Couldn't have asked for a better experience!

Catalina is fantastic! She strikes the perfect balance between editorial and fine art, and she made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Some of my favorite memories from our wedding day were actually while taking photos with my now-husband, just the two of us with Catalina behind the lens. She created space for those quiet, magical moments to unfold naturally.

She was also incredibly knowledgeable about our venue, easy to communicate with, and made the whole process feel seamless. We’re obsessed with our sneak peek photos and can’t wait to see the full gallery. I couldn’t recommend her more!

The Absolute BEST

Catalina was truly one of my favorite vendors I worked with for my wedding in November 2022. First of all, she makes taking pictures SO MUCH FUN. My husband and I hate taking pictures and feel very awkward in front of the camera, but with her, she makes it feel so fun and effortless. She has the BEST artistic style and captures such beautiful moments in a natural way. She was also so flexible and easy to work with which is such a must for your wedding. She was extremely responsive and connected with me throughout the process to make sure she had all the details she needed to make the day smooth. She helped make the perfect timeline and keep things on schedule. We had a morning ceremony and evening reception, and she worked with me to make sure we could add in enough time to capture both events, and even stayed longer to get some additional pictures at the end of the night. I didn't want her to leave because she was just such a fun wedding guest, regardless of the pictures! I got so many compliments about her, not just about the actual pictures (though I got a ton of those, too), but also about how fun and cool she was throughout the day. She also photographed our engagement shoot and rehearsal dinner, which all turned out amazing. I cannot say enough good things about her and the beautiful pictures she gave us to remember our special day!

Incredible.

Where to even begin...Catalina was more than we could have hoped for. She is professional, assertive, helpful, creative, and passionate about her work. We feel so lucky to have found her for our micro-wedding! The pictures she produced for us were nothing short of breathtaking - we have the most beautiful photos to look back on for many years to come! Catalina provided a huge sense of comfort for us and our families on such an emotional day and we appreciated her presence in addition to her work. She is a wonderful person and a wonderful photographer and we would highly recommend her to anyone.

Catalina was amazing. Her talent was obvious when we saw her portfolio, but the way she goes about the whole day is an art form in itself. She made everyone feel so comfortable and got many amazing shots. We got our pictures back so fast too, which was the best. I'm sooo so glad we were able to book Catalina, I mean pictures are really the only way to truly remember details of special moments, and she captured our wedding moments in the most lovely way. They'll be hanging on our walls always!

CATALINA IS THE BEST PHOTOGRAPHER OF ALL TIME! Not only are her photos so flawless and artistic, but she is also just an incredibly rad human being. Our guests could not stop talking about how much fun she was - the perfect amount of laid back and out of the way and also fun and quirky to get people to engage in the photos. Catalina does an amazing job of capturing the authentic moments that aren't staged throughout the day. It is so special to have photos of my wife and I embracing when I thought no one was looking. Catalina does an amazing job of somehow being everywhere all at once without anyone noticing.

Catalina was so easy to work with throughout the planning process and did a great job of scouting first look locations for us in our favorite neighborhood. She does a perfect amount of staged photos and spur of the moment creative shots. We used her for our engagement shoot and our wedding and I cannot recommend her enough. By the end of our wedding day when she was leaving I told her I wanted to be best friends with her because we enjoyed sharing our day with her so much. I can only say positive things about my experience with Catalina. She has thought of everything when it comes to making your photography unique, and special for your wedding. She went out of her way to go see the venue before the celebration, and find ideal places to take our photos. I was so impressed with the level of detail that she puts into her work. She took the time to get to know me, so all my photos are 100% what I wanted.

Not only is she extremely professional, she is easy to get along with, and pleasant to be around. I think she fit perfectly in with my group and they only have nice things to say about her.

We were lucky enough to have Catalina photograph our wedding last September. I'd seen some of her work online and it was stunning - artful and emotive while still fun and authentic - so we were majorly stoked when it turned out she was available for our big day. From the very start, she was a thorough pleasure to work with and after our initial consult with her, we both felt pretty strongly that she "got" us and what we were going for. During the ceremony and reception Catalina had the most amazing ability of blending in seamlessly, yet simultaneously always managing to be right where the action was. She was such a pro and so easy to work with.

We received a select set of preview photos in the days after the wedding and they were amazing - like jaw-dropping, gorgeous, soulful amazing. When the full set arrived, they were equally outstanding. I never thought I'd be the type to hang wedding photos in my living room, but Catalina's work is so much more than your run-of-the-mill typical wedding photography. Everyone who has seen our wedding photos has been equally impressed - simply put, Catalina is the best!!

