Alyssa is INCREDIBLE and so wonderful to work with throughout the wedding planning process in Washington, DC! My husband and I were thrilled with our decision to have her photograph our wedding day and our engagement! Alyssa’s style of just enough direction to make sure the photos look good but otherwise capturing us how we are and how we naturally interact is perfect. On the wedding day, she expertly supported family photos with folks with mobility issues in ways that were easy for them to navigate but still resulted in seamless photos. Alyssa’s photos are really the perfect mix of the small moments that made our wedding day so special, the candid laughter and jokes between the two of us and our loved ones, naturally posed family, friend, and wedding party photos, and all the decor and things in between that made the day feel like OUR wedding. Importantly, Alyssa responds quickly to all emails, is extremely organized, and delivered all our photos quickly. Her superpower is capturing the essence of you as a couple and making it look so good! -

We booked Alyssa for our wedding at the recommendation of a friend, and we are so happy we did! Alyssa is professional, organized, friendly, and an incredibly talented photographer. We did an engagement shoot with her about a year before our wedding, and she eased all of our nerves about being in front of a camera.. and the photos were perfect. She is a great communicator, which really put us at ease leading up to our wedding. Her payment/invoice system is easy and clear, and she was always super quick to respond to emails. On our wedding day, she was amazing... friendly & fun while still giving us & our families the direction we needed. The second shooter she brought along was great, as well. We got lots of previews back (like 50!) the very next day and absolutely LOVE them all. I can't recommend her enough! -

Alyssa and her second shooter Tia were fantastic! Alyssa’s pricing was reasonable and she listened to our individual wants/needs. Her questionnaire was thorough and it made sure she captured what was meaningful to US. She was on time, non-intrusive, direct with friends and family for portraits, and she gave us a sneak peek the night of our wedding! Her shooting style is real and meaningful to the couple. Thank you Alyssa!! We truly love our pictures. -

Let me just start by saying that Alyssa is a magic maker. She is able to capture the beauty in every moment no matter what is thrown at her. Alyssa will be a great addition to anyone’s wedding team and we couldn’t recommend her more. We were drawn to Alyssa’s shooting and editing style after she was recommended to us by our wedding planner, The Otherside Creatives. Alyssa was warm and welcoming during our first call together and we knew she would be a perfect fit for us. As she splits her time between NYC and Baltimore (and we are a NYC/Baltimore couple) we were able to do our engagement photos in Brooklyn and our wedding in Baltimore, which was a huge perk. Alyssa managed to make our engagement photos look so ethereal and dreamy despite bad weather. She was also so encouraging and made us feel comfortable as first time photo shoot participants! Alyssa accommodated a date change for us due to the pandemic and was in constant communication leading up to our wedding. The day of our wedding Alyssa continued to cheer us on and make sure that we got all of the shots (and more!) that we were looking for. She wrangled guests and bridal party members like the best of them! Alyssa provided us with sneak peek photos less than 24 hours after our ceremony which were beyond our expectations. The photos are so gorgeous and we can’t wait to relive our wedding from Alyssa’s perspective when we receive our full album. Alyssa even surprised us with a video reel on her Instagram which was such a treat to watch a bit of our big day in action. Without a doubt Alyssa was a huge asset to our wedding day and we highly recommend booking with her. -

WOW. I have no words for just how amazing Alyssa is! Alyssa was recommended to us by my sister’s wedding photographer, and we couldn’t be happier. Alyssa initially met us for drinks and appetizers in the city, and it immediately felt like we were friends. She’s so easy to get along with and really seemed to understand my husband and I as a couple. When it came time to plan our engagement shoot, Alyssa was on-board to brave the cold in November and help us recreate our first date - a picnic in the park. Alyssa was so great about including our two dogs in the photos as well. Her turn-around time for the engagement photos was less than what was promised in the contract, and we couldn’t wait to see her again for our wedding! Once COVID happened, we were unsure of what was going to happen with our wedding. Alyssa was not only flexible with our lack of new plan, but she was there to listen to us vent about our concerns with everything happening in the world. Ultimately, we decided to have a small backyard, immediate family only ceremony and push our big celebration with extended family and friends to 2021. Unfortunately, Alyssa is unavailable for our new 2021 date (her new couple is EXTREMELY lucky to have her!), but she was willing to make the trek out to my parents’ home in New Jersey for our elopement/micro-wedding. Alyssa arrived prepared with her mask and followed all social-distancing protocols. She made us feel safe, but we also felt like we were getting the exact same Alyssa from our engagement shoot. When my mom asked if she could receive a family photo prior to receiving the full file of photos, Alyssa didn’t hesitate to share an additional photo with her. Alyssa delivered our final pictures in well under the 6-8 weeks as stated in our contract, and there are too many amazing ones to choose from for an album! We’re so incredibly thankful that we found Alyssa!

