Best DJ ever!

We loved Matt!! Music was #1 for us on our wedding day. Choosing the right DJ/MC for the wedding sets the entire tone, flow, and vibe for the whole event. Matt was absolutely incredible to work with. His experience and professionalism made him such a dream to work with. The sound on our wedding day was amazing and we got so many complements from our guests on the music. He helped us so much with our day of timeline and flow, we would have been lost without him. During our final DJ chat before the wedding, we really felt like Matt took the time to get to know us and our style and it really showed on the day. We loved working with Matt and cannot recommend him though as a DJ/MC for your wedding.

Just hire Him! Great DJ! Great Live Acoustic Guitar Covers!

I was very impressed with DJ Matt's talent at a wedding I photographed in McCall during the summer. I'm a wedding photographer and I meet and hear a lot of DJs at the weddings I work at. Matt stands out amongst the best and is very talented and great at his job. He played acoustic guitar for the ceremony and it was so touching and beautiful. I'm also a musician and I can tell quality when I hear it. His fingerpicking and ability to cover folk and popular songs (ie Iron and Wine) is amazing! I think he also played during cocktail hour too. He is able to switch to DJ seamlessly and was able to bring the jams to the dance floor and get people dancing. If you are looking for live ambient acoustic music and a DJ or either-- Matt is the guy! I recommend Matt to my clients and strongly recommend him to anyone!

DJ Matt - Incredibly friendly, knowledgeable and good at getting people to dance!

DJ Matt was awesome at our wedding! From our first conversation, I could tell he was really passionate and knowledgable about music - he basically is a walking music history book. A couple weeks before the the big day, we had a call where we went through the timeline and Matt asked us how we felt about various genres. He had a lot of great recommendations and helped us as we finished our song selections. The day of the wedding could not have gone better.. the dance floor was active all night long and Matt was incredibly friendly. He even went up to us several times and offered to get us drinks! I can't recommend Matt enough. 10/10

DJ Matt is a great DJ and more importantly, a special person

DJ Matt was incredible! From the first interview we had with him, until the moment he played our last dance, we felt as if he truly cared about us and understood that he was contributing to one of the most important days of our lives. We are low key, reserved people, and at first were hesitant about hiring a DJ that would make it too much of a clubby scene. Before we had a chance to tell him so, he started introducing himself, and his vision for weddings matched closely to what we had in mind. We told him our vision, and not only did he not judge us, but he also totally understood and was happy to help us make our vision come true.After our interview with Matt, we looked at each other and both knew we wanted to hire him. There were other great candidates for sure, but we knew it in our gut after one call with Matt.

Another great benefit of hiring Matt, is that he also provides the option to play live music. Although we were taking pictures during the cocktail hour, when he was playing live, we were able to listen in the background and he sounded great. He even learned a song we asked him about two weeks before the wedding and played it. He built the playlist around what genres we like and filled in songs to fit the vibe and the crowd. The night was so much fun. The music vibe made everyone feel happy and comfortable to dance. It was such a special moment when all of our family and friends dancing together. Throughout the entire night, we had so many guests come to tell us how amazing the DJ was. A guest who himself is a DJ told me “your DJ is great”. We would frequently hear “oh I love this song!” from the crowd. We even had a guest come to tell us she was so impressed with the choice of prelude music. We will always cherish that Matt was part of our wedding. Last thing to say is, on the day of the wedding, he had such a friendly and comfortable vibe, and we could tell that he was genuinely happy to be there and celebrate with us. Awesome DJ for our wedding our any event!

We had a great experience with Matt who worked with us to play the music we loved, with great suggestions and responsiveness. He was friendly, easy to work with, and was a fantastic MC/DJ on the night of. Keep in mind that this was through 3 Covid postponements with date changes. We would absolutely recommend Choice Entertainment for any event!

The audiophile's wedding DJ

If you're a music snob throwing a wedding in San Diego or Boise, and you don't want your reception dance mix to sound like every other wedding you've been to, hire DJ Matt Phipps. He has a great ear for what gets people dancing while also being responsive to your tastes. Full disclosure: we gave him the longest "do not play" list I think anyone has ever given a wedding DJ, and he managed to give us a great party that guests were raving about after. Thank you, Matt!

