I am a 1st time bride who had no clue how to even begin but the entire team at the Cedar Rapids Collins rd location were absolutely amazing they were incredibly helpful,reassuring,and patient with me! They answered the many questions I had and gave advice and recommendations that made my wedding day wonderful!!! I can not thank Katherine Ferguson and the staff there enough-you made my wedding memorable and amazing!!

Outstanding!

Kerry and the Marriott team are wonderful to work with. So much fun! You will not regret choosing the Marriott to host your cocktail and reception for your big day. Our guests were very pleased with the food, service and hospitality and hotel accommodations all there at the hotel. If we have the opportunity again to host another event, we will for sure want to work with Kerry!

Wedding Reception

My husband and I had the BEST experience working with the Cedar Rapids Marriott. Kerry Brewer is incredibly helpful, experienced, and knows exactly how to make your event run smoothly. The rest of the staff was exceptional from the food to bartenders to banquet captains. I am so happy I chose the Marriott!

Great experience!

had my wedding reception at the Marriott and we had so much fun! They were extremely flexible with us and willing to work with us. We had our own decorations for our Halloween wedding and they set them up for us and made it look amazing. The staff was awesome and responsive to all our needs and the needs of our guests. I would recommend the Marriott to anyone who needs a venue for anything, they are awesome!

Great experience!

I had my wedding reception at the Marriott and we had so much fun! They were extremely flexible with us and willing to work with us. We had our own decorations for our Halloween wedding and they set them up for us and made it look amazing. The staff was awesome and responsive to all our needs and the needs of our guests. I would recommend the Marriott to anyone who needs a venue for anything, they are awesome!

Wedding Review

My sister got married 3 years ago at the Marriott, and I knew that when I were to get married that would be the place! I didn't have to think twice about reaching out to Kerry Brewer to set the date of our reception! I have been beyond blown away by the amazing service and attention to detail that was shown for my special day. I could not thank everyone at the Marriott enough for making our day so beautiful. The whole process was easy, simple and went so smoothly it didn't feel like planning at all!

Organized and beautiful!

The Marriott was the perfect venue for our daughter’s wedding reception. They do everything for you! The price is great, they are easy to work with, it was set up to our desire, and there were absolutely no problems! We had a blast!

Such a Lovely Reception!

Kerry and her team at the Cedar Rapids Marriott did an outstanding job with our daughters wedding Feb 9th, 2019. She worked with our ideas, but gave valuable input that made them even better. The guests raved about the food and atmosphere. And they took care of everything! It was so nice not having to worry about set-up, clean-up, etc. We wouldn't change a thing. Merry and her team was very quick to respond to any needs we had throughout the entire process. Professional and very friendly staff to help ensure a perfect event. The half ballroom looked absolutely amazing and they way it was decorated and put together was amazing and it flowed well. Meal was fantastic and everyone got their meal quickly. The way the food was served was amazing and it felt like you were at a high scale restaurant. Throughout the night the staff kept checking in with us to ensure if we needed anything. Nice thing was they kept checking but yet you never knew they were there. Simply amazing and I recommend Kerry and her team to anyone looking for a great event and at a very reasonable price.

We read the incredible reviews prior to our event and we can now confirm the service and experience was top-notch! We whole-heartedly recommend the Marriott for a reception venue. Kerry was wonderful to work with, she is so organized and thorough-not one detail was out of place. She is responsive to communications and had great ideas. The food was outstanding-so many compliments. Every staff member was so friendly and kind. They took care of all of the clean-up so the night was just focused on the wedding. KERRY, the Event Planner did a wonderful job guiding us through the process to make sure everything went super smooth the entire weekend. We were hosting a rehearsal dinner, reception, brunch and a PhD reception all on the same weekend.

We held our daughter's wedding at the Marriott and it was unbelievable!!!! Absolutely out of this world!!! Our daughter told us it was a magical day and her dream wedding all the way. No other comment is needed when your daughter tells you that. The staff from every aspect was totally top notch!!!! Would recommend the Marriott to anyone!!!!! I am sorry but as of this morning I don't have any photos to share but would love to share. It was truly amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! The best ever!!!!!!

Having our wedding reception at the Marriott was the best decision we made! Kerry was so great to work with. She really understood our vision and was so helpful throughout the whole planning process. Kerry is amazing to work with, she’s very helpful and makes everything exactly how you want it! The staff at The Marriott was helpful and very professional you can tell they love their job and want to be there! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to have our wedding. Kerry Brewer, Harrison & the Cedar Rapids Marriott went over and above to make our daughters wedding an amazing, low stress event. I especially appreciated the use of the tall flower vases, mirror tiles, votive candles, and linens at no additional cost. One of the best services they provide is decorating the tables for us. We dropped of the decorations 2 days prior to the wedding and picked them up the day after the event. How wonderful is that!
The food portions were very generous and excellent tasting. I had several guest compliment food and the wait staff. Guests with special food needs were easily accommodated, including a request emailed the same day as the wedding.
We had 4 women crash the reception. The bar staff (Tina) was quick respond, asking them to ask to leave. We appreciated their quick response and professionalism.

Everything was excellent! Our contact person, Kerry, was great. she was so helpful and accommodating. The food was great. The food tasting was so helpful. we probably would have picked different foods without it. the décor for the tables was perfect and so nice they decorated for us.

