    Family Beach Photos

We had ONE small window for an opportunity to make a special memory for my parents. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, my entire family; sisters, parents, and ALL grandchildren were able to be together and we took advantage of it. I called Pam and knew instantly after reviewing her website and then speaking to her live, that she was our person. The small window we would all be together during the vacation was calling for clouds and rain. Pam proactively reached out to communicate alternative plans. Very pleasant and easy to work with including the dynamic of twenty people, five separate families. We received our photos as promised a week after they were taken. EVERYONE is happy with the pictures. That's no small task if you know my family. We would all like to show our appreciation in this one review which doesn't even feel like enough.

Thank you again Pam for sharing your talent and marking such a special time for us.

    Respectfully,

    Dana

She did a really good job on the pictures, but I would have liked a few more natural looking shots and not so posed. Otherwise, she was fantastic!

We were extremely pleased with Cooper Photography for our wedding. Our photos are beautiful and Pam did a wonderful job catching the sunset for our bride and groom portraits. The cost of the wedding photography was well worth it as some of my friends who tried to have family do it were very sorry. We give Pam 5 stars all the way.

Pam is an incredibly nice person, which made it very easy to work with her. Although she asked me to write a review soon after the wedding, I waited months until we received our final wedding album, so that I could write about my overall experience. I also hesitated to write a review earlier, because as nice a person she is, she is the only vendor that I had for whom I cannot write a glowing review. As a reference, I am a pretty relaxed bride.

I was impressed by Pam's photos on her website and studio and quickly booked her for our wedding. However, our wedding photos do not look similar to those photos. We had several nice shots, but many of our photos in our album do not look retouched. There are few special effects (e.g. blurring of background, black and white, interesting angles) used, which can make a professional wedding photo pop compared to the everday photo. She also a missed details in the wedding, like photographing the program/menu cards, the wedding shoes, and more of the mother-groom dance. I had eight other friends get married this year (all using different photographers), and when I look at their photos to make sure I am not overreacting, I definitely can see a difference. My husband, who could care less about most of the wedding details, actually asked me if we should bring the proofs to another photographer to touch up.

My photos seem so different, that the only way I can reconcile things in my head is to assume Pam had a very "off" day the day she covered our wedding. For example, Pam actually forgot to do bridal shots the day of our wedding! With the rush of getting ready for my big day, I did not notice this either until we got our proofs. Pam was very professional in scheduling me to come into the studio several weeks later to shoot these photos and covered the cost of having my hair and makeup done for the reshoot. When we received our final album, she also forgot to order the parents' albums that we had ordered. She is pleasantly forgetful but made every effort to correct these problems.

The final album is nice. I don't love it, but it is nicely done. She is great at designing layouts and the quality of the albums she uses is top notch. She also has good turnaround time, as the album was done 5 months after our wedding.

I have learned some lessons about wedding photography. #1: All of your photos will not look like the ones posted on a photographer's webiste, since those are only their best photos. Be careful! #2: Going with the most expensive vendor does not necessarily mean you will get the best vendor. Be picky!

I am so embarrassed having to write a negative review, but I feel like I have to share this information because all brides want beautiful photos. Pam is very nice and can take wonderful photos, but maybe not consistently so. She is so nice, I just don't have the heart to tell her how we feel. If we had the chance to do it over, we would consider using another photographer. We were disappointed in our experience, but wish the next bride the most beautiful photos ever!

    Cooper Photography's reply:

Everyone here at Cooper Photography is very disappointed at this review. If I may respond, I will say timing is very important in wedding photography. The bride used the scheduled time for her portraits with the hair and make up person. When we proceeded to the lobby and reception area, I was requested to do other types of family photography which were secondary to the bridal portrait, and this was 25 minutes before the wedding. All photography times and groups are preplanned and approved by every bride. The most important bridal portrait was not forgotten at this time.

This wedding was scheduled for a beach ceremony at mid-day during The Busiest weekend, Spring Break in Daytona Beach, Fl. All effort was made to be creative considering the circumstances. All images used in the album were retouched, proofs are not. The bride and groom have beautiful young skin, they were lightly retouched, parents and others were heavily retouched. All images used in the album had as many as 20 people removed from the beach background so it looked like the ceremony was on beautiful pristine beach. The bride must have missed the photo of the wedding program taken on the display table. I did not photograph the shoes, but many shots were taken of the rings in the flowers, dress and details, plus getting ready shots.

Creatively speaking, the only lack I can think of would be the beach, which is a wide open space with nothing to use as 'areas', so we photographed the groom lifting the bride in the air and swinging her around, walking down the beach and other styles along with traditional posing.

The parents album order was not ordered at the same time but delivered one week later. Yes, we missed ordering them. The wedding album was designed, and went through 2 months worth of revisions before finalized. Everyone thought the bride did a wonderful job of creating a unique ambience for the reception, and the photography was creative and reflected this. We had considered using it for a sample studio album it got such great reviews.

It is my great disappointment the bride does not feel she received her value for her money. Regarding comparing images on websites, each wedding and couple are unique. If a certain style is wanted, opportunity must be made for this to happen, and it is a shared responsibility between vendor and client.

We had our engagement shoot done with Pam. She did a decent job with the posing and such, but there were certainly some things (editing) that could be improved. It seemed a bit pricey overall.

    Cooper Photography's reply:

Unfortunately this is the result of giving all the images in the lightly edited stage plus retouched ones as ordered in package. Professional photographers can not build in editing, retouching and artwork for every single image at an affordable price. I may also mention this Beach Session was a week after Hurricane Mathew, and on a very windy day with rain looming. I am very sorry the client does not feel they received a value for price paid.
