We are so unbelievably happy that we chose Joan to officiate our wedding!! She was professional, on top of everything, and really went out of her way to make sure everything about the ceremony was exactly the way we had envisioned it. Our custom love story she created was beautiful and we wouldn't have changed a single thing about our ceremony with her. We would highly recommend her to anyone looking for a wedding officiant!! -

Caring, Detailed - Creates Amazing Ceremonies!
Joan was such an important part of our wedding day and ceremony! She wrote us the most beautiful ceremony and made it one of the most memorable parts of the day for us. She is truly such a special person and values her time with the couples that she works with. She puts great thought and care into capturing what makes the two of you special and shares that with the group in attendance at your special day. We would not have chose anyone else to work with or have had anyone else marry us. Joan is amazing! -

Joan was wonderful. We were struggling with our wedding plans amid the pandemic and she helped ease our anxiety as soon as we met her. She really got to know us and incorporated so much of both of our personalities and personal stories into our ceremony. My aunt was supposed to be our officiant but the pandemic and cancer (she's ok!) had other ideas. Joan worked with us to figure out how to still incorporate my aunt into the virtual ceremony and even had her on FaceTime on her cellphone for the opening message. We are so grateful to have found her and she was such a calming aspect of our crazy pandemic wedding. -

Joan was the perfect fit for us. After having a difficult time finding an officiant who would do the ceremony like we wanted, we were able to find Joan! She was amazing to sit down and talk to. So easy to open up to. We wanted something shorter and not religious and something that just flower and emphasized on our relationship and our love for each other and Joan did exactly that. The ceremony was perfect. I think about it a lot because I just love how happy we were and how much love I felt in that room. I would recommend Joan to do anyone’s ceremony because she makes it for what you want and what kind of couple you are. The ceremony was everything I could ask for and more! -

Couldn't Have Dreamed of a Better Ceremony
My now-husband and I have nothing but good things to say about our experience working with Joan as our officiant. When the pandemic took over our original wedding plans, Joan was continuously flexible with our what seemed like never-ending changing of plans. She offered us support when we needed it, and when we were stressed out, she reminded us why we were planning a wedding in the first place - to become husband and wife. Leading up to our wedding, Joan worked with us over video calls, where she would ask us questions about our love story and our expectations for our marriage and translating this information into a truly customized ceremony script. Joan even had worksheets and examples for us to refer to when it came to vows, ring words, and the marriage address, so we could choose wording and passages that resonated the most with us and our personal style. Joan ended up officiating our ceremony in an intimate outdoor setting with our closest family and friends. At the end of the ceremony, each of our guests told us they loved and appreciated how personal the ceremony felt and what an excellent job Joan did! Because of the unusual circumstances, we will now be holding our postponed reception in 2021, and we plan on working with Joan again to put together a "vow renewal" type of ceremony for all of our friends and family who were unfortunately unable to be there to witness our vows this year. We are already looking forward to another opportunity to work with Joan! -

Planning a wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic had many moments of uncertainty. Joan helped us through many moment of uncertainty and was willing to create the perfect wedding ceremony regardless of the ceremony changes we might of needed to make. Joan met with us various times to review our ceremony, she offered suggestions on what she thought would be best, and made sure the items that were important to us were included. Joan also ran our rehearsal which was fabulous, she really took the lead to ensure everyone felt comfortable and knew their role for the day. We received many compliments regarding our ceremony! It was a remarkable day and Joan made our ceremony a moment we will cherish forever. I highly recommend Joan for your wedding ceremony! -

The perfect person to be apart of your special day!
Joan was absolutely amazing! We couldn’t have asked for a better officiant for our wedding. I found her on Wedding Wire and read through the comments and all I could see was positive feedback. Little did I know that everything I read was true! She took the time to get to know us and to find out what our vision was for our ceremony. Not only was she helpful with our ceremony planning, but when the Coronavirus ruined all our original wedding plans, Joan was there to offer her flexibility and friendship during that frustrating time. She was a complete stranger to us but was so caring and sweet through all of it that it felt like she was a good friend of ours by the time our wedding did take place. She made our special day perfect, more than we could have imagined. We can’t thank her enough for her flexibility and kindness. Joan truly is a wonderful and professional officiant, you will not go wrong picking her to be apart of your special day! -

Joan did such an incredibly beautiful job with our wedding ceremony. She made sure to meet with us before our wedding to get to know us and to make sure she delivered a speech that felt personalized to our relationship. Joan also ensured that we were able to review her speech ahead of time to make sure we felt very happy with it. She delivered the ceremony in a very genuine manner that never felt rushed and she also helped us to feel comfortable being in front of everyone. Her speech was beautifully written and so many people came up to us afterwards and told us that it was one of the best ceremonies they had been to. We highly recommend working with Joan! -

