Delicious food and Great service!

We worked with Shannon to plan the meal for our October wedding and couldn’t be happier with how things turned out!

Shannon was very responsive and timely with emails - which was especially important for us since we were planning our wedding from California and couldn’t make a lot of back-and-forth trips to Chicago.

The food was very tasty - the beef tenderloin was perfect (and the food that convinced my husband that these were the right caterers for us!) and the appetizer and dessert options were exciting and fresh. I especially appreciated that the caterers made a special plate of appetizers for my husband and I and packed up all the desserts to send home with us!

Their willingness to work with us to design the perfect salad option was very appreciated!

The waitstaff was responsive and accepted feedback.

Amazing Wedding Caterer

I cannot say enough good things about Catering by Michaels. What was I looking for in a caterer? Good food, straightforward to work with, reasonably priced. What did I get in this caterer? I got delicious food (people still are commenting to me after the wedding about how good the food was) that had many options and were completely supportive of finding delicious food for folks of all dietary needs. I got an amazing person to work with. Stacey was super responsive, clear in explaining things, helpful to keep to our budget, friendly, knowledgeable, and with us every step of planning. And the price point was really fantastic. Should I have any major catering event to plan again, I would not hesitate to immediately see if Catering by Michaels was available first. Thank you to Stacey and her team for helping make our wedding such a joyful and delicious event!

10/10 Wedding Catering Experience

Catering by Michael’s was an absolute dream to work with for our wedding! From the beginning, they made everything so easy and smooth, especially for an event that can seem stressful and overwhelming. Emily, the event coordinator, was so communicative, thoughtful, responsive, and gave helpful advice along the way. We were so grateful to work with her! We also received so many compliments about the food served at our wedding – many of our guests said that was the best food they’ve ever had at a wedding (and we agree!). The catering staff at the wedding were also super kind and accessible/approachable. We also had a covid-conscious wedding and asked the staff if they wouldn’t mind wearing masks and they all obliged, which we really appreciated. Catering by Michael’s and all the staff were also super attentive to details and made sure that everyone with allergies or dietary restrictions were well cared for. We could not recommend Catering by Michael’s enough for all your catering needs! 10/10!

Top notch food and service!

We booked Catering by Michaels for our wedding after having multiple family friends recommended them and they EXCEEDED ALL EXPECTATIONS!

Communication with Michaels was seamless and working with our coordinator, Stacey, was a dream. She was so on top of it in scheduling our tasting, attending our final walk-through, and making sure everything was perfect on the day of the event.

First and foremost the food options they offered were TO DIE FOR. It was so hard choosing what we wanted at our wedding because everything sounded so good. I went into choosing a caterer just not wanting bad food and they provided everything and more that I could imagine. The tasting was one of our favorite parts of planning. We had such a great time trying all the food, making notes, and playing around with place-setting options. Truly we were blown away with every food item we tasted.

When it came to the walk-through Stacey came prepared and asked us all the right questions, even about things we hadn't thought of or discussed. I was thoroughly impressed with her knowledge and professionalism.

On the wedding day, Stacey and all the Catering by Michaels staff were TOP NOTCH! Our guests were also blown away by how delicious the food was - from apps, to dinner, to dessert. Multiple guests have reached out to us post-wedding to rave about not only the food but also about the staff and service they received.

I cannot say enough about how much I enjoyed working with Stacey and Catering by Michaels and would recommend them to anyone who is considering them as an option for any event!

Catering by Michaels is the best!

We used Catering by Michael’s for our April 2023 wedding and I cannot recommend them enough! We worked with Stacey and she was amazing through the entire process, from pricing out various options for our quotes to helping us craft a menu that would work best for our wedding. On top of all of it she was incredibly professional and always in great mood and so pleasant to work with. Catering was a big expense for us so she took a lot of time to help us get everything just right for our big day.

We had a tasting a few months before the wedding, which was such a fun experience and helped us feel much better about the day. The tasting was a true demonstration of how things would go on our wedding day and they were not kidding - it was exactly the amazing food and customer service we got to experience on our wedding.

Everything about the wedding catering went perfectly - every team member was professional and in a great mood, tables were served promptly with warm food, and the best part was that it was all incredibly delicious and filling.

I cannot recommend CMB more - there’s a reason they’ve been around for so long and are so amazing at what they do!

Catering by Michaels and Moriah are the BEST!

