Best Wedding Caterer

We worked with Capers Catering for our 150+ person tented wedding in Andover, MA, and they were exceptional from start to finish. From menu development to the tasting to the wedding day itself, their team was an absolute pleasure to work with. They even incorporated bespoke, off-menu items we requested to make our celebration feel uniquely ours. During cocktail hour, the servers went above and beyond to ensure every guest had the chance to try each offering. At the reception, the service was impeccable — perfectly timed, professional, and attentive. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and served at the ideal temperature. And throughout the night, not a single glass was left empty. We couldn’t be happier with our experience and highly recommend working with Capers for your wedding!

I'm Still Dreaming Of This Food

I'm so mad I didn't eat more. My husband and I constantly wonder if Capers would just cater a dinner for us. We loved everything we ate and our guests did too! Our wedding cards that were sent after the event all mentioned how good the food was. Working with Lauren and Stuart was an absolute dream. They answered every question and worked with us to make sure our menu was JUST right. My stomach is growling just thinking about the duck tacos, gazpacho shooters, corn tortelloni, and brownie pops. I really hope we can work with Capers again soon. Or at least get their recipe for the brownies.

We loved our wedding catering

Capers did a phenomenal job catering our wedding in June 2024. Starting from the tasting, we felt like Dulce and the team were attentive to our needs and voices, and did everything to bring our vision to life. We went with an extensive menu (6 apps, 4 entree options, 5 desserts and 4 late night snacks). Everything was uniquely creative, delicious and impeccable, while accommodating all of our guests’ dietary restrictions. They did a great job prepping, batching and mixing on our specialty cocktails, which were quite involved. Chefs, servers and bartenders were highly skilled, professional, friendly and responsive. Capers are not a cheap option, but they certainly deliver top notch food and service. We highly recommend them!

Top Notch Everything

While I sometimes roll my eyes at the term “foodie,” having incredible food and cocktails was important to us at our wedding. After deciding to forgo the formal sit down dinner we hoped to bury our guests in passed apps, small plates, and grazing boards. Capers was more than up to the task. From our tasting on site to multiple iterations and edits up until the week before, they did nothing but exceed expectations. Every member of the staff we interacted with from the chef, event coordinator (special shout out to Anneliese), bar manager and bar staff to game day servers were top shelf. Our guests still talk about the tuna tartare macrons and the mini short-rib Yorkshires with horseradish cream. The passed desserts and mini espresso martinis late night were also a hit. Our event was made exceptional by their attention to detail and flawless execution. Hats off to Capers Catering.

Superb choice

Outstanding!

Capers was simply AMAZING. The food was incredible. We had so much fun at our tasting and they really cared about making our menu customized to us. I sent in some edits afterwards and they were so accommodating. The week before our wedding my MIL all of a sudden became allergic to almost everything due to some health issues and Capers didn't miss a beat. They made sure she had plenty to eat and felt comfortable. All of our guests were raving about the food and the staff was so friendly and helpful! Even little things like passing out seltzers and beers to minimize lines at the bar. They thought of everything!

The best wedding food we've ever had!

Hiring Capers for our wedding was the best decision we’ve ever made! The people were great, and the food and drinks were out of this world. Everyone we worked with was extremely helpful and professional throughout the entire process. They guided us through the daunting task of designing our menu and beverage program, as well as assisted in our furniture and linen rentals. We always felt like we were in good hands.

The food was absolutely stunning! Capers has a wide variety of interesting menu options, far beyond your typical wedding dishes. We ended up going with BBQ, Asian, and fall seasonal stations, in addition to an assortment of fun appetizers, plus gourmet donuts for dessert. The food was unique, gorgeous, and most importantly, absolutely delicious! They were also able to make special accommodations for our guests with dietary restrictions, so everybody left with a full belly. Many guests told us that this was the best wedding food they’ve ever had. We definitely agree!

For the bar, Capers was able to handle all of our special requests and provided a unique selection of craft beers, ciders, seltzers, as well as plenty of wine and liquor options. They did a great job of finding cool, local brands that gave the bar a much more upscale feel without breaking the bank. The signature cocktails that they designed for us were both beautiful and delicious. Our guests couldn’t stop raving about them!

Best Caterter

Capers did an amazing job at our backyard wedding! They set up a whole kitchen in our garage and everyone raved about food! It was so delicious. Kristin and Dulce were both so helpful and responsive and professional. Everything was wonderful from start to finish!

What A Hit!

Superb and inventive food, carefully prepared and beautifully presented. The staff members of Capers—from our event coordinator Kristen to executive chef Kevin to each one of the servers—was professional, friendly, and committed to the overall success of the wedding. Capers graciously accommodated kosher, vegan, and other special requests without hesitation, and everything was delectable.
My favorite part? Servers carried trays onto the packed dance floor to offer everyone bite-sized desserts, including homemade Hanukkah doughnuts filled with strawberry jam. What a hit!
I can't recommend Capers Catering enough. Next time I'm hosting a wedding or similar event, I'll go straight to them.

Best wedding food EVER

Our wedding was almost 2 months ago and we still have people raving about how amazing the food was! We had an excellent experience working with Capers from planning our menu to the incredible service on the wedding day. Amazing Fall Wedding in New England

Our wedding was delayed by 1 year due to COVID and Capers was never let us down. They allowed the change and then were on top of everything when October 16th, 2021 arrived. The food was amazing, we wanted a taste of New England and Autumn, especially for out of town guests. Everything was perfect: baskets of clams with bellies and fries, clam chowder, lobster rolls, squash, skewers and late night sliders. All was perfect and the staff amazing. Working with the team on preparations was easy too, so many ideas of tables, linens, serving dishes and they were perfect.

Amazing, amazing, amazing!

We can't say enough good things about Capers! We changed our minds a few times with regards to the menu and number of guests and Capers was extremely understanding and flexible!

The food was fantastic! We did a 4 course meal and every course was beautifully presented and very tasty. We had multiple guests tell us it was the best wedding food they've ever had! Our favorite part - the espresso martinis Capers served alongside the cake!

We had a backyard wedding on the Cape, which requires renting tables, chairs, plates, utensils, generators, tents, etc.. Capers handled all of this for us! Thanks to Capers, we were never stressed. Backyard weddings are a lot of work and Capers made it so easy!

