April Wedding

The Cherry Blossom String Quartet was everything we dreamed of for our spring wedding. We had them play for the ceremony and the cocktail hour. The music was beautiful and April was wonderful answering all of my questions prior to the event. I would recommend for anyone looking for a string quartet - they were amazing!

CBSQ was the highlight of our day!

My husband and I reviewed many DC area string quartets while planning for our wedding, and we were blown away with CBSQ’s quality and depth of repertoire. It was challenging for us to narrow down what songs we wanted to select for our prelude and ceremony because they had so many songs we loved! April was a joy to work with leading up to the wedding. With her help, we settled on a playlist that was so special to us, with a song connected to the college where my husband and I met finishing our prelude, and a segment of a medley from our favorite movie playing as I walked down the aisle. They played both absolutely masterfully. We received many comments from guests about how beautiful the ceremony and cocktail hour music was.

If I could relive one thing from our wedding day, it would be to sit quietly in cocktail hour listening to CBSQ play for the hour! They delivered a completely magical element to our wedding that I will never forget. Thank you CBSQ!

Such a fun and unique addition to our wedding!

We loved having the Cherry Blossom String Quartet at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour! We selected the variety of popular music, and our guests were complimenting the quartet the whole time. The quartet created a really unique and fun atmosphere for our wedding. They were very easy to work with and helpful in the planning stages. Thank you!

Lovely music for our wedding day

Cherry Blossom did a great job playing at our ceremony and cocktail hour. I really enjoyed their repertoire, and it was so special that they learned a song for me to walk down the aisle. Their music added a beautiful touch to the day, and we appreciated having them as part of our wedding!

We highly recommend Cherry Blossom String Quartet!

We are so glad we chose the Cherry Blossom String Quartet to play at our wedding ceremony! The music was so beautiful, and it added such a nice touch of elegance to our day. April was very accommodating and helpful throughout the planning process. We wanted the groom to process down the aisle to his own song (Maria from West Side Story), and April helped us figure out how to fit this into the processional in a way that flowed well. CBSQ also accompanied a couple vocalists to perform a song during the ceremony, and it was absolutely beautiful and touching, and one of my favorite moments from the day. We highly recommend the Cherry Blossom String Quartet!

Incredibly talented musicians with impressive repertoire!

We hired Cherry Blossom String Quartet and they were amazing! They were very responsive and organized leading up to our event. They have an extensive library of songs and played all of our requests beautifully! It made our evening so special to have them playing and I recommend them completely!

Highly recommend!

Highly recommend! Booking with CBSQ was easy because they were quick to respond, transparent with their prices and services, and answered all of our questions, which ranged from will they need mics (they don’t) to how does the flow of this song to that song sound? CBSQ had us fill out a brief questionnaire and provided us with lists of their repertoire, which allowed us to either choose each individual song we wanted played or feel comfortable knowing what sort of songs they would play under a category and just go with the category. We did a mix of the former and latter. Their website has many samples of them playing different songs, which was very helpful for choosing individual songs. On the day of our 70 person outdoor wedding, the quartet arrived promptly and looking dapper and didn’t miss a single cue. The classical ceremony music greeted the guests and seamlessly flowed into our chosen processional and recessional songs. The pop cocktail music provided an upbeat backdrop to the guests’ chatter. Overall, a terrific job and many thanks for sticking it out in the DC summer heat!

Definitely book CBSQ!!

The Cherry Blossom String Quartet was incredible and I would highly recommend them. They had the most extensive repertoire of songs to choose from that I found, were super easy to work with, and even helped me get a song composed so they could play it for me to walk down the aisle. I loved having them as a part of my wedding day and thought they made our day even more special. They are true professionals and I would book them again in a heartbeat.

Perfect Addition to our Day!

CBSQ is incredibly talented and so easy to work with! April was very responsive with all my questions leading up to the big day, and their planning document made it very easy to organize and choose all our music. So many of our guests commented about how amazing the quartet was and how their presence elevated the whole mood of our ceremony and cocktail hour. I would definitely recommend them to anyone looking to add live music to their wedding day!