Cannot say enough good things about Catering by Michaels for a wedding! From the beginning they were amazing partners - they were responsive, accommodating, flexible and the food was INCREDIBLE on the wedding day! Moriah was an absolute gem to work with and was supportive throughout the entire process. The guests raved about the appetizers, dinner, desserts and late night snacks and we're still hearing about how good the food was weeks later. 100/10 would recommend Moriah and team for your wedding.

The best!

Catering by Michael’s was amazing!!! We worked with Moriah, who was so on top of everything and a breeze to work with. The Best Caterer in Chicago

My daughter's wedding was on November 13, 2021, but my post never got from my desk to this page. So after cleaning my desk today, I found my words and I still feel the same way.

Michele, there are no words to thank you for Saturday night. From the moment we met at our party planner's office until Saturday night and everything in between, everything was outstanding! Catering by Michael’s never disappoints! It’s amazing what happens behind closed doors that I don’t get to see. One goal that I had was to try every single appetizer. Your wonderful staff, serving them, knew my goal and helped to make sure that I tried every delicious appetizer that we had ordered. It was a success, I tried them all. Your staff was incredible. You are incredible! Thank you so much for everything you did to make my daughter and my son-in-law’s special night, even that more special. I have no idea what you did for the people with all of the special dietary needs. When I saw that list, I couldn’t believe it! But, you did it! People commented about how wonderful the food was! Filet Cuts with Butter Knife

The food was SOO good I had so many people tell me they loved it during and even after the wedding!. Some even said it was the best steak they ever had. It literally cut with the butter knife.
Appetizers were delicious. Our event coordinator was so great and she was a huge reason we went with CBM, her knowledge and attentiveness and she is so personable. We made the right choice and so will you!

Truly the best!!!

There are no words that can describe how happy I am that we chose to work with CBM for our wedding. Aside from the fact that the food was phenomenal, the quality of service, professionalism, and accessibility leading up to and on our wedding night far exceeded all of our expectations. Michele and her team truly thought through every detail. When our guest count doubled just a couple of weeks before the wedding (thank you Covid Vaccine!), Michele remained completely calm and executed everything flawlessly. They say brides don't eat on their wedding nights, but after my tasting I knew I had to eat everything because it was SO delicious!!!

Amazing Experience During Covid

It's a weird time to plan a wedding, and Moriah & Michael's took away so much of the stress of it all. I helped my sister-in-law organize her small, backyard wedding and it was a cinch with CBM. Food was amazing, everybody on staff was so friendly and nice and helpful, and their Covid precautions were really well thought out. Highly, highly, highly recommend.

Best food you could ask for!

I don’t even know where to begin! The best compliment comes from one of our guests that had 8 weddings this year and he could not stop raving about the food at the wedding. I have many food allergies and the chef from Michael’s was able to make me a custom plate that was fresh and fit my needs. I was able to enjoy a full tasteful meal at my wedding, not just a plate of meat and bland potato. They made me a special first course of a sushi donut. I have never craved sushi until experiencing the brilliance is the chef through Michael’s. Not only was our meal delicious they made an amazing taco bar for a midnight snack. Our guests were shocked and incredibly pleased by the experience and the meal. They loved that the entire meal was made to go so they could bring it back to the hotel. So Delicious!

We received a lot of great feedback from our wedding guests about our food and we couldn't agree more. Every appetizer that was supposed to be hot, was hot. I know that seems like a weird thing to share, but sometimes weddings don't always even have that.

Overall our experience was wonderful from the food tasting and letting us ask too many questions to when it came to the day of the wedding. Every meal was prepared great, they accommodated every person with specific dietary needs, and the taste alone was absolutely incredible. I also would like to mention the desserts and more importantly the donuts. THEY WERE INCREDIBLE. They really truly do good work and help make sure you get the menu you want for you special day and there is nothing more you could ask for. Clear eyes, full stomachs, can't lose. They were the best.

Food is absolutely AMAZING!

I highly recommend Catering by Michael's! Everyone LOVED our food at the wedding! It's not your typical "wedding food." We also had lots of compliments on the waitstaff, and how they were all very friendly and accommodating for those who need special meals. Our coordinator, Moriah, was the absolute best to work with and the process was very easy and stress-free!

Best Wedding Food (per some very opinionated guests!)

