We had the best experience with George. He did a fabulous job tailoring our wedding reception to our needs, and even was able to help coordinate a surprise for our guests. We also had uplighting which was a great touch. Everyone was on the dancefloor all night and had the best time. We are so grateful for the work he did and the service he provided. Highly recommended!

Kyle is great!
Not only is Kyle a great dj that kept the party going until the very end, but he also goes up and beyond for his clients. We had a couple issues with our venue, but he picked up where the venue missed up. Help the groom with the arch and decorations, guided guest where to go. He did so much more than he needed to, and we'll be forever grateful. The guests had so much fun and was on the dance floor from start to the very end. The Photo Booth was also a huge hit with our guests. Would highly recommend them!

Dance the night away
George brought the energy, the smooth transitions, and an incredible ability to read our crowd. His responsiveness ahead of time (song lists, timelines, requests) was outstanding. When our schedule bumped around due to weather, George pivoted effortlessly — he kept guests engaged, dancing, and smiling the whole night. The sound was crystal clear, the mix was perfect, and the atmosphere never lagged. We got compliments from so many guests: best DJ they’d seen at a wedding. Additionally, we had no idea what "uplighting" was going into planning and didn't know whether or not we wanted to pay a little more for it. In the end, it made such an incredible difference we can't believe we questioned it at first! Overall, five stars for George Wainwright and Coastal DJ & Video doesn’t feel enough!

We hired Coastal DJ to DJ our wedding at the Inn on Pamlico Sound in Buxton :) We had George and he was fantastic! The communication was quick, easy and organized with George. He got people to the dance floor and was able to take some videos of us dancing that my family still re-watches and laughs about. Best night ever!!!
George was great! We had our wedding at Pirates Cove in Manteo and it was beautiful. The DJ was very pleasant to communicate with and made our reception run great. The only thing that didn't work properly were the microphones that our officiants used. We paid extra for this and since they didn't work, George gave us a refund after the wedding. I highly recommend!!

DJ George is absolutely incredible! From start to finish, he had the dance floor packed and the energy sky high. Everyone at our wedding was raving about how amazing the music was — people are still talking about it! He knew exactly how to match the Jersey energy and keep the vibe going all night long. George did a great job with our wedding back in April! He was readily available, by far the fastest out of all our vendors. He added in a last minute request to dedicate a song to my mom, which was such a special time for us to cherish forever. He nailed timing of all our ceremony songs perfectly! I highly recommend adding on the uplighting package through their team if you’re putting up a tent for your wedding, it was such a great detail that really enhanced the reception and such a cool look in our photos.

George was great! Worked with us to get the ceremony music I wanted ( it was not an ordinary request) and helped us navigate the Playlist, was so attentive with any question we had, talked with us at length about the guests, vibes, music etc. He was a great MC making announcements and introductions. Read the crowd so well, playing our requested music and taking requests from the guests. It was a small wedding yet we had at least someone on the floor all evening. Even broke out some surprise light sticks when the kids were having a dance off! They were amazing to work with from start to finish and went above and beyond, exceeding our expectations!

Coastal DJ did a great job at our wedding (Dec. '24) and we highly recommend them. We had a small wedding of approximately 60 people where the ceremony and reception was in the same room. They provided the mic for the officiant, ceremony music, music for the reception, and some dance floor lighting. We were able to choose from a wide variety of music that made our wedding so personal. All the music played was from our list and much of it was personal to us, a family or friend, or was dance songs we wanted. There was a "do not play" list as well that was much appreciated as we had guests there we were trying to be respectful to and there are some songs completely off limits. The DJs were a lot of fun and their attire even matched our wedding colors. We were doing all the wedding planning ourselves so the ease of choosing songs and the occasional email reminders of helpful information was also appreciated. Planning a wedding can be stressful, but they were not part of my stress by any means. Thank you Mr. Wainwright and your staff for making our day fun and memorable!

