The Perfect Choice for a Winter Wedding

The venue was amazing. Easy to work with, great location, and the space was perfect. We got a lot of compliments throughout the wedding. Thank you Mark for making the process so easy.

    Beautiful Venue for a Wedding!

We recently held our wedding at Chief Hosa Lodge. We initially fell in love with this venue because of the look and feel of the place but later found many more reasons to fall in love. The process of signing up for walkthroughs and making reservations was a little confusing because of the Denver Parks and Rec Website, but their customer support staff is excellent and provide helpful and prompt information when you ask. Mark, the venue manager/coordinator/groundskeeper/overall great guy, was really fantastic to work with; he is very involved and you can tell he enjoys helping people and loves Chief Hosa Lodge. His recommendations for set up, decorations, timeline, vendors, etc. were indispensable and really made planning easier. The lodge itself worked out perfectly for our wedding. We opted to have the ceremony outside on the patio because the view is incredible and the reception was held inside. Our guest count was around 90 people, which felt like the maximum you would want and still be comfortable. If you’re looking for a mountain wedding we highly recommend Chief Hosa!

Chief Hosa Lodge was a great place to get married! It's in a beautiful setting, is affordable, includes tables and chairs, and the staff was nice to work with.

Chief Hosa Lodge is a beautiful venue and I would recommend it for brides who are looking for a non-inclusive, affordable mountain venue. The catch? It is part of Denver Parks and Recreation and a historical landmark. So, there are some restrictions due to that (no fires, no hanging decor on the walls, etc.) Jim, the head of event rentals at Denver parks and rec, was a very friendly guy and very helpful. Taylor, the caretaker at Chief Hosa, was absolutely awesome - funny and friendly.

I found Chief Hosa Lodge only about 6 months before my wedding. It is an absolutely stunning location and a beautiful venue. Jim and Taylor were both super easy to work with and very helpful. I was not there for setup or cleanup, but everyone there to help had nothing but good things to say about Taylor.

My husband and I went to several venues before choosing Chief Hosa. We loved it because it fit both of our personalities and vision perfectly. It is in a beautiful location in Golden, CO and is surrounded by trees and nature. The perfect background for our wedding ceremony and the lodge is perfect for the reception! It gives out of town guests the Colorado mountain feel without having to drive to Breck or Vail although we absolutely love Breck and Vail too. Logistically, this worked well. We had a rustic chic wedding and it was so much fun! The lodge itself was a good size for our 85 guests. It is a smaller venue so you probably don't want more than 100 people here. You could but it might be tight. Jim Johnson was great to work with. We had no issues only good things to say about Chief Hosa.

Chief Hosa Lodge - Now owned by Denver Parks and overseen by them for Leasing for Events. Remodeled Spring 2009.
In 2009, I began working with Jim Johnson on Leasing Chief Hosa for my Wedding on 09/11/10. He was very informative and helpful during the process. He was very good at getting back with me in a timely manner.
I met Jim for my walk-through with my Caterer prior to the wedding. Everything was simple and very easily accomplished.
On the day of my Wedding, Chief Hosa's representative, Kim, was on scene to watch over the Venue. She was Awesome. She was very polite, helpful, and thoughtful. The whole event went off with no problems.
My caterer I chose worked very well with Chief Hosa and I believe is on their recommended list ( Occasions by Sandy ) They were Awesome also.

Thank You to Jim and Kim ( Kimberly) for making my Wedding the Best.

We loved Chief Hosa Lodge! We wanted a mountain venue that was beautiful and secluded, yet close to Denver for the convenience of our guests and that is exactly what we got! The lodge has a large patio in front that is a perfect place to hold the ceremony, the view is absolutely breathtaking. The inside of the lodge is very romantic with arched doorways, fireplaces, hardwood floors, an intriguing vaulted ceiling and a beautiful chapel room for an indoor ceremony. The bridal room is connected (with seperate entrances) to the ladies bathroom, which made getting ready very easy. On our wedding day, it was snowing (in May!) so inside we created a human aisle that lead the bridal party and I into the chapel room to have the ceremony. It made our ceremony so personal and intimate, it was amazing. We comfortably had 100 quests, a buffet, a bar, and a dance floor with a DJ. One of the most appealing parts of Cheif Hosa was that you can use your own vendors (caterers, alcohol, rentals etc.) This gave us so much freedom to plan our wedding exactly how we wanted, that you can never find at other venues. The site coordinator Jim Johnson, was very helpful and easy to communicate with. He had lists of vendors to help guide us with the planning and was always timely to responding to our questions. Cheif Hosa Lodge is the most romantic and intimate setting to have a wedding at and I HIGHLY recommend it.

