From start to finish our experience having our wedding at CBF was fantastic! Shannon was extremely helpful, responsive, and knowledgeable about the venue and all of our questions. She also provided a list of preferred vendors which simplified some of our vendor options. The venue itself is so unique and versatile and an added bonus that you're also helping the environment. The beach, grassy areas, and dock provide multiple beautiful photo backdrops and the deck area was great for dancing. Overall, if we could do it all again we would continue to pick CBF and would recommend it to all couples! -

We had our wedding at CBF in early May and couldn’t have been happier with our choice! The natural beauty of the venue is truly unmatched—you can exchange vows on a private beach, enjoy views of the bay from the deck, and be surrounded by greenery throughout.
The location is also incredibly convenient—just about 10 minutes from downtown Annapolis—so it was easy for our guests to stay nearby and either drive or take one of our shuttles to the venue.
Most importantly, the staff was amazing. Shannon and her team were incredibly helpful and made the entire planning process, as well as the big day itself, so much smoother. Our wedding was not only beautiful, but everything ran seamlessly thanks to their support.
Our guests couldn’t stop raving about the venue—both during the celebration and afterward. Thank you, CBF, for helping make our day so special! -

We felt so lucky to have our wedding celebration and reception at CBF! working with Shannon was such a breeze -- she's professional, kind, friendly and was very responsive! The venue is absolutely beautiful, has plenty of different spaces to have your ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. They also provided alot of decor items that were in great condition (and def made our lives easier)! I will also say, we looked at pricing for about 10 venues and this was by far the most affordable. We couldn't have asked for a better venue and team to work with. Thank you, CBF! -

Incredible Waterfront Annapolis Venue
So happy we discovered CBF! We were set on an Annapolis waterfront venue and it's truly the perfect spot. The views and beachfront ceremony are so unique for Annapolis and beyond. We loved how we could really make use of the entire space – with our ceremony on the beach, cocktail hour in the grass, dinner indoors and dancing on the deck. Every portion of the evening had beautiful water views! The venue also has so many beautiful spots for outdoor photos. Lastly, Shannon at CBF was a dream to work with! She's professional, responsive, was so receptive to our ideas and really knows her stuff! -

From the moment I first walked through the venue we knew this was the perfect venue for us. It is an absolutely stunning venue that is so unique. We really lucked out with a 80 degree and sunny day the last weekend of October. All the guests were raving about how beautiful the property and venue was. We worked with Shannon to coordinate our day. She was so attentive, patient and crushed it. From the initial coordination meetings she was so detail oriented and perfectly executed our vision for the day. On the day of- she set up, kept the vendors on the timeline, cued the wedding party, kept a drink in my hand and put away my decor. I couldn't have asked for a better day of coordinator. I highly recommend CBF and Shannon! -

Amazing Wedding Venue!
The Chesapeake Bay Foundation was a perfect venue for our October wedding! Their staff was so attentive, the venue itself is beautiful and the amenities were all amazing. While we had beautiful weather, we were less stressed knowing if it would storm, we could hold our ceremony and reception on the covered deck. Our guests and us cannot say enough good things! -

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation Philip Merrill Environmental Center is perfect for any Annapolis couple! The venue is a gorgeous and modern environmentally-friendly building surrounded by greenery and overlooking a perfect view of the Bay, so you'll have that secluded feel while also being minutes away from downtown. It actually rained on our wedding day, which usually spells disaster but not for us! Instead of the beach ceremony, our vendors easily created a breathtaking ceremony space on the covered deck that kept us all comfortable and dry, while also keeping the beautiful Bay views in the background. The reception space was perfect for our 100-ish guests, and the dance floor was lit all night! The CBF staff was an absolute joy to work with leading up to and during our big day. We couldn't have been happier having CBF as our venue! -

The CBF Philip Merrill Environmental Center was our dream venue with stunning views of the Chesapeake, an expansive tented deck reception, and an honorable commitment to sustainable practices. We could not be more impressed with the staff as well as the venue itself. The preferred vendors were amazing and helped make our wedding day run smoothly, the use of the 31 acres of grounds resulted in some incredible pictures, and the use of both the indoor/outdoor components of the venue made our late October wedding day an all-around success. I would highly recommend the CBF venue to anyone looking to have an incredible wedding day on the Chesapeake Bay! -

Dream wedding venue
Chesapeake Bay Foundation was the perfect spot for our wedding. We knew we wanted to be married there the second we saw it. The nature was beautiful to be surrounded by and looks awesome in our pictures. The ceremony beside the water and under the shade of the large tree was heavenly. We loved that the “rain plan” was a good one so we had no worries about what the weather would be. The space really allowed for our guests to mingle throughout the evening. We also liked how it’s near downtown Annapolis but still is secluded. Highly recommend! -