I don't even know where to begin- Catalina is the absolute coolest. Our wedding day took place in Big Sur, California- and due to the amount of rain the coast saw last year around this time/mudslides, we had to relocate our wedding venue with 10 days to go before our date! I remember talking to Catalina just before we confirmed our plan B, and she was so calm and awesome- I felt like we were on the same page the entire time. Her reaction to this news was about the same as mine- several laughs and questions, but we knew regardless of whatever June 10th brought, it would be epic and captured in it's purest form. Catalina was amazing at setting time slots and keeping each other up to date throughout the planning process- the hours we had with her before our ceremony began were a bit all over the place between Carmel Valley and Highway 1, and she was so good at knowing when we'd have to rap up one location to move on to the next, which is definitely needed on your wedding day! Traveling around with her was like adventuring the coast with a friend- she was down to pull over anywhere with a good view, grab a couple fun shots, and keep going. I loved that about her!!! She honestly made our entire day just amazing- so many of our wedding guests approached us asking how we found such a cool wedding photographer. And once we received the images back, we were speechless. She has such an original aesthetic and look to her photos, which was exactly what I was looking for! Beautiful tones, a grainy/vintage finish- so timeless. THANK YOU again Catalina for not only delivering the dreamiest wedding photos, but for making our day that much more memorable. Already looking for another reason to shoot with her again! xo

Catalina was such a joy to work with. She did our engagement photos in Oregon and shot our wedding in Sonoma. Our wedding day was a lot hotter than expected and the way she manuvered through the heat, constantly thinking five steps ahead was greatly appreciated by us. She is thoughtful in her approach and has an incredible eye for how she sees things. (We constantly are told by our friends and family how amazing our pictures look). She is professional, personal, and knows how to connect with the bride and groom. 5/5 and we would recommend her for any special occasion.

If you are looking for a photographer who is warm, organized, real and INSANELY talented, look no further than Catalina!! From the moment we first spoke on the phone, she made me feel comfortable, and reassured that the ultra-important task of documenting our wedding day was in good hands!

Coming from Texas, the first time we met with Catalina was for our engagement shoot. As a couple who generally hates to be photographed, Catalina helped us relax and feel completely natural. The same was true for our wedding day. I have heard numerous comments from family, wedding party and guests about how fun and easy it was to work with Catalina. Is there a way to give someone more than five stars? As many other reviewers have stated, Catalina does a phenomenal job capturing the emotion of your wedding day, but goes above and beyond the call of duty throughout the planning process with her professionalism, attention to detail, and overall positive approach. She understood our vision from day one and every meeting with her was a breath of fresh air, particularly in those final, stressful days of planning! We were lucky enough to book her well in advance of our wedding, and in addition to producing beautiful heirloom engagement and wedding day photos for us, she was also huge help in recommending other vendors, which made a really big difference in how smoothly everything ran! Catalina was one of the best investments we made for our wedding and I cannot sing her praises enough!

Catalina Jean did our engagement photos and they are absolutely stunning. She was very responsive to emails and calls, and we were able to set up a day and time that easily worked for everyone. She even accommodated our little dog in the session! We got a preview of our session within a week of the shoot, and got the rest of the photos within the time frame she quoted us (about a month). We are SO happy with the photos she took we are having a hard time deciding which ones to order! She is a top notch person and a top notch photographer. A+++

Catalina was a dream to work with; passionate about her work, a great communicator, very organized, and so easy to be around. We met a few times before the wedding to talk about how she'd capture the day and after each meeting we felt totally confident things were going to go really smoothly.

Catalina was one of the best investments we made when planning for our wedding. Leading up to the wedding she was responsive and even made time for us to meet with her in person so she could get to know us and our style. At the wedding she helped keep the entire day on track. We had a wedding of 250+ people and both my husband and I have big families. Catalina seamlessly organized the family photos quickly and made everyone laugh! Even months after the wedding my family still talks about how awesome our photographer was! When we got our photos back we were floored with how beautiful they were. The photos she captured from our wedding were better than I could have imagined! Catalina has some amazing talent as a photographer. She has the most warm down-to-earth personality. I want her as a friend :) She is simply the best. We planned our elopement to Oregon from Wisconsin, and she was so helpful throughout the process. We connected on the vision I had for the wedding and she was so excited for us! Catalina was incredible. She is one of those people you want to be forever-friends with after the wedding. Her style was super unobtrusive and all about Cameron and I feeling the love and magic that was our wedding day. It was important for me not to have the wedding feel like a photo-shoot and she nailed it. We also have a lot of family -- and all the great family politics and drama most people have -- and she took charge, got all the pictures done, and even allowed us time to enjoy our cocktail hour! She is sweet, funny, and lovely to be around to bout! But none of that even speaks to her work!!! She is a true artist. We've only seen our sneak peeks and we are blown away. She captured amazing moments that were candid and real and just breath taking. I could not recommend her more. Catalina was a total dream come true -- her work is beautiful, her artistry and creativity are unmatched, and she was incredibly kind, professional, and courteous. We planned our wedding from afar (see my husband's review above mine), and she completely set our minds at ease during the whole process. It's impossible to imagine a better wedding photographer than Catalina Jean Photography. Catalina's work is beautiful and unique, she makes the planning process stress-free, and she's just a fun, energetic person to have at your wedding!