Thank you Capers for helping us throw the wedding of our dreams! :)

Excellent presentation, taste and the most amazing staff !

I used Capers for my wedding in August 2021 but I was originally supposed to get married in 2020 and Capers worked with me to plan my rescheduled event. We received a lot of compliments on our food from our guests and the service was flawless! Kristin, Max, Kevin and team did an incredible job of accommodating our requests for guests that were vegan or had other allergies. Their attention to detail is impressive, I can't imagine hiring another caterer for our wedding.

Capers Catering is the best!

Capers Catering was the BEST decision we made for our wedding! First we were so impressed when we first met and talked with capers back in early 2019. ALL the food was delicious from the hor devours to entrees and dessert-- and they had wonderful ideas to highlight my husband and I's cultural differences with Filipino food and Jewish food! But i was further impressed with how well they took care of us with the postponing of our wedding due to COVID. they made the transition so smooth, easy and stress free. They frequently checked in and were just a joy to work with. Max was WONDERFUL and was so easy to communicate with not just with ourselves but our other vendors. He really had our back and we were so impressed with him! The day of our wedding, Max was always checking in on my husband and I and made sure we were happy and had a drink in hand! He's the greatest. Along with that to show how wonderful Capers is, Catherine, whom we initially met with in 2019, although she had since started a new job elsewhere, still came to our August 1 wedding and was just amazing as well! That really showed us how devoted all Capers Catering members us. Overall, food was DELICIOUS, presentation was beautiful and everyone was just so lovely to work with. They even packed up our leftovers for us! It was a wonderful experience to work with them and we couldn't recommend them more!

Capers did a fantastic job at my daughter's wedding at The Gardens at Elm Bank on 9/12/21

It was a pleasure working with Rachel and the Capers team! The creative hor's-d'oeuvres and entrees, desserts, table settings and service were all fabulous and seamlessly executed. Olive & Twist's mobile bar, Penny Lane, was a big hit at the cocktail hour! She was a fun surprise for our guests who raved about the selection of craft beer, wine and drink selections as well. We thank Capers for their patience and excellent communication and flexibility throughout the planning process, which involved rescheduling due to Covid. Their estimate of the final cost was spot on. Highly recommended!

You can't go wrong with Capers!

We really loved having Capers at our wedding. We were debating about what catering vendor to choose, but Capers blew us away with their food. It really is worth the investment to go with them. Especially because they not only make the food but also handle the bar and set and service the tables. My husband and I looked forward to having our dishes on the wedding day, and they did not disappoint. Not only was the food good, but their service was terrific as well. We had to make some layout changes on the last day because of hurricane Elsa, and the people at Capers adapted very fast and nicely. Originally we were going to use the inside and outside of the venue, but we had to move everything inside. Because of this, Capers had to move the ceremony chairs and set around eight big tables during cocktail hour. They managed the transition perfectly, and the servers were very friendly and attentive. I highly recommend them for your wedding. I know my husband, and I will go with them if we have an event in the future.

Thanks Capers!

We hired Capers to cater our wedding at the recommendation of our wedding planner and we could not have been happier with our experience with them! They have a huge menu selection and will customize/add anything you request and the food was amazing! We ended up offering 3 entrees instead of 2 because we really couldn't pick just 2 that we wanted. We got a steak dish, a lobster dish, and a vegetarian pasta dish, as well as multiple appetizers and some late-night snacks and everything was hot and fresh and the food was so good. The addition of the Olive Twist VW bar (referred to us by Capers) was so sweet and we still get compliments on it months after our wedding! We highly recommend Capers for any wedding or event. The staff was so accommodating as well, and so helpful above and beyond what is expected of the catering staff. They helped so much with set up/clean up/transitions and were super positive and fun to be around. Thanks you Catherine and Capers team!

11/9/19 Wedding

Capers knocked it out of the park - WOW! We are so so so impressed! When we began looking for a caterer, we knew it would be tricky as we wanted half of the menu to be vegan. We also knew we really wanted a french fry bar. Capers made all of this happen with ease! At our tasting, we were able to meet with the head chef who answered our questions and explained our options. He was so accommodating and the entire tasting was so personable. After hiring Capers, we worked with both Kate and Catherine who were absolutely PHENOMENAL! Catherine was so responsive to all of our questions and made sure that we were satisfied with everything. She even met us at our event rental place and helped us figure out our options for table linens, chairs, etc. The day of the wedding, Catherine was there with a huge smile on her face making sure that everything was running smoothly. Catherine truly was amazing to work with - thank you for everything!!! She made sure we were left in good hands with our event manager that night, Dana, who was so wonderful! We were completely blown away by the entire staff the night of our wedding. As soon as the ceremony was over, staff came right over with hors d'oeuvres and made sure everyone in the bridal party had a drink. All night long, Dana and her staff kept checking in with us to make sure we had everything that we needed. We also truly appreciate that they had everything clearly labeled and that all of the staff knew the vegan options and relayed them to me. We have gotten so many compliments on how AMAZING the food was - WOW! The taco bar was a huge hit and they made my french fry bar dreams come true!! We cannot say enough good things about Capers! They went above and beyond our expectations and we are SO happy that they were a part of our wedding day. Thank you to the entire staff for making our day so special!!!

Great food, wonderful experience

Capers food was the best food we have had at any weddings we attended. They were incredibly helpful from the very first day - our original meeting had great samplings for us to try out, they had very helpful tips and recommendations for what would work well with our other plans, and were able to answer every question we had. In particular, Gabrielle and Kate were very communicative and even came to our last walk through at the venue to ensure we knew their set up plans, timing, and that everything was taken care of. They were also highly sensitive to allergy concerns, dietary restrictions, and any special requests. Highly recommend!

Everything on the menu is fantastic!

Incredible!