We had our wedding at a CBM location, but this is just speaking with regard to the food. One word: spectacular. We were nervous going with a catering company that we weren’t familiar with, but it had been well-reviewed online, and a lot of friends had said they went to CBM events that were delicious, so we decided to go for it. We were met first with a 100-plus page menu, with the further statement that the kitchen could really make anything we wanted. Our tasting was excellent; the staff was incredibly helpful when we had to start making cuts, and the woman who assisted us at the tasting actually had her wedding at the same venue, and gave us a lot of insight about the space, and how the food is cooked/will come out from the kitchen. When we were further down the line, our fabulous coordinator Marta sent us sample menus for sweet tables because we couldn’t decide on what to get. We were able to pick from all of those menus and craft a perfect sweet table for our guests to eat there and to take some home. Weeks later, people are still telling us that it was some of the best food they have ever had at a wedding. If you are looking at a CBM location, book it. Or if you’re just looking for a caterer, don’t hesitate to book Catering By Michaels!

Our wedding

We used Michaels for our Daughters wedding at a venue that had to be completely catered with a pretty large guest list. Michaels (Michele)didn't miss a beat! From the servers to the bartenders, from the food to the drinks, everything was perfect. There were a lot of moving parts and Michele made sure everything worked. The food was HOT and delicious ! :)

We can't say enough positive things about Catering by Michaels. We had our wedding at Events at Independence Grove and we are so thankful they use them as an exclusive caterer. For a few examples... we had chicken and waffles, tomato soup with grilled cheese fingers, a flaming donut station, a late night taco bar and the best jumbo white fish I have ever had. From the tasting (which is amazing on its own) to our wedding day, all of the food was perfect. Strangers would rave about the food when they would heard about our venue... now we know why! We can't wait to be one of those strangers now!

The food and decor was stellar - I'm thrilled to say my wedding served one of the best steaks I've ever had, and desserts to match. But you'll be eating a lot of good food as you taste caterers - it's CBM's personal touch that was so above and beyond. We went for a dessert tasting at Catering by Michaels, and one of the chefs sat down happened to be in the office, sat down with us, and took personal customization from the bride-to-be (who has a notorious sweet tooth!). We later found out this was the VP in charge of Desserts, and frankly that was reflective of the personal attention and dedication we got from Catering by Michaels. This was important because as a couple with a long engagement, we even had a personnel change at Catering by Michaels and nothing was lost in the exchange. That, to me, is a great measure of the stability and confidence you'll be getting with Michaels.

We used Catering by Michaels for our wedding and our guests raved about the food afterward and said things like "I've never been to a wedding where the food was this good!" Our main contact, Jessica, was absolutely lovely and very responsive and helped us with all of our questions. The tasting trial allowed 6 people to attend, included a glass of bubbles, and we got to take home the leftovers. The food was DELICIOUS at the tasting and DELICIOUS at the wedding. I would recommend them in a heartbeat.

Catering by Michaels did an excellent job to deliver on the best catering possible for our wedding. Jessica W. did a great job to guide us through the process and provided the best advice whenever possible. She was attentive to our needs and quick to respond to us. We also received great feedback from our guests, everyone LOVED all the Hors d'oeuvre passed during cocktail hour as well as the passed desserts. Catering by Michaels also did a great job in providing more than enough food options for our dietary restricted guests.

My husband and I choose Catering by Michaels to cater our wedding. This is my second time using this company for a large event and I cannot speak enough about the their staff! For both events I have worked with Stacey and her team and the entire process was seamless. Everyone pays very close attention to detail, works with your budget, and strives to match your vision. All of these qualities were very important to my husband and I, and Catering by Michaels exceeded our standards.

Our guests did not stop talking about our passed apps and dinner was a hit. Wonderful people, wonderful company. Would 100% recommend.

Catering by Michaels was unbelievably easy to work with. The caterer is responsible for so much of the wedding being great; the flow is practically set around the food. Jessica was there to help us every step of the way, even when other vendors had issues. The food was incredible (and let's be honest, most wedding food sucks), and the staff was extremely attentive. I couldn't recommend them more.

