If I had to do it over again, I would choose Chula Vista a hundred times over. We got married on the River View deck and held our reception in the River View Ballroom. The backdrop and view were incredible. Jenny was so easy to work with. We were fish out of water on this and she had helpful recommendations and insight, but more than that she really took care of us. Everything went off without a hitch. Every question answered, promptly. She's on top of her game.

The food we had was phenomenal and it was so convenient to have everything right there. We even did our rehersal dinner on site. The price was reasonable as well. Had we gotten married in Madison it would have been twice the price, easily, and we would not have had the gorgeous backdrop.

We can't wait to make many happy returns to this beautiful area.

We loved working with Jennifer Akers for our wedding. Are they could not have been more perfect! The food is also phenomenal.

We had our ceremony on the golf course, the on-site house to get ready in was really convenient. Reception in the riverview ballroom which was a gorgeous spot with a nice patio next to the river. The food was amazing. The staff are great, everyone from the bartenders to banquet coordinator, and especially Jenny who was able to support all of our requests! Our only minor complaint was that guests had to book rooms through a phone number and a few people had issues with the call center. Otherwise I would highly recommend Chula Vista, they helped us bring our vision to a reality and it was the best day!

Jenny was incredible!!!! She was there every step of the way in the process of wedding planning and she gave so much insight and help for us to have the most special wedding day. We highly recommend Chula Vista Resort and working with Jenny for any wedding services!

Our venue contact Jennifer was incredibly helpful from beginning to end. It ended up raining quite heavily on our wedding day so last minute changes were needed to move the ceremony into the reception tent. That was done seamlessly as she was always responsive and present during our prep process. Pricing was accurate and honest and the staff (Jason at the Tavern, bartenders and maintenance/setup) was also incredible. Can't recommend them enough! - Luke and Ryley

Planning a wedding with Taylor Youngblut, wedding coordinator at Chula Vista, was nothing short of an amazing experience! She truly went above and beyond to make sure we had the most perfect day...even through all of this COVID craziness! I would 100% 10/10 recommend having a wedding at Chula Vista! The food was amazing as well as the service! Thank you to Jeff Kaminski for going the extra mile to make sure our special day occurred.

We are so glad that we chose Chula Vista for our wedding and reception. It was a great experience from start to finish, very much due to the professionalism and experience of Rachel Jacobson, Chula’s amazing wedding coordinator. Our wedding was Nov. 29, 2019. Everyone especially loved the food we served — we had food stations with various carved meats, and people were raving about them! The staff at the reception were so great as well; they were all very helpful and friendly. I can’t say enough about our experience! It was excellent!! The only challenges people had were navigating the resort, but that worked itself out over time. Some of the decor, especially the carpeting in the banquet rooms, was a bit dated, but I’ve seen they are taking on some renovations. Overall I would recommend Chula as a great choice for a wedding and reception! Thank you Rachel and everyone at Chula Vista for a wonderful wedding and great memories!

Rachel at Chula Vista went above and beyond to make our day at the river view deck/ballroom perfect. We were nearly rained out but managed to pull it all outside and make it work. Halfway through the ceremony we walked down to the water park and took a swim in the lazy river- wedding dress, tux and all.

My husband and I just got married at Chula Vista this past weekend and it was everything we could have imagined! Everything went so smooth. Tory and everyone else who helped with our wedding were phenomenal. Tory was always there to answer any questions that we had and was very responsive. The ceremony site and reception was beautiful. The food is absolutely amazing!! We had so many compliments from our guests. I highly recommend having your wedding at Chula Vista!

Our guests loved the outdoor setting! We had our ceremony at the Fairway Grove and the reception at the Cold Water Tent and we had the most gorgeous weather! Our wedding day couldn't be any more perfect. Rachel was so responsive and helpful! Thank you!

We thoroughly enjoyed planning and celebrating our special day at Chula Vista! Jenn Pieper was our wedding coordinator and she was AMAZING! The golf lawn was perfect for our ceremony and the grand ballroom was everything we could have imagined for our reception. The waitstaff was very kind and polite and the guestrooms were great too!