Beautiful Music

Kristen and her team are incredibly professional, flexible, reliable and responsive. They were able to tailor a duo/quartet ensemble for our wedding at very fair rate for the high quality music and service that they delivered. Played beautiful music from a diverse repertoire, including Chinese music for our tea ceremony. Actually followed our songs lists. I highly recommend and would hire them again in a heartbeat.

Great repertoire and custom piece!

My husband and I really wanted to have some live music at our wedding, but didn’t want to go with a full band all night. We had been to a friends’ wedding that had a jazz trio for the ceremony and cocktail hour and had really enjoyed the warm ambiance it helped create to have musicians there at the start of the evening. So, we started looking into string quartets.

Cherry Blossom String Quartet stood out to us because of their incredibly large and varied repertoire (and the high quality sound files they had on their website for us to listen to). We were able to choose songs from movie scores and video games for before the ceremony (to welcome guests) and then a fun mix of pop music covers and jazzy or motown classics during the cocktail hour. One wedding guest who is a professional violist complemented the quality of the music!

We had a very particular song that we wanted as our processional that was not in their repertoire. Cherry Blossom worked with a composer to arrange the piece custom for us and it was so well done it really made the ceremony extra special.

Not only did they have a great selection of music played to high quality, but they were also very easy to work with and comparable in price to other options that we looked into. All in all, a wonderful experience!

Elegant Touch to our Daughter's Wedding

We are so thrilled we were fortunate to have them at our daughter's wedding. We hired CBSQ to play before our ceremony, for the processional/recessional, and for the cocktail hour. From 1st to last interaction, they were consummate professionals. They had wonderful ideas and selections to choose from, and we particularly loved that we could have more traditional music for the ceremony, and more contemporary songs for the cocktail hour. They were so talented and guests noted what an extra wonderful touch they gave the day. Highly recommend!!

Our Favorite Vendor!

CBSQ went above and beyond for our intimate wedding ceremony, including calmly working with us day of when the city forgot to block off their reserved parking, as well as being kind and responsive throughout our planning. By far the highlight, though, was the cellist performing alongside my husband’s best childhood friend in a Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper duet… our favorite special touch of the day and a stellar performance. Our guests adored the music selection of CBSQ and we continue to get rave reviews. Cannot recommend CBSQ highly enough, and would give them six stars if we could.

Beautiful Addition to you Special Day!

Professional and timely, CBSQ was an excellent addition to our outdoor garden wedding. If you can book, please do, you won't regret having live strings on your special day. It got a bit hot for my ceremony, and they wore all black so I'm sure they were toasty, but they still did an amazing job improvising when our order of ceremony didn't quite go according to plan:) They also do modern music, which is a cute touch. I will always remember hearing them play as I walked down the aisle. Thank you CBSQ!!!

Perfect highlight of the night!

Having Cherry Blossom Strings perform at our wedding was a true highlight of the night! Our guests kept mentioning how wonderful their performance was and how it created such an elevated ambiance for our wedding! We appreciated how perfect their performance was and it was easy to recognize the skill and care they took with their craft. Hearing their warm up truly made it all sink in and I started to tear up! Their repertoire covered all our favorite pieces and several we hadn’t even thought of. They switched between songs with ease during our processional and cocktail hour and set the tone for the evening. They were very communicative, professional, and the process of selecting songs was seamless. They made a magical night even more special and we are forever grateful that we had the privilege to enjoy their quartet.

We hired Cherry Blossom String Quartet for our ceremony and cocktail hour at Airlie, VA. They were absolutely amazing! The music was so beautiful and Sinbat was so responsive and helpful in answering all of our questions. They have such an extensive repertoire that most songs you might want to choose from, both popular and classical, they already have an arrangement for. I had always wanted to include Can't Help Falling in Love as part of our ceremony and their arrangement was perfect and made the ceremony so special!!