Working with Joan was a pleasure! She was accommodating and fun to work with to make our ceremony ours. Joan was absolutely amazing! She was so easy going and took the extra time to truly get to know us. Taking that time allowed her to write a beautiful ceremony about us. Wonderful Wedding Ceremony Officiant in Lake Geneva
My fiance and I wanted to have a very intimate wedding (this was our 2nd after 16+ years) with immediate family and closest friends. We both agreed on a non-denominational ceremony, but still wanted it to be meaningfull, filled with gratitude and spirituality. I spent a great deal of time reading reviews of wedding officiants and was referred to Rev. Joan Fergus. Rev. Joan was exactly what we were looking for. She met with us pre-wedding to get to know us as a couple, our history, our love story. From there, she helped us work on our vows and continued to communicate with us as needed up until our wedding day. Through this process we developed a very comfortable and warm rapport with Rev. Joan. As a result, it felt like a friend was officiating at our wedding. Our ceremony was everything we hoped it would be, the heart of our wedding day, with Rev. Joan making it heartfelt, meaningful and spiritual. Following the ceremony, many of our family and friends shared that this was one of the loveliest wedding ceremonies they have ever attended. Thank you Rev. Joan for making our special day unforgettable! -

Our ceremony which Joan wrote wasn't your everyday wedding ceremony, it was our story, written with care and our history, letting our family and friends know how we became a couple, fell in love, and what we hoped for our future. Joan wanted to know us first, to know what our marriage meant to us, and how our families would want for us too. She wrote and delivered a ceremony that was personal and made everyone that witnessed it feel our love and commitment to each other. It could not have been any better! She took great care in listening to what we wanted in a ceremony and explaining to us what our vows would truly mean. Many of our family and friends said they never had been to a wedding where the ceremony was so personal and enjoyable too! Joan put us at ease with each step in our planning. She communicated well with us on the phone and through email and came to our home, which made it easier and more comfortable to talk about what our needs and wants were. By the time the wedding day had arrive, we considered Joan not only our Reverend, but our friend. If we could relive our wedding, we wouldn't want it any other way and we wouldn't want any other personal marrying us. Joan created a beautiful ceremony and memories for us that we will always cherish! -

The best decision!
Choosing Joan as our officiant was one of the best decisions we made when planning our wedding. She made the process easy and enjoyable. It was really special to plan out what we wanted to say to each other and walk her through our story together. She put in a lot of time and really cared about making our ceremony special and she had a lot of great ideas and guidance. We got so many compliments on how beautiful our ceremony was. It was important to us to select someone who could customize it to be exactly how we envisioned and not just use someone required by the church or ceremony venue. And it was perfect. Thank you Joan for for giving us such a beautiful day! -

Super accommodating despite venue change!
Reverend Joan married my husband and I in June and we were happy to have her! Despite a last minute venue change the week of our wedding, Joan was cool, calm, and collected and helped run a smooth rehearsal and ceremony! We loved that we met Joan before the big day and were able to plan out everything for the ceremony beforehand, it helped reduce a lot of stress! -

Exceptional Officiant
My husband and I were a little nervous about finding an officiant for our wedding. Every wedding that we had been to in the past involved someone the couple knew or became extremely religious. Our goal was to find someone who would seek to understand us and could tell our love story in a beautiful way. Joan exceeded our expectations! We talked over the phone to get to know one another and enjoyed how approachable and friendly she was. She shared some of her background with us and inquired about our relationship. Speaking with her felt easy. I didn't know what to expect when we were told to complete paperwork about our thoughts on marriage and our love story. We thoroughly enjoyed the experience (even though it intimidated my husband a little bit haha) and it made us feel valued. We met with Joan in person to go over all of the details and she helped guide us in the right direction. She had a large selection of excerpts to be used and the ceremony seemed to write itself! My husband and I had quite the tale to tell and Joan worked incredibly hard to put everything into an intriguing story for our guests to hear. We couldn't be more pleased with all of her efforts to prepare our ceremony and execute our matrimony. Everything about it was truly lovely and I'm told that our guests were very touched by her words as well. If you're looking for someone to add a personal touch to your ceremony, Joan is right for you! She pays attention to all of the little details and will give you the unique experience that you deserve. We thank you for everything that you did for us and wish you all the best! :) -
