We decided on the Potomac Riverboat as our wedding venue because we enjoy the outdoors, the water, and we live 15 minutes from Old Town, Alexandria where the Potomac Riverboat is docked. My mom was thrilled that we could both do an outdoor ceremony (on the top deck of the boat!!) and have dinner and the reception indoors (with air conditioning in Mid-August). The planners met with us as many times as we needed to make us feel comfortable that the day would run smoothly. They recommended an amazing caterer which they had worked with before and everyone enjoyed the delicious dinner, drinks, and ice cream bar. The venue and staff organizing and running our wedding made sure that the night ran smoothly and that all our wishes were met. We also had a 4 person band on the boat and the middle deck was able to accommodate space for the band, dancing (and speeches), bar, and an ice cream bar! We had about 105 guests and this was the perfect size venue for the amount of guests. I highly recommend the Potomac Riverboat as a venue for any event. All of our guests and family that came from near and far enjoyed the unique venue and seeing the monuments as we cruised the Potomac River throughout the venue. -

Best place to have a wedding! Beautiful, weatherproof, romantic, and unique. Staff is amazing - helpful and wildly efficient. Relieved most of my stress because I knew they had everything covered. Was actually able to enjoy the reception! I'd give 6 stars if I could. -

This was the perfect, unique wedding venue that delighted our guests and made a memorable experience for all. The team at the Cherry Blossom exceeded all expectations- patient, helpful, proactive, and always graciously professional. Loved the boat- and had so much fun on the river! -

If you are thinking of booking them, do it. The Cherry Blossom is your venue. I had to do all the planning for my wedding myself and I don't know if I would have been able to do it without their help. Not only was it one of the best values I could find in the area, but it felt really special and fun to have all our friends and family on the boat with us. Plus everybody is all in one place and can relax and enjoy the day rather than trying to drive to a different location for the reception. All our guests loved it, and Old Town is great to walk around afterwards.
My advice is to book for slightly longer than you think you need because time will fly. Also, the style of the interior is Victorian with neutral pinks and greens. I worked touches of the colors and style into my table settings and I think it really tied the room together and looked classy. The inside is so pretty, you don't really have to do much.
You do have to use one of their approved vendors, but that is really for the best since you can be confident they know the boat well. I went with King Street Blues for my caterer, and the food was great and the owner really fantastic to work with, but sadly he couldn't be there the day of and his crew did actually flub up on some small things. I think this was probably just miscommunication, but if Rick can't be there, you might want to make sure to speak with whoever will be heading up the catering crew and just make sure you are on the same page. But all that had nothing to do with PRC, who could not have been better.
When pricing things out, consider you probably don't need to rent any chairs since they are on the boat, so the Cherry Blossom might actually be cheaper than other places once you take that into account. And if you need to save some money, we skipped the open bar and just had champagne and a soda bar, which was perfect, and we left at noon, which worked out well for people driving in from out of town. Excellent, excellent venue. -

Potomac Riverboat Company really went out of their way to make our special day perfect! A special thank you to Logan who was extremely flexible with our difficult schedule and always making time to accommodate our requests. The boat itself was beautiful and the staff was very professional on our wedding day.
If you are teetering on whether or not to book Potomac Riverboat, rest assured you can not go wrong! Keep in mind, you will need to select one of their catering companies, however they will answer any questions you have and even help you select one. We personally went with Rick at King Street Blues (went above-and-beyond for us, definitely check them out!).
Simply put: beautiful picture opportunities, outstanding service and a great value for such a lovely venue. Thank you Potomac River Company for everything, and I wish you guys the best! -

We chartered the Admiral Tilp from Potomac Riverboat Company for our rehearsal dinner, and it was AWESOME! It held 49 guests, and was such a unique and fun experience for our rehearsal. We extended invitations outside the wedding party to some of our family who traveled from out of town for the weekend and they LOVED the different experience. We had it catered by King Street Blues which was perfect, and brought on bottles of wine and coolers full of beer. It was a perfect, more casual evening while still being unique and very special!! -