CBSQ did an amazing job with my wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. They were able to provide planning recommendations in order to ensure that the songs matched timing, etc. They were responsive and professional from the minute we inquired about availability. Their repertoire is extensive and they're willing to learn new songs (at a cost) in order for you to personalize your wedding as needed. It was so much fun playing classical music leading up to the ceremony, and walking back down the aisle to Don't Stop Believing. I cannot say enough good things about CBSQ!!

My orchestrally inclined friend helped me select Cherry Blossom String Quartet, and we couldn't be happier. Lovely music that added such class to our special day. We used them only for the prelude, ceremony, and cocktail hour because we had a DJ planned for the reception. They were very flexible in terms of the hours they were willing to work so it was easy to book them for only part of the time. They have a very extensive and varied repertoire and their website makes it very easy to pick out the music for the day. Their music planning form was very organized and made sure they knew all the important ceremony details.

these guys are amazing. I asked if they would learn the song patience by guns and roses for me to walk in to and my wife requested maybe I'm amazed by Paul McCartney. my only regret is not getting to hear all of the arrangements that we chose for them to play but only due to the fact that we had to attend to our many guests. overall a fantastic group of people

In planning our wedding we were really struggling with whether or not we needed a string quartet for the ceremony, or if a DJ alone would suffice (we were trying to be as cost conscious as possible). But let me tell you, this was by far some the best money we spent on the whole event. The CBSQ elevated everything about our ceremony and cocktail hour. They brought an elegance and class that really could not have been matched with a DJ alone. They offer a mix of both traditional classical music, as well as more modern contemporary listings -- all of which were crowd pleasers. I would recommend checking out their samples on their website to understand how truly amazing they are. We are still getting compliments about what an incredible job they did. If you are even *thinking* about having strings at your next event, I would encourage you to reach out to CBSQ! They really brought our wedding to the next level, and we are so grateful to them for that!

One of the less than happy parts of my wedding was that I did not get to enjoy and fully listen to CBSQ! What I heard, though, was truly wonderful and they truly contributed to a beautiful day. My officiant has played in many string quartets and had nothing but good things to say about the group (as well as many attendees). Erin was incredible to work with leading up and they day of.

CBSQ truly made the ceremony feel elevated, special, and fun. Would hire them again in a heartbeat.

CBSQ was absolutely wonderful. I can't tell you how many people complimented the ceremony music. Nothing but professional AND they accommodated a special request that I found sheet music for. We used the Cherry Blossom String Quartet to play at our wedding. They played during the ceremony, cocktail hour and lunch reception. The CBSQ has a beautiful and rich sound. I suggest going onto their website and listening to some of the music samples. Their repertoire is very diverse, ranging from classical to contemporary popular music. Erin was very responsive to all of my questions. The CBSQ played almost all of the songs that we choose and added a few others which we had not even thought of. I highly recommend using the CBSQ for any event in which you are looking for a quartet.

If you are looking to add elegance to your wedding ceremony, I cannot recommend enough CBSQ. I worked with Erin specifically and she was a delight from A to Z. As it was my first time hiring instrumentals for an event, she really took the time to walk me through the process and details. Although our ceremony was rerouted indoors due to rain (which I hear is good luck), CBSQ was more than happy to perform outdoors (not always the case!).

As for music, we selected a combination of classical (Bach, Puccini, and Schubert) and contemporary (Beyonce's Halo, Enya's Only Time, and the Beatle's Here Comes the Sun). Since our wedding was on a Sunday, CBSQ also performed the Game of Thrones theme song which was a hit with our guests who were missing that night's episode to celebrate our big day.

Both the music and the quartet's professionalism was exceptional. I couldn't recommend them enough!

Cannot say enough great things about CBSQ. We hired them to play during our ceremony at Woodend Sanctuary. We were looking for a quartet who had popular music in their repertoire. They had an impressive number of songs to choose from. Erin, who was our main contact, was so easy to work with. She answered all of our questions and always responded to email in a timely manner. They were so flexible when the weather caused a last minute change to move inside. It turned out to be a blessing because I was able to hear all of the songs in the prelude, which were awesome! So many of our guests came up to us at the reception and told us how much they loved the music and how it really added the ceremony. I would absolutely recommend them to anyone!

