ was one of the highlights of our wedding day. He is flexible, understanding, insanely intuitive, hilarious, and just honestly the best DJ we could have ever dreamt of. From witty musical numbers during speeches (epic), to changing plans at the last moment- he made it happen. Before our wedding, my husband and I had a call with Zach where we explicitly said “we’re going for a dinner party vibe. we don’t need crazy hype dance party music” he said awesome and he would make it great. Well, we changed our minds after the sentimental first dances. We approached him and said “forget what we said, let’s party” and he CRUSHED IT. He intuitively knew our crew and played the absolute best of 90’s punk pop with some pop and hip hop. When I tell you every single person was out of their chair and on the dance floor- I’m talking from my 80 year old grandpa to my 2 year old niece. It was the best party I have ever (and probably will ever) have in my whole life. Hire DJ Zach, you will not regret it. -

DJ Guana was absolutely fantastic! He double checked exactly how we wanted to be introduced and timings of all the dances. He was also in communication with our wedding coordinator so that he knew when to be ready for the firework moment. He was extremely professional and kept everything rolling smoothly. We gave him a list of mine and my fiancé’s favorite music which a mix of pop and punk and he made it work perfectly! He was a great mc and the dances and speeches went flawlessly. At the end of the night he let us make an announcement to say thank you to our guests and that we were moving the party to the nightclub! I would 10000% recommend him! -

Zach was great to work with as we planned our wedding and songs. We gave him a playlist as a guide for what we wanted and he organized and timed the music perfectly while taking some creative liberties of his own – he made our night and everyone had a blast. He brings good energy and was a natural at emceeing without being overbearing and kept the night moving at a nice pace. I don't plan to have another wedding, as I am happily married now, but if I did, I'd hire Zach again. Highly recommend. -

We found Zach thru our wedding planner and I’m very glad we did. He was responsive from the day we signed the contract to the day of the wedding. I’ve had the privilege to go to many weddings and have seen how the DJ can either ruin the vibe or make it the best time. My fiancé and I obviously wanted the perfect wedding especially since we had 80 of our closest friends and family traveling to Costa Rica. We spoke with Zach and I explained the vision and type of music we wanted. We created playlists and wrote down songs that we wanted to hear. Zach played them all at the perfect time. I even had friends come tell me the day after the wedding that the second they walked into our venue and heard the music playing, they new it was going to be a night to remember. The variety of music was fantastic and everyone danced all the way till the lights came on. I can’t recommend DJ Guana enough! -

I can’t say enough good things about our DJ Zach for our wedding on 2/25/2023 at the Westin Reserva Conchal in Costa Rica. We had a long lead up to our wedding and he was always super quick to respond and friendly.
He asked thoughtful questions about what songs we would like played, what songs we didn’t want played and totally read the crowd vibe to keep everyone dancing all night long.
I wish I could go back to that night and party all over again - but I would highly recommend Zach for your next wedding or event - you will not be disappointed and have a FUN TIME!

Dreams las mareas wedding with dj Zach
We had our dream wedding on January 22 this year. Dj Zach was great from the moment we contacted him to book. Very responsive to all our emails. Worked with us for our song list. Kept our guest dancing all night. He was also our MC and kept on schedule for the whole evening. He checked up on us throughout the night. I would highly recommend Zach, was a pleasure to have him as our DJ. -
