Derek and his team at Chase Images were an absolute dream to work with from start to finish! We first reached out to Derek about a year and a half before our wedding, and right from that initial conversation, he immediately put us at ease and gave us complete confidence that we were in good hands. He was transparent about his pricing and packages, and what impressed us most was how genuinely interested he was in getting to know us. Rather than jumping straight into costs, Derek spent over 30 minutes on our initial video call asking thoughtful questions about us, our relationship, and our vision for the day. He was always ready to answer any of our questions, big or small, and it was clear from the beginning that he truly cared about telling our story.
We were looking for a documentary-style photographer with an artistic, moody aesthetic, and Chase Images was the absolute perfect match. We decided on "The Forbes Collection" wedding package and were thrilled that it included an engagement shoot. During our engagement session, we met Derek's wife, Laura, who helped with posing and made us feel completely at ease in front of the camera. The session was relaxed and fun, giving us the opportunity to build a real connection with both of them before the wedding day. When we received our engagement gallery, we were blown away. Derek captured our personalities, our relationship, and the exact style we had envisioned, which made us even more excited for the wedding day.
As our wedding approached, Derek went the extra mile by joining us for a walk-through at our venue, Heinz Hall for the Performing Arts, to plan out the photography flow and discuss the timeline.
On our wedding day, Derek was joined by Laura and his second photographer, Jason. Since we were getting ready two floors apart, Jason stayed with me and my groomsmen while Derek and Laura photographed Emma (the bride) and the bridal party. Their teamwork made everything feel completely seamless. At no point did they make us feel rushed or overly directed. Instead, they created a fun, collaborative atmosphere that allowed us to simply enjoy every moment. Because of all the time Derek invested beforehand, he and his team genuinely felt like close friends rather than vendors. Their positive energy was contagious, and it was obvious they truly love what they do.
Even though it was Derek's first wedding at Heinz Hall, you never would have known. It was incredible to watch him creatively use the space, especially when we were fortunate enough to receive permission to photograph on stage! One of the biggest highlights came midway through the reception, when Derek and Jason surprised us with printed, "Polaroid-style" photos they had taken of us that very day! We were blown away by such a thoughtful touch, which was a true testament to their incredible level of professionalism and care.
The post-wedding delivery was just as exceptional. Just a few days after the wedding, Derek sent us a preview gallery of 45 images, and we couldn't stop looking at them! About six weeks later, we received our full gallery of 833 photos, and we were speechless. Every important moment, from the ceremony and portraits to candid interactions and the energy of our guests, was beautifully documented. Every image felt artistic without looking over-edited and perfectly reflected the style we had envisioned. Looking through the gallery felt like reliving the day all over again.
We cannot recommend Derek and his company Chase Images highly enough. His talent, professionalism, creativity, and genuine care exceeded every single expectation. Hiring them was one of the absolute best decisions we made for our wedding, and we can confidently say Derek has officially become our family photographer for years to come! -

Derek and his team were amazing!!! He truly went above and beyond by bringing extra team members to our wedding to capture every important moment. Every person on his team was friendly, enthusiastic, and FUN to work with. Even the most camera shy person will feel comfortable in front of his lens. He fully captured our vision to showcase the city of Pittsburgh for our engagement shoot and allowed us to get some photos with our dog. His editing is timeless and sharp. He was prompt responding to emails and worked with our busy schedule leading up to the wedding. Thank you to Derek and his wonderful team for capturing memories for us! -

My husband and I chose to hire Derek with Chaseimages for our wedding photos and we're so glad we did. From the start, Derek was a great communicator and quick to respond to any concerns or questions we might have had. During our engagement photos session he got to know us and really listened to what we were looking for. We got all of our engagement photos back in a few weeks, but he gave us 10 great ones within a few days because he knew we wanted to send out save the dates soon. On the wedding day, Derek was professional, good at keeping everyone calm but also on schedule, and captured magnificent shots but was never in the way of anything going on. His second shooter was also fantastic. Derek was shooting photos for our wedding for almost 12 hours but the next day he still shared with us 12 awesome pictures, and that was so fun to be able to share immediately with our friends and family. He also got us our entire edited wedding album just 2 and a half weeks after our wedding. I would recommend him in a heartbeat to anyone getting married! -