Chief Hosa Lodge is a part of the Denver Park system, but it is located on I-70 just outside the city. The building is cozy and rustic and really feels "Colorado" without being hours into the mountains. The staff were very helpful and professional. Emails were answered fairly quickly, although sometimes there was a delay getting a response (but it wasn't too long... just seemed that way as we were trying to cross off out to-do list!). We had ~65 guests at our ceremony/reception, and it was quite a tight fit, so although they can fit more people, it might not be advised. Also, with options to have an inside or outside ceremony, it's a perfect situation for finicky Colorado weather!

Magical venue. Perfect for our small intimate wedding. Wedding was all indoor, 40 total guests, venue accommodated this perfectly. We were married in the front of the fireplace in the room to the left under a beautiful original light fixture. The Chapel room was used a coat/boot room and staging area. Main room for dinning and music, room to the right for bar and food stations. Space is all connected with stone arches. The venue itself is historic and rustic and has quite a presence on its own. This is a good thing because it is a Denver Parks and Rec. facility no candles, nails, tape, etc can aid in your decor. I solved this by using over 100 battery fairy lights and candles and the existing 2 nails over the fireplaces. Was a magical effect as the venue simply needs to be accented as it stands on its own. Guests took a lot of photos of and with the architecture.
You must pull a permit and provide an insurance policy for the day. The staff walks you through it so it is not too difficult of a process. Take full advantage of your walk through and ask a lot of questions. Not a lot of flexibility but with imagination and determination this proved to be our perfect spot. Can't beat the scenery and location.

We loved our ceremony/reception at Chief Hosa but it was not without challenges. The location is great in that you get a mountain feel without the long drive and expense of the mountain towns (ie - Vail etc.). The hardwood floors, stone walls and arched windows provided the beauty and rustic ambiance we were looking for at a much more affordable price than other venues of the same class. The affordable price is for the venue only although they do have table and chairs you can rent. Your caterer has to be able to do all their cooking without a kitchen as only cold prep is allowed. We knew all that going in so it was worth it to us. The administrative staff at City and County of Denver were good during the booking process but communication from there left a lot to be desired. At the walkthrough the on-site coordinator told us how the rules they sent us at booking were not right and gave us the "real rules" and a stern talking to. He spent much of the walkthrough complaining about not having what he needed. For instance he told us what cleaning was required at the end of our event and showed us where the supplies were - that we were required to use those supplies but since he had trouble getting orders he may or may not have it for us to use. The evening before our wedding at the rehearsal he informed me the heat in the chapel was not working, the sound system had been acting up and over heating and he would be on vacation so a guy who didn't know the rules would be covering - could I fill him in!! I wish someone had let me know prior to the evening before. Thankfully things worked out (DJ brought his own sound system, our ceremony was done in the chapel before it got too cold and the new guy was not a problem). The men's restroom did turn into a sauna and everyone had to use the women's room but on the whole we got a lot of compliments on the venue and had the day of our dreams I would recommend this venue and am glad we had our wedding here!

We loved our host at the open house and at our walk through was greeted by the same friendly face but come wedding day we met a stranger and she was rude the entire night. The staffing ruined our venue unfortunately!

This venue is extremely outdated, and you will need to clean / dust before you can start setting up for your guests. Also, their staff will allow and ENCOURAGE potential customers to tour the venue while you are having your event! They stated, “It is okay to go see it and we can even enter the back door, so no one knows.” Imagine having a wedding reception or private event and having complete strangers walk through your event with tape measures! DO NOT RENT HERE!!! Decorating is extremely limited here per their rental policy and Denver Parks and Recreation will never respond to you within a timely manor (email or voicemail).