We can't get over how incredible our experience with Capers was! After a terrible experience with the first caterer we booked for our September 2018 wedding, we found Capers and from the moment I first connected with Kate and Gabrielle - they put my worries aside as I knew I was finally in good hands. We were able to do a full tasting - which is an experience you don't get with every caterer and we really appreciated the chance to be able to taste our wedding day menu. They were so helpful along the way and always responsive and professional. Our guests are still gushing about the food a month after the wedding. Their food is creative and delicious and our hor'dorves, dinner and dessert were all PERFECT - everything was the right temperature and you could tell they put so much work into the food they prepared for us and our guests. I wish I could give Capers catering 10 stars. We hired them to cater our daughter’s wedding and our experience with them was delightful from beginning to end.
Of course, when hiring a caterer for such an important event we all shop for the most delicious food, and in this regard Capers exceeded our expectations with a truly outstanding meal. Chef Kevin met with us several times to design and implement a menu that suited our tastes, our heritage, our budget, and the mood we hoped to set for our guests. In the end, the kitchen staff outdid themselves on all counts. A month after the wedding I’m still getting calls about how wonderful the food was.
In planning this wedding I learned how very important it is to surround yourself with kind, professional, hardworking people, and in this regard, Capers hit the mark again. I worked with Kristin for a year planning the menu, renting equipment, negotiating with the venue, etc. and I can honestly say I’ve never worked with a more capable, friendly, responsive person in my life. Our event was a huge success, in large part due to Kristin. She is Super Woman.
I highly, highly recommend Capers catering – they were largely responsible for making my daughter’s wedding a beautiful and memorable event!

My husband and I highly recommend Capers. Its difficult to serve great food to 150 people but they did it flawlessly. The food is out of this world! We received so many compliments on the food. The service was fantastic, Kate makes the process so easy and goes over every decision in great detail. Capers did an incredible job catering our wedding on every level. From the tasting to our wedding day, they were responsive, accommodating, and thought of every detail we'd need to consider to make our day memorable from the food perspective (including bringing drinks and a small plate of hors d'oeuvres to us as we were having our photos taken post-ceremony). Our guests raved about the food, and we enjoyed it so much we made a point to eat full plates, which not every couple has time to do at their wedding! I used Capers for my wedding this past summer and I had an amazing experience working with Kate and everyone on the Capers staff. The food was delicious, we received tons of praise all night - even from the pickiest of eaters! The service was unbelievable, Kate and all of the waitstaff went out of their way to make sure my husband and I, and every one of the guests were constantly happy and well-fed. We had to quickly move the cocktail hour and toasts inside when it started to rain, but no one even noticed because the Capers team was able to transition everything so seamlessly! I would highly recommend Capers for your wedding, or any event you could think to hire them for, they are worth every penny!

Capers is fantastic all around; my wife and I were absolutely thrilled with our experience start to finish. We had a cocktail party reception with heavy passed appetizers and Capers picked up on the vibe and type of food we wanted right away. Kate and Leslie were incredibly responsive and attentive via email, and hosted a tasting for us at Capers to finalize our menu (which was definitely worth the time, as we did change several menu items after the tasting). The food was excellent (favorites: mac & cheese cups, truffle tots, tuna tartar wontons, brownie pops), the staff very professional and timely, and the coordination with our wine/beverage provider flawless. We recommend without hesitation. So much so that at a recent family event, we had Capers cater dinner!

I am a food blogger and my husband and I love cooking together and trying new restaurants, so when it came time to select our wedding caterer we had high standards. I was immediately drawn to Capers Catering because of their healthy, fresh ingredients and amazing menu selections. Kristin from Capers was our initial contact and she was incredibly responsive and helpful from day one. About 14 months before our wedding, we set up a tasting with Kristin and LOVED the food we tried. Every bite Chef Kevin served us was more delicious than the last. We knew we'd found our caterer. Throughout the wedding planning process I worked with Kristin and Leslie on every aspect of the day from snacks for the bridal party, cocktail hour food, reception food, timing of events, and so much more. They also helped secure all of the rentals for our venue, including linens, glasses, tables, flatware, and a dance floor. I made so many changes to my design plan along the way and was constantly emailing Kristin and Leslie, yet they never seemed bothered at all. They were always quick to respond and take care of any request I had. They were very considerate of our budget and never tried to upsell us on things we didn't need. Just as we had hoped, all of our wedding guests RAVED about the food. We had food stations and everyone kept going back up for more. So many people told us it was the best food they'd ever had at a wedding (and I agree!). Aside from having an incredible menu, Capers just made the whole wedding planning process so much easier. If I lived in Boston I would use them for every event I had. Book Capers today! You'll be glad you did.

I could not be happier that we chose Capers to cater our wedding at the Connors Center in Dover 2 weeks ago!! We had tastings with four different caterers and after our tasting at Capers, we knew they were our best bet! We felt Kristin totally got our vision, she gave us great ideas, and was absolutely fantastic to work with! We also got to meet the chef, who was awesome and so knowledgable! Kristin and Leslie met with us again before the wedding to go over all the details. They did not miss a beat and delivered us a gorgeous wedding with tons of custom details and decor. We are so happy that we chose Capers to cater our daughter's wedding at The Connors Center in Dover, MA. The team of Kristin and Leslie were fantastic to work with and the food was delicious. At our tasting, we met the chef who prepared and talked through all the various options so that the menu was perfect for our guests and evening and in line with our vision. Everyone has continued to rave about the food, from the passed hors d'oeuvres to the main courses to the miniature cupcakes and other sweets that we did in lieu of a cake. There were also many decorative touches that Capers added to give the event a special look and they executed everything to perfection! I cannot say enough great things about Capers- they are truly wonderful!

I highly recommend Capers Catering. If you are looking for exceptional service and most importantly delicious and quality food, Capers is the place to go! Kate and her team helped to cater my August wedding at Tower Hill Botanical Gardens. Capers Catering could not have been a more perfect choice for our wedding food and catering services. They worked tirelessly to provide us with top-quality food that matched our vision for the wedding; they went above and beyond to make sure that the entrees were exactly what we were looking for. They were flexible and responsive every step of the way. The day of the wedding, their service was impeccable. Everyone raved about our wedding food afterward, from the Colombian-themed appetizers during cocktail hour to the delicious entrees during dinner. During cocktail hour, some of the servers made it a point to go to where we were taking photos and make sure we had a plate of appetizers set aside. Everything about Capers was wonderful, and we would highly recommend them as a wedding caterer.