I worked with Derek at two weddings this past year. Before meeting him, I looked him up online to view his work and connect. Derek was super quick to respond and I was blown away by his photos. Some photographers just have an eye to get the perfect shot- and that's exactly the case with Derek. Every single picture just makes you stop and look. It's a complete art form! Highly recommend him because of his talent, and he has an amazing personality to back it up. -

Derek Dibrell of Chase Images was absolutely effortless to work with for our engagement photos. We would have loved to work with him for our wedding as well if we weren't going out of state (although he does travel!). Processing the contract was simple; a completely online process. He was flexible in scheduling, which is important with how busy our schedules are. My fiance and I don't know Pittsburgh well, so Derek helped us pick a location by sharing pictures from some of his previous shoots at locations that aligned with what we were looking for. Again... so EASY! On the day of, he already had done research and knew exactly where around the park he wanted to get what pictures. He posed us in natural ways and took any thinking or insecurity out of it for us. The shoot was quick and efficient, while still delivering a large quantity of high quality images to choose from. His editing was clear and timeless. We wanted to avoid anything trendy and we got exactly what we were looking for. We are THRILLED with how everything went with Derek. -

Derek Dibrell of Chase Images is a visionary photographer. He traveled to D.C. for both our engagement photo session in the fall of 2018 and our wedding in April 2019 from Pittsburgh, PA, and came up with some really unique and just stunning photographs that helped capture the day(s) in an artistic and genuinely lovely way. He also made sure that we got all the standard, posed photos we needed with our family and friends. We are thrilled with how all our photos came out, and that we have so many incredible shots to choose from. Derek is kind, flexible, and helps make you feel at ease! It was a pleasure to work with him, and we highly recommend. -

Lisa Sent on 10/09/2016Derek was great to work with! He was very flexible with what settings we wanted and what shots we wanted. He even scoped out our event center and area to have an idea of shots. We were out of the country for a few months before the wedding so Derek agreed to do the engagement session after the wedding! He's very responsive and attentive to what you are looking for! -
Lainey Sent on 10/09/2017Derek has a great eye for composition and variety and he is professional and flexible. Our day went very smoothly, he communicated well with us prior to the event, and was able to accommodate our timeline and wishes throughout the day. Super flexible, very polite, and well-dressed for the occasion! We found our finished gallery to be consistent and well-edited. Our venue was unique and low-budget, but the images that Derek turned around made our perfect day look like a high-end affair that belonged in a magazine! The pricing is comparable with professional photographers in our geographical region and we felt we got a fair value. I do have a few remarks that we found in our experience with Derek:
Finished images timeline: You’ll get a sneak peek image, and then the contract says 4-6 weeks for a finished gallery. Ours took 7 or 8 weeks. Derek does not only do wedding photography, he enjoys other photography as well, so you may see some of those peppered in with his social media posts prior to receiving your edited images, as was the case with us.
Derek’s second shooter on our big day was a gentleman named Chris, who is also super talented! You’ll be lucky with any second shooter Derek chooses to work with, as you can clearly see from his portfolio that all of his second shooters fit SEAMLESSLY into his photography/editing style. Due to the all-male-shooting-duo, however, we didn’t get any feedback regarding aesthetic details while we were shooting --in some images I feel like my face could have used a blotting sheet, in other posed images I didn’t feel as though we hit the right angle/pose for a flattered silhouette. These are obviously nitpicky items to me-- did not affect the majority of our shots.
Otherwise, we found no issues with Chase photography and I would certainly recommend them to any bride in the area who wants beautiful, timeless images. Our gallery perfectly captured our happiness and we will cherish our images for as long as we live. -