This resort is absolutely amazing for weddings! The wedding coordinator, Rachel, was amazing! She was so responsive and available to answer any questions and solve any issues we had. She worked so hard to make sure our day was perfect and that we had everything we needed! The food was amazing! Many of our guests commented that their meals were delicious! The bartenders were awesome and so fun! The whole day went off without a hitch! The tent was gorgeous and set up perfectly! We loved our wedding and highly recommend this resort!

My new husband and I had our wedding reception at Chula Vista in the Upper Ballroom. Not only were the view and the venue beautiful, but all of the staff was amazing! We worked with both wedding coordinators- Jenn and Rachel- and were so pleased with their willingness to get us anything and everything we needed! Our reception was absolutely beautiful! We would like to give a special mention to the houseman Cory who helped us with our last minute requests, Jennifer and Will who bartended for us, and Ruth from banquets who with her staff made sure that everyone's needs were met swiftly. Everyone was amazing and made us feel so special! We definitely recommend Chula Vista Resort for any weddings!

I did a lot of research in regards to choosing the right venue. I stumbled upon this lovely resort via the internet and fell in love with the location and the reviews were great. So my husband and I went to visit the resort for a tour. It was our first venue touring and right away we knew that this was the venue we wanted to get married at. We were able to choose the ceremony and reception location on the Grand Canyon Golf Course with the beautiful outdoor tent. At the time we met Mikayla and she was great. She always responded to our emails or phone calls fairly quickly and really worked with us to make sure that we were getting everything we needed or wanted. She was always able to answer any questions we had. As our wedding was nearing, unfortunately Mikayla had left the resort and we had a new wedding coordinator, Jenn. She was new and I'm sure overwhelmed with all of the weddings she was thrown into. Yet, she and everybody else in charge helped to make sure everything was a smooth transition and helped to make our wedding one we'll never forget. The resort was very flexible and professional. The day of our wedding was beyond beautiful. Everyone at the resort was beyond helpful and polite. Not to mention that the catering exceeded our exceptions. All of our guests raved about how it was the best food they have ever had at a wedding. Our experience at Chula Vista was wonderful and we were so happy that we were able to have our wedding there. The pictures are also breathtaking with the many beautiful locations we were able to choose from surrounding the resort. Just beautiful! And the water parks were an awesome perk before and after the wedding to make a nice mini family vacation out of it.

Chula Vista Resort was better than we expected. Everything was perfect from the suites, rehearsal, patio set up for the outdoor ceremony to perfection in the hall. Service was phenomenal I highly recommend Chula Vista for a wedding.

This location is perfect to get the family together for more than just a wedding night! We had family come from out of state and being able to have a weekend with everyone was a gift itself. The location was beautiful, all the staff was extremely helpful, and everything went very smooth. Mikayla was right there when we needed anything through the whole day.

From bachelorette party to wedding ceremony to reception, Chula Vista was more than willing to accommodate. Our guests had a blast and our wedding was more than we could've imagined when we began planning. Chula Vista was amazing!

I would come back and do our wedding all of over again just because of the great staff at Chula Vista! Our wedding was spot on and Mikayla was SO helpful and quick to respond to anything we needed.

Chula Vista was an amazing place to have our wedding. Mikayla was a fantastic person to work with and was extremely flexible. We were allowed to have a popcorn bar from another place instead of other hotels we looked at who would have made us use their popcorn. Everything we wanted as far as appetizers to late night snacks was flexible and custom to what we wanted. Our only issue, mainly mine, was the non early check in we requested. We wanted to go do the Ducks before the rehearsal and didn't want to drive around with cars packed of stuff but it wasn't a make or break. The food was fantastic, the head chef came to check on us multiple times and made sure everything was good which it was. It may have been a far drive for some but it was completely worth having our wedding there.

Everyone was so helpful and friendly. If we had any questions, they were promptly answered. Wedding planning can be stressful but with all the courteous help we received, it was a breeze! We are still getting compliments on how delicious the food was too! Everything was hot, fresh and the servers kept the buffet clean and stocked with food.

Chula Vista Resort and all of their staff did an amazing job in helping us prepare for our special day. They worked through every detail with us and ensured we were pleased with all options available. Not to mention the setting is beautiful and made for amazing pictures!

Chula Vista resort did an amazing job with my wedding. They had 3 other weddings at their resort besides mine. They didn't even break a sweat. We were also suppose to have an outdoor wedding but due to the weather we had to move it inside. Chula Vista helped me make the right decision and came up with an indoor room without a problem. I would reccomend them to anyone!

