Cape May Charm

Catherine helped us have the wedding of our dreams on September 23rd! We did not hire a separate day-of coordinator, which I do not regret - Catherine helped coordinate our rehearsal, set up any decor or things we brought the day of the wedding, as well as packing it all up at the end of the night and making sure all of our items were returned to us. Unfortunately a tropical storm with high winds hit the day of our wedding, and Congress Hall seamlessly pivoted to institute a plan - they even closed the Boiler Room to allow us to have our cocktail hour there while they turned over the Ballroom from the ceremony to the reception. They allowed my bridesmaids and I get ready in the Harrison Room, which was perfect for our larger size party. Our guests could also not stop raving about the food. One correction I do have though is the website says the ballroom fits up to 250 which is not true - with a dance floor, under 200 fits more comfortably (we were worried we'd have close to 220 and this was going to be a difficult squeeze). Overall we were thrilled with our special day turned out, and so happy we could share the charm of Congress Hall and Cape May with our family and friends. We can't wait to return to celebrate our 1 year anniversary and for years to come.

Perfect Rehearsal Dinner/Welcome Drinks Location!

The Harrison Room at Congress Hall was the perfect venue for our rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks the Night before our Wedding on September 15, 2022! It was the best place to kick off an amazing weekend in Cape May! All guests enjoyed experiencing a piece of Cape May history and loved the beauty and history of Congress Hall. Madeline was extremely helpful and flexible with planning and coordinating the entire evening, even providing wristbands for the welcome drinks to make the evening go seamlessly. Following an intimate, delicious Mediterranean buffet rehearsal dinner, we had all our friends and family enjoy welcome drinks outside at the Veranda Bar. The evening was perfect in every way. We were especially lucky with gorgeous weather. We highly recommend booking the Harrison Room to kick off a wedding weekend in Cape May!

Perfection!!

Congress Hall was my dream wedding destination! The beauty of the building itself, the decor, the history! My expectations were far exceeded! Erin is absolutely amazing to work with! She made our day absolutely perfect! We had our rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception and morning after breakfast all at Congress Hall. The food was DELICIOUS!!! Our guests are still commenting on how delicious the food was! The service was incredible! We transitioned from the Grand Ballroom to the Harrison Room and back and it went flawlessly. The staff was professional and accommodating. Many of our guests stayed at both Congress Hall and The Star Inn and expressed how wonderful their rooms were. We had a room with an Ocean View that was pure magic! Erin took care of everything! We showed up on Friday for the rehearsal and didn't have to worry about a thing the whole weekend! It was the most perfect weekend!! Thank you to Erin, Jenn, and the Congress Hall staff for making my dream wedding wishes come true!!

Special Seaside Venue!

From the day we were engaged, we knew Congress Hall was our wedding venue. Both my husband and I spent our summers vacationing in Cape May with many memories surrounding the seaside resort and now we have one for the books! Our wedding day was everything we dreamed of and more thanks to our wedding coordinator Jeri Anne. She was highly professional, organized and patient... at times, we had some fairly atypical requests that were always accommodated! There were a few hiccups the day of but nothing that hindered our overall experience.
We were appreciative of the preferred vendor list that they provided upon booking and ended up using several of the vendors on the list. Our guests were impressed by all that Congress Hall had to offer, especially the food and the gorgeous grounds-- they are still commenting on what a lovely event it was!

a gorgeously, unique venue

5 Stars all the way around!! My husband and I got married in November at Congress Hall, and we could not have asked for a better venue to host our wedding day! From the booking with Krystina, to the planning with Jeri Anne, and then the actual wedding day with the whole CH Team, Congress Hall was absolutely accommodating and just spectacular! Jeri Anne was the absolute best to work with! She made sure everything was perfect. I did not have to worry about a thing; every detail was executed to my expectation. The service was impeccable and flawless! Our guests raved about the venue and are still raving about it today. Congress Hall is a gorgeously, unique venue in a quaint historical town. Thank you so much for a perfect, magical day that we will always remember!

