Carl Elixir and his team were by far one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Working with Carl in advance of our big day was so seamless and he assuaged any concerns we had about fitting all we wanted within our timeline. We were fortunate that we got to work with both Jeff and Chuck (photographers) and Jon (videographer) - all of whom were AMAZING. Truly. The energy they brought to the day helped calm our jitters, made us feel so beautiful/handsome and important, and helped keep our spirits high - particularly as we were experiencing some touch-and-go weather. Working with this team was a definite highlight - both in the weeks leading up to our wedding and on the day of. We could not recommend Carl and his team more!! If you want unbelievable photos and footage that you will admire for the rest of your life, look no further!

We hired Carl Elixir Studio to provide the photographers and the videographer for our wedding. We were extremely happy with our interactions with them, the photos, and our wedding video and would happily recommend hiring Carl Elixir Studio. Our lead photographer was Jeff Song and our videographer was Ched Nunez. Prior to the wedding, communication was clear about expectations, timing, and what information they needed from us about our shot list. It helped that Jeff had worked at our venue before. They offer multiple packages and the pricing was clear for each. We received exactly what we selected, which included 600 photos and about a half hour long video. On the day of our wedding, the team arrived on time and immediately made us feel comfortable with them. We elected to do our couple and wedding party photos prior to our ceremony. We had to make some location changes on the fly and the team handled that very well. During the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception they were fairly unobtrusive except when we were taking scheduled group photos. We received the photos and video in a very timely manner. Both the photos and video were incredibly beautifully taken and edited. The photos captured both the key parts of our wedding and many candid moments. The video captured our entire ceremony, first dance, and speeches, all with exceptional audio quality. -

Talented and so easy to work with!
Carl Elixir Studio photographed and videographed our wedding, and we had such a great experience working with him and his crew. We had two photographers and two videographers for our huge wedding production at the Waldorf Astoria in DC, which lasted from 8am-11pm, and Carl and his crew stuck with us with enthusiasm and professionalism the entire time. We were wed at a Catholic church in a different city, and I was anxious about this footage/photos because the church's lighting is very dim with lots of shadows, but Carl and his crew handled it like professionals and those pictures/film turned out way better than we'd imagined. He's an expert at finding the light and getting the right angles. We got footage at the Jefferson Memorial and our family agrees that he captured some of the coolest wedding shots they've seen.
On the business end of things, I thought his prices were extremely fair and the packages he offers makes the overall cost a better deal than you might realize. I obtained quotes from 3 other studios and his were by far the best deal. Carl was always very quick to respond to email or call, he met with us at our venue ahead of time at our request, and he took note of what we were looking for and he really delivered!
He took our ideas and ran with them in the best way, adding so much creativity that we couldn't see ourselves. The final photos and video were beautifully edited and exceeded our expectations. He masterfully edited our highlights film and made it exactly what we wanted.
His team was flexible, professional, and easy to be around during the big day, which is hugely important.
We would absolutely work with Carl again and we highly recommend his work. -

Carl Elixir did an amazing job at our wedding. Andy was the specific photograph and he was great to work with. He did an excellent job posing us and our guest for group photos and also captured plenty of candid shots. He had an upbeat and excited attitude throughout the day and made getting our photos taken really enjoyable. We had a list of our "must get" photos and he got every one of them. Carl edits all the photos and they all came out spectacular. Very happy we used Carl Elixir at our wedding. -

Working with Carl Elixir Studios was an incredible experience—an easy 10/10 for professionalism, talent, and overall service.
We had two photographers and one videographer for our wedding—Jeff and Charles as our photographers and Jon as our videographer. We also worked with Jeff for our engagement shoot, and from start to finish, everything exceeded our expectations.
Before booking, we met with Carl via Zoom. He was so helpful and patient, answering all our questions and suggesting engagement shoot locations that were both convenient and visually stunning. Throughout the planning process, Carl was always responsive and accommodating, which made us feel confident and cared for.
Having Jeff for both the engagement shoot and the wedding was such a plus—it allowed us to get comfortable in front of the camera before the big day. Jeff’s passion for his craft truly shows. His excitement every time he found the perfect angle, pose, or lighting made the whole experience fun and relaxed. He often showed us previews of the photos as we went along, which made us even more excited to see the final results.
Charles went above and beyond on our wedding day. Beyond capturing incredible moments, he constantly looked for ways to help—moving our arch for better shots, assisting the groomsmen with boutonnieres, even bringing us drinks during cocktail hour while we were taking photos. His thoughtfulness didn’t go unnoticed and made the day even smoother.
Jon was also wonderful to work with—creative, kind, and full of great ideas that truly came through in the video footage.
We cannot recommend Carl Elixir Studios enough. Their entire team is talented, professional, and genuinely invested in making your day special. You’ll be absolutely blown away by the results! -