Cherry Blossom Strings was absolutely wonderful for our ceremony and cocktail hour music. They have an extensive repertoire and were able to perfectly set the mood, playing all the Disney and Rodgers and Hammerstein music I requested. Listening to The Sound of Music and Beauty and the Beast while waiting to walk down the aisle are two of my top moments from the whole wedding. Theresa Schlafly was always responsive with emails and their planning form was very easy to use and helpful. I only wish I had more moments in my life when I might need to hire a string quartet because I can't recommend them enough!

SEARCH NO FURTHER! If you are looking for beautiful ceremony music from a professional group that cares about fulfilling your wedding day dreams, choose the Cherry Blossom String Quartet. Theresa Schlafly, the main contact I worked with, was responsive and flexible. When I wanted a special piece of music, Theresa found it and the quartet played it beautifully during our ceremony (So beautifully I was brought to tears!). Guests from our wedding remember the quartet as one of the loveliest highlights; they added a real quality of class and elegance. I'll always remember that beautiful music as we said our vows.

CBSQ was so great. The memory of their playing Eine Kleine Nachtmusik as I walked down the aisle will forever be seared in my memory as one of the top 10 moments of my life, and their beautiful playing helped make it that way. They were fantastic to work with - Erin always replied to my emails in a very timely manner, and was very helpful when I had questions. As another reviewer mentioned, I unfortunately did not get to spend much time around their music, as I was taking pictures during cocktail hour, but my guests were very impressed and I think it helped to set a wonderful, romantic atmosphere for the wedding. Their prices were also very reasonable and competitive with others in the market.

What I especially loved about CBSQ was that they were their own company. A lot of the string quartets we reviewed when we were searching were hired as a part of a larger wedding vendor company, and that wasn't what we wanted - it just felt too corporate. CBSQ is their own thing, and working with them felt very homely and comfortable, because I was able to speak with one of the musicians herself.

Additionally, I loved the selection of clips they had on their website, as well as their large repertoire of classical music. They had so many beautiful options to choose from to make our wedding sound as perfect as we wanted. If you are searching for a string quartet in the area, you cannot go wrong with CBSQ. Just talk to them, listen to some of their clips, and browse their website - you'll be very much impressed and very lucky to have them be a part of your wedding.

We hired CBSQ for reception and cocktail hour music and they were incredible. We received numerous compliments from our wedding guests about the quartet (especially from my Dad), and although I was taking pictures during the cocktail hour, I absolutely loved what I heard when I was nearby. We asked them to play a mix of classical and modern/pop music and they were perfect and really fit in quite well with the overall vibe of our wedding. Also they learned a phish song for my walk down the aisle and it was beyond perfect. We had a bunch of phish phans in the bridal party/audience and they all approved of a job well done! A friend sent me a clip taken on their phone of part of my walk down the aisle - and I just keep playing it over and over so I can hear the song (and see all of my friends reactions when they figure out the song =) April was a pleasure to communicate with prior to the wedding and made everything super easy. April and the CBSQ did a wonderful job at my wedding this past December. My husband had requested a special song and she was even able to have customized sheet music created for us! We had them play at both our ceremony and cocktail hour. My biggest regret of the wedding was actually not being around more to hear they play, since I obviously wasn't there prior to the processional and got pre-occupied during the cocktail hour.

I would highly recommend them for any event or wedding. They are very talented and a pleasure to work with!

It was a pleasure working with April and the CBSQ! April was extremely responsive with every email and gave great suggestions for music selections. We also had a lot of people walking down the aisle and asked that they play three different songs, which they gladly did without any hiccups. Erin and Cherry Blossom String Quartet played the ceremony music at my wedding. It was flawless. I remember hearing the song they arranged for the bridal party processional and it brought tears to my eyes. I cannot wait to hear every song again on my wedding video. We had musicians from the Cherry Blossom String Quartet play at our ceremony in DC. They were timely and efficient throughout the planning process. The music was beautiful! We had them play traditional songs for our procession but our recession song was "Call Me Maybe." Our guests got a huge kick out of that!