Fantastic Wedding DJ

Matt was so wonderful to work with to plan our wedding day music and emcee-ing. We wanted a DJ who would do an exceptional job of getting people to dance and setting the mood. We gave him songs and genres we liked and he asked us some questions on what general styles were a hard no for us and which we loved. From that he created an amazing wedding sound that people were complimenting all night and after the wedding. He had literally everybody on the dance floor until the end. He does a cool thing where you pick a last song that everybody knows and can sing to- it was such a great way to end the night (or get the momentum going for the after party). His knowledge and experience working with our wedding venue, Darlington House, was also a plus, as he brought along lighting for the rose garden that worked perfectly. We can't recommend him enough to anybody searching. Ps- he can also play guitar if you want one person who can do live music for ceremony or cocktail hour and a DJ for the reception. Exceptional guy and exceptional value.

Integral to the success of our wedding!

DJ Matt was one of the best decisions we made with wedding planning! We live in Washington DC, but the wedding was in La Jolla. No problem, he met us in a Panera when we visted the summer before the wedding, calmly explaining all the little details, and asking all the questions to get to know us better as a couple and what our musical tastes are. Gay wedding, with pop diva music as a theme? NO PROBLEM, he was so excited about it and had some many great ideas. On the big day, so many little details I was anxious about, I had no reason to be. He mic'd the officiant, had mics for the readers, played music before the ceremony and as our recessional in coordination with live artists. Unlike some wedding DJ's, he did NOT make the reception about him, constantly giving needless commentary and cracking bad jokes, he was very low-key and stuck to the introductions and major announcements and such. People were dancing all night long, to the best music. Such a talented great guy, we're thrilled with our choice to hire him.

He had us on the dance floor all night!

We hired Matt for our wedding at The Thursday Club and could not have asked for a better DJ. From the start, he was super nice and accommodated our music requests while giving us suggestions on what songs would pair well and even helping us plan out our day-of timeline so our reception flowed better. We had about 3 hours of dancing at our wedding and it made me so happy to see that Matt had our guests on the dance floor for the majority of the night! He even worked with us to create a cohesive mix that would incorporate salsa and reggaeton for my Puerto Rican family, while still playing the classics and more modern music for our other guests. It was the perfect night and we could not recommend Matt enough for helping to make our wedding one we'll never forget!

Best wedding DJ ever!

Matt was a fantastic DJ, from the pre-ceremony classical music right through to the last dance of the night! The music flowed seamlessly all day and night. Thanks to his DJ skills, pretty much everyone at our wedding danced like crazy and didn't want it to end!

Matt came highly recommended by our wedding planner. I met with him before the wedding and discussed the kinds of music that my fiance and I like. He was so helpful in guiding us, categorising our various tastes, and coming up with musical styles/themes for each part of the wedding. He is extremely knowledgeable about music, and we felt totally happy giving him some free rein as well as making specific requests. The result was a wedding playlist that was totally "us" but better, including songs we didn't know we liked! I would wholeheartedly recommend Matt if you are getting married in San Diego!

Matt was everything we were hoping for from our DJ; the dance floor could not have been more energetic and packed and he was professional, authentic and never cheesy which was important for us. All of my vendors who had previously worked with him told us how great he was and they were absolutely right! He gave us tons of freedom as far as music choices but also had great suggestions, many of which we went with. He was also very flexible and did his thing along side a saxophonist who we hired to add to the dance party. His transitions between songs are seamless and he is the perfect addition to your team of vendors if you want a fun and memorable wedding!

Matt was the best!! He was professional and very thoughtful. We talked with him a couple times before the wedding to review the details, and he was excellent the day of running our music for the ceremony and cocktail hour. At the reception, Matt kept all of our guests dancing the entire night - there was never a lull in dancing! We would give Matt 6 stars if possible! His passion for his craft was evident from our first meeting. I've had friends from our wedding ask for his contact or if he made playlists that they could listen to! We have an eclectic taste in music but Matt kept a perfect vibe in each phase from seating to cocktail hour to reception to *dance party*. His professionalism and initiative took a lot of stress out of our planning (he was always ready to meet or even text about song choices if we had some new ideas). He also did a fantastic job as MC, especially for the reception and traditional dances, keeping it classy, inviting, and fun. I know DJs get tired after a couple years, but I hope that Matt will continue pursuing his passion for a long, long time because his attitude, talent and dedication *made* our wedding.