Capers did a wonderful job catering our reception at the Codman Estate. We worked with Kristen throughout the process. Her responsiveness was a key factor in us choosing Capers over other catering services. Kristen also referred us to many great vendors. Everyone we ended up using for our reception was at her recommendation (and they were all amazing). On the wedding day she did a great job coordinating with our DJ to keep things running smoothly and shifting around the schedule when we ran a bit late for cocktail hour. The food was of course delicious! We got many compliments on the passed apps for cocktail hour. We highly recommend the mini lobster rolls. Capers also covered our bar service for the night and helped us pick our signature cocktail, the "cucumber cooler." Overall food was super important to us for our wedding day, and we were so glad we used Capers for their excellent service and great food!

Capers did an amazing job providing the catering + bar services for our wedding this past spring! We were incredibly pleased not only with the quality of the food (everyone agreed it was delicious!) but also with the helpfulness of our coordinator, Kate Monteiro.

From the beginning Kate worked with us to develop a personalized menu that fit our tastes and our budget - she even helped us work in some specific recipes of our own that had special meaning to us. She was always professional and very responsive - from menu edits to table/linens/china rentals, to day-of planning, Kate was always very on top of things.

We knew from the tasting that the food would be delicious, but we were even more impressed come the big day! All of the guests agreed that the food was amazing. And not only that, but Kate was there every step of the way to make sure that my husband and I actually got to eat the food on the big day! She brought us of own trays of hors d'oeuvres as we arrived, and made sure to serve our entrees first so that we could sneak in a few bites before we continued greeting all of our tables of guests. I was a bit worried that we didn't hire a day-of coordinator, but thankfully Kate was amazing and worked with all of our vendors to ensure that the reception went smoothly.

My husband and I couldn't have been more pleased with Kate and the rest of the Capers team and would highly recommend them to any couple in the Boston area!

We used Capers Catering for our wedding of 150 guests at Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center and they truly made the event a complete success. Choosing a caterer was probably one of the harder decisions throughout the wedding planning process for us, but Capers' professionalism, experience, and excellent food made the choice a no-brainer. Kate worked with us throughout the entire planning process and was incredibly responsive and knowledgeable. She had excellent suggestions, accommodated all of our requests, and brought our vision of our perfect wedding to life. Teresa was the event coordinator on the day of our event and she was amazing as well. Everything was executed perfectly, the space looked incredibly beautiful all set up, the service was spot-on, and the food was phenomenal. My family won't stop talking about how perfectly cooked their salmon was. During what is inevitably a very stressful planning process, working with Capers was a breeze and thanks to them our wedding day was pretty perfect. I would highly recommend them.

If I could give Capers Catering a 10 out of 5 I would. I am truly at a loss to describe how incredible they were from start to finish. As a foodie, one of the most important things to me was my guests to remember the meal. The dress and the photos, those are for me. The food is where I wanted to impress my guests; and that was going to be difficult being one of ten weddings in 2015. From the beginning, Kristin helped us to craft the perfect menu of elegant and different passed apps, a gorgeous cheese display and an unforgettable main dish. They were able to take crowd pleasing dishes to the next level of elegance with presentation and flavor. Additionally, we had many gluten free family members and that was not a problem. Many of them went out of there way after the wedding to thank me and say that it was the best wedding meal they've ever had. Same for the vegetarians. One of my favorite things about Capers was that they never made our guests with dietary restrictions feel like they needed to pack snacks or knew there would be limited things for them to eat. Our wedding was in August so for the main course we did a surf and turf with filet and shrimp as well as a chicken with a warm peach salsa. When we had our tasting both were so good that I asked if we could have both meals at our wedding. Again, I had so many guests come up to me on the dance floor and tell me that it was the best filet they've ever had. The meat was perfectly cooked and we had a wedding of about 140.Dessert was fantastic. My husband and I are not big cake people so we got a small cake to cut and then wanted an impressive looking dessert bar which turned into mostly a cookie bar. Capers made such a beautiful display and worked with us to make a twist on my favorite cookies. The servers made sure that all our guests had passed hors d'oeuvres and they made sure we had all of our favorite apps waiting for us the minute we arrived. I can’t say enough about Capers service you won’t be disappointed

I need to start this review by putting it in context-I had NO idea what I was doing when it came to wedding planning. None. Completely lost. Kristin from Capers COMPLETELY made everything so easy. She was so responsive and answered any and all random questions. She helped us with a timeline and diagrammed how the room would be set up and she was on top of EVERYTHING.

On the day of, Kristin started the set up and, even though I kept asking if I could help, she was completely on top of everything. It was great to have someone I could completely trust so I could worry about other things. Then, Catherine took over for the dinner itself and she was amazing too! They remembered that my husband and I don’t really drink, so we got sparkling grape juice for the toast without even asking! At the end of the night, Catherine even gave up a bag of leftovers, which was amazingly sweet. The day could not have gone better and it was really thanks to Capers that everything went so well. They aren’t just caterers; they seriously are magic-makers.

And the food. The food was AMAZING! My husband loved the steak and I had the fish and it was amazing. My absolute favorite was the lobster roll appetizer (I may have eaten 15 of them while hungover the day after in the hotel lobby….oops!). Everything was just perfect. THANK YOU!!!

Capers was superb when they catered my wedding at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center. They worked seamlessly with the staff at the venue. Kate was our coordinator and was responsive, helpful and friendly. She guided us through the entire process and provided helpful advice when needed, but let us make our own decisions as well. The entire staff was truly great. Our DJ had the dance floor going crazy the entire night and the staff were dancing on the side as they waited to clear tables and serve the late night snack we had planned. It just made for a really fun, but professional environment that we loved. And then there was the amazing food! All around delicious! From the appetizers, through salad, dinner and the dessert buffet, all the way to the late night coffee milkshakes, sliders and fries, the food was delicious, filling and beautifully presented. I highly recommend Capers!

Capers Catering was one of the vendors on the Codman Estate list and good food was, along with venue, the number one priority for my daughter and her fiance. Kate Monteiro was impeccably prompt with answering our many emails, listened well and gave us excellent options for our tasting, and planned everything with us beautifully. With a June afternoon wedding we planned berry lemonade and iced tea after the ceremony, an excellent combination of passed hors d'oeuvres, tasty small sliders to accompany the lawn games, then a wonderfully varied buffet for dinner. With vegans, vegetarians, and non-V eaters as guests at the wedding, Kate and the Chef helped us plan menu items which were delicious for all palates. The miso glazed salmon and garlic chicken were our main dishes as well as multiple hearty salads, breads and gluten free breads and crackers. We had a smaller selection of mini-cookies to accompany dancing after dessert (provided by another vendor). The service was excellent, the bartender kept things moving at a good clip (four hour alcohol limit set by the town so we started beer and wine later to be able to serve until an hour before the end), and we felt everything worked out really well and extremely smoothly.