You can not go wrong with Congress Hall. They are the best of the best!!!! Jenn was fantastic (Give that woman a raise she had to deal with my crazy family). Well worth the money, I have been told so many times we had the best wedding ever, and that the service was amazing. They gave great vendor recommendations. Food was ON POINT!!!

Our wedding at Congress Hall was absolutely flawless and I loved every detail. Hands down the best wedding venue in Southern NJ (and beyond in my opinion). The aesthetics paired with history of Congress Hall are wonderful, the food was delicious and our guests raved about how impressed they were with our wedding and how much fun they had. A special thanks to Jeri Anne, our wedding coordinator who is beyond amazing! I loved my correspondence leading up to the wedding with Jeri Anne who was so organized and enthusiastic. She helped to make things so easy and was so accommodating especially as I planned from out of town. On the weekend of the wedding, she impressed us even more with her eye for detail, proactivity and kindness. She truly is a gem who we felt lucky to work with! We can't wait to come back for our anniversary!

Such a beautiful place inside and out. The staff was amazing and so helpful. It was raining in the morning so we decided to move cocktail underneath the overhang where the rocking chairs even though it had stopped raining (did not want everyone having to walk on wet grass) and I have to say I actually like it better because we were not in direct sun (we got married in June). Amazing place - you can't go wrong with Congress Hall!

I cannot even begin to explain how amazing our wedding at Congress Hall was! The best part about it was how easy everything was. Our wedding coordinator Jeri Anne was the absolute best. She was so amazing about helping by reaching out to vendors, answering my questions, and setting everything up. There were actually times where I was wondering if i was missing something or if there was something I forgot because I felt like things seemed way too easy. Congress Hall was better then I could have ever imagined and they make it such a stress free experience. They literally provide you with a packet of everything you need to pick out, charts for seating and even give you lists of great vendors. We also had our rehearsal dinner at the rusty nail which is owned by congress hall so we did not have to pay a site fee as a result. Being from North Jersey and comparing the prices of the venues there to the price of congress hall (during peak season) was very reasonable and you really pay for what you get. The food was amazing and you get to pick from some really great options! The cocktail hour out on the veranda is so great and even though it rained on our wedding day we were still able to have it outside. All my guests rave about how beautiful the room was and we were able to fit all 190 of our guests in there comfortably. The tiffany blue walls looked so beautiful in all the pictures and even the pictures we got throughout congress hall and outside are amazing. They also provide the cake which was delicious and very pretty! I highly recommend the cannoli cake many guests told me it was the best wedding cake they had :) I really cannot recommend getting married at congress hall enough and make sure you request Jeri Anne she is beyond helpful and responsive!

Congress Hall was absolutely AMAZING and all of our guests can not stop gushing to us about how much they loved our wedding. First off, our coordinator Jenn O'Neill was fabulous! She (and Krystina Kennedy) always answered my numerous e-mails promptly and if they couldn't answer a question, they found someone who could. I can not thank them enough for making our wedding run absolutely without a hitch. Congress Hall is of course gorgeous, and we loved that we could have everything from our Rehearsal Dinner to Sunday Brunch all in the same place. The food was superb and if anyone went home hungry it was their own fault, because there was enough provided with even their base package to feed an army. We ended up having less people than their minimum, so Jenn and Krystina worked out some additions to our package to make up the difference, which made us feel like they weren't just in it for the money and they wanted us to have the best experience possible. Even though it was expensive, if I had to do it all over again I would still choose Congress Hall because they gave me the wedding day of my dreams!

Most amazing location for a wedding reception. After visiting CH years ago, we decided that when the time came to get married, we were having our reception there. Five years later, it was the only venue we looked at, and wouldn't trade that decision for any other venue! The location gives a feel of elegance, yet relaxing and fun. The staff is amazing and accommodating in every way possible. If you plan to have a wedding there, request Colleen. She is phenomenal!!!! We rented the white cottage which is affiliated with cape resorts, and had our entire wedding party stay in it for an extended weekend. Of our 200 guests, 90% made an extended weekend vacation of it. Cape May is the perfect beach town, and CH is a landmark. Our guests have not stopped talking about how amazing the wedding was-months later. It far exceeded our dreams!!!!

