Amazing Food and Amazing Service

By far the best service in Columbus! Scott and his staff were efficient, safe, and an abundance of fun. Not only was the food delicious, the presentation was impressive. But seriously, order the mashed potatoes! Scott didn’t stray from the small details either. When we wanted black and white cookies, not only did he make them, he put custom stickers on the packaging as well! When I told him that it was my birthday a few days prior to our wedding, he had a birthday cake ready for me to pick up on my birthday! By choosing Catering by Scott, you are picking more than a caterer. We still talk about how much we love the food and the staff. We even got excited when we saw him from afar at Easton a few weeks ago! Five Stars – you will not be disappointed!

The best caterer you could ever ask for!

Two weeks after my wedding and I am still hearing from my guests that this was the best wedding food they have ever had! Scott and team were absolutely incredible, they took care of everything from setting up the napkins at each place setting, flipping my venue from ceremony to reception, clearing plates from tables, refilling waters to cleaning the reception when it was over. The staff wouldn’t even let me lift a box at the end of the day, they carried everything for me out to our cars. They were all so kind and thoughtful, I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Scott has so much experience in the wedding world, I didn’t need a day of coordinator because he did it all for me. He made sure the flower girls went down the aisle on time, he made sure guests went to the right place for cocktail hour and served up the best food ever, followed by a beautiful and delicious dessert bar, coffee and chocolate covered strawberries. It’s all very impressive what they do and the price honestly can’t be beat!

Loved Scott & his entire family!

From the taste testing in June to our wedding in November, Scott treated my husband and I like family. Aside from being an energetic and personable caterer, Scott provided us with insights and ideas we didn't even consider for our big day until sitting down with him. It's safe to say it is not his first time doing this. We had stations for dinner -- the gyro, pasta, salad, and meat stations -- they were a huge hit! The desserts were through the roof (peanut butter chocolate cupcake...YUM!) We can't wait to stop by Scotty's cafe and enjoy a bite to eat!

My husband and I got married this past July and we absolutely loved working with Scott and his crew! The food he served at our wedding was amazing and all of our guests said how much they loved it and that it was the best wedding food they have ever had! Not only did they do an awesome job with the food, but through the whole planning process I felt like I was part of his family and that he would do almost anything for us. Even after meeting only one time, we saw him at a wedding show and he immediately remembered us and all the details of what we had spoken about. This very much impressed me because it showed how much he cares about his clients and really does treat each one as if they're the only ones he is working with, which is obviously not the case with how busy he is! My parents came to Columbus multiple times just to eat at his cafe and do some more finishing details of planning! His crew also packaged up leftovers for my husband and I to enjoy after the wedding and we are so happy they did! I highly recommend Scott and know you will have the most amazing experience if you go with him!

We chose Catering by Scott, and we are so glad we did! He is such a sweet man, very personable and really made it a priority to make sure we were happy with everything we chose for our menu. The food was gourmet restaurant quality, plentiful and SO flavorful. The wait staff was very professional, friendly and efficient. The spread they put on for the cheese and Italian meat table and the dessert table were so lavish and beautifully presented.

It'll forever be tough to put into words how thankful my husband, family, friends, and I are that Catering by Scott catered our wedding- and beyond that- helped make this time in our lives such a special one. At the time we booked our venue- they were the exclusive caterer and sold us on our first meeting. The overwhelming love Scott has for catering, weddings, and making brides feel as incredible as they should- is indescribable. Scott made my husband and I feel like family upon our first meeting and remained incredibly helpful throughout our planning process. His family and staff did the same each time we called or came in. Scott did a great job helping us prep for our big day by providing us multiple meetings, delicious tastings, and tremendous help throughout the rehearsal and day of events!! Shawn Poirier was an incredible help as well as he touched base with me often throughout the night and made me feel like the most special, beautiful Bride. Lastly, this wouldn't be a complete review without commenting on the food- it was simply amazing. We had the grilled salmon, basil chicken, and Prime Rib- all were phenomenal and the desserts were the best I have ever had.. thank you again for helping us successfully plan the wedding of our dreams!

I used Catering by Scott for my August wedding for food (apps, dinner and cake) and rentals. He and his staff were great! They were always super helpful and responsive to my calls. Scott always answered my questions and made sure I was getting what I wanted. The food was superb and everyone was commenting about how much they loved it. It was a great choice and we were so happy with the results!