With less time than one should ever have to plan a wedding, we pulled it off with the help of Charlotte and the PRC staff. Doing it on the 'Cherry Blossom' riverboat succeeded in making our day feel very special and also quite memorable for our guests who continue to rave about it 9 months later. The Victorian style riverboat was romantic and surprisingly spacious for our 150 guests. It clearly could have handled many more. We chose to have the ceremony in the open air on the top deck, drinks/dancing on the middle deck and heavy appetizers with some tall and short tables on the lower deck. It flowed beautifully with the help of the PRC staff who were extremely professional. We opted for a 4th hour and can't imagine doing both the ceremony and reception in less time. The PRC staff could not have done a better job. They were simply FABULOUS!!! -

In a much shorter period of time than anyone should plan a wedding, we pulled it off with the help of PRC. Charlotte was WONDERFUL with so many helpful suggestions. She clearly has done this many times before and really enjoys it! Our guests LOVED our idea. They loved having the wedding and reception in one place and they loved that it was on a riverboat. For us, it was wonderfully romantic. We enjoy the Victorian era and the 'Cherry Blossom' played her part well (of course it helped that the cherry blossoms were in FULL bloom that day!). The riverboat was easily large enough to accommodate our ceremony and reception for 150 with plenty of room left over. The flow/movement around the boat between the ceremony on the open air top deck, two open bars, the happy hour, the toasts, meal and dancing was handled superbly by the PRC staff. Great use was made of all three main decks. It could not have gone better! Book it...your special day will be unforgettable!!

Excellent venue, unique experience, high quality service. The staff ensured our day felt special and everything went off without a hitch. My only reservation for future patrons is to carefully research reviews of their catering options you must use. We used Carriage House (Bugsy's), and while the tasting was great, the food quality the night of was not the same positive experience. -

We used Potomac Riverboat Company for a reception hour before dinner on the Miss Christin. We were looking for a casual event - it was wonderful treat for our guests to see the city and enjoy heavy appetizers and drinks.
Lily was our event coordinator - she was WONDERFUL to work with. She was extremely responsive to e-mail - quickly sent me photos of the boat decorated, was quick to respond to questions/email, and helped us set up a walk through with the photographer and wedding planner. She was also there on our wedding day to help our wedding planner decorate.
Thank you for making our day so special! -

We had the most wonderful experience with the Potomac Riverboat Company on Sunday, April 13, 2014. We rented the Cherrry Blossom Riverboat for a Wedding Brunch Cruise following my daughter's wedding at the Lyceum in Old Town on Saturday. The venue....the classic gorgeous riverboat could not have been more beautiful and romantic. The staff of the Potomac Riverboat company, including Charlotte and Chelsea, could not have been more thoughtful, kind and accomodating! The set up was stunning....the cruise relaxing and intimate. Kudos to the Potomac Riverboat Company. We would use them again in a heartbeat! -

We chose this venue for our wedding because we wanted something different than the norm. It was a pleasure to have our wedding aboard the Cherry Blossom Riverboat. Our guest complimented us on choosing such a great place. Even though our wedding was 4.5 hours long, it did not feel long and none of my guests felt like hostages on the boat (that I'm aware of).
Charlotte helped us out a lot with the last minute details, by providing an aisle runner that someone from a previous wedding had left, gathering my bridesmaids to hand out bubbles at the end of the wedding, and other details like that. She did an excellent job as a coordinator. Our guests had also said that the wedding seemed to be well-planned.
Our photographer told us that he really appreciated the venue reaching out to him to make sure that he was familiar with the boat. -

We couldn't have been happier with our choice to have our wedding on the Cherry Blossom (Potomac Riverboat Company). Gorgeous boat and outstanding staff. They took so much of the work and worry out of my hands, and we feel that we got an outstanding value for our money even though there are cheaper venues out there. Between the stunning scenery, the gorgeous setting of being on the river, the fantastic staff, and all the attention to detail, we definitely got our money's worth. My only regret is that the day went by so fast and that we're only having one wedding--- I would absolutely love to host or attend another event on this beautiful riverboat! -

This was truly a fantastic venue for our reception!!! We got nothing but compliments from our guests about how fun and unique the riverboat was. The staff was amazingly easy to work with, from planning all the way through the event. I expected to have at least a few things to worry about on my wedding day (having not hired a planner), but everything just appeared in the right places at the right time, all the way down to the deviled eggs and champagne that showed up for me as I was getting "bustled" up after arriving from the ceremony. I didn't ask for it, but it was a welcome surprise before we headed in for our first dance and the formalities. It may cost a little more than doing a hotel reception or something more traditional, but we had a fabulous night and so did our guests. -

