Mind Blowing. True castle hidden in heart of Houston. Place for a Royal Prince and Princess to wed. From start to finish, Sarah and her staff went all out. They were very accommodating and flexible. For what they offer in the venue, the price is a steal. Worth every penny and more. They made my daughter's wedding a truly Royal experience. Our food restrictions were strict ( no eggs, garlic or onions ) and their master chef went all out and the food was AMAZING!!! For me and my family, this is the only venue we will ever use in our life for any event that we are hosting. LOVE YOU GUYS FOR WHAT YOU DID!!!! THANKING YOU WITH A HUMBLE HEART, Dipak Bhatt -

We booked Citadel after doing tons of searches. Once we saw the chapel we knew it was where we wanted to have our wedding. The waterfall is BEAUTIFUL, the grounds are kept impeccably and the FOOD -- amazing.
Though our schedule was pushed back a little because COVID-19 the Citadel staff are very experienced and went above and beyond to make the guests enjoy the day without any issues and I gotta say, it was fantastic. I was impressed.
Also, our guests all said they LOVED the venue and that it was the best wedding food they've ever had (of course we ordered the best of the best menu choices for our guests -- and also the amazing chef allowed us to make a few substitutions to the food pairings -- things we enjoyed a great deal at the tasting). You really get what you pay for! The food was so amazing that after we looked back at photos of the day, we want to return just to have the meal again. -

AMAZING!!! Wedding planning is stressful as it is without the additional stress of COVID 19. Rarely do you find a family oriented business that is willing to be accommodating, cooperating and organizing an event as it were their own wedding. Great people make all the difference and a big big thanks to Sara and Rebecca. You guys are amazing, awesome, wonderful, talented and warm. I am so happy that our paths crossed and we are able to host our wedding and reception at your venue. What an incredible staff! The crew at Citadel led by Sara was there every step of the way and made planning for our big day a breeze. From their smiles, humor and positivity all around, it was a fun and joy-filled day for me and my family. Their venue is absolutely stunning in so many ways - grand entrance (incredible first impression)!, beautiful beautiful doors, marble floors, furnishings all throughout are so luxurious! And the food is just phenomenal - they just recently hired an award winning chef and I have received amazing feedback from our guests about the food! What more can you ask for - gorgeous venue, impeccable service and great food! I love Citadel and it’s staff and I would choose them again and again. Thank you! -

The Citadel made my wedding planning process so easy. The catering and bar service is all done in-house, and the food is delicious. I worked with Sara and she helped set us up with our decor/flower vendor and gave us recommendations for everything from our wedding cake to photographer.
Not to mention, the venue itself is stunning. There isn't a corner of the Citadel that isn't clean, polished, and well designed.
Citadel is the perfect venue if you would like to have a truly luxurious wedding -

The venue, food and staff were AMAZING through the entire process and I could never recommend them enough. Our event producer was Rebecca, and she was with us every step of the way with little reminders and itineraries to help keep us on track. Planning a wedding is stressful, and everything I would forget she would remember. I highly highly recommend the Citadel for your wedding venue!

It's no question that the venue is absolutely gorgeous. I didn't have to do much for decorations since the venue was so breath taking. The staff was very responsive and easy to work with. The only thing I would change is not having an exclusive vendor with the decorator. The decorator (The Perfect Touch) had issues with communcation. Overall, very happy with my experience and my guests were very impressed with the venue. -

Went to do virtual tour because I am from Ohio. Only offered facetime via apple. Super inconvenient for people that don't have apple phones. Pretty bad for a business to only offer out of town customer one way to look at the venue. -

Citadel is a breathtaking venue, so when my fiancé and I toured in June of 2020, we knew that we wanted to have our wedding here. On 07/01/2020, we signed a contract with them for our wedding date of 04/10/2021.
On 01/05/2021, 95 days before our wedding and after about 75% of the total had been paid, Citadel informed us that they had double booked our wedding. We learned that they had reached out to our planners on Christmas Eve regarding the mistake. Our planners (knowing that I am a graduating medical student who will be likely moving from Houston this summer to start residency and that we were planning to have an Indian wedding of multiple events across multiple days) told Citadel that we were unable to move our date and to figure out a solution before calling us. During our phone call on 01/05, Citadel offered no apology or solutions. They also did not set a meeting time to discuss our concerns. After we showed up in person to the venue the next morning, Sara the venue owner (not local), was put on the phone and asked us to send her a list of what it would take to make the situation right. However, after she received this list, she began to treat us disrespectfully and unprofessionally. She was initially unwilling to negotiate with us, threatening repeatedly to cancel the event and “find us another venue.” Ultimately, we accepted their refund offer (which they did not deliver for another two weeks) because we knew we would be unable to hold a happy wedding here on a rescheduled date after how Sara had treated us. Like another reviewer who had a run-in with them recently stated, the situation honestly seemed unreal and we are still beside ourselves with the whole ordeal.
We chose Citadel because we wanted a beautiful, professionally run, and stress-free wedding. As evidenced by the many good reviews about this venue, I think that when things go according to plan, Citadel can deliver that. However, when something went wrong for us, even though it was their mistake, they responded with defensiveness and incompetence. Unfortunately, you never know when something will happen to YOUR wedding. Citadel costs a pretty penny, so I would spend your money on a different venue that will ensure that your wedding day is surrounded by joy and celebration even if things don’t go according to plan.

Derrion Sent on 11/09/2020Citadel's Covid-19 accommodations were horrible. They basically took our money, still fighting
In November 2019, my fiancée and I secured a wedding date of June 20, 2020. As Coronavirus took hold, we became aware that the wedding would have been impossible due to local restrictions by Harris County, not to mention our concern for the safety of our guests, and pre-existing conditions that made my fiancée and I more susceptible to Coronavirus. Over the next seven months, despite repeated attempts to find a new date, and an assurance by Citadel that we would be able to do so, they decided to either refuse to respond to communication or repeatedly threaten to sue us. Now in October, all we have to show for this continued effort to reschedule amid a pandemic is a stack of communications between ours and Citadel’s attorneys, $25,000 gone that we have already paid to Citadel, and still no date to safely be married. We were close to securing another date, but when Citadel demanded that we sign a separate contract and waive all their liability and we refused, they said we had effectively cancelled the event (despite our various attempts to reschedule) and were in breach for not making our final payment 30 days before the original wedding date, now already two months past. Never mind the fact that our contract had a Force Majeure clause that allowed us to reschedule to 12 months later should government action preclude the wedding from happening. Now, to continue with our wedding, we will have to sue Citadel who is unwilling to communicate with us or our attorney and have evidently done the exact same thing to others in the past. We are beside ourselves as to nature of this whole encounter and advise you to spend your money elsewhere.