Planning a wedding from across the country was no walk in the park, but Matt made it easy and fun!! His amazing online system keeps you organized and comfortable along the whole way. I was able to sit at home and outline my whole wedding and the coordinating music with his online app that walks you through every moment in your wedding. In addition, he was always extremely easy to get a hold of, had an awesome grasp for what we wanted in the music, and an amazing knowledge of what would keep our friends on the dance floor. In addition, he recommended some great additional vendors for us to use. If every every vendor was as amazing and organized as Matt, wedding planning would be a breeze! :) Would use again for any event in San Diego!

Loved working with DJ Matt! We used him 3 years later after he DJd my sister's wedding. He was fun and easy to work with, played all the jams we wanted to hear and dance to, and really kept our guests engaged. He was very helpful too - if you wanted a variety of music playing, he really included you in the process to ensure we get what we want. He actually made my dreams come true with my wedding song in making it fit with the timeline and everything :)

Matt was recommended to us through a friend in the Wedding industry. The minute I booked my wedding date she told us we had to book Matt first thing. It was the best decision we made. He was easy to work with and took time to meet with us to get our vision for the perfect wedding dance part and then made it happen. If you want your guests on the dance floor Matt is your best choice! He was also awesome working with our tricky venue layout and suggesting the best lighting/sound options for us.

I cannot say enough how amazing Matt was for our wedding!!! We had a destination wedding, so we didn't get to have a chance to meet Matt face to face before the actual wedding, but we had many phone sessions with him in order to plan for the reception. He was always professional, on time, and asked all of the right questions and accommodated anything that my husband or I wanted. I was very worried about how to get things during the reception to run smoothly and how to seamlessly run through different parts of the reception (first dance, food, dancing, bouquet and garter toss, etc.) My worries were very quickly at an end because of Matt. We walked about the order and time of events on the phone, and I didn't even have to think about the order of events during the reception. Matt took care of EVERYTHING! He made things so smooth and seamless that the reception seemed to flow without a single problem!

I just want to say, if you are a huge Star Wars fan, do yourself a favor and have Matt as your DJ!!! We had a few Star Wars twists for our reception and Matt was so enthusiastic and excited for it!! He is a huge nerd himself!!! He had great suggestions for us on how to incorporate Star Wars music and even pointed out my R2-D2 socks when we were playing the shoe game.

Having Matt at the reception was my favorite thing about our wedding day. He is the best vendor I dealt with for the ceremony or reception. I had a blast planning the reception with him, he is a great person to talk to! My words really don't do him justice, he is AMAZING at what he does and he really worked hard to make our reception memorable and smooth! Do yourself a favor and have Matt as the DJ at your event, he will go above and beyond your expectations and you will not be disappointed.

I can not tell you enough great things about Matt! We just had our wedding 2/25/17 and besides my husband and I being so happy my guests were as well. Everyone came up to us to tell us how much fun they had and how great our DJ was. As I planned my wedding the only trouble I knew I would find is a DJ. I randomly just searched local DJ and Choice Entertainment came up. I looked at Matts website and knew immediately I wanted to meet with him. His website originally sold me. He explained so well about himself and how we likes to DJ for weddings that I felt like I already knew him and he would do exactly what I wanted. Upon meeting with Matt I didn't even need to decide anything, I said pull up a contract.

The process was so fun. Matt knows his music and got to know us as a couple and what we wanted for our wedding. We explained our music preference and the flow we were looking for. He was right on track as well. His client portal is so easy to do and helps a lot with planning. We sat with him to get an idea of flow and music choices from processional, cocktail hour vibe , and reception. We could go back and make changes as the year passed. We were able to request music so he had an idea of the style we liked and went with it.

As the wedding neared I met with Matt one last time to go over details. He looked at my music choices and was helpful on so many levels. He was able to edit some music choices to fit (father daughter dance) and select the vibe for cocktail hour using our music requests and same for reception. We also discussed lighting. DO THE INTELLIGENT LIGHTING. The lighting options are great and really pulled the ballroom together.

When I walked into the reception I couldn't believe how beautiful the lighting looked. As the reception began the music was on point! Matt has a way of feeling a crowd and adjusts music accordingly. We had a mix of guests ages and EVERYONE was on the dance floor. It was never empty. VERY HAPPY!

Matt was a pleasure to work with. He came highly recommended from our wedding planner due to his value, which was important to us. We locked him in about a year in advance. During the 3 months leading up to the wedding, we realized we would need his help for indoor lighting and sound amplification for our ceremony. Matt was very flexible and helped us get all of our needs met without breaking the bank. At the wedding, he was fantastic as well. Solid music throughout with a good dance party going. He also helped my husband think through some of our key songs, such as our exit and our "first guest dance song". I highly recommend Matt to anyone in San Diego!