I am forever grateful for the opportunity to work with Kate and Capers and cannot imagine our wedding without them!

My husband and I were unable to conduct a tasting before committing to a caterer, which put a lot more pressure on our first point of contact and initial proposal. Kate immediately impressed us with her responsiveness, attention to detail and creativity – our very first proposal from Kate was exactly what we were looking for!

Throughout the planning process, Kate was professional, knowledgeable, organized, hard working, enthusiastic and supportive. She helped up decide on and secure our rentals, led us through a wonderful tasting experience, put together an optimal floor plan for our 3-floor venue, create a wedding timeline and much more! Kate fully immersed herself in understanding our vision and I valued her every recommendation.

At our tasting, we had the most positive experience with Kate and chef John. We were blown away by the quality of food from the appetizers to entrees to late night snacks and appreciated their efforts to make the tasting special and enjoyable. Kate always strikes the perfect balance between professionalism and making the process personal!

Kate played a most integral role in the planning, execution and overall success of our wedding. On our wedding day, Capers above and beyond delivered what we had imagined and so much more! Kate, Diane and the entire Capers team were attentive, gracious and hard working. They made our wedding flow perfectly and pulled everything together from decorations to keeping us on schedule. During cocktails, servers delivered beverages and appetizers to our wedding party as we took some final pictures together. Caper’s was AMAZING! I contacted a few caterers and Caper’s was the first to respond and also provided the best price and menu. Our contact at Caper’s was Kristin and she was so wonderful about getting back to my emails quickly and helping me with anything extra for the wedding (for example, they took care of making “reserved” signs for the ceremony). The food was phenomenal and beautifully presented! Caper’s not only provided the food, they really made the event happen. Diane was our coordinator for the day and she was perfect! She made sure everything was set-up (including all of my DIY projects) and checked in regularly to see if there was anything my husband or I needed. In fact, one of the staff members tracked my husband and I down with a plate of appetizers during the cocktail hour (we were having some trouble bustling my dress and it was taking a lot longer than we expected), which we really appreciated because otherwise we would have missed them completely! All of the staff was very professional, friendly, and just wonderful! We can’t say enough good things about Caper’s and if we ever need a caterer again, we will be calling them!

Capers was wonderful to work with and the food was delicious! Kate was our contact person, and she was super responsive, accommodating, and helpful. She was the closest person we had to a wedding planner. She helped us choose the food and table settings, work through the timeline and details of the day, and coordinate with our other vendors. She met with my parents and I at the rental store to choose tablecloths and settings, and then took a photo and emailed it to my florist on the spot. She talked through the timeline hour-by-hour so my fiancee and I could understand the flow of the day and make decisions about how we wanted everything to go. After doing the final site visit, she created and emailed us maps of the facility and the reception with all the details we discussed (dinner tables, cocktail tables, cake table, DJ table, bars, etc.). My mother-in-law wanted to do something special with the desserts in addition to the cake, and Capers helped us achieve her vision. Kate always responded to emails quickly and professionally. She also dealt with last minute changes with ease and flexibility. Guests emailed us the week of the wedding with food requests ranging from gluten free, to no nuts/seeds, to vegan. We also had a few guests drop/add at the last minute, including a couple who decided to bring their 6-year-old and not tell us until we met him at the wedding. Throughout all of this, Capers was pleasant and adjusted easily to the changes. My one moment of disappointment was when I realized (late in the process) that I had misunderstood and thought that Kate would be there to coordinate everything on the actual day; she actually coordinates everything with an Event Manager who is the person there on the actual day. I was nervous to hear that, but Kate had been so wonderful and organized throughout the process that I trusted everything would be fine, and it was. She still made time to stop by to say hello at the wedding, and the Event Manager was terrific.

Food is one of the things my husband and I love most, and it was one of the highest priorities for us in planning our wedding – we wanted to have a great meal that reflected our love of cooking and eating. I just can’t say enough amazing things about our experience with Capers – both during the planning process (which was almost two years in our case), and on our wedding day. During the planning process, we worked with Kristin – she was so incredibly helpful as we played around with different meal ideas, very responsive to our concerns about budget, and put us completely at ease that Capers would have everything well in hand on the day-of. When we went in for our tasting, we thought “if the food is even half as good on the day of the wedding, we’re golden.”

In fact, even cooking for 100 people in an outdoor oven in the parking lot, Capers managed to make incredible food on our wedding day that exceeded our memories of the tasting. We got so many compliments on the food from our guests -- we were walking around to greet people at their tables, and most plates appeared to be licked clean. Our meals were incredible, and I only wish we'd gotten to eat more :) Capers also coordinated the alcohol delivery and pickup on our behalf with a local vendor, and provided bartending that was superb.

We also felt so relaxed and taken care of, we were able to just enjoy the whole event knowing that the team had everything well in hand. Capers did a wonderful job with setting up both the ceremony and reception, including helping set up a lot of the DIY decorations that I’d put together. I have a background in event planning and am a bit of a control freak, and I worried that I wouldn’t be able to stand back and relax – but there just wasn’t anything I would have been able to meddle with because Capers was so on top of everything.

Picking Capers as our wedding caterer was one of the best decisions we made while planning our wedding and I’m going to miss working with them!