Kerry Brewer was amazing from start to finish, all of the Marriott staff was amazing during the event! We started planning a year prior and kerry and the Marriott staff were always very helpful and answered questions right away. If you want your reception at a hotel and you don't want to worry about ONE THING - go with the CR Marriott. IT was AMAZING! Kerry took care of everything for us - from set up to tear down and the next day. She is super responsive especially since I planned my wedding from 2000 miles away. She works with you to make your day FABULOUS and gives ideas when needed. Plus their soup is AMAZING - we got married in July, had the soup and it is still what people talk about!

Fabulous help at wedding reception

Kerry and her team are top notch professionals. They took care of every detail and as mom & dad of bride we could just relax and enjoy the reception and dance. The food was fabulous! I loved the internet site that was sent to me to request help if I needed anything. The only thing I put thru was a request to lower room temp once everyone was dancing. I could send the request without leaving my guests and it was taken care of immediately!
Such a delight to work with Kerry and the whole event team at the Marriott!

We hosted our reception at the Cedar Rapids Marriott. We booked over a year in advance and throughout our planning time had a lot of contact with the Catering Sales Manager, Kerry. She was absolutely fabulous! She has been doing this for a long time and has seen it all, so she has lots of helpful advice, suggestions, and recommendations.

The tasting event the hotel hosted the season prior to our wedding was a perfect way to help us decide what to serve for dinner, and all the food was delicious. The staff was very attentive and accommodating throughout our event and our guests all had a great time!

While a few decorative options seem a little pricey (e.g., projector & screen, uplighting, chair covers via their vendor), Kerry was very open to helping us bring in whatever we could (e.g., wine, candles) to keep costs down.

We also coordinated with the hotel to have a room block with discounted price for our guests and a free suite for us newlyweds and that worked very well. Everyone appeared to enjoy their stay.

The Marriott is a fantastic venue for weddings and, as I found, the staff will work with you to make your day perfect!

I was very impressed by the Marriott. They were very professional and very thourogh. We did not have to worry about a thing the day of our wedding. We just got to sit back and enjoy the big day. The food was also amazing. When you go to the food tasting the food is decent. But at the actual event the food is just amazing. The marriott is also a beautiful place, and is the perfect setting to enjoy your reception

Wedding reception

Kerry was great to work with - I felt like we planning our reception with a close friend. She cared about us, our family and giving us a stress free event. The Marriott took care of the details and we were able to fully enjoy our special day.

FANTASTIC experience! Kerry Brewer is WONDERFUL! The only thing we were dissatisfied with was that we had 20 flaky people not show up, but weren’t allowed to take home the food though we paid for it.

Kerry and her team were so great to work with! Our reception turned out beautifully. The Marriott set up all of our decorations and couldn't have been happier with how everything turned out. We were able to sit back and enjoy our special day. When it came time to dinner, Kerry and her team were professional and polite when serving our guests. And to say the food was amazing, is an understatement. We still have guests commenting on how great everything tasted!

They really did take care of everything. From setting up all the tables, which included room for the wedding cake and cupcake for guests. Snack table and table for gifts. They set up a area for the DJ and dance floor as well as picture taking. The head table was up higher, which I liked. They put up all the table decorations. Had a nice area for the bar. Then when everything was done, they took it all down! Locked the room up for the night so we didn't have to worry about getting the gifts out that night. Loved it!

Overall very nice-for Cedar Rapids. There are not alot of nice places to choose from in Cedar Rapids. It is pretty much here or a golf course. The food was delicious, much better than almost every wedding I've been to!

We really wanted the chocolate fountain, so we got it, but after running for about an hour it began to make the whole place smell like feet! We didn't know this was the cause but asked the catering manager and she told us - it smells like chocolate. To me it was smelly feet smell, not chocolate. Anyway, they removed it and it smelled better. I might advise against that fountain due to the smell, or only have it out a very short time. They tried to fix most things we needed throughout the night, but it was very cold in the room. They tried very hard.

The only real trouble we had was getting the cake into the room. We notified them ahead of time that a family friend was making it and needed to set it up at a certain time so she could make it to the wedding too. Just a few days before the wedding this was made a big deal and was not going to work, but my mother-in-law did some talking and worked it out so all was fine.

Great location! Great staff for the event! Some not so great things leading up to, (room not booked for me the night before, room not booked for US the night of, etc). They made things right, and even gave us a free night to use for our one year anniversary, which was nice, but you can only imagine how stressful it was right before the wedding having someone tell a bride they don't have a room booked... great food! Decent price. Overall, we had a wonderful reception thanks to a few very thoughtful staff members there. Thank you!!

DO NOT BLOCK ROOMS HERE. The way the Marriott chooses to run their business is appalling, and the worst hotel service I have ever encountered. In October, we blocked off 30+ rooms for our wedding in August because we have almost all out-of-town guests. We went to the Marriott, worked with the people there, and signed the paperwork. This was all done 10 months in advance of my wedding. All of our guests were told to book their room at the Marriott, as this is on the website, and all the invitations. This Wednesday, with only 40 days left before my wedding, we are notified that the Marriott CANCELED our entire block and gave ALL of our rooms to someone else. I am absolutely out of luck. The lady on the phone just kept saying “check your contract – we reserve the right to cancel our blocks at any time.” This could not be more disappointing. The entire point of a block is to have rooms reserved, so that 40 days out, my guests will have somewhere to stay. The fact that the Marriott canceled my block with this short notice, and that my time and the contract mean ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is indescribably frustrating and absolutely the worst business you could ask for when trying to plan your wedding. DO NOT BLOCK ROOMS HERE FOR ANY REASON. Choose to have your wedding guests or any other guests stay anywhere else.