Honestly, don't look any further if you're looking for a DJ - Matt is the BEST! From our first meeting, I knew he would be a great match for our wedding. He really took time to get to know us as a couple and exactly what type of music and vibe we wanted for our big day. One day he even took the time to meet my mom and I up in Temecula on a Saturday at our venue just to see exactly how many lights we would need so we didn't have to pay for anything unnecessary. We had such a blast hanging out with him!
My husband and I moved to Chicago before our wedding in San Diego so about two weeks before the wedding he had no problem Skyping us to go over final details for the wedding. I gotta say, our wedding day was completely flawless. Everything from the music to me walking down the aisle, cocktail hour and all the transitions throughout the evening was PERFECT. My husband and I were even saying during dinner how thankful we were for Matt!
Now let's talk about the dancing. From the start, I wanted my wedding to be a big, fun dance party. And let me tell you, it was!! I myself was on the dance floor for over two hours and our friends and family had a blast. It truly was a big party and weeks later (we got married 6/25/16), we're still getting compliments from friends and family by how awesome our music was. I can't express how truly grateful we are that Matt was our DJ - he really did make our big day perfect. The best part about Matt though, is that he really did become our friend in the process.
So if you're looking for a wonderful DJ and MC for either your wedding or big event there's no question - Matt is your guy!

My wife and I met with a quite a few DJ's while trying to find the right person to DJ our wedding. We are both music people and it was important for us to hire someone that understood our musical taste, as well as someone who didn't come across as the "cheesy wedding DJ" type. As soon as we met with Matt, we knew we had found a DJ who embodied what we had in mind and hiring him was a must!

Matt's knowledge of music is impressive. This came across in our first meeting when he dropped a few of our favorite indie bands, and we immediately hit it off! As we got closer to the wedding, we built or relationship and we were even able to seamlessly share our playlists via Spotify in order to get on the same page.

A few other things that impressed us about Matt: I wanted to surprise my wife by playing our first dance to a vinyl version of the song, so when I asked him if he could play records with his equipment because, he jumped at the idea. I also needed Matt's help to create a surprise mash up for the Mother/Son dance, which he was stoked to work on and definitely worked to get the party started! Finally, he threw an epic party without the distracting announcements or goofy games, which was also very important to us.

All in all, Matt was excellent to work with and was so excited to partner with us on executing our vision. He worked closely with out other vendors that night to ensure all executed seamlessly. The dance floor was packed all night! I would 100% recommend his services for anyone who's looking for a DJ who is a true music expert and who uses the music get people dancing, not his voice on the mic! His is a genuinely great person and we absolutely loved working with him!

We had a great experience with Matt. We hit it off right away and felt really comfortable discussing ideas. We discussed our musical taste at length and with Matt's input we ended up with an awesome playlist. The night of our wedding was perfect. The music really set the tone, kept everyone engaged, and got great reviews from our guests. We also opted for some lighting. At first we hadn't really thought about lighting, but ultimately decided to go with the up-lighting which really brought our venue to life. Matt is a good guy, easy to work with, detail oriented. He thought of things we should add to our wedding playlist that we hadn't considered, and helped us weed out some things that wouldn't have fit. He came prepared, his equipment was ready to go, and he kept the show running on time. Great job.

We chose Matt to DJ at our wedding cocktail hour and reception at the Catamaran Resort in November. He was perfect! I met with him twice throughout the planning process and loved his online planning system. It was great for setting up play lists (and maybe even more important, do NOT play lists!). He was excellent at understanding our taste in music and choosing songs to go along with that and also keep the party going all night long. Matt did an amazing job of keeping to the schedule. I loved that he is not "cheesy" (we hired a DJ not a comedian), is tasteful with his setup (no advertising on his equipment or handing out business cards), and was the perfect volume (you don't want to have to wear earplugs at a wedding). He is great at mixing to transition from one song to another before you get bored of dancing to the first song. People liked him so much, they even started dancing during the "dinner" music :) He designed uplights to perfectly match our mint accent color and set the mood for our nautical wedding and even took the time to edit a song for my father-daughter dance so the first verse merged seamlessly with the last chorus. We have gotten so many compliments on the music at our wedding and it is all thanks to Matt!