We used Capers for our recent wedding on 5/17/14 and they were absolutely wonderful to work with. We planned our wedding at a venue that did not have a wedding coordinator, and we didn’t hire a wedding coordinator until the very end (Day of Coordinator). When I first started researching caterers for our wedding I was a bit overwhelmed. So many to caterers to choose from, and so many that seemed way above our budget. In addition, many that took days and days to respond to my inquiry and other emails. But when I heard from Kristin very quickly after contacting Capers, I immediately knew I wanted to work with them. First, she was so prompt with replies to my questions and she was always so detailed and accurate with her answers. She was pleasant and enthusiastic and very willing to work within our budget. I soon realized that the catering coordinator is such a huge part of the wedding planning process, which can be very stressful, and I don’t know what I would have done without Kristin! She was always such a calming presence, with such good advice on everything from food choices, to glassware choices, to set-up decisions. It was SOOO helpful that she had done many events at my venue in the past and knew all the insides and outs of how things worked there.
And on the day of the wedding, Capers was unbelievable. The venue looked beautiful – everything was set up perfectly. The food was delicious – my guests raved about the mini lobster rolls at cocktail hour and the entrees were served nice and hot! People especially loved the halibut. The service was stellar – we couldn’t believe how many staff were there – they had an army! And they treated the groom and I like we were the king and queen.
I can’t say enough how highly I would recommend Capers Catering, from pre-wedding contracting with Kristin to the delicious food and impeccable service the day of, they were fantastic. One of the best decisions we made throughout the whole planning process!

Capers won us over during the initial tasting. Before we had even signed a contract, Kate worked with us to design our menu based on a wide selection of offerings (and our budget), and this was what we ate for our tasting. The food was delicious and Kate won us over with her attention to detail, great suggestions, and her clear confidence in event planning. As the year went on, Kate was available to answer our questions, no matter how small. In the weeks leading up to the wedding, she made sure that everything was set and asked our opinion on all the important details. All this made us very confident that the wedding day would go smoothly.
And it went more smoothly than I could have imagined. Capers set up for our wedding in less than two hours and Kate remembered everything we asked of her team. The food was excellent, the servers were on point, and the decorations were perfect. Our guests raved about every course. The only input needed from me was whether to delay the start of dinner due to our formals running late. It was great because I was just able to relax and enjoy the day. Kate even tracked me and my bridesmaids down as we tried to discretely bustle my dress to make sure we got to try the hors d'oeuvres! And the kitchen staff sent us home with some bonus mini-lobster rolls we scarfed down during the afterparty. I recommend Capers if you are looking for an experienced catering company with a personal touch and a desire to make your wedding one of a kind.

We used Capers last August for our wedding at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center, and they were a pleasure to work with! The wedding went off without a hitch - as least as far as I knew, and that's what matters, right?!

Here are a bunch of details you may or may not want!

I must give them special props for the fact that the wedding was the weekend of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Irene... we had some last-minute changes, of course, since the original plan was to have the ceremony outside. On the Thursday before, we made the decision to switch chairs (no longer getting the ones that were to be used for the outside ceremony, and instead ordering more of the black dinner chairs to use for the inside ceremony). They quickly took care of the details and revised our invoice with no problem.

Though from other reviews and photos I can see that they are great at traditional style seating and dinners, in case you are thinking of doing something slightly non-traditional, Capers can help with that too! To make sure there was plenty of room for dancing, we decided to go with a cocktail reception, with food stations and 75% seating rather than a formal dinner with seating chart. This could have easily gotten very confusing for guests, and with the exception of a few people who discovered this plan early and were eagerly waiting by the doors to rush in and grab a seat, it went very smoothly. There were some round hi-top tables and some standard dinner-sized round tables, and for the most part groups of people stuck together and used the tables as a "home base" rather than as a place to sit as wallflowers for the night. We were very happy overall with how the seating (and lack of seating) worked out for us.

(for logistics: we had the ceremony in the Theater of CMAC, and then everyone moved out into the Gallery and Hallway for cocktail hour while Capers set up the room and we took some photos downstairs - since we couldn't do them outside as planned. Then after 45-60 minutes, everyone moved back into the Theater for dinner/dancing/etc, but the bar remained in the Gallery and so people could go back and forth between the two spaces.)

We worked first with Kristin and then mainly with Kate. They were both awesome. I of course was a nervous bride and would email them quite frequently with little detail questions and they never seemed frustrated or annoyed, just happy to help.

I also made lots of the decorations myself, from the big paper flower centerpieces to the pennant flags hanging on the buffet table, DJ table, bar, guest book table, etc, and made some little signs for the buffet, and things like that, in some cases asking Capers not to do their usual thing but to use my stuff to add to the "look" of the wedding (such as using my paper flowers for their passed hors d'oeuvres trays). Capers followed all of my overly-detailed instructions about where everything had to go, and during the reception many of the servers even took the time to tell me how much they loved the decorations and were happy to have had such detailed directions to work with - I really appreciated those kind words coming from people who work weddings all the time!

I'm sure I'm missing some key details about the night and all the great things about Capers...

OH! The FOOD WAS DELICIOUS and presented in a really fun and modern way. Many people commented on how "cute" everything looked and how yummy everything was. We had seven different passed hors d'oeuvres and two different food stations and everyone was satisfied. One of my absolute favorite things about my wedding was the MINI MILKSHAKES that were passed during dessert! They were adorable and so so yummy! Such a great touch!

I think I will stop my gushing here, and let you decide for yourself... but hopefully I helped nudge you a little!

Capers worked with my budget, were exceptionally friendly, helpful, and wonderfully professional. From the first call to the last dance, I couldn't have been more pleased. They accommodated every request, managed to please clients with varied tastes, and made it all look easy. The entire time, I felt like I was in expert hands. Cannot recommend them highly enough!

Capers was impressive & treated us like gold from the first tasting to the well wishes after the wedding. Our guests RAVED about the food and continue to comment on how fabulous it was. The service that we received from Capers was fantastic. Kristin was very responsive and helpful with food choices, decorations, service, etc. The day of the staff was extremely professional and we couldn't have been more pleased with the food and entire set up of the venue. Would definitely recommend!

Capers Catering provided amazing food and service for our wedding reception. They were professional and great to work with from the first email exchange through the tasting and lead-up to our wedding, and throughout the cocktail hour and dinner. We might not have found them if they hadn’t been on the allowed caterers list for the Peabody Essex Museum, but we’re so glad we did find them! Kristin (our coordinator there) was great to work with and was always very helpful. We were blown away by the quality of the food at the private tasting --- it was all fresh with interesting flavors. We got to speak with the chef and explored the food options, and they made small tweaks at our request. They even found some ways to fit in foods that were appropriate to each of our ethnic heritages (including finding some obscure cheeses to include in the cheese display which were a great hit with our guests, even if they did vanish quickly). All of the food, including the hors d’oerves and the main course were wonderful. Unlike some of the other caterers we tried (which tasted like “standard hotel wedding food”), the food from Capers tasted like food at a good restaurant. We were also very pleased that the food at the reception was just as good as it was during the tasting. Capers even provided a tasty vegan option for our vegetarian guests, and they were also able to accommodate the food restrictions that a few guests had. They also showed a great attention to service detail, setting aside a plate of hors d’oerves for us to make sure we got a chance to eat some, and even bringing out a new hot meal for our table when they noticed that we’d been away from our table speaking to guests when it was served --- we didn’t even notice this, but a guest was impressed enough to mention it to us. Kristin was at the wedding for most of the night making sure everything ran perfectly. Our only regret is that we may not have an opportunity to have their food again anytime in the near future.