We had the most amazing wedding at the Chula Vista this New Years Eve. We had 300 guests. The wedding ceremony took place in the upstairs ballroom and then transitioned to the first floor area for drinks and appetizers before heading into the grand ballroom for dinner. The staff was so accommodating and extremely friendly. The entire wedding went smoothly thanks to Mikayla, the wedding planner at Chula Vista. She truly made it the best day of our lives by making everything so easy and fun. She and all of the staff, including the bartenders, security, and waiting staff were extremely polite and friendly. We are still getting comments on how amazing the wedding was, how great the food was, and how much fun people had.
Overall it wasn't cheap, but I did my research and it would have cost more to do a back yard wedding for 300 people.. After you rent the tables, linens, serving ware, pay for food and drinks, tent, music, photographer, DJ, and then you're still responsible for set up and clean up. At the Chula Vista you can trust them to provide these services to you at your highest expectations. You are free to enjoy your special day instead of running around trying to get things together. Also, to be honest it was NYE and our guests drank a lot! We paid for free beer and wine all night, as well as a champagne pyramid and toast. The booze alone would account for half of our final bill! So overall while the event seemed extremely high end, the wedding itself wasn't too expensive.
I would recommend going to Chula Vista! I had the best time at my wedding and wish I could re-live the night over and over again. Thank you Chula Vista and Mikayla!!

Jenny at Chula Vista really came in at the final hour and saved our big day! Jenny did everything she could during our planning process despite it being a very busy wedding season/year and she really helped with insight on what to expect for the ceremony and reception. Once the day finally arrived, the wedding coordinators that we hired separately to set up our decorations and other details completely dropped the ball. They did not do even a quarter of what they were hired to do in the 3+ hours that they were supposed to be there before the ceremony started and it was actually Jenny and her team that jumped in and got everything ready during our 15 minute ceremony to ensure our reception was perfect. Jenny really pulled through for us and we are so grateful. The venue (we used the Tent at Cold Water Canyon) and accommodations at Chula Vista were great and our guests really enjoyed their stay! The condos were great for our wedding parties and getting ready, and Jenny also made sure to put our important condos close to each other. Added bonus: the food was amazing at our reception despite not being overly impressed at the tasting! We definitely recommend the Braised Beef Short Ribs, California Chicken Chardonnay, and the Creamy Pesto Tortellini!

If I had to get married again I would get married here again! The venue is absolutely beautiful and Jenny was such an amazing help from lighting my candles at the reception to bringing my bridesmaids a steamer. The food was amazing!

Jennifer was amazing to work with. She will help your wedding vision come alive and give suggestions if needed! The venue and ceremony location was exactly what were looking for and the food was AMAZING! So many compliments on the food, simplicity of the spaces and all-in-all the resort itself!

Jen was absolutely the best part of our experience at Chula Vista! With her experience, dedication, and great attitude, booking and planning was a pleasure! Everything was beautiful and the staff went above and beyond in every detail yo make the celebration exactly what we wanted. The bar service was awesome, food was amazing and decor was more than we imagined! We got married at Fairway grove, it was beautiful but the chalet house REALLY needs updates (roof, floors, leaking in downstairs bathroom ceiling). This is the only reason i could not give 5 stars for value

We had a block of wedding rooms at Chula Vista on our wedding night. Mikayla, the coordinator, was very responsive to emails and phone calls. We LOVED our complimentary bridal suite right down to the thoughtful card and champaign waiting for us. We had a snafu while checking in, our suite was given to my parents instead but it was quickly corrected and was not a problem. My only complaint was that I assumed a "block" of rooms meant they would be near eachother or atleast in the same building but our guests were spread across the campus. It would have been nice to know that ahead of time. Like I said before though, the rooms were great, our guests and us really enjoyed the indoor waterpark and we really enjoyed the morning breakfast buffet on site the next morning. I would recommend Chula Vista to my friends and family for future events.