We planned our Portland, OR wedding from across the country and had been given a list of recommended photographers, but as we looked through their portfolios we found ourselves underwhelmed. We wanted someone who would bring something a little different, with the editorial perspective of an artist. I'm so glad we looked beyond the list we'd been given and found Catalina, because she did exactly that. She has a style that's both classic and all her own.

From our first meeting with her, she was extremely enthusiastic and made us feel like our wedding was genuinely important to her. And on the wedding day she did a spectacular job of scouting out locations for first look and family photos. She really put a lot of thought into it, and all we had to do was follow her lead. She put everyone at ease and gently directed us the entire way. I don't even remember seeing her during the ceremony and dinner, but the photos prove that she was everywhere, capturing amazing shots of all the key moments and lots of small details that I would never have seen if not for her.

In short, I can't recommend Catalina highly enough!

I'm not sure anyone could have asked for a better photographer. Catalina is friendly, energetic, and above all, AWESOME at her art. She has an eye for the smallest details (from a pre-wedding questionnaire, to creating a timeline, to scouting the venue out for lighting/backdrops), but is also able to bring such an energy to the actual event that everyone's smiles seem just a little bigger because of her. Planning a wedding can be daunting and finding a wedding photographer that you feel can truly capture your wedding story can be even more stressful! A dear friend recommended Catalina Jean Photography after I had been scouring websites for Portland area wedding photographers for days. Once I saw her site I immediately contacted her for an appointment. When we actually met Catalina Jean, heard her passion for her career, and saw her portfolio of work I knew the search for the best Portland wedding photographer was complete - we booked her ASAP!

Once our wedding day arrived I was so excited for Catalina's arrival and to see how she would document our wedding story. My husband and I felt completely at ease with Catalina and I truly feel she captured our love, personality and the vibe of our big day. She was very professional, kind, and most of all you could feel how excited she was for us on our special day and how honored she was to be the one to capture it all for us.

Once we received the final images we literally lost it - the images she captured are literally works of art. The wedding images are incredible and I am so grateful that we went with Catalina Jean Photography for our Portland OR wedding - we will have these incredible images forever. I highly recommend purchasing one of Catalina's fine art wedding albums. We purchased one and again Catalina was great to work with during the creation of the album. It's so nice to have this album to look through with my husband that tells our wedding story from beginning to end.

Catalina photographed our Portland wedding elopement and she did an absolutely fantastic job. The weather was horrible; freezing cold, raining and windy, and she was a total trooper. She got us EXACTLY the kind of Christmas photos we were hoping for, with sparking lights and a warm glow.
Catalina took us all over town to get the best kinds of backgrounds for our photos, and gave us the urban vibe we requested. Catalina isn't into the staged, dorky wedding photos of generations prior... she tells a story with her art, and really captures the love between the couple. I highly recommend her work to anyone looking for a photographer to make their day special.

We wanted a wedding photographer who could capture natural, timeless and candid images of our intimate 10-guest wedding. Catalina was a perfect fit for us in so many ways. To start with, she was enthusiastic and gracious about shooting our wedding despite its small size, which was not the case with many other vendors we reached out to as we planned our wedding. From the planning stages, to our actual wedding day, to delivering all our photos a few weeks later, Catalina was a total pro. She is warm, super skilled and has an incredible eye for capturing emotions that we now get to relive through all our photos. We are both pretty camera shy, but Catalina put us at ease and we ended up with so many portraits that really captured who we are. We only had Catalina for a couple hours, so we were very surprised and impressed when she gave us hundreds of gorgeous images, from portraits to candids to beautiful detail shots of our location that I didn't think to ask for, but am so grateful to have. On the day of our wedding Catalina came early and scouted out a number of spots to shoot and kept us on schedule and relaxed, even when the coming rain meant that we had to move our outdoor portraits to before the ceremony at the last minute. I can't over emphasize how valuable it was to have such a calming and competent person making things work when we were too overwhelmed to think clearly. When you work with Catalina, you know you're in good hands and have nothing to worry about! If you're not into cheesy flash-lit portraits and are looking for someone who can tell the unique story of your wedding through heirloom-quality images, Catalina is your photographer.