When we first met with Matt, we had a good feeling. He was very flexible with meeting up and easy to communicate with us. He guided us with everything we needed to know with extreme details about his roll and our wedding. He is very knowledgable with music and understands the overall picture of the wedding and guest.
Ultimately, my wife and I had a great experience with Matt. Our wedding turned out to be such a great time, and we had everyone dancing all night. After the wedding, we had guest telling us how great the DJ was and how much they loved dancing all night.
His ceremony set up and music was just perfect! Everything went as planned.

Working with Matt was one of the easiest parts of planning our wedding. We had met with some other DJs, but once we met Matt, we knew immediately that we wanted to work with him. His online planning tools made the process so easy and we had a lot of fun doing our final sit-down with him and working out the final details. Matt had never worked at our wedding venue before, so he also met with us to do a walk-through and check out the site in advance, so he would be prepared.

On the day of the wedding, he was prepared, professional, and ran a great event. He played great mixes of music, and kept the dance floor crowded. We could not be happier and could not give him a higher recommendation.

My wife and I met with a few DJs before we met with Matt. But from our first meeting we knew he was the guy for us. His passion and knowledge of music, his approach to being the emcee for our event and his planning process were a perfect match for our style.

He was fun, knowledgeable and full of great ideas. His planning process was great and he had a lot of great suggestions for us to consider. His energy and enthusiasm were contagious in person and via email; he was great to work with from day one.

Of course where it counted most was on our wedding day. Matt was there early, set up both the ceremony and reception site and everything was great. He worked great with our wedding planner and with our Officiant and everything went off without a hitch. Sound was great during the outdoor ceremony as he had the knowledge and experience to ensure his setup could counter the wind from a beach wedding.

The reception itself was GREAT! Matt kept things flowing and everyone had a great time. He had a great command of the energy of the room; settling folks and setting up the 'events' and keeping everyone on the dance floor for the rest of the night. He was very in charge in a good sense of the word to keep things flowing but you wouldn't know he was there from a loud-annoying way. He has a great balance for engaging folks but not making the event about him.

Most of our guests were still at the reception and dancing up until the end. There were many disappointed faces when last dance and time to say good-bye to the newlyweds was announced as everyone was having such a great time.

In short we can't recommend Matt enough. He is awesome and you'd be very lucky to work with him for any event.

Matt was absolutely amazing to work with. My husband and I hired him to DJ our wedding, and we knew we wanted to work with him from the first initial meeting. During our first meeting we realized how outgoing, friendly, knowledgeable, and professional he is. He had so many different ideas for our wedding.... from lighting to music to timelines. We could tell he knew his stuff and loves what he does. He was always very responsive and answered all emails and phone calls very quickly. While planning the wedding, I even hired him on the side to create a slideshow of our little girl for my husband for Father's Day. It was perfect and my husband cried like a baby.

Our wedding day was everything I wanted, and I know Matt had a lot to do with that. Our music was perfect, he was a great emcee, and the lighting was beautiful. We got married the week before Halloween so we gave our guests the options to wear costumes. Matt wore a suit to the ceremony and changed into an awesome costume for the reception. His energy got the party started and kept it going. To say we were pleased with him is an understatement. I would hire him for any and every event. He is awesome!

I highly recommend Matt's services. Not only does he have an extensive knowledge of music and knows how to get the crowd dancing, he also was accommodating to our requests. Music and having a dance party atmosphere was important to us, and the "vibe" of the DJ was also a priority. We were planning from the east coast so Matt accommodated an initial Skype meeting and two in person meetings as the date grew closer. He was very thoughtful and helpful in his suggestions. He was NOT a cheesy wedding DJ which is exactly what we wanted - someone contemporary, cool, and listened to our needs for our 20's and 30's crowd. He played a great mix of music all night long and kept the crowd dancing from the first song to the last song of the night. Highly recommend his services! Also, he was very professional, no cheesy "pumping up the crowd" moments just to hear himself talk like some egotistical DJ's often do - just helpful announcements to keep the wedding events at the planned pace. Matt was our DJ for our wedding on Aug. 9th. He is, by far, the best DJ I have ever experienced at a wedding. I know that sounds biased since it was my wedding, but I was not the only one to think that. Many people came up to us on the night of the wedding and told us how fantastic he was and how much they liked the music. Since then, we have had even more people contact us to tell us how much they loved the music. This would include everyone from my 20-something girl friends to my 60-something aunt to my friend who flew in from Japan. He read the crowd incredibly well and made my husband very happy with his song picks. When he noticed my husband and his friends putting on Ninja masks, he spontaneously played a Ninja song for him and his friends. He listened to our requests, played every single one, and made awesome suggestions of his own. We really could not have been happier with it all. Everything related to the sound went so smoothly and Matt's professionalism at all of our meetings and throughout all of our communications gave us the trust in him that we needed.

