Capital Plaza was great! The planning process was a breeze with Kelsey. She made everything so easy! Also, the actual event was great. We had about 450 people at our wedding and the Sunflower ballroom was very accommodating. The service was excellent also. I would highly recommend them for any event, large or small!

Capitol Plaza is the best place in Topeka, Kansas for your reception! The event coordinator, Kelsey went above and beyond to make our wedding day the most perfect day! We were able to show up relaxed and enjoy our day. The Emerald Ballroom is absolutely elegant and the hotel suites are perfect for brides and bridesmaids to get ready in. Everything you need for your event is in one location. I would recommend this venue to any bride!

We had our Wedding Reception at the Capitol Plaza Hotel and it was absolutely perfect! The Emerald ballroom was beautiful and it was a wonderful perk for all of our guests to be able to stay at the site of the party! Working with the event coordinator, Kelsey, prior to the wedding was a wonderful experience. She was very organized and always available and she accommodated all of our requests! The event staff and hotel staff were all also extremely hospitable! I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a reception site!

This was definitely one of the pricier venues for a reception in the area, but I didn't have to worry about a thing the day of the event. If it's important to you to have everything (including set-up and clean-up) taken care of for you, that's where the cost becomes worth it. Our guests commented on the great service as well.

I have always been drawn to the hotel. Great atmosphere and a good team to work with. Sarah House will be our coordinator for the big day! Definitely recommend!

I loved our wedding reception at Capitol Plaza Hotel. The food and venue were both wonderful. My only issue was that the extremely expensive food was taken away before I could even finish my plate (and I was the first person through the line). There was so much food left over and most of my guests (including myself) were planning on going back to get more, but they insisted on taking it away. The main reason I chose to do a buffet instead of a plated dinner was so that everyone could get plenty to eat. It would have been nice to know prior to my wedding reception that there was such a short time limit on the food being available for my guests to eat. However, other than that one issue, it was beautiful and I had a wonderful time.

We booked a block of hotel rooms with Capitol Plaza for our guests to use after our wedding. The whole process was frustrating, unorganized, and completely awful! They told us to start with a small block of rooms and as those rooms became booked, they would automatically add more rooms to our hotel block. They told us they would be watching our block to make sure it didn't fill up completely. However, guests called to let us know they had tried to book a room, but the block was full. We let Kelsey, with Capitol Plaza know and she promised that this won't happen again and that she had added more rooms to our block. A few weeks later, our aunts called letting us know the block was full, AGAIN!! This was so frustrating, because we didn't know how many other guests had called, also been told the block was full, and not received our wedding discount for their room! With all of the major stressors associated with a wedding, you should not have this many headaches with a hotel block. This should be the easy part. Finally, I asked for them to send me a weekly update of who had booked rooms and how many we had left in our block. I felt since they could not manage watching our block, I would have to do it! After all of the hassle, they agreed to give us the Governor's Suite free for the night of our wedding, but it still did not make up for all of the stress associated with our block. If you do reserve a block of rooms with this hotel, make sure to check in with them often to make sure what happened to us, does not happen to you. You would think they have wedding blocks all of the time, but for some reason they do not have the process down. Very unorganized. This is a nice hotel, with a nice breakfast, but I would be wary of trusting them for your wedding.