Mikayla, the wedding coordinator at Chula Vista, was so helpful in answering all of our questions and being accommodating. She was always responsive in answering emails, which was a huge relief when you're trying to get things planned. I was a little disappointed in the Chula Vista hotel staff, as I had a few guests tell me that they were not friendly. Banquet staff was great though, and we had many compliments on the excellent food! The best part was having Mikayla and the Events intern, Kayla, there on the day of our wedding to help everything go smoothly. I so appreciated that and it was a huge relief off of my shoulders the day of. We are so happy with our decision to pick Chula Vista for our ceremony and reception!

The venue was amazing! Our wedding coordinator Rachel was as well. She was very responsive to all of my emails and always had an answer. My biggest issue with them is that they didn’t necessarily listen to anyone when asked not to take away their food. My husband and I barely ate anything. We had mentioned several times NOT to take our food, but it was gone the second I turned my back. Also, we had a plate taken from a toddler before she was finished eating. Her mother had mentioned many times not to take her food yet. For nearly $40 a plate, you’d think they’d listen. Also, we have no idea what happened with our wedding cake. We don’t know if it was completely eaten, or if they took it and threw it away. I’m still incredibly upset over these 2 instances. Other than that, everything was great. Just make sure to hide your food if you still want it!!

We were very pleased with how the ceremony site turned out. Thank you so much for moving the benches. Brad was great! He was there at the ceremony site and at the reception and anything we needed he was right on it. The staff did an excellent job!

This was a great venue. They helped us with all of our wedding needs. They helped me find a great wedding planner to make everything come togethter.

Chula Vista provided great information to create the wedding we envisioned. Friends and family that came up for the weekend loved relaxing by the pool where the outdoor waterpark offered open seating and lounges throughout the day. The staff was great to set up the chairs for the ceremony and then move them into the tent for the reception. There could have been better coordination for moving the bride from the hotel to the ceremony to ensure she was not on the same transportation as other guests to the ceremony. Our DJ wanted to dim or turn off certain lights in the outdoor tent to set the mood but was told that the lights were all or nothing but it didn’t seem to stop our group from dancing. We had a great wedding night and the dinner/bar staff was great and very professional. Overall Mikayla was an excellent wedding coordinator and it was a beautiful wedding!

Having our wedding at Chula Vista was amazing! Mikayla, the event coordinator, is extremely easy to work with. She is very responsive and walks you through the entire process. We had the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, and reception on site which made everything easy and convenient for our guests.

Our food was great. We were able to choose our menu for rehearsal dinner and we had 4 options for our reception dinner. My only (very mild) complaint about our dinner was the wide variation in the doneness of our steaks. For most I think this worked out because people who were sitting together just switched based on preference, I was just surprised that some were rare and others well done. I was expecting that they would all be more of a medium consistency.

The only issue we had with Chula Vista was that our guests had difficulty checking in. Many rooms were still not available at the 4p.m. check in time. There were several (4) weddings at Chula the day we were married so I understand that there was a lot of people trying to check in, I just feel that the hotel staff was underprepared for the amount of people trying to check in. Also, there check out time is very early (10:30).

Venue for wedding and food was amazing. "Bridal suite" was HORRIBLE. Air conditioner leaked and there was water all over the floor; whirlpool tub was dirty! and it was also the shower. I can't believe the hot tub was in the bathroom...so not romantic to sit next to the toilet in a hot tub! If I was planning a wedding again, and didn't need accommodations, then I'd definitely use Chula again. But I would definitely think twice before booking a room here again; esp a hot tub room. Event services though was amazing!

We had great support and response until the actual wedding day then didn't see anyone until my MOH went searching for someone. Was disappointed with that.

This venue is worth every penny, they care about you, they work with you, and you feel like a person. You get catered to your like and you never feel like you are brushed off.

Loved the venue, stunning! The tent looked amazing! The shuttle was glorious for all of us. The only issue, not a great sense of communication.

I recently had my wedding here and everything was wonderful! It was a great day and everything in its place. All our guest adored our food too & Jenn did a fantastic job!

we worked with Mikayla for our wedding hotel room block. Mikayla was great! She was very responsive, courteous, and just overall very nice to work with. I really enjoyed working with her. I don't remember who we worked with prior to Mikayla, but she didn't answer questions promptly or fully, and we were switched to Mikayla.
The rooms themselves were good. We had champagne and chocolates in our room (the bridesmaids and I) and we definitely enjoyed them! The boys did not have this. The facilities weren't anything special, but were obviously kept updated and spotless. I did have a concern with the bedbugs that were found a week or two beforehand, but I was kept updated by Mikayla and we didn't see a single issue (nor did our guests).