We hired Coastal DJ & Video for our wedding in Carolina Beach this October, and we couldn’t have been happier with the experience. From the start, speaking with the owner, George, made it clear we had made the right choice. The glowing reviews we had read were already convincing, but after talking to George, his professionalism and wealth of experience completely solidified our decision. He made us feel at ease right away.
Their online portal was a fantastic tool—it allowed us to customize our song lists and upload our wedding schedule, ensuring everything went off without a hitch. Our beachfront ceremony presented unique challenges, but the team handled it flawlessly. They set up on the beach for the ceremony and seamlessly transitioned to keep the vibes alive during the reception at the house we rented.
Our DJ, Karl, was absolutely amazing. He was incredibly helpful leading up to the wedding and truly shone on the big day. His MC skills were spot-on, keeping everything on track, and his energy and music choices had our guests dancing all night. The vibe he created was everything we hoped for and more.
Coastal DJ & Video made our lives so much easier on the biggest day of our lives, allowing us to stay present and soak in every moment. If you’re planning a wedding, I can’t recommend them enough—eight days a week! Thank you, George, Karl, and the entire team, for making our day so special.

Coastal DJ is more than your DJ for your event! They will send you emails reminding you of what you need / should do 90/ 60 / 30 days prior to the date of your wedding! As the MOB and planning my daughter’s wedding this was very helpful and kept me on track!
Our DJ Kyle provided us with wonderful music for my daughter’s wedding! He was on point with everything. Super nice, professional and he kept everyone dancing!

George. Some call him DJ but by the end of the night I called him friend. You are a kind soul, George, and you surpassed every expectation.
If you have a playlist, he’ll stick to it. If you don’t know what you want, he’ll read the room almost flawlessly and play what it needs. Dj West was the absolute best!!! All the guests were on the dance floor all night long. People I didn’t think would dance were dancing and I have Dj West to thank for that! Dance Floor was on Fire!
We booked Coastal DJ and Video as the DJ for our wedding after seeing George demonstrate his skills at the river room wedding event in January 2022. Although we were getting married in June 2023, we knew we wanted coastal Dj quickly after seeing the music keep the event alive and popping with energy, and the drop lights literally light up the room. We had a few phone calls with George prior to our wedding and felt we were well prepared for our day in terms of understanding the timeline, knowing what songs they needed our input on, and other details regarding the salsa (AKA photo) booth we booked. The day of arrived and George arrived with plenty of time, well before guests needed to arrive, to start setup for our outdoor ceremony. We flowed seamlessly from ceremony space, to our outdoor cocktail area, to inside for our reception. Some of our vendors commented they’ve never seen so many people on the dance floor and while our friends and family love to dance, I definitely attribute it to the great vibe George curated for the room! We would definitely recommend working with Coastal DJ!

Coastal Dj and video went way beyond my expectations . When I reached out about a dj , George responded very quickly and made me feel good about choosing them as my dj . Fast forward to a week before the wedding and we had one final call to go over everything . Never once did I feel concerned about the services or performance of the Dj. As soon as the dj started playing , no one left the dance floor . I cannot recommend this dj enough. From the modern look of the equipment to the professionalism of the Dj. Everything was PERFECT!

Guests Never Left the Dance Floor!
George and Coastal DJ is the best!! We had a long reception (7 hours total) and we wanted our guests to really have time dancing and having a good time, and George made it happen! We met with George the week leading up to the wedding and had everything planned out. The portal was easy to use and we were able to upload our own Spotify playlist for him to pick songs out of. He kept the party going and knew when to hype it up and die it down. He was a great emcee for the evening and was a great addition to our evening. If you are considering a DJ in the Outer Banks area, look no further and go with George!

Great DJ and photo booth in Wilmington
We worked with George and his team as the DJ and photo booth at our wedding at The River Room in downtown Wilmington on October 8, 2022. George was so helpful throughout the whole process, the online portal and reminder emails made the process very simple and easy to follow from start to finish. We LOVED our DJ, Joshua, who did an amazing job blending our own musical styles with what the crowd wanted, keeping people on the dance floor all night. He was so kind and fun and we'd absolutely recommend him and the Coastal DJ team for any event. Upgrade to the modern white DJ table... it's worth it and makes the whole room look more upscale!