Matt also did a fabulous job with the lighting. It tied everything together, transformed the room and just made it look beautiful!

We highly recommend him to anyone and everyone. The DJ makes or breaks the night. Don't have yours break. Hire Matt and he'll make it the best party you and your guests have ever been to!

Matt did such a great job for our wedding this past June. We highly recommend him to all of our friends and family. Everytime we met with him, we were constantly getting amped up for our wedding. Great tip to add, use Spotify playlists for songs that you do want him to play at your wedding. The guests loved the games we played and the layout for our reception was awesome. I cannot say enough great things about this DJ! Matt is so passionate about his work. We used him for our wedding last weekend and he made the entire night flow so smoothly. I knew he was great because he did my sister's wedding 4 years ago. He goes over the timeline in great detail and makes sure every event happens as needed without being too intrusive. We gave him our ideas for music and themes and he filled in the rest. Each transition was perfect and I felt like I didn't have to stress about anything because he was on top of it! We danced most of the night and had so much fun. He also did our uplighting which made the ballroom look fantastic. I would recommend DJ Matt Phipps for any occasion (weddings especially)!

DJ Matt Phipps was referred to us by a family member of ours, and he ended up being the perfect choice. We were doing our wedding on a budget and as such we did not have money for a planner. Throughout the whole process Matt was extremely friendly and helpful in planning out our ceremony and reception. He kept everything on track even on the day of the event, and my wife and I were able to sit back and enjoy our day. His knowledge of music, and specifically his knowledge of wedding music, saved us! Everyone had a great time at our wedding, thanks in large part to Matt's skills in keeping the crowd energized. He was able to read the mood of the crowd and play the appropriate music. Matt was the first vendor we booked for our wedding, and he set a very high standard for the others. While Matt was extremely professional, he also made us feel very comfortable and at ease about our wedding by offering his ideas and input based on his experience. Matt really took our ideas into account but also guided us with advice that kept our day running smoothly. He also kept us on schedule during our wedding since we didn't hire a wedding coordinator. One of the best moments of the night was seeing my mom getting down on the dance floor...that was a clear sign that the music was fun and keeping people engaged. We love Matt! He did a great job at our wedding. We got married at a rustic outdoor venue with some pretty rough terrain, so we knew it wouldn't be the easiest venue to lug a bunch of equipment around but the sound went off without a hitch. The ceremony sound was great and the reception music was exactly what we had asked for and more. During the planning process Matt made everything really easy on us. Hands down, Matt was our best vendor choice for our wedding in Fallbrook, California. Matt came out to see the venue (it was a new venue for him) so he could map out his whole setup, which we found very professional. He MC'd our whole event, and spoke clearly, with confidence, and really made us feel like we had nothing to worry about. He worked with our day-of coordinator and meshed really well with the other vendors.

Our catering vendor literally threw our night into chaos. Matt's ability to quickly think and jump to action literally saved our reception from being ruined. He was coordinating with the venue staff, and other vendors, and orchestrated the necessary fixes to save our reception. In fact, most of our guests had NO IDEA that there were problems with the catering, all thanks to Matt. Without a doubt, Matt's expertise, professionalism, and sincere care about our day being just perfect for us, led to such a fantastic and memorable experience!

We have guests still talking about the wedding over a month later. Much of the talk is about the "party" that Matt kept going, seamlessly. We had a wide age range, in which all of them were dancing (16yrs old to 70 yrs old).

If you want a professional DJ that understands your needs and can offer great assistance in making your day unique and special, DJ Matt Phipps is an easy choice. I have since, and will continue to refer him to all of my friends and family in need of a DJ.