Long before my husband and I got engaged, we knew we wanted to get married at Congress Hall. For something that we built up for so long, the experience did not disappoint. From our first meeting, Congress Hall gave us the special attention we were hoping for on our most special day yet. Our coordinator, Colleen O’Sullivan, couldn’t have been more helpful, responsive, professional, patient and organized. She. Is. Amazing. Compliments are still rolling in about the food, the service and how seamless the event was–Colleen and our DJ (LovesickInc) completely guided the reception timeline. They made sure everything flowed and that we and the guests had the best time possible. When we got back to our room that evening there were some wonderful care packages of cake, sliders from our delicious late night slider bar, and a sampling of our wedding flowers. Colleen is a bride whisperer. She has a way of making things that would wake me up at night suddenly seem like no big deal once I brought them to her attention. She seamlessly coordinated with my 10+ vendors. Colleen didn’t flinch when we showed up with a truck full of décor the day before the wedding – and it was all displayed to PERFECTION. It was like a dream – the Lawn is an idyllic backdrop for a wedding. Founder’s Hall, the veranda and the charmingly beautiful ballroom are all a picture perfect combination of grandiosity, nature and whimsy-–Tiffany blue walls, yellow backdrops, saltwater air and the greenest grass you’ve ever seen! The best part? I never worried about ANY of the details on my wedding day because I knew that Colleen, Krystina and Jen had it all under control. I had the best time getting ready in Founder’s Hall with my bridesmaids and family while they pulled everything together. It truly was a stress-free wedding day and that’s a testament to Colleen and the Congress Hall staff. It was the best day ever and we are forever grateful to Colleen and the Congress Hall team for making our dream a reality.

This place was just amazing. Meredith was wonderful to work with, and she set up the perfect room for an intimate reception. Food and service were top-notch, and the pictures we had taken here were just stunning. Thank you guys for everything. We would do it all over again in a heartbeat.

Congress Hall provided a perfect setting for our beach wedding! Danielle was the coordinator for our event and we didn't have to worry about a single thing. She was professional, organized and a pleasure to work with. The grounds of Congress Hall provided a beautiful natural backdrop for our pictures and the reception space is unique in its own with its tiffany blue walls and checkered floors. It was truly the best day of our lives and Congress Hall will always have a special place in our hearts!

I was married at Congress Hall on October 10, 2014. This place is nothing short of amazing! My husband and I had no idea where we wanted our wedding reception to be, but we did know that we did not want your "typical venue". My husband found Congress Hall online and suggested that we check it out. We fell in love with Congress Hall immediately and brought my parents back later that day, because we knew that nothing was going to even come close. Once the wedding was booked, we worked with Meredith and Krystina. I can't even begin to thank them both enough for all that they did to make our day perfect. Krystina is so professional and such a sweet heart at the same time. She did everything in her power to make sure that my day was everything I wanted it to be. She went above and beyond what you can imagine to make sure that my husband and I were having the day we dreamed of before, during, and after the wedding. Thank you Krystina! Congress Hall is the perfect place for a wedding! My husband and I stayed the entire weekend and put the honeymoon off until next month. We can't get enough of this hotel and we will be back for anniversaries to come! I think that everyone should see this place before they choose their venue, pictures do not even do it justice. Thank you Congress Hall, we can't wait to come back!

We had our wedding at Congress Hall last summer and can't recommend it enough. Our outdoor shots on the veranda's rocking chairs were beautiful, the hall itself was gorgeous, and the downstairs bar was a great change of pace for our cocktail hour. We recommend to anyone looking to do a beach wedding the right way!

Congress Hall and all if the employees there made out wedding day amazing. From them accommodating my needs for a wedding in shorter notice than usual,since my original venue was ruined from Superstorm Sandy, to cleaning up all of our belongings from the reception and delivering them to our room. I would recommend Congress Hall as a wedding venue to every bride because of the beauty if the building and the professionalism of everyone we encountered there.