George was wonderful to work with and went above and beyond to make our day so special. He is very professional and enjoyable tk work with. We met several times before the wedding to discuss songs, timing, vision, etc. This reassured me we were in great hands. Loved his song platform - we were able to submit our “must play,” “would like to play,” and “do not play” songs. He has lots of great enhancements that wowed us & our guests - C02 gun, bride cam, cold sparks, and videography services! 10/10 recommend. Beautiful ceremony with an awesome party!
We had Josh from Coastal DJ, and he was great! I had some very specific requests and he stuck to them, but I had him play around with cocktail hour and dinner music and it ended up perfect. He followed our timeline perfectly and smoothly and I couldn’t imagine a better night!

Extremely Pleased with our Decision
We were very happy with this company my husband and I used for our wedding! They are very detailed oriented. We had a client portal where we added some of the 'must play' and 'special' songs. In the portal there is a form we filled out with all the times and details of events. Our DJ was George. He was very nice and cheerful. He called a few days before to review everything. On our wedding day he showed up early to set up. Everything went seamlessly! My husband and I received many, many compliments about how much fun our reception was! Those compliments were 100% due to Costal DJ and video. Our family and friends danced all night! I HIGHLY recommend!

Joel did a great job as our DJ! He was very kind and professional. We had a last minute switch in DJs due to unforeseen circumstances, which was a bit stressful to say the least. However, George found us Joel and we couldn't have been happier. We also got the photobooth and that was a blast for the guests. We now have a little book with all the photos, and we have the digital photos from that as well. Thanks again Joel!

George and his team went out of his way to ensure we had an amazing wedding day! From the beginning, George was extremely informative and provided up front information about everything we needed for our wedding. Coastal DJ is the way to go! George was our DJ and he did not disappoint, he was so easy to work with and always on point. He kept the dancing going all night. The online planning portal made the process a breeze. We had so much fun at our wedding, the energy and the dance floor was always packed just how we visioned our wedding day being. We used Coastal DJ and Video for our wedding ceremony and reception on Saturday, October 9th, 2021. We also booked the Curve Photobooth for our reception.
George and the Coastal DJ and Video staff went above and beyond to make our Wedding day spectacular. Our ceremony was planned to be on the beach, but the weather wasn't really cooperating for this. The decision was made, based on the weather radar, to move the ceremony up in time by 15 minutes because there was a break in the expected rain/storming. 15 might not seem like a lot of time, but in the Event-planning world, that is equivalent to a millisecond and can make or break a start time based on preparedness. George was more than willing to adjust the time frame for set up, and when the window of stormy weather changed, he was super flexible at moving and setting everything inside. Because the weather determined a lot of our timeline for pictures and what not into our ceremony/reception, George really went with the flow and made our night full of music and memories that will last forever for us. Backyard Wedding OBX
Amazing experience, our DJ was DJ James. James connected with us ahead of the wedding and went through all of our requirements and requests. Our venue was the backyard of our house on the beach, James made sure everything was set up and went off without a hitch. Our guests absolutely loved it and had an amazing time!

We loved DJ Adrian!
Coastal DJ handled my wedding day needs in a profesional, efficient, and generous manner. They were responsive to my changing needs and always made me feel like they could handle any curveballs. On the wedding day DJ Adrian was a hit! He was fun, easygoing and professional and he let one of the young cousins hang out with him all night. Many of our guests commented that he was the best wedding DJ they’d heard. I highly recommend this group!

Fantastic DJ
Coastal DJ & Video worked with us at the beginning of our planning phase to help figure out the perfect time for our reception to end. Marcus specifically was our DJ for the night and did so well! He kept everyone entertained and made our guest feel so comfortable going up to him to request a song. Also, there is no intro song or songs he cannot mash together to help play a prank on your groomsmen while they are doing their walk in song(s). If you can request Marcus as your DJ we fully recommend doing so!