Wow, what can I say about Catalina? She is the most talented photographer you will find to document your special wedding day or event. Her pictures speak for themselves, but I can attest that they are so beautiful, and she expertly captures the emotion, small moments, and precious candids throughout the day. What's more, she is incredibly kind, professional, communicative and a pleasure to work with. Many of our guests commented on how nice and professional she was at the event, and I so enjoyed meeting and talking with her in the planning leading up to the wedding day. She got us back our photos very quickly, and they were more amazing than I could have ever imagined. So many people have commented on how beautiful they are! I highly recommend Catalina to anyone looking to document a special moment in their lives!

Catalina was an absolute delight to work with. Her work is incredible, with a unique, creative angle to them - so much more special than generic photos where everyone just smiles at the camera and does standard poses. I knew that I wanted our photos to have an editorial feel, and when I found her website I saw that she was just what we were looking for. She was a bit out of our price range, but I contacted her anyways, hoping that we would be able to work something out. She was very accommodating and let me know what options we had with our budget, and we were able to pick a perfect package. My parents didn't understand why I was so adamant on having a wonderful photographer - they said they never even look at their wedding photos. That is exactly WHY I wanted an amazing photographer! So that I could enjoy looking back at our photos. Catalina was so professional, friendly, helpful during the entire process, which was awesome considering I was the wedding planner and we had about two months to figure everything out! Not having to stress about the photography was a huge weight off my shoulders. She asked great questions about what types of photos we'd want, the time frame of the ceremony, and during the day of was very laid back and easy going which was great because it was a stressful day! She got countless "money shots" in such a short time which I was very thankful for - and that takes talent! She scouted the event location beforehand and had plenty of ideas for photos but also went with the flow and played around with different locations. The result was a beautiful collection of photos that capture the feeling and memory and energy of that day. They are not just photos, they are almost alive. Catalina is a true artist with an incredible talent to harness peoples' spirits through photography. I am so thankful that we found her and that she was willing to work with us! You could not go wrong selecting her as your photographer for a special event.

Catalina was an incredible find! My husband and I just happened across her website on a quest to find a wedding photographer that focused more on feelings and nature than on pomp and showiness. We could not have been more impressed with Catalina's skill at capturing moments that bring back floods of warm memories as well as her professionalism, kindness and passion for her job and life. I give Catalina my highest recommendation as a photographer and am fortunate that she is part of our wedding story.

I'm so glad that we found Catalina. Both she and her husband photographed our wedding, and they were both so fun to work with. Catalina was very flexible about travel (coming to a remote island in another state), and very prompt and communicative in all of our interactions before the wedding. Catalina also offered a range of options that helped us get just the right amount of photo coverage without being at all confusing. On the day of, she and her husband actually showed up early and took photos of the set-up process, which turned out to be some of my favorites. The images she captured of the ceremony, dinner, and the party afterwards are beautiful, and really come together to tell the story of the whole day. I 100% recommend Catalina, she is an absolute gem.

There is no one better I can think of to take wedding photographs, or capture any of life's important moments. She has an unbelievable eye and an intuition to capture breathtaking images. We could not have been happier with the moments/photographs she had taken for both our engagement and wedding. She has all the great qualities of a professional photographer: she's on time, responds to your emails/questions in a timely manner, easily accessible, does her homework/research/scouting (on clients and venue), accommodates the "feel" her clients want in their portraits, and above everything else is very personable and easy to talk to. Catalina is an amazing artist with the ability to make moments last a life time. I will be using her services in future and recommending her to others.

My now-husband and I met Catalina a year ago to interview her as our wedding photographer. She is sweet, personable, funny, and professional. We not only fell in love with her photography style, but also her personality. And she didn't mind all the questions we threw at her!

We got married in February of this year and feel so blessed to have had Catalina photograph our special day. She has a beautiful eye when it comes to capturing emotion and "the whole picture." When we look at our photos, we recall everything that happened in that moment.