From the minute we met with Michelle Gossman from Catering By Michaels we were confident that this was the catering company that we must hire to do our daughters wedding for 320 guests at the Harold Washington Library. She gave us so much time, creative energy, her thoughtful ideas, and was a great listener to our ideas. She respected our budget and always explained why we may or may not needed the caterer’s additional services. I always felt like she was client centered in catering decisions, putting our needs and wants first. There were many challenges having a wedding of this size at this venue, but Michelle was an incredible collaborator with our party planner Marcy Glink from Great Events. She put in so many extra hours doing site visits to insure the wedding day would go smoothly. As for the day and night of the wedding..........we have never seen a team of people work as hard and as professionally as the entire staff at Catering by Michaels. From the waiters to the bartenders to the chef to the kitchen staff to Michelle, herself, they never sat down and were so pleasant and efficient. And lastly, THE FOOD WAS INCREDIBLE!!! People have been raving about the appetizers, main course and dessert all week. Not only did it look outstanding it tasted it as well. People have told me they cleaned their plates and that is not usually true with most wedding food. We have heard comments from so many of our guests that the food came hot and they loved the passed desserts on the dance floor. We give Michelle and Catering By Michaels a standing ovation!!!

Working with CBM and Stacey Combrzynski made our wedding planning experience easier and more enjoyable than we could have imagined. She was wonderful at listening and responding to all of our concerns promptly and with a positive attitude, gave suggestions only where we asked for/needed them, and even helped navigate some conflicts between us and our families during the wedding planning process. At the wedding, it was amazing to have her there to put out fires and involve us in on the spot decisions only where we were absolutely required. She insisted on executing even small details as we envisioned them, so that there was really nothing we had to worry about on the day-of. Other wedding planners I've encountered have been pushy and over-involved, and Stacey was anything but. I would highly recommend her to anyone planning an event, as well as CBM - everyone we came into contact with from this company was professional and gracious, and delivered amazing service and food that left our guests extremely satisfied.

Working with Stacey from Catering By Michael's for our wedding took such a tremendous burden off our shoulders. She is extremely organized, professional, intuitive and friendly, and I quickly realized that I no longer had to worry about any little details slipping through the cracks, because Stacey had already figured them all out and made notes. She also respected our vision for the day, never pushing her own agenda, and making suggestions to improve our ideas while staying within our style and budget. Unlike other day-of coordinators we had encountered who could be very high-strung and add to the stress of the day, Stacey was a completely calm presence to us, our families, and other guests she encountered, keeping the day running smoothly without bombarding us with questions/decisions, or ever pushing anyone around. She and the rest of her staff were nothing but warm and polite the entire evening, and everything ran on time and without a hitch (even though the entire ceremony needed to be moved inside at the very last minute due to unexpected rain). Additionally, the food was absolutely fabulous, and they even let us take some unopened trays home which made for extremely delicious and appreciated meals when we were exhausted the next few days. I would definitely work with Stacey and Michael's again for any event!

We choose Catering by Michaels as our food vendor for a corporate networking event outside of the Merchandise Mart. Since many of our clients are from elsewhere, we choose to do a Taste of Chicago theme. Stacey and her team truly made our vision come to life. Having had our wedding at Independence Grove in Libertyville, Catering by Michael's was the default caterer. WE COULD NOT BE HAPPIER with the service and food on our big day. It was fun tasting all of the different items at our food tasting - and it was almost hard to choose what to serve because everything was delicious. Our guests kept commenting on how amazing our food was (all courses). We even had the option to have a late night snack - we chose slices of Lou Malnati's pizza. It was such a hit! Would definitely recommend Catering by Michael's!

We had our son's graduation party in our backyard. Michele was great in helping me plan and execute our party. She gave us great ideas for food and where to do set up and grilling. The staff the day of the event were wonderful. After I showed the. Where we wanted everything they took over and had it all ready before the first guest. Dinner was ready when they said it would be and dessert was set up by the time dinner was over. Clean up was efficient and orderly. All the rentals were put back for pick up the next day. I loved having this party and I would use them again in a minute!

We were so pleased with the level of attention to detail and care that went into the planning and assistance for our event. I had an overall wonderful experience with Jessica Cerven and Catering by Michaels for my wedding. Jessica was very flexible and easy to communicate with throughout the planning process, especially since I live in a different state and time zone than the wedding and Michaels was in.

The wedding itself was supposed to be outdoors with dinner under a tent - however, there were massive thunderstorms that forced us to change plans. It could have been a disaster, but the catering staff could not have been more flexible and professional - thanks to them, we had an even better party than I could have imagined. I would definitely work with them again and recommend their services to others.