Catering by Scott was such a great catering service for our wedding this past weekend. We loved the staff Scott sent to us for our wedding. They catered to our needs to make sure our reception was perfect. They even packed food for my husband and I to take back to the hotel. Our guests raved about our food especially our late night snack which was a grilled cheese bar. I would highly recommend Scott and his staff.

Scott and his staff put on an excellently served dinner. The food is amazing ! It is hard to choose from the menu he has put together for receptions at Via Vecchia Winery. He is responsive to your requests and makes each bride feel as though they are the only bride to ever have a wedding and reception. He will suggest timelines for the reception, as well as making sure you have trusted people for your other vendor needs. The timeline he writes up for the reception is perfect ! Just go with the times he suggests for cake cutting, first dance & toasts etc.... it worked so smoothly during our daughter's reception. He knows what he is doing. Scott is well known and respected. Scott's wife was warm and friendly when we went to Scotty's cafe to go over options and menu items. Scott will tell you straight up (which is what you want) about what works and will not work. He is professional, but will act like an excited wedding member by offering to help with wedding planning, bustling a wedding dress, and offer up wardrobe suggestions.

Scott did a lovely job not only catering my daughters event but also he had many ideas that supported her special day.
He is professional, considerate, and very flexible.
One of the big recommendations for her wedding was to serve everyone family style. I can't tell you how many guests commented on the quality of food and loved being served family style by table.
I will be using Scott again for an upcoming business meeting. Very nice job!

Thanks to Scotty and staff for making a wonderful meal for our wedding on 09-14-13. The food was wonderful and the staff took great care of me, my husband and my guests. Scotty was great to work with before the wedding. He and his wife, Gina, are truly nice people; stop in Scotty's Restaurant in Bexley to see what I mean.

The staff handled everything very well the night of the wedding. As the bride and being very busy, I had very little interaction with the staff. They brought us wine when we were announced at the reception to do our toasts. They helped my husband and me through the food line by handling our plates as we made our selections and then carrying our plates to our tables. They kept things flowing for our guests and the guests raved about the food. They periodically checked on us to see if we needed anything else, too.

The only negative comments I had heard was there was a delay for some reason in getting the wedding cake cut. We did the ceremonial cut early to allow time for the cake to be cut for guests but someone ended up having to ask the staff to cut the cake for guests. I'm not sure what had happened but it all worked out. After the cake was cut, it was served to guests instead of guests going up to get dessert. By it being served, guests then didn't see the fresh fruit, delicious chocolate dipped strawberries and the cupcakes they prepared.

We enjoyed the chicken marsala and roasted vegetable leftovers the next several days. My only disappointment was not getting pork roulade leftovers and my granddaughters were upset that the cupcakes all disappeared. I guess everyone really liked both.

After the wedding, the staff went above and beyond helping to clear the table linens from a different company in addition to having to clean-up and clear everything they brought. My mother and my sister, my Maid of Honor, told me how helpful they were throughout the evening and after the reception.

Our family has used Scott for catering for many of our family events over the years. We knew we couldn't go to anyone else to do our wedding. After many months of planning and helpful advise from Scott, we were ready to get married. He helped us with great ideas and many things we would have never thought of. To any couples planning a wedding, let Scott and his staff help you create the most memorable wedding ever. There was no need for us to pay extra money for a wedding planner. He has been doing this so much longer than any planner out there. He truly listened and made sure everything was perfect. He can work his magic with any budget. Call them to help you!

We did not have to worry about anything, what a blessing Scott was. He thought of everything. The Catering staff was right on point all evening.
We have had so many compliments from friends and family about how amazing the food tasted. Ladies, if you do not want to have to worry about any details for your wedding than you need to call Catering by Scott we were his 1510 wedding. That speaks for itself.

I joke with my husband that he is lucky I met him before I met Scott. Scott was so much more than a caterer. I called Scott with anything I would take to a wedding planner. He. Knows. Everything. He not only says that he treats every bride like his daughter, he does one better....he treated me like a daughter but with the knowledge of a person who has been in this business for years. He is kind, caring, sweet, and knows what works, what doesn't, what looks good, what doesn't, and even predicted the type of dress I would end up wearing (at the time, I had my mind set on a completely different style, but after trying on what I thought would work and what Scott told me would look best, Scott was right). = ) I called when I was freaking out about numbers and linens and table layouts and he was always there to answer my questions, calm my nerves, and was a huge part of the wedding which was AMAZING. We went with family style Italian for dinner which our guests are STILL raving about. The people who work for Scott and served that night were professional, helpful, and so stinkin' nice! I still call Scott to check in because he is the just so wonderful you want to stay in touch. If you have any questions, please let me know because I could go on for days about what a lovely experience we had with him but won't go on anymore unless you ask. = )

My new husband said I could not wait to get back from our honeymoon, so we just wanted to say how perfect everything was last night. At our after party everyone was telling us how great the food was and how beautiful everything looked. I was sorry I did not eat dinner till we got to the hotel, and it was great even reheated. Scott and his team did a great job for our wedding. The food and desserts were absolutely amazing. Scott really made us feel special and not just another wedding or event they do throughout the year. One of the most common compliments of our wedding was that it was the best food our friends and family had ever had at a wedding!