Our wedding was so lovely and I am thankful to the staff at Congress Hall for their professionalism. It was stress free and I did not have to worry about a thing. Daniella was our wedding coordinator and she was the best!
I highly recommend using Congress Hall if you're getting married in the Cape May area. It's a unique space, and the food and service was wonderful!

Congress Hall is such a beautiful venue and so convenient to have the ceremony on site, the reception in the ballroom and a lounge downstairs to continue the party! They were so professional and easy to work with. Daniella, the venue coordinator was amazing! You could tell she has done this so many times- she made everything go so smoothly and was always available leading up to the wedding to meet or to ask questions. She was VERY helpful. We loved our venue and can't wait to go back to visit!

From the rehearsal dinner to the brunch the next day, Congress Hall was fantastic. My wife recommends getting the bridal room the day off. Daniella was an amazing help. The food is 5 star by wedding standards. For hor'dorvs I recommend the French onion bowls

Congress Hall was absolutely the perfect place to get married. This goes without saying, but the location is gorgeous. The building is very well maintained and just beautiful. Every single time I step into the ballroom I'm still struck by how lovely it is. The rooms are also very cute and very well decorated. (I highly recommend some of their sister properties and cottages for guests to stay at as well -- lovely Victorian style homes with beautiful interiors. We rented two of their cottages for our families and friends to stay.) Krista is super friendly, and Daniella had everything totally under control the day of the wedding. I really had nothing to worry about with her taking care of the details. I was impressed by how much time she spent with us both on Friday for the rehearsal and all day Saturday. Sunday morning we realized that all of our stuff was still kind of scattered around the hotel, but one phone call to the front desk and the staff rounded everything up and brought it all up to our room. We really lucked out with the weather, and the weekend could not have gone any better. Congress Hall set up the ceremony chairs on the beach, which was very pretty. The food was great and the drinks kept flowing!

During the planning process, both Krista and Daniella were very responsive to our barrage of emails. Daniella would be out of the office over the weekends because of events, which meant that it sometimes took a couple of days until she replied, but she had an out-of-office auto reply, so I always knew what was going on. They both worked with us when we changed the details of the day multiple times, and were very flexible with our requests for cocktail hour stations and dinner. I can't say enough good things about Congress Hall. I wish I could get married there over and over again! The only downside is that Congress Hall has to work within Cape May's stringent sound ordinance, which meant that party had to be over by 10PM. I only wish the night could have kept going!

I can't say enough great things about Congress Hall and their staff. From start to finish, they were responsive to all our specific requests. Their coordinator, Lindsey, was amazing and made sure there were absolutely no hiccups on the day of. Our guests are still raving about how fantastic our wedding was and I think, in large part, this is because of Congress Hall.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Congress Hall!! I would go back every single year if I could on our anniversary to try to capture the magic of that day. Congress Hall is completely professional, and very accommodating. We would looking for a venue that was not only classy, but also unique - not your plain boring reception hall. They have a very classic, yet almost vintage feel. The wait staff was very classy and the food was delicious. Everyone loved the meal and the service. And the wedding coordinator they provide you when you book the venue - priceless. She was AMAZING and really tried to accommodate all of our requests. We had a very personal touches and she made sure they all came to fruition and were perfect. All of our guests, even still, comment on how our wedding "Rocked".

Congress is such a beautiful and unique venue. The grand ballroom where the reception takes place is so cool - tiffany blue walls and a black and white checkered floors.

My husband and I worked with Colleen O'Sullivan, and she was fantastic in every way. She and I communicated through email, and she was always thorough and prompt when responding to all emails. She was specific and communicative about necessary deadlines, without being pushy. For the rehearsal and wedding, she was enthusiastic, professional and kept everything running like well oiled machine. She was so warm and friendly, that I felt like I had hired a friend to take care of everything for me. If you are getting married at Congress Hall, definitely ask for her.

The food was delicious and they have a good selection of wine and alcohol. The kitchen was able to accommodate our vegetarian and vegan requests (they were also delicious!). The service was great!