We did a lot of research on Portland area photographers and the market is saturated. However, only a few have an artistic feel to their work - a true photographer's perspective. Catalina is one of the few and that's why we chose her. We really wanted someone to tell our story, while being sensitive to some of the anxieties that come with broken families at big events. Catalina was able to keep everyone organized who needed to be organized, listened to our needs, and made me feel like I was in especially good hands. Our day was perfect, stress free, and now we have a collection of photos to remind us of that day.

She provided a well-organized online gallery to view and purchase prints and share with friends and family, but also provided us with a thumb drive of our collection of edited photos. And the best part - she didn't just download them all and give them to us; she really takes the time to review the ones that are worth sharing. That showed us that she really takes pride in her work and her brand.

We treasure her photos even more as my grandfather passed away shortly after the wedding. He was a guest via Skype - something not easy to capture on film - but Catalina got the shots that I will forever keep safe. We are about to lose another family member who attended the wedding too. I'm so glad we were able to bring all our friends and family together and have those moments professionally recorded.

Catalina is a dream to work with. She is detailed, committed, trustworthy, and just the kind of personality you want around you on your wedding. She made it easy to sit back, relax, and trust that she was getting absolutely everything. She captured details and even some people that I, as the bride, never even got a chance to see on the day of and would have missed entirely if not for her. The photographs she took are absolutely stunning and will be treasured by our family for generations to come. She managed to truly capture how much love my husband and I have for each other and that is priceless. I recommend her to everyone I know in the North West on a regular basis because I truly believe she's the best choice that can be made in a wedding photographer.

There are not enough words to articulate how incredible our experience was with Catalina. She is the total package; an amazing photographer, who I would recommend to anyone! She took two very camera-shy individuals and produced beautiful photographs that really captured our wedding day and aesthetic. She was professional, always timely with her response, and flexible. Additionally, Catalina’s personality was so incredibly infectious and enthusiastic, that she really put us at ease during pictures and somehow elevated us even higher than we thought we already were. It is obvious she loves what she does!

We are so thankful for the opportunity to work with her. She was a fantastic addition to our wedding.

Just a little more to add … My father-in-law used to be an events photographer and could not stop talking about how impressed he was with her. What a gem!

Where do I begin? When Ben and I were searching for a photographer, we were both very discouraged! The cheapest price we could find in the town where we were getting married was outrageous, and worst of all, the photography was not artistic and seemed boring! Ben's sister had gotten married a few years back, so we asked her for advice and she recommended craigslist. Alas, Catalina. We fell in love with her photos immediately and her price was completely reasonable. As soon as we decided to go with Catalina, I knew we were going to have our wedding captured in the most beautiful way possible, and I was right. Catalina did an amazing job and she was also fun to work with. I am totally in love with our wedding photos and couldn't have been happier with our choice. Catalina has a great eye, she's artistic, fun and just totally awesome! She also drove from Portland to Lummi Island, Washington for our day, so she travels too!

Catalina is the most talented & creative photographer my husband and I have ever encountered. She took our engagement, as well as our wedding photos. She captured the themes we wanted perfectly and was prepared beforehand for her shoots, which made our wedding day (as well as our engagement session) flow seamlessly. During our engagement session she made us feel so comfortable and at ease, providing encouragement all throughout and making us feel like our photo-shoot was the best she'd ever captured. On our wedding day, she brought a vibe of peace-even when we had to rearrange our photo schedule-and made sure she didn't miss a single detail of our wedding day. For both sessions we received our edited photos back within weeks. She gave us all the necessary tools to access our photos and her work was stunning. We were so grateful for the time and effort she put into making our photos absolutely beautiful while still making sure to get them to us in a timely and efficient manner. Before our wedding date, she took time to correspond with us, making sure she had all the specifics in line and that we were all on the same page. Our engagement & wedding photos are more artistic & beautiful than we ever imagined, thanks to Catalina. We are ecstatic to share them with our friends & family-who are so amazed by her work-and to fill our home with the lovely images she captured of two of the most important seasons of our lives. We really enjoyed working with Catalina, and have been so thrilled with the results. She was professional and capable in our pre-shoot meeting. She asked a lot of questions to understand exactly what we were looking for. She was incredibly flexible with our wonky scheduling (due to job chaos on my part). She was patient and thorough at the actual 2 shoots that we did with her. She was so fast in producing the finalized edits, also. We couldn't believe how soon after our honeymoon we were able to access all of the pictures. Our friends have just been amazed by the results, and she made them so easy for us to access. I would (and already have) recommend her for anyone I know. Our pictures are so beautiful that you wish you were the ones marrying us.