Terry and I could not have ever ever ever been happier with our choice in caterers. My mom said if she was not married, Scott would be the perfect catch... Scott treated me like i was truly his daughter with every step of our wedding plans. The staff did everything Scott said they would do and much more. The bridal package they prepared for us at the end of the night was such a classy finishing touch to a perfect day. Catering by Scott is much more than just a catering company.

cotty and his amazing catering team outdid themselves for my sister's recent wedding. Despite the venue being 45 minutes away, every detail was perfect and every single thing was delicious! Lamb chop lollipops are still being talked about! I could go on and on about the menu; it was planned and executed with outstanding care. From the very first meeting, Scotty helped us plan an outstanding menu and his team set up every table, every display flawlessly. Service went above and beyond for every guest with professionalism and smiles. A special shout out to William, too! He made sure we were taken care of throughout the evening. I can't wait until I plan my next event...Catering by Scott's Scott Bast will be my first call!

We both are very happy, Scott performed just as he said he would... The team that came to our event saved the day when we had issues with some of our other vendors... I loved the package of food they gave to us after the wedding, it was a wonderful touch to end an incredible day. We can't wait to host another party with Catering by Scott

We booked Catering by Scott for our daughter's wedding. We met with Scott and he promised us the moon....then he delivered! Scott and his wonderful staff made the night pretty nearly perfect. Scott is such a pro that he ran our rehearsal and acted as our day-of coordinator, and everything went flawlessly.
He and his staff had to "flip" the venue from the ceremony to the reception and were quick and efficient. Scott is concerned about the details as well as the big picture of the evening. The food was fabulous, and as others have said, many guests commented on how delicious it was... many saying that it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding. Scott made his way through the tables checking with guests as to how they were enjoying the food and refilling whatever was needed. He also worked with my daughter to make things fun and different, with grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters and a pie bar for dessert (his daughter makes the pies and...yum!!). I highly recommend Scott and his crew. They're simply wonderful!!

The food is amazing!!! We used Scott for rehearsal dinner and reception and were very happy with both events. He managed to make the meals completely different from each other so there was a nice contrast. We were very happy with him and his staff.

Overall we had a good experience working with Catering by Scott. Everyone loved our food for both our rehearsal dinner and our wedding. Scott was great at guiding us to help put together the menus for both of our events. We had a cheesecake bar for dessert and it was amazing. We also had a slider bar for later in the evening that everyone loved. Scott’s staff was unbelievable. They were all so nice and accommodating. I would definitely use them again.

Leading up to the wedding, Scott was very helpful. Sometimes a little hard to get ahold of, but always willing to meet, even during a major storm. We were very impressed with the offerings of a kid's menu and free cake (since we booked early on). Scott was very upfront with cost and did not nickel and dime you for things that others seemed to add charges for (certain glasses, linens, etc). He advised us to purchase our own drinks (pop, lemonade) for the reception to save us from an extra fee on his side and even helped us with how much to buy. The issues we had began with our last meeting prior to the wedding, when we felt for the first time that he wasn't on the same page with us and what we were really wanting. For example, we had requested a cake testing to decide on flavors, but instead were served plates of our selected dinner items and some random petite desserts. This made deciding on cake flavors difficult, since we had done no cake testing before. Although Scott seemed as if he was only trying to help, we disagreed a bit on the schedule of events for the reception, making the final meeting tense and stressful. We had requested to pick up linens early to set up the night before, and Scott had things ready to go. We discovered that we were missing linens for the drink table and dj table, but Scott was responsive to a call the morning of the wedding and the linens were delivered with no problems. Scott was not present at our event, but his staff was very nice and professional. They finished setting up all of our centerpieces, lit candles, etc. They made sure that we were happy during the reception. When we noticed that 2 liter bottles of pop were out and visible on the drink table when they were requested to be in pitchers, the staff quickly took care of the problem. In both of our earlier tastings, Scott's food was excellent, however the day of the wedding, the chicken was a bit dry. The roast carving station was excellent. In terms of guest treatment, there was only a small issue when the sister of the bride (6th grader) wanted an adult plate rather than the kid's menu, and when the groom's grandmother requested a kid's plate. The cake looked rushed and was smaller than expected. Our decided flavors were white cake with lemon filling and chocolate cake with raspberry filling, both of which were delicious. However, we discovered that many of our guests were served plain vanilla cake with no filling. Scott's petite desserts that we decided to have served were outstanding. The chocolate covered strawberries were great and there were an array of pastries that were also excellent. All in all, Scott and his staff were fine to work with and were professional. The staff took care of us during our event, and beyond a few issues, we were pleased and look forward to our anniversary cake that is frozen for next year.