A dream come true!
CBF was the venue of our dreams. We wanted to get married on a beach and have the freedom to design an event that would really fit “us”. No place that we toured even held a candle to CBF/Philip Merrill Environmental Center. They let you provide your own bar, and choose from a list of caterers, which meant that we were able to serve caipirinhas and pick a caterer who could design a Brazilian menu. We loved that the venue is environmentally friendly, and that our venue fee would help support the Chesapeake Bay.
Emily Blackman knew every contingency plan for rain, social distancing, etc, and helped us design a layout that would work in any circumstance. There is a big tree on the beach, which provides some shade during the ceremony, and the deck is spacious enough for tables, a bar, and a dance floor. They also provided some decor and a cornhole set, which was just an added bonus for an already perfect night. -

Stunning and Sustainable!
I started searching for wedding venues after my Fiance and first got engaged. I didn't know much about Maryland and stumbled onto CBF as a wedding Venue. As someone who considers themselves eco conscious I had to learn more about what this venue was all about. Then. I fell in LOVE! What isn't to love? A private Beach, an outdoor patio, and an organization with a mission to #SAVETHEBAY ?! There was no question after touring this venue that it was going to be the place we said "I Do" with a full commitment to not only each other, but the environment too. On top of that Emily was a pleasure to work with and everyone we have encountered at CBF has had so much energy and we have learned so much about Maryland and the Chesapeake Bay. We even incorporated many Bay Saving Items into our wedding details - like the ties, the masks, and of course the Oyster reef balls!! -

We are SO SO happy with our decision to get married at the CBF! It was the first place we saw when we started venue shopping and we fell in love instantly. The beach, the tree, the deck... it was all magical! We were originally planning to have a wedding with 125 people but cut it down to 30 because of COVID. Since the venue is pretty much all outdoors, we still felt really great about holding the ceremony and reception there and I would choose this place 100 times over if I could! We had the ceremony under the tree and cocktail hour on the beach. The reception was all outside on the deck and we didn't end up using the inside room for anything other than a staging area. Emily and the entire staff were amazing to work it and we loved that the fee goes towards the foundation! Another really great thing is that would can bring your own alcohol which ended up saving us a lot of money! My wife and I had our wedding ceremony/reception at CBF in June and were incredibly pleased with the entire experience. Emily Blackman was a superb events coordinator who helped us visualize each detail and answered all our questions. The venue is undoubtedly the best value in the area with a private beach and incredible bay views, guests were commenting on it throughout the entire evening. Fortunately we had a nice sunny day but having a back up rain plan that would be covered and still have water views lowered our anxiety. There are a number of delicious caterers to choose from (shout out to Be My Guest) that are very familiar with the venue and keep everything running smoothly. Absolutely breathtaking
We were looking for a place where we could bring in our own vendors (including an outside caterer) while also being on the water. CBF was everything we wanted and more. While admittedly we had a perfect weather day, it would have been beautiful regardless. Breathtaking views of the Bay along with open air decks allowing for the breeze to pass through and keep people comfy. The facility offered everything we might need (or at least space to house what we needed!) and they were environmentally friendly, allowing us to feel like we were able to give back just a bit on our happiest day. Beautiful Beach Venue and A Great Cause!
We absolutely loved getting married at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF) for our summer wedding! We got married on the beach and had our reception under the twinkle lights on the deck overlooking the water. Not only is it gorgeous, but the venue cost also goes towards helping save the Chesapeake Bay. The Venue Coordinator at CBF, Emily, was wonderful to work with and very responsive. The Chesapeake Bay Foundation was the perfect venue for our wedding. The venue is basically a blank slate and the bride and groom have extreme flexibility in layout, decorations, vendors, etc. The CBF staff was very helpful throughout the process and quick to respond to emails. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and all of our guests were blown away by the setting. The location is also extremely convenient to downtown Annapolis. We couldn't have asked for a better venue to suit our taste and style. Would highly recommend! -

Could not be happier that we had our wedding here. Great experience with staff. Beautiful location/views and great flexibility having the covered deck. It rained during our ceremony and I LOVED how the ceremony ended up feeling so intimate on the deck plus we still had gorgeous views behind us. On what could have been the worst wedding weather day of 2018 (the day of hurricane Florence), we ended up with the most perfect day and venue. Not only was this due to the sudden change in the hurricanes trajectory but also because of the amazing staff at CBF that stayed calm, cool, and collected while we worked through some tough alternative weather plans. This venue is not only one of the most beautiful locations on the eastern shore of MD but it has the greatest facility for an outdoor wedding. The covered deck is excellent for keeping people dry and shaded, and plenty large enough to house dining tables and a dance area. The beach front is perfect for a water side ceremony and you will get gorgeous photos no matter the weather. We loved every second of our wedding and that is a huge thanks to Emily and the rest of the CBF team.Chesapeake Bay Foundation's reply:

Emily was absolutely amazing to work with, gave great information, replied quickly, and alleviated all our concerns. She met with us many times just for quick walkthroughs or questions and replied quickly to all emails and calls. The venue is absolutely gorgeous and so serene! There are so many amazing picture and first look locations. We also absolutely loved how environmentally friendly the building was and many of our guests commented on it! The best part of this venue is that you have the freedom and flexibility to make it your own and add in your own unique style! My sister-in-law who just got engage is also considering CBF for her wedding after the absolutely amazing day we had! We had our ceremony at a church in Annapolis so we did cocktail hour on the beach and the reception up on the deck and in the ballroom. We did stations and were so happy with the results. There was lots of room for dancing and hanging out. We had 175 guests and it did not feel too crowded. We had a perfect day for it!

The coordinators Kimrey and Emily, were professional, easy to work with, and excited about supporting our wedding. They also worked seamlessly with the caterer and the rental company. You are the only wedding there so you can take your time and run the wedding as you like. Tent included in the rental fee which helped on costs.

Lauri Sent on 11/03/2011Chris Gorri is an absolute pleasure to work with at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. Our wedding reception was originally scheduled at another Annapolis Venue and then we caught wind through the rumor mill that CBF had pushed their construction project back and were once again accepting applications for Fall 2011 Weddings. Months away from our big day, we switched to CBF in a heartbeat. I'm not sure how much of a secret CBF is in the Annapolis area anymore, but I do know it is one of the best wedding venues in the area. The waterfront views are breathtaking, their experience in handling weddings speaks for itself, and you have the flexibility to use whatever vendors you choose!
I would highly recommend you talk to Chris at CBF if you are interested in your guests having a truly unique Annapolis wedding experience. And, like many other posters have stated, your rental fee/donation is going towards a great cause. Beautiful facility to have a wedding reception/and/or ceremony. -

Nat Sent on 05/19/2010We had our vow renewal ceremony at CBF in May 2010. I had been to a wedding previously at this venue and fell in love with it.
I had a challenge of planning this event when I live in VA and it was going to be in MD. Thanks to a fabulous caterer, The Main Ingredient, it made the distance hardly an issue.
I will agree, I was not used to paying a fee for just the use of the location. We actually chose to have our reception on a Friday evening and saved TONS of money all around. The location itself is so beautiful that you do not need much decoration to make it work. You know how every bride has a vision on their head of what they would like to have their day look like? Well, CBF delivered on every front. It is such a natural beautiful, romantic setting. But it also is a very comfortable setting for your guests too. By having your event on a Friday, you actually get the most bang for your buck because you have use of the facility from 3pm til 11pm. And yes, while choosing a site that is just "venue" only, you do have a little extra work to pick out table/chairs/linens, but I can't stress enough, if you have the right caterer, your life is easy! I truly recommend The Main Ingredient because they are used to working with this site and they know all the in's and out's to make your life easy.
This venue works best for about 100-140 people. We had exactly 100 people and you never felt crowed or too spread out either. Now, while the front of the building when you pull up isn't that eye pleasing, TRUST ME, when you walk out to the deck, you will immediately forget about it. Parking is wonderful and lots of it. You have access to your own "dressing" room or just a room to get away from and we actually ended up letting our band use that. It was great size though and would easily accommodate about 25 people.
I think the thing I liked best was that it was a private venue that we didn't have to share with anyone. Being able to say your vows on the beach and then come up to the deck and then dining room is so nice. Being able to stay in one location is really nice too and not just for the wedding party but also for your guests as well. It is also about 5 miles from downtown Annapolis and really close (about 6 miles) from all the hotels on Riva Road. Getting to and from is quite easy.
I highly recommend this location for your wedding or ANY event for that matter. I would be happy to share our pictures with you should you want.

Wonderful location, wonderful cause!
We had a May 2024 wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation, and all turned out wonderful. We had misty/rainy day and ultimately had to make the call to have the ceremony in the tented deck. It was still beautiful, and arguably the pictures likely came out better because of it! So moody and beautiful.
CBF was extremely responsive and helpful as we lead up to the event. We appreciated the ease as one less thing to worry about! It also felt wonderful knowing the funds would go back to the Bay.
The only thing I wish I knew ahead of time: For Saturday weddings, CBF will not allow access to the building before 3pm. No flexibility. While this ultimately worked out, it did mean with some of my vendors I had to pay extra to ensure set up was done between 3 and 5 (event start). This wasnt inconvenient enough I would wish we had another location, but it would have been helpful for budgeting to know earlier.

