Bridal Appointment
Cannot say enough good things about my experience at Carlisle's! The staff were so welcoming and kind, and I felt so well taken care of throughout my bridal appointment. They have a large selection of dresses in a more affordable price range (as compared to other local bridal salons), and the dresses were all high quality. So excited about the dress I found there! -

The people at Carlisle's were fantastic to work with. They helped me to find a beautiful dress that I normally would have overlooked on the racks. They were incredibly responsive, helpful, and made the selection and fitting process very easy. Thank you, ladies! -

My mother and I both got our dresses at Carlisle and the staff couldn't have been better. Jan even helped me pick a necklace to match my dresses. I highly recommend Carlisle as a place to get a wedding dress. -

I was married on April 14, 2015 at the Courtyard Marriott Isla Verde in Puerto Rico. I live in Washington, DC and was born and raised in Pittsburgh. I got my dress over a year in advance from Carlisle's because my mom got her wedding dress there. I picked the first dress I tried on(but tried on many) and the service was excellent. I started the alteration process approximately a month in advance. I had lost a significant amount of weight and my dress needed a lot of work. They happily worked with me to get my appointments in while I was in town. It was a wonderful experience and I had my dream wedding with the most perfect dress. Jan has an amazing business with wonderful staff!!!! -

This place was wonderful for finding my dress! I knew I wanted straps, so one other place only let me try on dresses with straps. I came to Calisle's and they said they could add/alter straps to any dress I wanted. I ended up buying a strapless and they ordered some extra lace from the bottom trim of the dress and added the straps. It turned out beautiful!! The consultants at this store are able to take your ideas and get a vision of it, even if they have to make some alterations. The price was amazing too, I was so happy with everything about this shop! -

I purchased my wedding dress and bridesmaids' dresses at Carlisle's. They provided amazing customer service and I could not be any happier with mine and my girls' dresses. My dress fit amazingly after alterations and even was perfect to wear when I took my wedding shoes off and opted for flip flops. I have seen so many brides tripping over their dresses and I am so grateful that Carlisle's took care of my dress so well. They also provided me with valuable directions right before the wedding date to ensure that I would not discolor my veil and other useful tips with ensuring my dress was on correctly. I would recommend for any bride or moms to try Carlisle's for their dress choices. -

My mother bought her dress at Carlisle's in the 60's and I was a little hesitant to shop there but I am so happy that I did!!! My dress was amazing, unique and quite reasonably priced!!! I felt beautiful and everyone said I looked stunning and could not believe how perfect my dress was for the occasion (we married on a boat and my dress was chiffon with a flowing silhouette). Please go there, let them pick some dresses for you and be amazed! I would never have selected this gown for myself and I am so happy that I tried it on and fell in love with it!!! And they alterations were amazing quick and well done so it is truly a fully service salon. Thank you! -

I cannot make enough positive comments about Carlisle's of Pittsburgh! After attending her fiancé's brothers wedding in the UK, the couple decided they wanted to have a British wedding (think Will & Kate) which is an all day/evening affair with the bride changing gowns for the evening festivities. Not being made out of money, I gave my daughter a budget and off we went to Carlisle's. Not only did Jan (the wonderful woman who assisted us) find the perfect 2 gowns for my daughter, but also came in so under budget that I was able to pay for alterations to both gowns and shoes as well! I highly recommend Carlisle's of Pittsburgh! -

I am so glad that I picked Carlisle's to purchase my wedding dress. Every girl dreams about the day they go to pick out their wedding dress and when that day came for me, it was a blast. We laughed, we cried and I felt like a princess. The staff at Carlisle's is very nice and not overbearing at all. They were honest with me about what looked good and what didn't and I never felt pressured to buy anything. It felt as though they genuinely cared about finding me the perfect dress and I ended up finding the most gorgeous dress that fit me like a glove. I also bought my veil and tiara there as well. The dress came in when they told me it would and the little alterations that were made went smoothly and were done in a timely manner. You always hear horror stories about bridal salons but I can honestly say that Carlisle's was great and nothing went wrong. Everything came in on time and the dress ended up being more perfect than I ever thought it could be. I also liked that in addition to name brands, Carlisle's also has unique, affordable dresses that you can't find anywhere else. I give Carlisle's two thumbs up and I would recommend them to any woman looking for a wonderful wedding dress experience, from start to finish. While you're there, ask for Amanda Gussman. She is AWESOME! -