Expensive, however I did not have to worry about anything the day of my wedding. I was calm and Colleen the wedding coordinator was phenomenal. The food was delicious and our guests were very impressed. The whole planning process was a breeze;the wedding team was great. Great venue, unique location and awesome food. I am so happy my husband and I can go back whenever we'd like to remember our special day.

Congress Hall is the most perfect place in the world to have a wedding!!!! As soon as we walked in the door we were sold! The building and lawn are gorgeous and all of the updated historical details make it so unique looking. We found so many amazing places to take interesting pictures! Krista who works with you in the beginning on the business details and Daniella who helps you plan and facilitate all of the details for the day of are both so friendly and helpful. Daniella made sure everything ran smoothly so I didn't have to think about it on our day. The food was all delicious and the servers were friendly and helpful. Everyone kept telling us how beautiful the wedding was and how much they enjoyed the food and all of the details. You will not regret getting married here

Congress Hall was amazing. Besides being a gorgeous location, Krista and Daniella were incredibly professional and made sure that every detail was taken care of for my wedding. Everyone was incredibly responsive and there to make sure our every need was taken care of. They were wonderful throughout the whole process.
The food was outstanding! We have gotten so many rave reviews from our guests - especially for the mashed potato bar!
Although Congress Hall may be a little more expensive for a venue than what many brides are looking for, they certainly were worth the money for the excellent service and the peace of mind we had knowing that our event was going to be perfect.

We were so pleased with everything at Congress Hall. The venue is such a beautiful, unique space. The food was delicious. The service was outstanding. It was pricey to hold our wedding there during the summer, but we loved the beach feel of that time of year. The planners at Congress Hall were excellent. They were extremely professional and attentive. Our guests had a great time in Cape May!

We were recently married at Congress Hall. The first time I went to Congress Hall and saw a wedding there, I absolutely fell in love. The venue is just absolutely perfect. The colors, the history, the decor, it's all just stunning. So, when after looking at a zillion venues, I finally settled on Congress Hall, it was no surprise. It just felt right.

Our wedding was absolutely magnificent. We had a beautiful day thank goodness. Everything was set up exactly the way I envisioned it to look and everything went so smoothly. We were married outside on the lawn and had our cocktail hour on the veranda. Everything was beautiful, meticulous and every detail was worked out. The reception was also fantastic. The tables were all set to perfection and no detail was overlooked. My guests raved about the venue and the food. Everything was just perfect. After the wedding ended, we all headed down to the Boiler Room where the party continued.

A lot, I have to say had to do with the two wonderful women that I worked with at Congress Hall. First, our wedding coordinator Colleen O'Sullivan was AMAZING. She is warm, caring and very professional. She made me feel at ease and as though everything was SO well taken care of. She was so easy to talk and plan with and I am so happy she was my wedding coordinator.

The other person is Meredith Borrell who was also fantastic. Anytime Colleen was somewhere else, Meredith was right there with me as well. There was never a minute I felt abandoned or neglected. Literally, every detail was clearly explained to myself, my husband, and our wedding party. I have NEVER been to a wedding where this was the case and am happy to say it was my wedding where the venue finally got it right. I cannot say enough about these two wonderful women. They made my wedding day my absolute dream day.

Congress Hall is just the perfect venue for a romantic weekend. Your guests will LOVE it and absolutely rave about every part of your wedding weekend.

Congress Hall provided the perfect setting for our dream wedding! Gorgeous grounds, indoor and out, required very little additional decoration. We seriously felt like movie stars from another era! It was the first and last place we looked. Our guests have provided nothing but great feedback about the food, service, location and accommodations.

Also important to note - Daniella, the day-of coordinator, was a life saver! She was extremely professional and made everything run like clockwork. Krista, the sales manager, was also helpful and great to work with.

The only thing I'd say needs improvement is their vendor list. It was somewhat limited and I didn't have a good experience with a few of the vendors, particularly the florists.

Congress Hall is an amazing place to visit and an amazing place to host a wedding reception. The staff is flexible, responsive, professional, and very communicative. The venue is beautiful and classic, the food was great (including the cake!), and the service was excellent. The price is a bit high, but completely worth the expense.