We were so pleased with the Cherry Blossom String Quartet from our first contact to the actual wedding day :-) All correspondance occurred through April, who is a member of the quartet. You can listen to the quartet playing their music on their website, and April also sent us a CD to help with music selections. They play a wide repertoire of both classical and modern songs. April even wrote us a thank you note after the wedding and sent her good wishes to the new couple. They were fabulous. I was originally on the fence about having a string quartet for my ceremony because I thought it would be out of my budget, but my mom insisted. After looking at pricing for the DJ's extra hours the cost difference was minimal to get CBSQ and it was worth every penny. They made quite an impression on everyone and I received multiple compliments. They were very easy to work with and provide great suggestions to make the ceremony your own (they have a vast and varied repertoire). I would highly recommend them, not just for a wedding, but any occasion that calls for live music.

Love love love the Cherry Blossom String Quartet! They were so easy to work with and did such a wonderful job at our wedding. I wish I had been able to listen to everything they played but we had so many of our guests rave about them. I hope everyone of my friends books them for their wedding so I can hear them again and again.

The main reason I hired Cherry Blossom was because I wanted to have Journey for our recessional. Although I never got to really hear them, I know they were great. They played at my sister's wedding, and a friend's wedding earlier this year. Definitely worth it!

Excellent string quartet. Erin was incredibly easy to get in touch with and was quick to reply with suggestions/advice:) The planning process was very easy and all of the communication was via email and phone...very easy for a busy bride. Excellent variety of song choices. We had lots of compliments on our song choice as we walked out of the gardens as husband and wife (Coldplay "Clocks"). The ceremony music was amazing and we received compliments from guests for the variety of music played during the cocktail hour. Highly Recommend:)

My husband (then-fiance) found CBSQ and what an excellent choice it was. They added elegance to our ceremony and cocktail hour, were extremely professional and well-organized in the planning, and worked well with a friend who sang during the ceremony even though they only had a short time to practice with her pre-ceremony. We recommend them whole-heartedly.

The Cherry Blossom String Quartet really made our wedding special! I'm kind of a modern/quirky girl and I just couldn't find a piece of classical music I really loved to walk down the aisle to. I came across a group called the Vitamin String Quartet - they take current music (80s through todays hits) and perform them with two violins, a viola, and a cello - but they are not from this area and they record albums.

I was really thrilled to find the CBSQ. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle to The Beatles "In My Life" and I'm told even the grown men became a little glassy-eyed. I walked down the aisle to Coldplay "Yellow" - which ended up sounding so beautiful and struck a chord in my heart.

While guests filed in they played Journey "Don't Stop Believing", Somewhere Over the Rainbow, Freebird (all the guys loved it!) and many other well-known and loved songs.

The best part about choosing the CBSQ to play modern music with strings is that it made everyone more calm. I really think by hearing all these songs we knew the words to, both the groom and I were able to relax and enjoy the moment a little more. Organ music can be so harsh and Canon in D is so overdone. Check out their website and listen to some of their stuff. If given enough advance (and for a small fee) they will learn a piece of music that you would like to have played at your wedding.

BOTTOM LINE: The CBSQ is what I got the most compliments on and people are still talking about it.

AMAZING. I got SO many compliments on CBSQ - Julia was such a pleasure to work with. She was VERY responsive, flexible and SO helpful. The group plays so well together and the sound was incredible. The music made our Wedding a DREAM!

Love Love Love this quartet - they are awesome to work with and are so easy going. You tell them the songs you want, they do it. They are always on time and sound just beautiful. I had them play to my uncle singing - they only got to practice right before the wedding. They really did a great job, they have a great repertoire. As a wedding planner I understand how important it is to have good musicians and ones that understand timing etc.

Loved them and highly recommend!

I first found CBSQ online and was unsure as to whether paying for a string quartet for the ceremony was worth it. CBSQ allowed us to come and watch one of their rehearsals, during which they played a half hour of wedding ceremony songs. After that, we were convinced. They are an amazingly talented group and we really enjoyed having them at our ceremony. Having a string quartet added an extra level of class. They even have a special list of ceremony songs just for Jewish weddings!