I went to a bridal show in Cranberry where Carlisle's hosted a fashion show. I saw a dress (I think they call her "Mandy") come out and just knew I had to try it on. I made an appointment a few weeks later and once I put "Mandy" on I fell in love. The ladies at Carlisle's were so great to work with - everyone was so sweet, patient and helpful.
Between the time that I ordered my dress and when it came in I had moved from Ohio to Florida so scheduling fittings were a little difficult for me. They were more then happy to work with me and squeeze me in when I was available to come into town.
They helped me pick out a perfect veil (I had a beach wedding so I didn't even thing a veil was possible!) and I am so glad I went with one!
The alterations at first seemed a little expensive, but after talking to my friends who had also had their wedding dresses altered at other locations - the price seemed actually pretty reasonable.
From the first try on to the final fitting I had an exceptional experience at Carlisle's. They treated me like I was the first and only bride to come into their store. -

I stumbled across Carlisle's while hunting for bridesmaids dresses in the North Hills. I'm so lucky I found them! Although the dresses are a bit more here than some of the big chains (David's Bridal or Alfred Angelo's), I felt as though they offered more variety and some more quality gowns. The sales associates were very helpful and professional. I would recommend them to anyone and everyone. -

I got my wedding gown at Carlisles and couldn't have been happier. The lady who assisted me was so sweet and knew very well what would work with my body type. I also had my alterations done there and the women who took care of my dress was very excellent with the quality of work. I found my gown for $1,000 cheaper there than another bridal shop. Who wouldn't love that?! -

The only reason flexibility was four out of five stars is because I had to leave work early for one of my fittings, because of the seamstress' hours. Other than that, they're wonderful with nervous brides! They had a great selection, good prices, and worked with me and my budget! I like their seamstress on the premises too. -

I bought my Venus Bridals dress from Carlisle's. I had a wonderful experience! After trying on dresses at three bridal shops where the samples were too small and nothing really "blew me away", Carlisle's was a breath of fresh air. The consultant pulled about five dresses right off the bat. The dress I ended up buying was I think the third one I tried on at this shop. It fit like a glove & the consultant seemed truly thrilled to have found me my dream dress.
Although I was a bit late in dress shopping only 6 months before my wedding, the dress arrived in approximately 4 months. Alterations were a little pricey but well worth the money. The bustle was great quality and didn't break (I've heard many stories of broken bustles!), lace was removed from a shawl and added to straps so that it looked as though it was made to be there, and the alteration process only took three weeks.
The only reason I marked less than a 5.0 for Flexibility is that the alterations appointments were typically only able to be scheduled on Fridays (hard to take off work) and Sundays (usually a busy day for me!). Otherwise, everything was absolutely perfect from start to finish! -

My dress was beautiful and they picked exactly what I wanted because they understood and listened to me. I was a little put off because a few of my friends bought their dresses in other places and the consultants called them to schedule fittings. I had to call several times to schedule fittings and even find out if my dress was in. My bustle kept falling out but my dress was made with a lot of tulle and was heavy. I'm not sure if it was the dress or the bustle wasn't done properly. I will say I was so happy that they stored my dress and veil the entire time when most places will make you take it with you. -

I always loved going to appointments at Carlisle's. All of the staff was always excited to see me and were very supportive and encouraging. I have them a 4.5 for quality only because my dressed was hemmed a bit too long. It was just so slightly that I stepped on it every so often and I had to be careful. It could have just been because the dress hung lower throughout the night. I gave a 4 on flexibility because they are only available certain hours for alterations and it just didn't fit my schedule well. Overall, a great place and good quality dresses! -

I have heard of people having negative experiences with this bridal salon (particularly with rude staff) but my personal experience was fairly positive. This was the first and last store I tried on wedding dresses. I ended up choosing the second or third dress I tried. So I would say that was very positive. The dress was reasonably priced, considering how expensive they are these days. And I knew that it was the right dress for me immediately. The sales people were friendly but not overbearing. They helped me choose some styles that fit what I was looking for in a dress. Overall, I was happy with my experience. -

Very nice bridal salon in Pittsburgh area. Not a huge selection, but they do have plenty of styles and designs to choose from. They really take their time to help you pick the right gown, and don't put pressure on you if you aren't ready to commit on the first trip. Alterations took 3 trips and sometimes I felt like I wasn't being heard, but in the end my gown turned out gorgeous and I'm very happy I choose Carlisle's. -

I Got my dress here and although I loved the dress, the alterations were almost 500 dollars and they ended up telling me that i needed to add straps to my strapless dress after i ordered it and waited months for it to come in. The end result was amazing but i was irritated because no one ever mentioned straps to me until i had already purchased the gown. I loved my veil that I got here also but they originally mentioned that I could hem it but then never brought it up during alterations and tried to talk me out of it by saying that it is supposed to be that long whenever i asked about it. The seamstress accidentally took my veil home when she was doing alterations on my dress and I needed the veil for the hair trial that night so luckily they let me borrow a small veil for the trial. Everything turned out perfect in the end but there were lots of unexpected incidents. -