The flexibility rating only reflects the fact that Congress Hall does have minimum guest requirements and specific time frames for the reception (although that worked fine). When we had fewer guests than initially expected, Daniella, the event coordinator, was great about working with us.

Also of note, the staff at Congress Hall is extremely helpful with set-up and clean-up. I dropped everything off the morning of the wedding and it was all taken care of by Daniella and her staff.

My wedding at Congress Hall was a fairytale! The wedding coordinator was fantastic. She was always available to answer any questions. She was very flexible in her meeting times. She had a wonder worksheet that we completed together that contained all the details. The wedding went very smoothly without any issues. Our ceremony was on the beach, and she made sure everything was set up and people were in their proper places. All the staff at Congress Hall are very friendly and professional. The service is fantastic and the food excellent. The cake was beautiful and very delicious. Kudos to the chefs! The building and the grounds are beautiful. It's a perfect place for pictures. I would highly recommend Congress Hall!

The staff here was more than willing to help with the planning, set-up and anything else we requested. Although the cost is a bit high, being that this is the premier venue in Cape May to get married/have a reception at, the cost was more than worth it. Everything was beautifully set-up, the food was A+++ and the venue itself was grand and gorgeous, with the ocean right across the way. Our guests gave us so many compliments on the ceremony and the reception; we would recommend this business to anyone planning to get married in Cape May, NJ.

We had our 5/29/11 ceremony and reception. Overall, a wonderful location. Very unique and old world seaside charm. I didn't want a token wedding "hall" and this definitely was not that. Very beautiful grounds and great service. We had our ceremony on the lawn--much better than beach b/c of wind. The reception room is just gorgeous--Tiffany blue walls, black and white floors, chandeliers. Amazing! The rooms are fab too. Cape May is a great location!

We had our reception at Congress Hall and it was wonderful! It is a spectacular venue and our guests are still raving about it. The food is very good and we were pleased with the way everything worked out. Our coordinators were great and responded quickly to any requests, it was great to know we were in good hands and did not have to worry about anything. It is a very special place and the perfect atmosphere for a wedding reception.

Our winter wedding at Congress Hall was absolutely beautiful. Daniella and Krista were AMAZING to work with! CH was so stunning and decorated so nicely for Christmas...our guests still talk about our wedding months later. The food was over the top delicious and our cocktail hour was to die for! We had an acoustic guitar player, John Valerio and a cigar attendant, Chris from Up in Smoke. Our hotel rooms were so clean and quaint. We had a WONDERFUL wedding at Congress Hall and look forward to visiting again! Thank you again!

My only complaint is Congress Hall doesn't allow a time gap in between the ceremony and cocktail hour which would of been great to do our pictures. That's the only reason why I rated flexibility 3 out of 5 stars. We were really disappointed we couldn't have a lapse of time to do pictures. But besides that, everything was perfect.

Congress Hall is a beautiful venue. This hotel, built in the early 1800's, is extremely historic site, and has retained its charm. The ballroom is extremely unique with original black & white checkerboard wood floors and tiffany blue walls... no cookie cutter ballroom here!
Due to weather we had to have everything inside (and the cocktail hour in the downstairs club, the Boiler Room). Though this was the Plan B, it all worked out wonderfully and still provided an amazing night. Our original plan was to have the ceremony and cocktail hour outdoors under the veranda - it would have been beautiful.
They were amazing to work with, the food was excellent, the cake gorgeous, and the entire event was seamless. Lindsey, our wedding coordinator, truly ran the whole day & night for us so that we could just relax and enjoy ourselves... I don't think I've ever danced so much!
I wish we could do it all again! It was truly a perfect evening.