I had an outdoor wedding buffet that was catered by Capers. They did an amazing job from start to finish. Very detailed and organized with the proposal, and very responsive and attentive during the entire planning process. The food was delicous and presented beautifully. The service during the wedding was great and very professional. I would highly recommend Capers to anyone planning an event!

Capers Catering was absolutely fantastic for our wedding! The food was delicious, and their service outside of food was very professional. Every time I talked with Kristen she was very accommodating and had great suggestions. Since I knew they were such a high quality caterer, I felt no hesitation in contacting other vendors they suggested. I found our baker and florist for the wedding through Capers, who were also fantastic! Kristen was even able to make those last minute changes I was stressing over and made me feel at ease. But don't forget the food! I could eat their mini lobster rolls every day and never tired of them. Everyone at the wedding complimented us on the food, and it really was delicious! I would highly recommend Capers in a heartbeat to anyone who asked!

We had the pleasure of working with Kristin at Capers Catering, she was fantastic and so was our wedding! As soon as my fiance and I met with Emma and Kristin, we knew that we wanted to have Capers cater our wedding. Kristin was very helpful with every aspect of the wedding; deciding on the menu, the decor, the flow of the event, and everything was executed beautifully on the day of the wedding. The staff was very attentive to us and our guests, and everyone raved about the quality of the food, it was delicious!

The Capers team was over-the-top, ridiculously wonderful. From start to finish, they were the MVPs of our wedding planning process. We got married at a beautiful venue that required us to rent everything. I explained what I was looking for to Kristin and she walked me through the entire process -- she coordinated rentals; helped us plan, taste and revise our perfect menu; advised on logistics; and generally served as my wedding planning tutor. She thought of every detail throughout the planning process -- she asked questions I didn't even know needed answers. She recognized that weddings are expensive and helped us put our money to work on things guests would remember and appreciate (and not where nobody would notice it).

When the day of the wedding came, I was 100% confident in the Capers team. And they blew us away. The food was outstanding. My guests are still talking about the pre-ceremony lemonade and flavored water, the mini lobster rolls, the raw bar, the baby grilled cheese sandwiches with goat cheese and strawberries, the steak -- the list goes on! Kerri was coordinating on site, and it was all set up perfectly (including the 400 votive candles we left her and her team to light!). The bartenders were incredible and kind. The service was great -- from dinner to the JP Licks ice cream bar. If there were any problems at all, Capers managed them beautifully and they were kept off of our plates.

I can't recommend them enough. Catering + rentals were far and away the biggest line item of our budget, and I'm so glad we spent the money with Capers.

Amazing service, friendly staff, delicious food, we were so happy w the experience we had with Capers. I do think the overall price was high, but relative to the price of other caterers in the area at least your get a great value from it! Kate and her team we're so friendly and helpful. Lastly, our guest still tell us how much they enjoyed the meal at our wedding! They were amazing. Thank you again!

My wife and I thought we were going to end up working with a different local caterer but we started having second thoughts after some red flags, so we called up Capers and were invited up for a tasting.

While we were sampling a plate of hors d'oeuvres, chef Jon came out and we talked about which apps we really loved (the mini lobster rolls are a MUST and the mini grilled cheese rectangles with creamy tomato soup shooters!), and we talked about a couple options that we didn't think fit in quite as well with what we had in mind so he asked us a few questions to determine what we really liked and what the feel of our wedding would be and then he ran back into the kitchen and excitedly and immediately showed us some potential other options. It was awesome that he was so open and receptive to changing things up and really took the time to talk to us and hear about our favorite restaurant experiences and that kind of thing to gauge what we were looking for. The entire tasting was fantastic and between chef Jon and Kate, we were really happy that we ended up calling them and we knew without a doubt that we wanted to hire Capers.

Kate was truly fantastic to work with. She is so organized and responsive and knowledgable and she made everything super easy for us. She helped point out things we could do to make our service run as smoothly as possible and we were so appreciative. She is invaluable and a total rock star! And she was responsible for so much more than just the catering since we had both our ceremony and reception on site at the Lyman Estate. Everything was literally perfect!

In addition to the excellent service, the food was incredible. Capers not only met our expectations but exceeded them. The food on our wedding day was even better than it was at the tasting and we thought it was amazing then! The flavors were bright and crisp and balanced and the plating and service were impeccable. Our guests are still raving about everything, over two weeks later!

In all of our dealings with Kate and Capers, they were extremely flexible. We were pretty picky about what we wanted for our food and how we wanted to receptions set up. Each and every time we made a change, they were able to accommodate and often went above and beyond. All of our guests loved the food and they're only complaint was that they couldn't get even more of it. Capers was on top of it during the event and kept everything running on time. It was nice to be able to sit back and know they had everything in hand. It was fantastic working with such a wonderful group of people.

Capers was just incredible! Not only was the food amazing (a lot of guests told us it was the best wedding food they had ever had) but they were also super flexible in allowing us to provide our own drinks and cheese table. We were impressed with Capers Catering from the beginning, especially Kristin O'Connor, our event manager. Capers allowed us to have a menu tasting before we signed our contract with them, so we knew exactly what we would be getting. Suprisingly, many high-end catering companies do NOT let you do a tasting until you've signed a contract and forked over a deposit. Kristin was professional, responsive and a pleasure to work with from the beginning. She responded to emails quickly and put any concerns we had at ease. We knew we were in great hands with Kristin and Capers. The food was simply delicious! Our guests remarked that the food (from the appetizers to the main course) was phenomenal. We loved the range of options we were able to choose from for our menu and that we were able to sample every dish from appetizer, first course and entree, prior to signing our contract. At our wedding, the Capers staff was attentive and professional. They served the food quickly and without disruption and checked in with us (and our guests) to make sure things were to our liking. It is pricey, but you absolutely get what you pay for- and that's amazing food and service! We would definitely recommend Capers Catering for high-quality food and service. We were so happy with our decision!