I fell in love with the very first dress I tried on and I bought it that day on the spot. I am VERY pleased with my choice of dress and quality of it (especially for the price). On my wedding day, I got so many compliments on my dress that it was ridiculous! I even had men telling me how gorgeous it was!
However, I have issues with how Carlisle's handles certain situations. When it came time to go bridesmaid dress shopping, we headed to Carlisle's. I was told that the dresses would come in in 4-5 months and that they would call me. When it hit the 5 month mark, I hadn't received a call and had to call them since it was only about 2 months away from the wedding and the girls still needed to get the dresses altered. When I called, they said that the dresses should come in in the next shipment and that I should give them 2 weeks longer. So I waited and had to call them back yet again, only to have them tell me that they had called me a week ago to say they were in. I told them that I never received a call and asked them to verify my number. It turns out that the last number of my phone number was incorrect. They had my number correct when my dress came in, so at some point between the time I got my dress and the time the bridesmaid dresses came in, someone must have bumped the delete button on the computer system and deleted the last number in my phone number and then just guessed at what number it was. Instead of calling back to make sure I received their call, they decided to just sit back and wait for me to call. And thank goodness I did! -

I got my dress for my May 2016 wedding at Carlisle's. The saleswoman was very helpful and did not force me to try on dresses outside of my price range. I was very pleased with the purchase of the dress. I live out of town and was concerned about leaving my dress at the shop, but there was no issues with storing the dress at the shop until I was ready to do my alterations. Scheduling the alterations was a bit difficult as they only do not have Saturday appointments for alterations, but I made it work. -

The ladies in the shop were very nice and professional. However, do NOT have your alterations done here. After hundreds of dollars in alterations, the seamstress they used did not properly reattach and resecure the sections that were redone. I pulled the dress out of of the bag a couple days before the wedding to see if it needed steamed to discover that the seamstress had not done her job. I spent another hundred more for emergency repairs. I let the shop know about the poor alterations and they offered me $30 back from my $200 in alterations and blamed me for not seeing the defects sooner, which were primarily along the back of the dress (which they zipped up upon refitting). So disappointing. -

It is such a shame that the Carlisle's service team is so unfriendly. We had a special situation for our wedding party - girls and guys mixed in on both the bride and groom sides. I knew that I would have to find the absolute PERFECT dresses to pull things off and make everything look great. I was so happy when I started looking at the selection in Carlisle's. They have so much to offer, and I found the perfect dresses for all women in the wedding party.
However, things quickly went downhill. 90% of our wedding party was from out of town, so we had to coordinate how to get the dresses to everyone without paying extra shipping. We chose the dresses in early September, and the girls had their sizing in by December. Our sales representative assured us that as long as we had the measurements in before New Year's, the dresses would be in by March, when all of the wedding party would be in Pittsburgh for my bridal shower. When my shower weekend came around, the dresses were not in and the sales representative denied assuring us with any of this. Of course we did not get anything in writing, because we had trusted her word. On top of lying, she was extremely rude to my mother and was sour with us from that point on. We ended up paying $100 extra in shipping to get the dresses to our party. I am very disappointed that no effort, apology or even social grace was extended toward us, not only as a customer bringing them business, but just out of common decency.
Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this business and I am so disappointed at the way my family and friends were treated. -

Carlisle’s had a great seleciton of dresses. My consultant was lovely and made me feel very comfortable. I ended up buying the first dress I tried on!! Unfortunately my dress was ordered too big, I trusted the owner when she said to order a size 16 after she took my measurements, she said I needed to order the dress to the biggest size of my body... my hips. For reference I wear a size 6/8 jeans... When the dress came in, I was swimming in it, I took it to a few reputable seamstresses in the area and they all told me to return to Carlisle’s because they were uncomfortable with how much alterations needed to be done. I spent $500 on alterations and countless trips to Carlisle’s. Ten days before my wedding I went for my final fitting and my dress still did not fit!!! Due to the excessive alterations the dress lost it’s integrity and looked nothing like the dress I fell in love with months before. The seamstress had to put double cups in the busts to make it appear that I filled out the top... instead when I looked in the mirror I felt uncomfortable and fake. The front of the dress would not lay flat, the hem was too short, the buttons down the back were lying in my butt crack. It was a nightmare..
I ended up buying a size 8 dress off the rack at a local bridal store and only needed a hem (thank god)!!
I should have spoke up during my appointments and voiced that I was extremly unhappy with the progress or lack of progress with my alterations. However I was trying to enjoy my time as a bride & put my trust in the professionals. The owner was present for all of my fittings..I do believe that they tried there best to make my dress fit but it was not good enough and I was unhappy with the end result.
Carlisle's does not stand behind there work or customer satisfaction. I would not recommend Carlisle's for your alterations.-