Scott was a good find. I recomend him with caution (meaning I would use him again but need some things in writing). First I would like to say that the food was great and everything looked amazing. My wedding cake was included with my package and it was the best red velvet cake I ever tasted and it looked exactaly like the picture that I gave him. My only complaint came with his actual service leading up to the wedding not that anything went horibly wrong but just a few things that needed to be addressed and we not necisarly fixed before the wedding but nothing that caused any real "harm" to my reception.

We chose Catering by Scott for the quality of food and their display. We knew that Scott was more expensive from other caterers we had taste tested with but wanted our reception's food quality to be on the higher end. We admired that Scott was eager to work with us and made us feel very comfortable working with him as a same-sex couple.

Scott has great artistic though and top notch food. His daughter's cupcakes are also to die for. He was very accommodating to us being slow on the menu and changing it several times.

Everything went smoothly until the day of the wedding. Our wedding planning assistants, guests as well as ourselves were not impressed by the staff. Scott never appeared during the night even though he informed us he would be there at some point. At setup, the staff was reading are highly drawn-out project plan backward. Scott ensured us there would be no problem flipping our venue between wedding and reception but our ushers, photographer and guests all assisted in helping. The food was absolutely amazing. We were told that the appetizers during cocktail hour were very good as well but nobody on the staff brought any to us or the wedding party. The cupcakes for dessert were top notch.

We decided to do a late night snack of fajitas. We debated with Scott the quantity to serve and he forced into a number 50 over what we wanted. When we were leaving at the end of the night the fajitas had been barely touched. His staff was eating them at this point and we received no left overs which did not seem right. Finally, we paid for an extra hour of service and this was never refunded to us.

We did not hear a follow up from Scott to ask us about our experience which has sat poorly with us since we feedback that he could use to improve the experience for future couples he serves. We do not mean for this review to be negative but that even an experience of a 10 through the process can feel more like a 4 on wedding day.

Scott's company line is that every bride is treated as his daughter. It is a local family business that does a lot of catering events, has a restaurant and does catering for a lot of local private aviation.
I will say the food that was served at our event was excellent - I don't think they've ever had a problem with their food. Which is why Scott should focus on catering and not trying to coordinate weddings. A lot of our other vendors weren't looking forward to working with them because of how they try to recommend (read: control) everything else. We felt like we got talked into doing things we didn't originally want to do at our wedding too.
While giving us the line for a year about treating us as his own, we were told on the fly the night before the wedding that he wasn't going to be there, and someone else would handle everything. (Thanks for the notice)
The main problem with Scott is communication. We set up a meeting 2 weeks out to review our final details. He forgot to give us copies of some of the most important materials when we left the meeting - floorplan, timeline, menu and invoices. We called 10 minutes later and offered to come back, or he could email them. He said not to worry he would email them the next morning. We emailed the following day, the day after that, called twice the following week and also sent multiple emails that week and got NO responses. Then I get an email the day before our wedding with a copy of the floorplan on it from his wife - never an invoice copy or timeline - so we had to make everything again ourselves for meetings with our other vendors. These little things separate people who we would recommend, from people we definitely would not. A lot of people can cook, but not a lot of people can be responsive and work well with you to prepare for a wedding.

Working one on one with Scott was a pleasure and he seemed to really be interested in making my wedding reception a wonderful event. However, the people sent to represent Scott and his business were anything but professional. My hope is that they were new, and being overwhelmed by the responsibility of the event, weren't sure how to handle themselves. As I said, Scott was a pleasure to work with, but I believe he really needs to do a better job at screening those he picks to represent his business. The best way to sum up our experience is after our reception and the poor treatment given to my guests, my new husband and I ended up at McDonalds.