My only complaints: I had a guest that needed a handicap room (nonwheelchair), and they had their room given to someone else and were given a wheelchair only handicap room. This does not have the same type of equipment necessary in the shower specifically, and led to a lot of issues with accessibility. Additionally, this pair of guests did not get the service (namely help with baggage) that they were promised and needed, and instead had to go find another wedding guest to assist them. I was not pleased to hear about that. The clerk at the reception desk needs to be fired. Not only was she short and curt with us, she gave both my groom and I the wrong directions to our rooms, told us the wrong names of the towers, and then proceeded to give our photographer the wrong directions multiple times to the point that my groom and I were 45 minutes late to our rehearsal dinner and the photographer 30 minutes late to the pre-wedding pictures. Thank goodness our photographer is fantastic and we got everything done, but it was ridiculous and unnecessary. The entire hotel is already a maze, you really don't need any help to get turned around, and this clerk made it so much worse.

We chose to have both our wedding ceremony and reception in the same location and Chula Vista offered that at a great price. The ceremony did not have any additional costs because we were having our reception there. It was an amazing deal! We paid a deposit, and half of our deposit was the fee to the room. It included linens, setup of the room, microphones, dinner music, cake cutting, dance floor, lighted trees, our own personal bar, and a jacuzzi suite for us the night of our wedding. We also made it a weekend event for our guests so they were able to receive discounted rooms for both Friday and Saturday evening which included passes for the waterpark. We also had our gift opening the following morning which included beverages and we were able to bring in our own food. It was a great value for the whole weekend.

The only problems we had were some communication issues. At the time we were planning our wedding they were undergoing large renovations so it was difficult to get a hold of someone to answer questions. There were also multiple weddings that day so we didn't receive personalized attention. The largest problem we had, was that even though we were the first couple to book our wedding that day and had reserved an outdoor area for our ceremony, they overbooked and told us we could not use the area. We were told this the week before our wedding and there were no other outdoor areas available. We ended up having an indoor ceremony in the upper ballroom, which turned out okay, except for the crowd from the restaurant was right there.

It was stressful due to the fact the lady that started to help with our wedding resigned from her position and we had to start over with another lady. She was wonderful, but we did not need the added stress.

We could not get the handicapped room that was ordered for an elder guest. Handicapped rooms should not be overbooked

Overall, my husband and I were very disappointed with the professionalism that we experienced from the event coordinator prior to our wedding and the day of. We found that many of our requests were not handled by the wedding coordinator, resulting in having to schedule another appointment and day trip to the Dells (2 hour drive) in order to meet with another coordinator to ensure we were getting what we paid for. After the wedding, I received multiple complaints from our guests regarding the services provided during check-in and check-out. I am forever grateful for the event staff (primarily Nick) that were willing to help in a variety of ways, most of what we expected from the wedding coordinator, who only checked in with me once the day of our wedding. The food service was spectacular and the servers were very nice and accommodating.

Thankfully our wedding day went perfect and all of the banquet staff was awesome but leading up to it was a whole other story with management and the wedding coordinators. After COVID-19 hit EVERYTHING was complicated x10. They were unworkable, constantly changing things, saying we could do one thing only to take it back, and tacking on ridiculous charges. The guest/customer service is pretty awful too. All of our guests were pretty taken aback at how rude pretty much everyone was up at the check in desk with the exception of about two people. Under the impression that a wedding block meant everyone would be pretty close together was not true as everyone was scattered around the resort. Our wedding was in July and I contacted them starting in April trying to figure out how we could either get our money back or at least half otherwise just have just a ceremony so we could do a big reception closer to home since we live in Milwaukee. None of that was ok per the manager! We were forced to either spend the money that was put down, lose all of our money or postpone to next year in hopes we didn’t have to reschedule and face cancellation/rescheduling fees. Rachel was our original wedding coordinator and then in December Alyssa took over. We were told that contact would be made once a 6 month meeting/tasting was to be arranged. I had to take the initiative and email them myself as it was almost February and I was not notified yet. Not taking into account that we have about a two hour drive Alyssa tried to schedule us at 10am! At the meeting we were told a new wedding coordinator who took Rachel’s place would be stepping in and apparently no one wanted to coach her on customer service or making sure if she wasn’t sure about something to not give an answer until the correct info is confirmed. We were constantly being told that things we were asking were ok to do and then it wasn’t. I was pretty calm but VERY stressed after we had our two week follow up meeting where Taylor tried to get us to change our menu from buffet style to plated and thought we should contact all of our guests who had already RSVP’d, told us we couldn’t use the chophouse restaurant anymore even though she gave us the ok to have 35-50 guests in there and then told us we would be charged $50 to rent plexi glass to put in front of food as it was now apart of a CDC guideline. So two weeks from the wedding we are scrambling to set up a ballroom, find decorations, reschedule our DJ and get stuck with a extra $400 in some charges because we needed a dance floor, wall draping, and plexi glass. It was an absolute nightmare. All of this is just a small summary of just a few things we had to put up with. Also if they get viruses on their computers and it sends out spam emails saying a lawsuit will be filed if you don’t pay x amount they won’t contact you and make sure you aware of the scam. STAY AWAY!