Planning a wedding during the COVID-19 pandemic has been stressful for brides. However, I appreciate that Captured by Alyssa reached out to me to while planning for the uncertain to alleviate some of that stress. She was detailed and provided us options. When planning a wedding, you want to know that your vendors actually care about their clients. I would definitely recommend her, especially during an already stressful time of wedding planning. Also, her pictures are gorgeous! -

Simply the best!
My husband and I could not be happier with how our wedding pictures turned out. We received so many compliments from family and friends. These pictures captured our wedding day perfectly! Alyssa executed each shot I had requested for the day and truly captured them exactly how I had imagined. From getting ready with my bridesmaids, walking down the aisle with my Dad, pictures down by the water, and AMAZING lighting at sunset with my new hubby, she gave us everything we hoped for and more! Hands down will be recommending Alyssa to family and friends in the near future. -

Alyssa is AMAZING! She is so flexible, responsive, does amazing work. Open to your ideas but comes with a lot of her own (which was great for me). We have a big family and she was able to wrangle everyone and get the shots we wanted. Highly recommend -

We spent forever looking through so many wedding photographer’s websites. We were looking for someone who wasn’t afraid of color because we knew we wanted to have photos taken in a garden at our venue. We also wanted to find someone who didn’t overly focus on staged photos, but who would capture more natural moments. We also needed someone who truly made us feel comfortable because neither of us are very comfortable in front of a camera.
Alyssa checked all the boxes for us. She has a beautiful editing style and was able to really capture our venue and our day perfectly. She also has a truly lovely and easy going personality and was a delight to work with. -

It was essential for me to find a photographer who would capture our wedding day as beautifully in photographs as it was to us that day. Of all the vendors we had to hire, I knew that our photographer would be of the most importance. If you’re considering booking Alyssa, don’t think twice.
Alyssa helped capture our day so perfectly. She was responsive with communication e-mails and really took her time with ensuring that she was going to photograph all elements that we wanted captured on our special day. She made sure to get all the shots and stick to the timeline that we had discussed. The photos she took of us and our bridal party are absolutely stunning and I will forever treasure them.
Alyssa greatly exceeded my expectations and I couldn’t recommend her more. -

Alyssa, our photographer, was so kind to work with. She is professional and will stick to the items and timeline you talk about beforehand. This is particularly helpful for me as I get distracted on days when I am not the center of attention and overstimulated. Alyssa was able to round up groups of people who were moving all over and she was flexible for our ideas. We were running behind, causing me anxiety, but she was still able to take the shots and put me at ease along the way. Her assistant Mindy was also so kind and pleasant to work with. We are very happy with the pictures as they captured the day for us. -

Alyssa is Amazing!
Alyssa was the perfect photographer for us. At our engagement photos, my fiance and I had never been in front of a camera and didn't really know what to do. She gave us pointers and poses until we felt more comfortable. In the preceding weeks of our wedding, she was easy to communicate with and always responded promptly. She helped me with our timeline, which was tricky because we didn't want to do a first look, but we also wanted both the bridesmaid and groomsman photos done separate before the ceremony, so we had less photos to take after, which she executed flawlessly. Family photos are always a big to-do the day of, and she flew through them, making sure everyone knew where to stand and when to smile, and getting every single shot I wanted (which was a lot). She also stole us from the reception to take sunset photos, which was greatly appreciated! When she was taking candid photos, her presence wasn't overpowering, but she was always in the perfect spot to get great photos. She also was super accommodating when we had a missing grandmother during family photos, and was great at getting my dog's attention for photos! Over all, Alyssa was great and has an amazing knack for natural light in her photos! -

Lindsay Sent on 08/25/2018I could not imagine sharing big love moments with my partner with any other photographer but Alyssa! In 2017, she photographed me and my partner for before we were even engaged in NYC. She loved our idea of retracing the steps of our first date. THEN about a year later - we invited her down to where we live in Atlanta, GA for our wedding! Alyssa is the perfect mix of supportive outside eye and fly on the wall that you want from a photographer. She is always there to help if you need to know if your hair is weird, but has an amazing skill for capturing the priceless moments as they happen. She is incredibly professional, everything is clear, concise and she's easy to talk to which makes all the money stuff a breeze.

Alyssa was super helpful, throughout our planning process. Just looking at her portfolio, I knew our photos would be great! On the day of the wedding, despite the pouring rain and typical wedding day mishaps, Alyssa kept me calm, and made everything go smoothly. She was awesome at keeping everyone focused, and aware of what was happening. All of our wedding guests loved her, and many reached out to say what a great job she did. We could not have made a better choice, than Alyssa, for our wedding.