We loved having our wedding at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation. We were searching all throughout the east coast for our mini destination wedding, and we fell in love with this venue and Annapolis! We wanted to be married outdoors on the water and this bayfront venue ended up being exactly what we had been searching for. It is nice that you can choose your caterer from their approved list, but be prepared as you do have to bring in all of your vendors so it does take extra planning time and research. We were married on a really hot August day, so it was nice to have the covered tent for dancing and cocktail hour and the A/C room worked well for our dinner. We loved working with Emily Blackman, she was helpful and responsive and answered all of our questions over the phone or e-mail which was needed as we planned from out of state. The walk through was nice and the whole process was easy. I also felt better about the venue cost $$$ going to benefit a good cause and enjoyed being a #baysavingbride. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking for an outdoor wedding on the water, our pictures came out amazing and we did not need to spend much on decor as the nature/background is superb!! I loved being able to take our wedding party photos on the dock. -

Beautiful Waterfront Venue In the Heart of Annapolis
My husband and I recently got married at the Chesapeake Bay Foundation (CBF). It was a beautiful summer night - there was a light breeze all evening and the views were stunning. The venue itself is really beautiful and requires little decor as it's naturally gorgeous - lit and tented deck, nice hardwood floors, big windows, etc.
Shannon, the events coordinator we worked with at CBF helped us leading up to the wedding to ensure we had done everything we needed and then from there we just worked with a month of planner on our own. This was really nice and made things easy!
CBF has a lot of amazing vendors they allow you to work with, but they are strict in that you can only work with their list of vendors. It wasn't an issue for us and we loved who we worked with but something to keep in mind!
There are also very specific rules on when you can arrive, enter the building, and have to be out. A little more flexibility here would have been nice, but overall was not an issue.
My only real complaint is that we were told the beach would be groomed - debris removed, bird poop cleaned away, picnic tables moved, etc. This did not happen and there was not anyone on our wedding day to get it taken care of. They told us at our final walkthrough this would happen, so I'm not sure if it was just an oversight, but there was no difference in what the beach looked like from Friday when we did our rehearsal to Saturday our actual wedding day and there was a lot of little sticks and goose poop.
Overall, I'd absolutely recommend CBF as a wedding venue if you want to have a gorgeous outdoor, waterfront wedding in Annapolis and it's an added bonus that your wedding goes back to saving the Bay! -

Incredible venue!
You couldn't ask for a more beautiful site to have your wedding! We had our ceremony and cocktail hour down on the beach, and our reception under the deck tent and the inside room--plenty of space for food, drinks, table and dancing! User227048 Sent on 08/09/2009If you want to do your wedding you own way this is the place to do it. It's a stunning facility with a lovely beach back drop and amazing views of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. The fee to rent is a little high, but from what I've seen at other places, they don't have as many options for catering as this one does. We were able to pick and choose everything from our equipment rentals to the decor and saved $$ by providing our own alcohol. It takes more work planning at a site like this where nothing is included but two rectangular tables and the empty facility, but it was totally worth it! We had the time of our lives.
Note: Our biggest concern was potential mosquitoes during an evening ceremony, but the winds kicked up minutes before our ceremony and it was a great breeze. Chris said that it's usually breezy right on the shore like that, so no worries about bugs. Also, our wedding was on a Sunday and we didn't know until after we signed the contract that music must be shut off NLT 10pm. Keep in mind that when you rent your 8-hour block that you must reserve 1 hr after the festivities for clean-up too. -

I loved this space from the moment I walked up the ramp and saw the waves through the glass doors and windows. The building is beautiful and it's eco-friendly designation was a big selling point for us. While looking for a venue I knew I wanted to be near water and there a lots of very pretty locations in Annapolis to get that but not of them really stood out to me. However, at CBF, there's something about walking through the tall open foyer and onto the spacious wooden deck to see the beautiful sparkling bay waters that just hits you differently. The venue is truly special because you're not just experiencing a life milestone there, you get to support an amazing organization that works to save those very waters and local natural areas.
We picked this location not just for the amazing view but because it was really a one stop shop. We had our ceremony on the beach under the big tree that provided shade for our guests on the hot summer day. The deck served as cocktail hour and dance floor area (and is also big enough to have been our backup ceremony area in case of rain). Lots of my guest were very COVID conscious so we were able to split the dining tables five indoors and three outdoors.
I wish I knew more people getting married there just so I could go back and enjoy another party on that deck lol! -

CBF was the first venue we looked at and though my first experience was a virtual tour, my (now) husband and I loved what I saw! I wanted waterfront and my husband wanted rustic- CBF was a great mix of mix of both with the bay views and the rustic building! We looked no further and booked the venue! The events coordinator and staff were all super friendly, helpful and supportive during the entire wedding planning process and all the way up to our wedding day! All my guests commented on how beautiful our venue was and genuinely enjoyed their time at the venue and on the grounds.