We danced all nigh!
Everything was absolutely amazing! I know the star rating is out of 5s, but we give DJ Nick and the Coastal DJ Team straight 10s across all categories! The night exceeded all expectations, and the music played a major role in that! Their system was easy to navigate, and we were able to have all of the music we wanted, and create the perfect vibes for us! Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for such a special night! We couldn’t have asked for a better DJ!

Best DJ, Best Music!
We had DJ Kaleb with Coastal for our wedding and BOY did he crush it! He had the best music ever! We weren't supposed to "start" dancing until 7:30 and people were on the floor starting at 6:30 all the way till the end! When we spoke before, he completely understood what we were going for and made sure our guests were having the best time. They had a website to add songs, etc, which was really helpful as well. They were very reasonably priced and could not have been more kind, fun, or wonderful. PLEASE use them if you are in the area! 10/10, 5 stars, 100%, whatever the rating system you may have they are worth top marks!

Coastal DJ was amazing for our wedding! George was so easy going with everything, and chose the best songs to keep us on the dance floor, the dance floor was never empty! Our families were beyond impressed as well, everyone had a blast. I cannot thank you enough George, you did an amazing job for our ceremony music, cocktail music and reception music! Life savers at the final hour
George and Coastal DJ stepped in and helped us out on 2 days notice after our original DJ cancelled on us.
George done an Awesome job of playing the wide variety of music our Wedding needed. He kept the dance floor full and by the end of the night our guests were literally singing his name!!

Can’t express enough how amazing our entire experience with Coastal DJ was! We booked George personally for our wedding 10 months before our wedding and he was so helpful the entire 10 months! He always replied right away and even kept us updated on important milestones before the wedding! Everything on the wedding day was executed perfectly and he even offered to help out in other ways. We had so many people tell us they loved the DJ and gave him so many compliments! He really kept the party alive and the dance floor was packed all night!! Can’t recommend Coastal DJ enough!!

We had the best time!
DJ James was amazing! Hands down a wayyy better experience than I imagined. Everyone at the reception was dancing the whole time, and he was right on time with the timelines set in place. He felt the crowd and played all the right songs at the right time. I have received compliments on DJ James from my wedding guests. Everyone had a blast. The prices were very reasonable and totally worth it. Their online portal makes everything extremely easy to add music & plan your night. They are super quick to respond & very easy to get in touch with. If you’re looking for a DJ company in the OBX, look no further, you won’t be disappointed!

Awesome beach wedding!
George was awesome to work with. After postponing our 2020 wedding he had no problem fitting in our new 2021 date. He was professional given the covid guidelines in place and made sure to follow all expectations. He did a great job of setting up with as little stress as possible for us as we were getting ready in a large beach event home. He was flexible for 3 different areas with speakers at each location. All of our guests had an awesome time, and we will always remember our special night! The lights, music, and photo booth were all a hit. Would recommend to anyone needing a DJ.

in march of 2020 i attended the wedding expo, i left with great information & handfuls of fliers. during the shutdown the week after i began my journey of searching for a DJ for my may 2021 wedding, george was quick to respond back to me. he was the ONLY dj who offered to set up a phone call and go over their planning system instead of just sending a PDF file of their rate. he spent a good half hour/45 minutes on the phone with my fiancé and answered all questions before we even signed the contract. if your looking for a day that goes smoothly coastal dj will 100% make sure it happens. george organized all my details, and answered with all my questions. about 2 weeks prior to the wedding they set up a phone call to go over EVERYTHING. that’s when we met adrian our DJ. i can’t say enough good about him. he kept everyone, and i mean EVERYONE dancing. he was out on the floor with us, he incorporated his own flair to things, and all my guest kept complimenting how amazing he was and that be belonged in a night club because he was so talented. anything we asked or suggested he made sure it happened. he took care of everything from my ceremony music & audio to the timeline of the wedding. i have so much great things to say about coastal dj and george & adrian!