We had a great experience with Carl and his team for our wedding on 5/17/2025. From the beginning, Carl was very responsive, communicative, and on top of things. He met with me via phone whenever I had questions. He responded to my emails very quickly, sometimes just hours later. Going into the day, I knew what to expect.
On the day of our wedding, we had Villa as our photographer and Jabraan as our videographer. They were both fantastic. Our original photo spot for the first look, family/friend photos was way too sunny, so Villa worked hard to find us a spot in the shade instead. Although it was not what I initially envisioned, the photos still turned out great. The only issue was that the new spot was in front of a very reflective building, so you could see some shadows of people standing inside/reflections of people on the outside - but I brought this up to Carl, and he helped me edit those photos based on my requests. We also asked for some changes to our wedding video, and he edited that based on our requests as well.
Carl was flexible and easy to work with. Villa and Jabraan were integral in capturing our special day. Our venue was very disorganized, so Villa even helped out with some small tasks that were not part of her job (for example, getting us forks for our cake cutting). I really enjoyed having them there!
Looking back, the only slightly rocky part to this experience was coordinating our meet up for the wedding day. I connected briefly with Villa and Jabraan via email leading up to the day, but I wish I had asked for a phone call to discuss specifics (meet up location, backup location, specific shots we wanted to capture, overall vibe we were going for). But to be honest, it was fine because everything still worked out in the end! -

We really enjoyed our experience working with Carl Elixir Studio. Our main photographer was Charles, and our videographer was Ched. Both of them did an awesome job, were super professional and focused on hitting our key moments throughout the day. Many of our guests commented on how fun Charles is, and how well he worked the crowd to get great shots during the dance portion. Eric, our second shooter, was also great, he really put my husband at ease before the first look. We appreciated our whole team’s dedication to including our special details, like some heirloom pieces I wore and including our family members. We haven’t gotten back our final photos, but Charles also shot our engagement pictures and we really love how they came out. They capture the fun we like to have and how excited we were to get married. Highly recommend Carl Elixir’s team, we feel like we got a good deal for the amazing work our team did for us! -

I had the pleasure of working with Jeff Song (primary photographer), Chris Thomas (secondary photographer), and Ched Nunez (videographer). A talented and passionate trio.
The teams’ enthusiasm was clear and they went the extra mile, even getting down on the floor during our ceremony to get some shots. Ched, our videographer, even endured a bee sting while filming, that's dedication!
Carl Elixir (the studio owner) was a pleasure to work with. He was responsive, organized, and always available to answer our questions. His website is clear and informative, providing the necessary details for planning your special day. While we did not get to pick our specific photographers or videographers (they were assigned to us by Carl), I was able to look at Jeff’s IG before signing the contract.
I highly recommend doing a trial run with your photographer (e.g., the engagement photos) so you know what you do and don’t like. We opted to do our engagement photos in Old Town Alexandria on December 10 and Carl Elixir delivered the photos to us on December 22, ahead of schedule and the holidays, which was awesome and the best surprise.
I highly recommend Carl Elixir and his team for your wedding. Their professionalism, talent, and dedication made for some unforgettable photos that we will have for a lifetime. -