Our experience with Congress Hall was AWESOME. We absolutely loved the venue and although it was pricey, it was worth every penny.
We gave the pastry chef a photo of an idea for a wedding cake and they did a beautiful job interpreting the image for our own personalized cake. The food was spectacular as we had expected (if you have eaten at the Blue Pig you know what great food you will be getting). They were flexible and helpful with our personalized accents for the wedding (fresh cut lavender in the champagne glasses, arranging the centerpieces since we did them ourselves and there was no florist, allowing my husband to open the champagne bottle with a sword...) One of the bonuses of having you reception at Congress Hall is working with Danielle, she's a lifesaver and so calm! It like having a wedding planner without the pricetag! Aside from the character of the room which i feel most venues lack, the best thing about having a reception at Congress Hall is the ability to go back and spend the night, eat or just visit!

I think the only issue we had was that prior to the wedding I specifically asked that there be no tip jar on the bars (because it's tacky and gratuity was already included in our fees) however the jars appeared on the bars part way through the reception. grrr. But that was the worst of it!

This venue is both amazing and gorgeous. The whole place gives off such personality that we fell in love with it the second we set foot on the property!
The gardens are beautiful, the ball room is fantastic and the food is delicious!
We had some minor communication issues a few months before the wedding due to some staff changes, but everything worked out beautifully in the end. The wedding went without any issues, and we couldn't be happier.
Open bar, amazing cake, incredible food!

Congress Hall is an unbelievably gorgeous venue. Definitely has the best views and prettiest venue in Cape May. From the cocktail hour on the veranda to dinner and dancing the the ballroom, it's all so perfect. The food is not the best, which is what you expect from a wedding, but at around $200 a plate after taxes and tips, I'd expect the food to be a little better... The cake that CH does, was amazing though! CH is flexible with moving tables and bars around to be where you want for the cocktail hour. We had 180 people, and if it rained it would have been very tight under the veranda for the cocktail hour. Luckily, it didn't and we used some of the amazing lawn and had plenty of room. My biggest problem day-of was that there were some random kids running around on the lawn, darting between guests. They cannot make the cocktail hour completely private, so that's definitely a downfall. They block it off slightly, but not fully, but our day of coordinator did not do a great job of keeping strangers away. At one point, ANOTHER BRIDE walked through our cocktail hour. That was totally uncalled for.
Our day of coordinator also didn't show up the day of until around 1230/1pm and we had been there since 8am. I am not sure if this is usual, so definitely make sure you are clear on this. We needed her (or anyone) for some parking problems my photographer had and no one was there to help.
Everything else as far as set-up and timing went very smoothly.

Dream wedding to nightmare

We had the unfortunate timing of booking our wedding in Feb. 2020, right before COVID hit. Congress Hall was the venue of our dreams and we were so excited to get married there in April 2021. Everything after signing our initial contract was a nightmare.

As months went on, we heard nothing from Congress Hall until October saying we needed to come in sometime in the next three weeks for a tasting. We are coming from out of state, so we did not appreciate having to coordinate a trip during the pandemic in less than a month's notice. We expected some sort of communication from Congress Hall regarding their wedding operations during the pandemic, but never heard from them once in that regard.

At our tasting, we expressed our desire to push our wedding back to April 2022 and the staff was more than happy to make that change. They assured us that a contract would come soon, by the New Year at the latest, reflecting our new date in 2022. After countless unanswered emails and phone calls, we were three months into 2021 without a new contract and thus still on the hook for our April 2021 wedding. The staff frequently had six week out-of-office emails and never answered calls. We guessed they were furloughed and felt bad, but this was still unacceptable knowing that they had already received most of our payment.

At that point we demanded to speak to management to either get our contract updated immediately or to pursue avenues to get out of it. We were informed that our contract had not been updated because ownership wanted to completely reimagine 2022 wedding packages (ie: raise the prices for a full hotel book-out, as well as requiring both an onsite rehearsal dinner and Sunday brunch). We can understand that vision, but we did not sign up for that and asked them to honor our existing contract for April 2022. Ownership would not approve that in a timely manner, so we thankfully were allowed to get out of the contract and offered a full refund. We must thank Cindy who helped us through this final stage. She was extremely professional and diligent in her follow up throughout our interaction.

We recognize how lucky we are to receive a full refund while so many other couples are losing money on their weddings. With that said, we felt it was important to share our experience with Congress Hall for engaged couples considering the venue.