Emily was our contact, and she was so professional- answered emails, returned phone calls pomrptly, the communication was exceptional. The menu is huge and Emily guided us to a wonderful buffet for our son's rehearsal dinner held at a winery. Michaels did a fabulous job with my husband's 60th birthday celebration. The food was delicious and the service was superb. Everything was so thoughtfully done and so beautifully presented. Catering by Michaels is always great to work with. Their selection is endless and they always deliver the highest quality of product and service. This event was a retirement luncheon at the office for about 40 people. Holy Cow! Catering by Michaels is contracted at our wedding venue for catering. I can not tell you enough how great all the food was. We had a variety of appetizers and they catered a delicious plated meal for us as well. Everything turned out fantastic and we got so many compliments about the food! Best food ever! This was the most talked about thing at our wedding. Their food was very tasty and had great presentation. During your food tasting, they have a formal table set up with whatever colors you chose for your wedding. They allow you to try 7-8 cold appetizers and 7-8 hot appetizers, 2-3 different types of salads, and 2 different meat entrees and 1 vegetarian entree. We were able to bring 8 people to our tasting, and they answered all of our questions perfectly! They are very easy going and very flexible. I would recommend them to anyone!

What do I love about Catering by Michaels? It starts with their staff. I've been working with the same woman there for 10 years now (first in my professional life and now for our parties at home). She has spot-on advice based on years of experience and is always prompt and professional. I've used Catering by Michaels three times in the past month, all different budgets and services. We did a full service sit down dinner, had trays dropped off for a casual dinner meeting and a drop off tailgate package for a backyard bbq. Everything was great with this event. Meredyth and her team always provide excellent service and are on top of everything. It's always great to see familiar faces every time we do a large event here. The fact that there are people who have been with Michael's long enough for me to remember them (I meet a lot of catering folks, so it's not always easy) says a lot about the company. Two staff members who assisted with setup, maintenance and cleanup were fantastic. They were punctual, friendly, and very responsive to what was happening. Empty trays were cleared, empty glassware was put away, etc. Everything was great!

Working with Meredyth is a breeze as well. She's always quick to provide a proposal and very flexible when it comes to last-minute changes. We've used Catering by Michael's for years now, and have never been disappointed.

Very, very happy with the service. Everything was as arranged. The food delivered was beautifully presented and tasty. And the delivery arrived at exactly when it was promised to arrive. Also, staff with whom I dealt were very pleasant (as well as, of course, professional).

Everyone that I dealt with was wonderful! Meredyth was very helpful with suggestions for the menu and determining the amount of food needed. Jose was delightful and helpful and very thorough when he delivered everything. And Victor was absolutely the BEST!! He greeted everyone and got them drinks, he set everything up for us, he was knowledgeable about food and could answer questions about it, and he went over and above by going out to buy us more plates when we ran out!! He stayed to the end to clean up and put everything away for us!! Bravo. We will definitely use Michaels again!! Thank you all for making our event so successful.

Every experience I have had has been superb!! It's overwhelming with all the choices on the menus but Meredyth narrowed it down according to our needs and took the thinking out of it and made it so easy!! The food is Always delicious and beautifully presented!!

Our event was fabulous. Tim and his crew, I'm sorry I don't remember all their names, were outstanding. From set-up to take down, they were friendly and courteous to all of our guests. Everyone has raved about the party! The appetizers were superb and every entree on the dinner buffet was equally as good. Our organization has been using Catering by Michaels/Picnics Inc. for its yearly Summer BBQ for the past five years. I used to deal with Jami Anderson (who no longer is with the company) and for our more recent event on 16JUL was helped by Shannon Sherwood in taking our catering order and setting up everything for our event. Shannon was a joy to work with and took care of all of our needs in a timely and professional manner. We are always blessed with a terrific catering/wait staff the day of our event and this year was no exception. Both Patrick + Norberto took excellent care of our group onsite and grilled our hamburgers + hot dogs to perfection. Everyone who attended our BBQ raved about how delicious the food was and it is true, you can't go wrong with any of their online menu selections. Michele Grossman and the Catering by Michaels team were a pleasure to work with for our 9th annual fundraising gala. The event had 265 guests in attendance, our largest crowd yet, and service was (a) by far the smoothest and (b) featured the best food we have ever had, including a gourmet, custom designed dessert created by the chef to fit in with our musical theme.