There is no better music or value for ceremony music. The CBSQ was professional, fun, and extremely talented. I got more compliments from guests for their playing during the ceremony and cocktail hour. They were also extremely nice and easy to deal with. A+++!!

After having looked at several local DC string quartets, my finacee and I selected the Cherry Blossom String Quartet (CBSQ) primarily for their musical quality and wide repertoire. At the audition, their musical performance, our highest criterion, was wonderful, with excellent blending and dynamics. However, their wide repertoire allowed us to do something that we had not expected - to have them play for both the ceremony and the reception (including the dancing).

In addition to the usual selection of classical music suitable for the ceremony, they also have a wonderful assortment of both jazz, pop, and broadway music available. So we selected the classical for the ceremony, and they played some jazz and broadway for the hors d'oeuvres and pop and broadway for the dancing. (The true test of this is that lots of people actually danced to their music!)

In addition to being very pleased with the CBSQ ourselves, we received numerous comments from the guests about how wonderful they were.
I cannot recommend them highly enough.

April at Cherry Blossom was immediately friendly and easy to work with. They are true professionals about the whole planning process and of course, their music is lovely. They had a nice play list of non-traditional, but still beautiful wedding music and set a wonderful tone for our intimate ceremony. I missed most of cocktail hour, but they played through that and everyone loved them. Several people asked for their contact info for their future events, which is the highest praise!

Julia was very helpful during the year of planning. They had all of the forms prepared to help pick the music for our ceremony (which is a much bigger benefit than you might think). They did an amazing job at the wedding, playing both classical and contemporary selections. We got a lot of compliments, and would definitely recommend them for any event.

We are very pleased with Cherry Blossom String Quartet. They have a wide repertoire. For our ceremony they played classical pieces and Christian hymns, and accompanied our soloist. For our reception they played popular music — including video game tunes, which the kids loved. They were very professional, which gave us confidence because we didn't meet them until the wedding day. There were lots of compliments on the music from our guests. We definitely recommend them.

The Cherry Blossom String Quartet provides absolutely beautiful music for a wedding ceremony. I corresponded primarily with Erin Ryan, and she was always very quick in responding to my questions. My husband and I met with her in person before we signed a contract with her company, and she was very professional and thorough in making sure she knew exactly what we wanted for our ceremony. The guests raved about how wonderful the quartet was, and as I was walking down the aisle, I was smiling from ear to ear as I heard their wonderful music! I am so glad I found the Cherry Blossom String Quartet and used them for my wedding day. It certainly was a great addition to the ceremony, and they are worth every penny!

We booked the Cherry Blossom String Quartet for our ceremony music and I highly recommend you do the same! Their selection of music is so great, especially if you want to go with something that isn't very traditional. Erin was very responsive to all my questions. On the day of, their music was just perfect and made the ceremony so special.

I communicated with Erin only through email to finalize time and music selections. She's very responsive through email and was helpful in helping choosing the music for my ceremony. CBSQ has a very helpful website that lists their repertoire and also provides sound bites. They were very professional and the music sounded great.

Cherry Blossom Strings did a great job providing the music for our ceremony. They set the tone as guests arrived, did an amazing job playing for the ceremony, and then got the cocktail hour started with some fun, upbeat songs. They were very professional the entire time we dealt with them, and we knew we were in good hands. They are clearly very experienced with weddings, and they made some great suggestions for us. Overall, we loved the effect the string quartet had, and they are the best around. Highly recommend!

Another great vendor - CBSQ did a wonderful job playing for our ceremony and cocktail hour. I didn't have a chance to interact with them during the wedding, but the music was great and they were extremely professional. The band leader was very helpful prior to the wedding, helping me select music. Highly recommended.

Cherry Blossom String Quartet was great. They were our lowest maintenance vendor. You have a few conversations up front and they will assist you with planning the ceremony music as much or as little as you want. They are very responsive and on the day of the wedding you don't even need to worry about them... they will come and set up and play beautiful music and then be gone!

I would highly recommend this vendor for ceremony music.