Justine Sent on 07/19/2018My husband and I could not have imagined a more perfect wedding photographer for our special day!! We got married in upstate NY in April 2018. She is hands down THE BEST for the following reasons:
1. She makes you feel extremely comfortable in front of the camera.
2. Her photographs speak for themselves - I cannot tell you the amount of compliments we have gotten from the wedding (and engagement!) photos we have shared! They are timeless, beautiful, and capture the most special moments of the day.
3. She really listens to what you want, is very thorough, and works with you throughout the process to make it as seamless and stress-free as possible.
4. When we got our photos back - we were shocked at the amount of moments she captured! The day of felt like such a whirlwind - it was so nice to be able to look back and see all the little details again.
There are so many other reasons to recommend Alyssa - but the bottom line is she is amazingly talented, so easy to work with, and you will have the most beautiful photos to remember your special day with. Thank you SO much Alyssa!! -

I highly recommend couples to do this. It not only gave us the opportunity to get to know Alyssa, but it helped us feel comfortable being in front of the camera. She captured our wedding day perfectly. Our photos exceeded our expectations in the best way. If you are looking for a wedding photographer who has experience, professionalism, and attention to detail - you will not go wrong with Alyssa. She was able to work with us to come up with a package that suited our needs and continued to communicated with us to get all the necessary details for our wedding day. We aren't great with having our picture taken but she was able to work with that like a pro and our pictures turned out better than I could have imagine! I highly recommend Alyssa for all your wedding photography needs and more! -

Rachel Sent on 12/15/2017Alyssa was awesome from start to finish with our wedding day. After booking she told me to be in touch with anything that I wanted to chat about, and that she would help me work up a time-line for when she was going to be around for various photos. I didn't have an issue communicating with her at all--she was always prompt to respond.
There's always so much going on during the day of, and Alyssa and I talked through timing of when she was going to take what types of pictures (I changed the timing like 4 times and she was still talking to me by the end) and she was on time and efficient at every step during the "getting ready" phase of the day, as well as the actual ceremony and right after. After the ceremony, doing the family photos is always a big shindig because you have to gather everyone up and make sure you're getting all the shots you want--Alyssa wasn't shy about making sure people were paying attention and standing where they needed to stand and smiling when they needed to smile. It was great.
During our couple shots she was attentive in making sure we felt comfortable in whatever poses we were doing, and if we felt awkward, she gave us some ideas on how to make our stance more natural. She listened if we had ideas of photos that we wanted to take or locations that we wanted to be, and accommodated us on every one of our requests. PLUS she got us back to the party in time for the end of cocktail hour--which was the ultimate goal. haha.
She captured the most fun and loving moments of our day without making herself obtrusive or being a detracting presence in any way. I never felt like she was hovering or trying to make me look at the camera or smile when she was taking candid shots, but if I asked her to take a specific picture she jumped right in and made it happen. The photos turned out amazingly and I am so happy we chose Alyssa to be our photographer. -

Katie Sent on 12/15/2017Y'all please stop your search here...Alyssa is simply the best! We hired her for engagement and wedding photos and were absolutely blown away by her work. My (now) husband and I definitely had some pre-engagement photo jitters. Neither of us felt totally comfortable with the idea of taking loveydovey photos in a public place but the second we met Alyssa, we felt so relaxed. We had no idea what we were getting ourselves into but ended up having SUCH a fun afternoon with Alyssa. She made us feel so at ease and just let us be us. She did an incredible job capturing the love and laughter that fills our relationship. As perfect as the engagement pictures were, she absolutely knocked our wedding photos out of the park. We got married on a HOT (90 degrees and humid) September evening. Not the early Fall wedding we were envisioning and we definitely had the sweat to prove it. But Alyssa worked her magic and the photos were STUNNING. When she sent us our gallery, I think I made it about 10 photos in before the water works came. Her ability to capture the candid emotions and special moments of the day is incredible. And what she does with light is a true talent. We are so happy to have worked with Alyssa for our wedding and would recommend her in a heartbeat to anyone and everyone in need of a photographer!

Alyssa is absolutely amazing! She listens to what you want and she makes you feel so comfortable around the camera. She is very down to earth and personable so it makes the experience even better and more comfortable. Our engagement pictures came out stunning and you can tell she puts a lot of hard work into what you need and want. Give her what you want and she'll do it. She's awesome! I would recommend her to anyone! She was even cool with letting me schedule a rain date. She's very flexible! She responds back to you within minutes! She is also very well reasonably priced. I will recommend her to any of my friends that are engaged. She's truly an artist! -

She was so personable and sweet, I knew from our first e-mail interaction that she would be super nice! she was so flexible and amazingly patient, since we have never gotten our pictures taken before. We can't wait for our wedding and for her to capture all of the special moments during our big day. I give her 5 stars, 2 thumbs up, and a gold star! Definitely recommend!