Matt is as good as it gets. My wedding on 10/6/2013 was a huge success do in large part by Matt's ability to provide great music for all age groups. I know it must be hard to keep your 60 year old guests and 20 year old guest on the dance floor but he managed this seamlessly. We had so many compliments on our DJ choice... he really made us look good. Matt is an extremely organized professional DJ. I cannot over emphasize his professionalism as he kept us on track throughout the evening. He has an ability to switch gears and tailor a perfect evening for your once in a lifetime event. Matt made our special day perfect. He is incredibly professional and easy to work with. Matt was able to work with us to fit our requests into a playlist that kept the dance floor full all night. He also made an effort to get to know us before the event, which really came through in his song selections throughout the course of the evening. He also provided an MC service, and effectively guided proceedings without dominating, only speaking when he had to and keeping the cheesy jokes to an absolute minimum. His equipment is all top of the line and the sound was great, with no troubles with feedback or tinny sounding speakers. Above all, Matt is a friendly and easy going guy, and not at all phased by the sillyness and stress that accompanies the big day.

I would strongly recommend Matt for any event.

Great DJ!! Matt was very easy to work with and made this detail of our wedding a breeze. We had very little time to organize music for our wedding and that was no problem for Matt. We met with him once in person and then one more time online to go over last minute details. We gave him few preferences for music and he took care of the rest. He helped make our reception run smoothly and had many great suggestions that we used to organize the reception and dancing. Matt is professional, responsible and talented. We takes care of and remember every detail (astonishing job given his busy schedule). We are (obviously) new to wedding and he gave many useful suggestions and advise which definitely significantly enrich our wedding. Our wedding slides was on a DVD which failed at play. Matt professionally took care of the crisis and, thanks for his careful planning, replay it using his backup laptop. The reception was a blast and it was so much fun. Matt is awesome and professional! We hope we won't need to hire him for wedding again (well, one wedding is suffice for our life) but certainly he is the best choice for your wedding!

I am soo happy that my husband and I stumbled upon Choice Entertainment. That is where we met our DJ Matt! What a handsome fellow, as well as personable, professional and well priced! We were pleasantly surprised when we met Matt. His energy level matched ours and immediately we knew it would work.

My husband and I we love to be the center of attention, however not like in "Da clubs!!!" Although we don't mind fist pumping here and there, but we wanted our wedding to be fun for everyone on all levels. Whether our guests liked the D.J, they loved the ceremony, or just liked the food, we wanted it to be about us and our guests, not some crazy loud music. And so Matt read into us as a couple and fed off of the energy of the crowd of what they enjoyed and steered in that direction. Without going too much into a certain type of music, but knowing when to let the crowd enjoy themselves :)

The thing that set me at ease was that, Matts site made it so easy to manuver over songs we wanted, we didn't want and songs that were a must to play. Both my husband and I picked a few and then Matt got an idea of what we liked and took it from there. The pressure was definately off of us!!

Last thing, it was very nice that Matt knew how take the lead with telling our guests what was happening next in our wedding. If we lost track of time, him and the "wedding coordinator," kept it all going smoothly. I don't remember talking about that in the meeting with Matt, but it was great that he took the initiative if he meant to or not!!

You will be very happy and relieved to have Matt be a part of your wedding/D.J. He definitely had plenty of experience for our wedding, that people still rave about it tillthis day even though it was 2 years ago!!

We went into our reception not knowing how much of a difference a DJ would make and Matt made a huge difference. He was so flexible with the changes in the timeline. During our reception he was able to read the mood of our guests and found different ways to get everyone on the dance floor throughout the evening. There was another wedding reception going on at the same restaurant and without a doubt ours was much more fun. People from the other party were actually standing in doorway of our reception and wanting to come over. Matt definitely played a large role. To turn a very traditional Asian reception into a fun party atmosphere is a difficult thing to do and Matt seemed to do it with ease. If you're looking for a DJ for any occasion, you can shop around if you'd like but Matt would be your best pick, hands down. From the user-friendly interactive client area to his ability to work with you and your guests, he made it all about us and in the end that's what matters.

When we were looking for a DJ for our wedding, we were really looking for someone that would play the music we love but not overtake the evening with a cheesy personality. Then we met Matt and knew that this was the guy. He was perfect! Very easy to work with. His interactive website is so awesome, we could put songs on the "no play" or "must play" list. From that he was able to figure out what our style was. He ran the evening perfectly. His music selection was just what we were looking for. He had the dance floor packed most of the evening. It is unfortunate, but the wedding business can be a real racket and there are a lot of crappy vendors out there that just want your money and this was definitely not the case with Matt. He is super organized and makes everything easy and stress free. He has a great timeline and lots of suggestions on how to plan your night so it is exactly what you want. I enjoyed every minute of working with Matt and am so thankful that we chose him. Besides the ceremony, the music was my favorite part of the whole wedding and we received many compliments from guests on the music. I would go as far as to say if you have Matt as your DJ and are pretty well organized, you probably don’t even need a wedding coordinator. Matt was so attentive during the night and even got us drinks when our wedding coordinator was MIA. He definitely went far above and beyond my expectations in a wedding DJ. He also does uplighting and custom gobo monograms for the dance floor. If you provide him with a color swatch, he will match the lighting exactly. You will definitely not be disappointed if Matt is your DJ and he will help take your event to the next level.