I would never, ever recommend this caterer. My experience was horrible and I was so upset on my wedding day! Nothing went right where the catering was concerned and it was a disaster! His staff arrived an hour and fifteen minutes late, Some of my requests pertaining to food were OUTRIGHT IGNORED after many discussions that were put in writing and being promised EVERYTHING I desired including a special gluten free meal for a guest with Celiac disease. I was so embarrassed when the guest informed me that not only she did NOT get the meal, but the manner in which she was treated when she asked about the meal. I did NOT even receive the cake I ordered! Instead I got an awful looking, plain cake that looked like a five year old iced it with a butter knife! The worst yet is when we contacted him he blamed all the mistakes on me and my husband!! He absolutely refused to accept any responsibility for all the mistakes even when we had the paperwork to prove it! Avoid this caterer like the plague and save yourself the heartache and stress on your big day Ladies!!!!!

Do not use this caterer!

I would NEVER recommend Catering by Scott to anyone and have strayed multiple brides away from choosing him! Scott is extremely unprofessional, and he’s a great salesman and makes a lot of promises that he doesn’t follow through on. His staff arrived to our wedding over an hour late and Scott never even came when he said he would be there! The food the day of the wedding tasted nothing like the food at our taste testing (my cousin got married a few weeks before us and also used catering by Scott and they had the exact same issue). After making promises that he ended up not following through on, I called him out on that and instead of trying to make things right he threatened to cancel on me 1 week before my wedding and proceeded to hang up on me during a phone conversation! He is extremely hard to get ahold of and many times just doesn’t respond to a correspondence entirely. I had to call his restaurant and ask his staff to put me in contact with him any time I did actually get to talk to him. The only negative experience of my entire wedding was Scott and his company! For any bride who wants a stress free wedding, AVOID THIS CATERER AT ALL COSTS!!

The only regret I have from my wedding was hiring Scott for my wedding. He charmed my family and I with his big personality and even bigger promises. Scott told me that it was my day and that I could trust him to take care of everything. As time went on, I began to see what a huge mistake I made. His communication was horrific. He was impossible to get a hold of and did not answer emails. Initially he told me that he only booked 2 events in one day. We later found that on the day of my wedding he had 5 other events. The day before the wedding the linens were not set up when I had asked so that I could set up my tables. My mother called Scott to follow up on this and he hung up on her. The day of my wedding, I was starving and could not wait to eat. I was unable to cut into my chicken because it was harder than a brick. None of the food was anything like what we had tasted. My guests complained to me that some of the chicken was not cooked and raw in the center. The food was absolutely horrible. His staff was supposed to set up the dessert table immediately after the cake cutting. It did not get set up until my mom found someone and told them to which was only 1 hour before the wedding ended. We were told leftovers would be packed up for us at the end of the wedding. We had at least 10 guests not show up and there was no extra food. His staff packed up our wedding cake using boxes from doughnuts that I provide which completely smashed the cake.
I cannot began to express my frustration, disappointment and anger that I feel towards Scott. We attempted to reach out to him after the wedding to have some resolution but he never responded. Scott was the worst part of my wedding. If my other vendors weren't so incredible he would have completely ruined my wedding day. DO NOT HIRE THIS MAN!

The good: The guests liked the food for the most part. The staff sent to serve at the event were professional and nice.
The bad: This caterer is not for people who have an idea of what they would like for their event. If you are looking for someone to create their vision of your event then Scott is your caterer. If you expect to have an exchange of ideas and confidence you’re paying for your choices and preferences, then you should find another caterer. Unfortunately, the venue we chose uses this caterer as their exclusive caterer so the warning signs along the way only added to the stress as I could not take my business and money elsewhere. I asked for a plated dinner, but was talked into a buffet. I wanted the baked chicken dish, but was told to do chicken marsala. I told the venue where I wanted the bar to be placed, but day of it was stationed somewhere else per Scott’s request. I could go on and on. I was told by Scott they would be there 2pm on day of the wedding and they did not arrive until 3:45pm. This caused a disruption to the pre-wedding events. I could not decorate the venue because the linens were with them. My wedding guests were arriving at 5pm, so I was left with about 40 minutes to get ready for my wedding once the staff did arrive and we were able to put out the centerpieces and other table decorations. I asked them what time they were told to be there and was told 3pm. I never bothered to say anything to Scott about this after the fact because he won’t respond as evidenced by my six email requests over the course of several months for the alcohol list went unanswered. He simply stopped replying to anything once final payment was made. He was disorganized and never seemed to know what was going on or who I was when I would try to track him down to discuss next steps. Seriously avoid this caterer at all costs.