Capers is a great boutique cater. We worked with Kristin from the beginning, and it was a great experience. I was definitely on the know-very-little-about-planning-weddings side of things, and Kristin helped me out without making me feel silly. When we went for our tasting, the food was delicious and the chef talked with us to explain various options. We had a couple of tastings to pick the main courses and the hors d'oeuvres and both times were great. My fiance, mom and I enjoyed the food and the presentation. And, the day of the wedding, the food did not disappoint! Everything was fresh and delicious.

I really can't say enough about Kristin. She was so great to work with. She's knowledgeable, helpful, responsive (always answered all my emails and questions promptly), and fun. Because we were planning our wedding from out of town, we had to schedule tastings and meetings on our trips to Boston and she always made it work. She was great the day of the wedding too as was the entire Capers staff. They did an amazing job setting up the space for the ceremony and turning it for the reception; service was amazing; and the attention to detail impeccable.

Delicious food and service

We enjoyed the catering services of Capers for our wedding in May 2022 at the Connors Center in Dover, MA. We were attracted to the varied menu they offered, the responsive and organized communication and their proposal pricing was in line with two other caterers we looked at. We were excited to work with them for one of the most important parts of our wedding – the food!
The good news about Capers is that everything is à la carte….incredible choice in everything from food to linens to glassware to the equipment they need to create your wedding meal. This can also be a downside. Unfortunately, we were underquoted in our early proposals (due to missing a la carte equipment charges) and then we were subject to a price increase by the vendor they use for every rental item (Peak Event Services). When the missing equipment and rental price increases were added in, our estimated total had increased by over $2,000 for equipment alone on the same menu and same guest count as we had started with.
Rachel was our sales manager and handled this situation exceptionally well. She worked with Emma to understand what had happened and we all came to an agreeable solution. Throughout the process, Rachel was very helpful, responsive, flexible and diligent in working through all of the details with us leading up to our wedding day.
On the wedding day, the food was all lovely and delicious. The Capers event staff were professional and courteous. While they packed us some leftover hors d’ouevres, we never got any of the leftover cheese station or dinner meals.
All in all, we were pleased with Capers and they played a big role in our wedding day. Prospective clients should be aware that the “everything à la carte” approach is both very flexible but also more expensive than other vendors who have their own equipment and more of a package offering.

Capers Catering catered our entirely vegan wedding this June at the Mass Audubon Habitat Education Center & Wildlife Sanctuary in Belmont, and they did an amazing job with everything!

We loved that they were excited about a vegan menu, and that they were honest if they couldn’t make something vegan and would source it elsewhere. We chose eclectic vegan apps (mini black bean tacos, samosas, summer rolls, bruschetta w/ tapenade, mushroom/veg rice bites) and a vegan buffet (roasted veggie ravioli, roasted potatoes, roasted carrots, mushrooms/green beans, summer salad, and bread). Almost all our guests eat a regular diet (only a few vegetarians/vegans), and everyone RAVED about the food – especially the mini tacos and ravioli! Also, the buffet food was presented beautifully.

We worked closely with Kate up until the wedding – she was amazing, always responsive to all my emails and my detailed questions or requests. Dana was our day-of-coordinator, and everything I had talked to Kate about was seamlessly translated to her. The day of the wedding, her and her team made my husband and I feel like a king and a queen (ex. brought us a drink and apps during photos after the ceremony). I had asked about taking home a box of leftovers, and she boxed up ALL the leftover apps and buffet food – enough for multiple meals!

I was very pleased with my experience using Capers. I had received a half dozen other quotes, and went to as many tastings before selecting them as my caterer. We were very impressed at our tasting with the food, and with Kate, who was our event coordinator. She was always very responsive and helpful throughout the planning process, and Capers helps coordinate rentals and liquor. At a venue where you have to bring everything in yourself, it was really great to be able to trust Kate to take care of all the little details. I ran into a few stressful situations with my venue, but Kate was always quick to help find a solution and calm me down. The one thing that stands out the most about my experience with them was that Kate was always so flexible – any time I asked if we could do something or to change something her answer was always “yes.” The day of our wedding, the space looked incredible. I had brought in quite a few décor items of my own with directions for set up and Capers did a wonderful job. I was surprised that the food at the wedding was actually even better than the tasting! We had a stationary cheese table (which I heard was good), lobster rolls, mini chicken pot pies (INCREDIBLE), scallops in bacon, grilled cheese and tomato soup shooters, and lamb on pita chips with tzatziki. We had tasted the lobster Rangoon and vegetarian spring rolls at our tasting, and I would recommend those as well. Our entrees were beef tenderloin and salmon with a Mediterranean relish, both served with a vegetable bundle and potato pave. They were phenomenal, and so many people told us it was the best meal they had ever had at a wedding. The staff were all very professional and did a great job. Things went so well we even extended the reception an hour, and they were happy to do so. I would definitely recommend Capers and am so grateful to Kate for her hard work and going above and beyond to make my wedding perfect.

Capers did a wonderful job catering our wedding in June. They were extremely responsive when it came to questions I had and very flexible in scheduling follow up meetings. The most valuable thing to me about using them was that it was like having my own wedding planner in aspects outside of just the food.

Guests continue to make comments about how good the food was at our wedding. We were not able to eat half of it due to being the bride and groom but what we did have was wonderful. Chef Justin and Katheryne were very friendly and prompt in replying to any questions. I WILL be using this company again for any events that require a caterer.

We chose to work with Caper's based on our initial interactions with Kristin and tasting of the food. We liked the idea that the person we worked with throughout the process would be the person on the day of the wedding to make sure that everything went smoothly. We were disappointed to find out very near to our wedding that somebody else would be on site to coordinate day of. The onsite coordinator was great but this was nevertheless an unexpected development. I was a little bit concerned during the cocktail hour that there weren't enough appetizers to keep our guests satisfied, but the meal itself was beyond delicious.