My dress was gorgeous however we were deceived and tricked. When we purchased the dress we were told that it would be in 2 months prior to the wedding date. When I called 3 months before to check on the dress, they told us to read the contract and that the dress was only guaranteed by the wedding date. Since I was getting married in NJ and the place was in PA this was clearly a problem. When my mother called they told her that I didn't have to purchase my dress there and that I could go elsewhere - despite knowing that no one can find a dress within 3 months - while also losing a $700 deposit.
When I did go for my fittings the women were as nice as could be but I was still very disappointed with them telling me that I could get my dress elsewhere.
The seamstress was good but the dress was definitely too long for dancing when it was bustled. And yes I did wear the same shoes to all fittings. -

Brides beware! Carlisles will destroy your dream of the perfect dress. We saw a bridal gown at a show and absolutely loved it. We ordered a bridal gown, mother of the bride gown and mother of the groom gown. All came in too small! Mother of the bride had to have a dress from the rack altered as there was not time to reorder. They offered to add material to the bridal gown which was not acceptable as it would have been very obvious. DO NOT sign any agreements! Owner was very sweet and kind and then turned very nasty and unprofessional. Even though the price may be good, that's all that was good about our experience. We did find a bridal gown at another store and had a beautiful, picturesque wedding. Carlisle's did not tear us down!!! -

Horrible experience here! This was my first time ever looking at dresses and my consultant was useless. She was very rude to me. She kept pulling dresses out of budget. Also, alterations are tripled in price than chain stores like Alfred Angelo. I would never go back here. They don't care about the brides, just commission. -

I was inly allowed to look at three dresses for a start apparemtly i cant cope with more than that. After being advised i could look at the dresses I pucked on i liked and was taken to try on the two picked for me. The sales person either didnt like me or was unable to hold a conversation. Felt like she was there for a sale and it didntatter that it was my wedding dress...no feeling special here please. She then proceded to watch while I underessed...very uncomfortable as was the fact the when she took off one dress she knocked open the curtain and didnt bother to close it my mum who was standing in the storw could see me in my underwear as coyld everyone else buying a dress that day. I did find a dress i loved but thankfully decided to look around before puttug the deposit down. I went to Davids bridal instead they wear lovely i was alloelwed to put on an underskirt and bra while the assistant found me dresses so i didnt feel totally exposed she seem interested and asked me about my big day and i found the perfect dress and got to ring a big bell! Very cute Crystal was a star. I also got my dress, veil, hair piece, underwear and underskirt for less than I paid at carlisle and no alterations were needed! I would reccommend brides headed to carlise bridal just keep driving and go to Davids by the ross park molly. Much better service! -

After very nice service and help for my daughter as she looked for a dress, this shop took our money for a down payment (1/2 of value) on a wedding dress and then "suddenly" could not get the dress any more. We learned this after calling for some information (i.e. they did not contact us when they couldn't get it). Three days have passed since they said they would refund the money and there is no credit and their phone does not answer. Very unhappy mother of the bride who has lost a lot of money to this store! If you have no dress after spending money then the overall rating is 0. -

My experience with Carlisle's was terrible. We went there for my bridesmaid dresses, orange dresses in a nice color are hard to come by. That was the only plus side for them so that's what I put in Value.
The staff was very short with us when we went to look at dresses. We found one we liked and then I came back with my girls (there were 7 bridesmaids, so 8 of us total) and looked at the dress we liked. Everyone agreed they liked it. It was only in one size but it basically fit one of my girls. So they all got measured and ordered their dresses. I found out after the fact that the staff basically insulted all of them, calling them oddly shaped and being rude when they talked about loosing weight for the wedding (two of my girls lost over 20 lbs each from the point they got measured to one month before the wedding). The dresses took a bit longer to come in than was told they would. As the girls picked up the dresses and got home to try to them, we found out the measurements were TERRIBLE! Out of 7 girls only 2 of them would end up needing minor alterations. The others need panels added, corset lacing to cover up the fact the measurements were 5 inches off in the back of the one girl at the top of her dress and other various adjustments to make the dresses work. On top of the fact that it wasn't the same dress we ordered. The cut of the dress was different, the straps were different and the one in the store was NOT a mermaid fit like the ones that showed up were. The girl that needed a panel added even went up a dress size from what the woman suggested.
I had to order fabric from the company to fix the problems the bad measurements caused. Carlisles at no point offered to pay for the fabric to fix their mistake. They also didn't even try to get the fabric rush ordered. So my girls had 2 weeks to get their dresses altered for the wedding once the fabric came in (took over 4 weeks to come in).
I am thankful I did things ahead of time so that there was that extra cushion of time in there to fix their mistakes. Terrible, terrible, terrible! -

The staff was very rude from the minute we walked in the door. We were told right away that unless we wanted to purchase something "off the rack" (the tone that the saleswoman used was awful) we should not bother wasting our time. I will never step foot in this shop again. -