We had our reception on the Cherry Blossom Riverboat, docked at the end of King Street, Old Town Alexandria. We originally wanted a destination wedding and after family requests we stayed local. The boat was phenomenal. We had a wonderful experience with the staff of the Potomac River Boat Company, Charlotte and Laura were fantastic. They assisted with all my needs in a timely fashion and the service they provided was exceptional. They are not ADA certified, and I have a sister in law in a wheel chair, they were able to accommodate her wonderfully and made her feel comfortable.
The boat is much larger than it appears we were able to fit 110 people comfortably on the lower level for buffet dinner and did the dancing on the second level. It was PERFECT!! -

My wedding ceremony and reception were both on the Cherry Blossom Vessel. I cannot express how perfect my wedding day was on their boat. Laura, our event coordinator, went out of her way to make sure everything was beyond perfect. She was so calm the entire time but made sure everything was done perfectly. We had our ceremony on the upper third deck while the boat was docked in Old Town Alexandria. I loved having the option of doing our ceremony inside and outside. We were so fortunate to have great weather to allow us to have the ceremony outside. The boat gave our guests the option of being inside or out for the reception. We ventured down past the National Harbor and then back up to the 14th Street bridge on the Potomac. They are so flexible and are willing to do what they can to make your day great.
The Potomac Riverboat Company were incredibly easy to work with from day one for the planning and the actual day of. It is a gorgeous vessel and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a venue in the DC area. -

Our June wedding aboard the Cherry Blossom Riverboat was the most special and unforgettable day for us! We love Old Town Alexandria and being on the water, the Cherry Blossom offered the best of both worlds! We remained docked in Old Town for our wedding ceremony and then set sail on the Potomac for our reception. We booked the riverboat for 4.5 hours and that was the perfect amount of time to have our ceremony, cocktail hour, seated dinner, and dancing. The space was perfect for our 110 guest count. Our wedding went without a hitch thanks to Alison Grant who was our PRC coordinator through the entire process. She was professional, helpful, and such a pleasure for us and all of our other vendors to work with.
If you are looking for a unique and fun wedding venue, the Cherry Blossom Riverboat is perfect! Our top notch team of vendors that made it all of this possible for us: Main Event Catering, Bialek's Music DJ Brennan Sullivan, Katie Nesbitt Photography, ETC Coordinators, and Sweet Root Village.

Exceptional company and group of people. Everything we asked for or needed was catered to and done excellently. They provided a great setting for our wedding and reception aboard the Cherry Blossom Riverboat. We worked together with the events coordinator who eased the planning process. We had several walkthroughs months ahead to help with planning, got to see a mock wedding and reception during an open house aboard, and were able to have a rehearsal on the boat the day before the wedding (which was uber helpful as most of the bridal party was coming in from out of state.)
They had a good deal on including beer of our preference in the bar package, and the options for catering (from their list of preferred caterers) were varied on price points and cuisine, so we were able to find one we could afford.
All the guests have said it was the funnest & coolest wedding they'd ever been too, and I honestly didn't want the boat ride to end. -

We had our wedding ceremony and reception on the Cherry Blossom Riverboat and it was awesome. The staff was incredible and did a great job working with us and our vendors to make it a very special day. Our guests absolutely loved having the experience of a riverboat cruise/wedding. It comfortably hosted our 120 guests. We didn't need any decorations other than table centerpieces, because the boat is already so exquisite! The price was way less than we expected for a venue like this in the area. I highly recommend the Potomac Riverboat Company. -

We loved having our wedding on the Cherry Blossom! It was such a unique venue that made our wedding memorable for both ourselves and our guests. Our coordinator, Alison, was helpful throughout the entire process. We were impressed from our very first visit to the Cherry Blossom.
The venue has a list of caterers you have to choose from and the bar is provided by the venue. These costs add up quickly; my recommendation if you're thinking about the Cherry Blossom is to look into the price of the caterers too before you commit to the venue. We had tastings with several, and while we ended up going with Main Event, both King Street Blues and Windows were excellent contenders as well.
Our day-of coordinator was also very helpful in making sure everything ran smoothly. The only issue we had was leaving the dock on time - due to a few unfortunately rude no-show guests, we were delayed. My recommendation is to be clear about your intentions to leave without your full guest count if you expect some guests might not show and want to get the full amount of time you paid for on the boat.
Overall, I recommend the Cherry Blossom for an unforgettable wedding experience! -