Choosing Carl Elixir and his team for our wedding was by far one of the best decisions we made. From start to finish, our experience was beyond positive! The team was incredibly responsive, addressing all of our questions and concerns promptly. We were drawn to Carl Elixir’s work because of the dramatic, unique style we saw online, and they absolutely delivered on that vision.
During our engagement shoot, there were many people in the background in DC. The team kindly edited them out, making the photos perfect for our invitations.
Although we originally booked another photographer who had moved, we were assigned Jeff instead. I was a bit nervous about the change, but Jeff did NOT disappoint! He was extremely flexible and passionate about his work, ensuring we got the best photos possible. Despite a few hiccups in the timeline, he kept us calm and made us feel our best. I hired Carl Elixir studio for my engagement and wedding photos. I had Jeff Song as my photographer.
Everything was very professional and moved smoothly! I had a halloween wedding and Jeff was 100% onboard with having fun with it and making my creative vision come to life. The engagement photos were taken at a very gorgeous location and his direction was great. He did an amazing job making us feel comfortable and like we were super cool models haha. The day of the wedding he was punctual and made sure everything was covered and nothing important was missed. Everyone I spoke to was very impressed by his demeanor and skill.
The editing on the photos was gorgeous and the turnaround time was reasonable. Definitely worth the money for your special day! -

Carl Elixir Studio was one the best vendors I worked with throughout my wedding planning experience. Carl is amazing at matching couples with a photographer that fits their needs both from a photography style and personality standpoint. We were assigned Andy as our photographer, and from the beginning he made us feel comfortable and confident in his ability to capture our day. They are extremely prompt in their response and delivered my wedding photos just two weeks afterward. We are still gushing at the shots we got, even though lighting was a concern with how bright it was during the day, the shots were absolutely beautiful. My husband is also not very good at taking photos or posing, but Andy and his assistant were very patient with him and captured great shots with his groomsmen. Carl & his team are such talented photographers and videographers and we absolutely adore the photos & video they took of our wedding and the story they tell.
Starting from the engagement photoshoot, Carl & his assistant made us feel so comfortable. I highly recommend Carl Elixir Studio! The entire team is wonderful. We got both photography and videography for our wedding. Our photographer was amazing. She knows how to demand a room in a respectful way. She made us feel very comfortable. She is able to get the shots in a timely manner without sacrificing detail. She is so creative and gets beautiful shots above and beyond expectations. She helped pose us but also allowed us to be ourselves.
The videographers work with the photographers as a team so they knew how to compliment each other without getting in the way of the shot. I honestly forgot they were there which was perfect because they were able to capture all of the moments and allowed us to be in the moment.
The photos were edited and sent to us in a timely manner. We are very happy with the end results! And the price is definitely worth the quality of service you receive! -

Rainy day Rescue
I found Carl Elixir on Instagram and was immediately taken by the emphasis on bold images and unique captures that told so much about the couples and moments depicted. The rates were extremely fair based on the DC market and they were so responsive and helpful in finding out what we needed to be photographed on the day. It rained super hard our whole wedding weekend (even though it was brilliantly sunny the whole week before) and honestly the reassurance from the photographer that we would make it work + run outside for images as we needed to made the day so much less of a bummer. The photographers and videographer from the team were extremely flexible (despite a million vendors occupying every possible space) and made the best of a complicated logistical situation. Love our photos and our highlight video - very happy we went with CE. -