Planning a wedding from out of town can be stressful and overwhelming. However, the day we met Matt, we knew that he was the right guy for the job. He was very responsive with all of our questions and offered the best options to fit our needs and budget. He went above and beyond to work with us for almost a year before the event to make sure everything was going to be perfect. I did a lot of research prior to interviewing Matt and it all paid off. He was able to customize a great wedding plan for our particular needs. The day of the wedding, he was on time and ready to go. Everything went smoothly from the ceremony, to the happy hour, to the inside festivities. Matt made sure everyone was having a great time and kept everything on track. He played all our requests that ranged from Greek folk music to Dubstep and filled in the gaps with great songs that kept the party going. We could not have been happier with our decision and everyone had the the time of their lives at our wedding. Don't even look anywhere but Choice Entertainment, all the five star reviews don't lie.

Matt was the DJ at our wedding on August 20th, 2011, and we could not have been happier with his performance. Matt executed perfectly, keeping all of our guests entertained and keeping the whole reception on schedule throughout the evening, all at a very affordable and reasonable price!

Matt spent many hours with us during the planning stages, and was quick to respond to all of our communications in the very timely manner. Matt uses a web-based tool to customize the music and the timeline for the whole wedding, which was very convenient and easy to use. We were able to choose the songs we want to play and not play, as well as pick the music for all of the specific activities (processional/recessionals, garter toss, etc.) from the comfort of your home and at your own pace, which was very convenient. Matt has an extensive collection of music, and what he doesn't have, he was willing to get or use our own music.

Matt met with us several times before the wedding to discuss the specifics and work out the details. Matt also spent time with us to walk through the ceremony and reception sites beforehand to put us at ease and make sure no details were left out.

Matt has at his disposal high-quality equipment. He was able to set up his wireless and cordless system, including battery-powered speakers and wireless microphones for our ceremony and cocktail hour, as both of those were outdoors for us. That worked out perfectly. Matt also used uplighting at our reception to complement the decorations, which worked out perfectly. Matt also created and used a custom-made monogram which he displayed on the dance floor, which was amazing! Matt's sound system was also flawless, just like the rest of his equipment.

Matt also worked with us to customize toasts and accommodate some of our guests that incorporated visual presentations into their toasts. Matt stuck to our agreed plan for music selection, and played only the music that we wanted. He kept the guests entertained and the dance floor full of people throughout the night. We could not be happier with his service, and would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a very professional, knowledgeable, flexible, and affordable DJ.

Matt is a great DJ and we are so happy we chose him. We found him through our wedding planner and would recommmend him without any reservations. We were a little picky with our cocktail hour, dinner music, first dance (of course), but let him do his thing during the dancing part of the wedding. Our guests told us later that they enjoyed the music he played. Really nice guy too.

DJ Matt Phipps did a great job for our wedding this past November 2014! He was very responsive to emails and by phone and was always quick to address any questions or concerns. The online music list database was easy to use and definitely helped in organizing our playlist and itinerary. Very professional!

Matt was an amazing DJ. He helped us find music that worked perfect for our reception and was still able to smoothly work in our requests. We did a special (strange) song that was meaningful to us and Matt helped us make it great. The whole day went smooth from the ceremony, through dinner, our first dance, to cutting to rug with everyone.

Granted, I've only had one wedding so my basis for comparison is limited, my experience with Matt was absolutely fantastic. I can't think of a thing that I would have had him do different. I'm definitely a music snob, so I did provide Matt with some music. He played everything I asked him to, and filled in the rest with his choices, which all hit the bullseye. He had everyone dancing all night and controlled the crowd like an old pro. I would absolutely recommend Matt and Choice Entertainment to anyone getting married in Southern California (and beyond if you'd like to fly him out). Thanks for helping make the most important day of our lives so special!