My husband and I absolutely enjoyed our wedding ceremony and reception on the Cherry Blossom boat! Our guests also enjoyed their time and thought it was an awesome idea. The only possible con I can say about the day was some miscommunication between the vendors about when to do what (photos, dinner, etc.), but it all worked out and no one noticed a thing. We had our wedding ceremony and reception on the Cherryblossom in May of this year and would not change a thing! The Potomac Riverboat Company, specifically Allison, was so great to work with throughout the planning process and day of! We are Old Town locals and chose the boat because it was able to hold a large group (120) at a great value for the area. Everything went off without a hitch and so many of our guests loved the unique experience.-

We selected the cherry blossom for our recent wedding. It is a very attractive boat, with rich looking wood and brass, and a very old fashioned riverboat look. Perfect for a slightly out of the ordinary wedding experience! They have a very professional staff. The cruise was nice. Overall a great experience. Recommend booking at least 4 hours -

New company; several hiccups.
PROS: The boat was beautiful, the water was lovely, and the bar was on point. They were also willing to stock enough non-alcoholic sparkling cider for about half the guests who are sober. CONS: So, the company I booked with (Hornblower) got bought out (by City Experiences or City Cruises) in the middle of my wedding planning. Which, made things very very tricky. With Hornblower, the vessel I booked lived at National Harbor. So all the vendors I booked were near there. The new company moved all the boats to the Wharf in D.C. And would not accommodate any extra time at the National Harbor dock for set up or tear down. So, my coordinator had to haul all the decorations (including several boxes of rental flowers) to D.C. and hire extra staff to make sure they could get everything set up in time (1 hour). Have you tried to set up for an entire wedding in 1 hour? Tear down time was also limited to 15 minutes per the new company. Have you tried to tear down a wedding in 15 minutes? My coordinator had to virtually throw together all my decor including the special glasses I bought for us to have our first drinks in... which ended up breaking sadly because they didn't get wrapped properly. But the thing that upset me the most was that they refused to make accommodations for my husband's elderly grandmother to board early. She has trouble with stairs. They let the entire bridal party on early to do a quick rehearsal... why couldn't my grandmother get on too? She just wanted extra time to climb the stairs. She's 75 for goodness sake. Also, you'll notice in my photo several empty chairs lining the aisle. During planning I asked if they could be moved to the back. They refused to do that. It's "more work for the crew" and would "cost extra". But they moved all the other chairs and tables to the back. Why couldn't they move these? Lastly, not only were the beef tips cold, but they ran out of sides before the last 15 people went through. Either control the portion sizes by serving it yourself, or bring extra. And, always check your warming lights are lit! lol. I'm sure they learned that lesson. The Food & Beverage manager was very sweet and I could tell she felt terrible for all the issues. Unfortunately, our group did not have a positive experience. Tl;dr - Boats are fun. But, on this boat, my coordinator had to go to extraordinary lengths to make the event work. I paid her extra for the additional staff but she went above and beyond in terms of effort and time. My grandmother was in questionable condition after having to rush up the stairs. And I could've done without my new family being hangry at the reception. Maybe now that the company is a little more settled in they wont have all these issues. But, make sure every logistical thing you need is in the contract before you sign it. Good luck. -

We recently had our wedding on The Cherry Blossom Riverboat and we had mixed feelings about the overall experience. It is hands down one of the most unique and beautiful venues in the Northern Virginia area, but we would like to give some caution as well. It would be best for a smaller wedding during the winter, we had around 100 and it was perfect, anymore and I think it might have felt a little crowded. Also, the overall price of the boat rental is actually a good deal when you consider you can have both the ceremony and reception in one location. Also, its amazing getting married in beautiful Old Town then cruising to see the DC skyline and the boat company is very quick to respond to all emails and phone calls. However, we were a little disappointed in the limited vendor selections for catering companies, they were all either very upscale and very pricey or their more budget-friendly options did not respond to us, but if you have the budget for a fancy catering company this venue can't be topped. The only other things we had minor issues with were the very rigid rules about when the boat can be set-up and cleaned-up, and the extra charges for ordering champagne which we didn't find out about until late in the game. Overall, beautiful and perfect venue for someone with a bigger budget to avoid some of those issues. -