Our videographers Jon and Josh were great as well, recording beautiful footage and capturing moments between us and our guests that were a joy to revisit. The team incorporated our suggestions and requests into the editing process and were always responsive and clear throughout the edit process. We worked with Carl Elixir to capture our wedding ceremonies (we had two separate ceremonies on different days) and our wedding reception. They were amazing! Jeff photographed all three events and is great at making your feel comfortable and directing poses (if like us you are a bit camera shy) for great shots. We loved the shots he was able to capture from both ceremonies! I really cannot recommend Jeff enough! On our reception day, we also had Monica photographing us with Jeff and Anson as the videographer. They were all amazing and helped us capture our day with ease. Working with Carl Elixir Studio was one of the best decisions we made in regards to our wedding. Carl had great communication and was very responsive. I had a couple of questions throughout the process and he always had excellent suggestions that didn't break the bank.
Our photographer, Charles, absolutely KILLED IT! His understanding of light and angles produced unforgettable photos that I would never had thought of. He was hustling all night, everywhere I looked he was taking photos of guests, us, or wedding details. I don't know if this amazing man ever took a break. Charles was charismatic and hilarious which put our entire wedding party at ease especially during our photo session. I cannot tell you how many guests approached me that night and the days after speaking his praise and saying how lovely he was. Charles' energy was contagious and I truly think no photographer could ever fill his shoes. We are so indebted to him! Carl and his assistant are professional, passionate, and very friendly. They are easy to communicate with and really think from our side. They also offer recommendations for makeup and wedding dress rental, which makes the process effortless. We were new to the city and were in a bit hurry for wedding photos (I just called them, and then took the photos in the same week), but thanks to their patience and advice, the result turns out to be great. Carl Elixir captured moments that we will cherish for a lifetime
If a picture can say 1,000 words, then Carl’s pictures say 10,000. We knew we would get the best with Carl being our photographer and we are glad we didn’t skip out. The photos he delivered are just tiers above everything we’ve seen. They have the right balance of depth and softness and brings the moment to life. My husband and I are able to relive all of our wedding emotions and memories from these pictures.
Carl and Chuck’s energy was contagious the day if the wedding. They made all the pre-ceremony pictures enjoyable through the endless marathon of posing. Many laughs were shared from Chuck’s glowing energy. They were able to set the stage and guide you through the vision of the shot, not just telling us what to do. We were able to rely on their direction and they kept us on schedule. The candid shots taken during the ceremony and reception were just as amazing. Our guests raved how much excitement Carl and Chuck brought when it came time for them to take pictures.
While we wouldn’t say our wedding day felt like a blur, we would say it was a long day with so many events that there were times that we had to rush to stay on schedule. The experience with Carl Elixir Photography was amazing. We have Eric Chiu as our photographer for both the engagement session and wedding. He is very passionate and dedicated. He spent more hours than included in our plan to help catch the perfect sunset light for our engagement photos. At the same time, he helped to make us more comfortable as we don't usually get photographed by professionals. On our big day, Eric is also very caring and helpful, and captured the most wonderful moments! All of our photos got a lot of compliments from our friends and families!
Carl also did a great job editing our photos with a super fast turnaround. All in all, amazing team and awesome work, absolutely will recommend to a friend and hire them for a second time! -

The most magical day captured!!!
We booked Carl and his assistant photographer was Chuck. Where do I begin… from our engagement shoot in DC to our wedding day they captured everything so beautifully. Carl was the first vendor I contacted after I booked my wedding venue. I first knew him and his work back in 2018 when he worked on my friend's wedding, where I was a bridesmaid. Working with him as a bride was an even better experience. Carl is very professional and responsive, answering all my questions promptly and helping me feel less nervous. I booked the engagement photo session with him as well, because my fiance is not a fan of being photographed at all. The engagement session went so well that even my fiance said he really enjoyed it! (huge shoutout to Chunk, Carl's assistant for our engagement session). I want to recommend booking an engagement session with Carl, especially if you are not familiar with posing in front of the camera. They made us feel natural, not forced at all, but at the same time they could grasp the best moments. So we felt more comfortable being photographed on our wedding day.
On the day of the wedding Carl and Eric did a great job capturing us, our bridal party, our parents, and our guests. The weather was not perfect but they made it seem perfect. They also had great teamwork with the videography team. Everything happens so fast, and before I realize the day passed. However, thanks to Carl, I could look at the beautiful pictures and relive the day once and once again, for the many years to come.

Others here have said it before, so I can only jump on the bandwagon - but Carl, and his team member Chuck are simply the best photographers in all of the DMV.
He is SO on the ball, responsive, and FAST delivering the highest quality pictures. Regardless of the weather on your shoot day, he will spin pure magic out of any rays of sun, lush clouds, mirrored reflections, or even drops of rain! Carl is especially skilled at outdoor shooting, and makes all his pictures have a romantic, mystical, ethereal aura about them.
In addition to just working a camera like no other, Carl knows so many magical spots in DC. If you are open to a shoot around town, he can suggest so many hidden gems that you would have never thought of. On top of it all, at our wedding, Carl was the most on the ball vendor we had, arriving early, scoping out locations, and even just helping me calm down and relax when stuff was starting to get a little stressful.
Carl and Chuck are just so much fun to be around, they made our wedding pictures look amazing. I found Carl here on wedding wire, and would recommend if you are reading, STOP, and book Carl Elixer!!!