We did not have the best experience to say the least. At our tasting/6 month meeting we were asked a bunch of questions while we were in the middle of trying to actually taste the food. It was difficult to answer while chewing. It could have been set up better. We were then asked to decide what we wanted to go with and we told our planner, Alyssa, we couldn’t decide because we were unsatisfied with all it, from it being cold and turning gelatinous, having bones, and the rice still being crunchy. She had said they would give us a second tasting, free of charge a month later. Well when we left we all had to run to the bathroom because the food actually made us physically ill.

To say we were nervous for even a second tasting is an understatement. We then asked how much it would be to bring in our own caterer since that was an option laid out in the paperwork given to us for the tent venue location. After I sent that email, I was given the reply of choosing whether we wanted to keep our date or part ways and get our deposit back. I was given less than 46 hours to decide otherwise I would have lost my deposit and had to pay 50% of food costs. All of this less than 6 months before our wedding.

We decided to pull the plug based on lack of communication, getting sick from the food, and just being downright unwilling to work with us bringing in our own caterer when it said it is an option.

I was supposed to receive my check 7-14 business days after our contract was canceled. 14 days later and it was still not in the mail. I reached out to our planner and accounting. Alyssa couldn’t give me a straight answer about the check for days. Finally I received an email saying that my check was never even sent out and they were sending it out now. I have since received it.

The whole experience has left me really disappointed in Chula Vista and I would NOT recommend them for hosting your wedding. I worked in the Dells and have attended multiple events at Chula that went great. Not sure what happened to the resort, it might be under bad management now, the planners not trained enough, new chef, or maybe all of the above. We did have a great experience with Rachel until she left, that’s the only positive I have had with our experience.

Event Coordinator is very unorganized, took a very long time to get a response. My wedding day was an absolute nightmare. First, it rained the day of my wedding and the ceremony was to take place outside, we were told we had a back-up room, which apparently got booked a couple weeks before the wedding. When I asked where I could get married, they informed me I could get married in the tent (where the reception was held) but I was not able to move any of the furniture (tables and chairs). They actually expected me to weave through tables and have some of my guests have there back turned towards me and they were still planning on charging me the fee for getting married on the deck, even though it was raining! . We were also told that they had heaters available for rent if we were interested, 3 days before the wedding we realized we would be needing a heater, when I contacted Jen (wedding coordinator) I was informed they didn't have any heaters. We had to scramble to find a heater and had to pay top dollar.
The day of the wedding we were not able to get into the tent to set-up until 10am the morning of the wedding. The wedding was at 2, so it was a scramble to get everything set-up. I didn't get to see any of my bridesmaids that morning because we were all taking turns getting ready for the wedding and trying to set-up the tent. The event coordinator was no help, because she was giving tours to other couples that morning (completely unacceptable!). She then forgot to put the mirror centerpieces on all the tables and we were informed 30 min. before the wedding that the votive candles that they promise in the brochure would not work in the mercury votives I rented. We didn't have enough time to get candles so they sat on the table empty all night. The only good thing I can say about Chula Vista is the food, the chicken pesto was excellent. If you want your wedding day to go smoothly, this is not the place to have your wedding.
