The best venue

Wow. We loved Cannon Robert Winery for our wedding. It was the most beautiful venue. I LOVED having the ceremony in the vineyard outside and then being able to do the reception at the winery with climate control. We received and continue to receive compliments about our amazing venue. Super affordable for everything they offer, a fraction of the cost of venues in the twin cities yet only minutes from the cities. We chose the reserve package, best decision we could have made. They included shuttles, putting up the decorations, tearing down, and overall coordination of vendors. They were so responsive and flexible in making last minute changes. The day truly went off without a hitch, thanks to the amazing event manager. If we had to do it all over again, we’d choose CRW again.

Amazing Venue

Kat, Abby, and the entire crew at Cannon River Winery were absolutely amazing. From the first initial tour, through the planning process, and especially the day of, everything was flawless. We can’t say enough wonderful things about these people and this space. It was worth every penny. We wish we could do it again!

Easy to work with, beautiful venue

The team at Cannon River Winery was easy to work with and made planning an event simple and stress-free. It is such a beautiful venue that there is little need for the additional expenses of a lot of decoration. They are flexible and work hard to ensure your day is exactly how you want it to be. Definitely recommend for a 'destination' wedding close to home!

This is an incredibly beautiful venue and the staff couldn't be nicer or more helpful. We loved our experience with Cannon River and the coordinator, Anne.

Cannot say enough good things about this wedding venue. The space was beautiful! The antique pieces for displaying photos and desserts, beautiful bar set up, and simple yet elegant tables/chairs spoke for themselves and made the need for extra decor minimal.
The staff was SO accommodating. Anne/Marcie answered my emails same day, and offered meetings to make us feel comfortable and prepared for the wedding. HIGHLY recommend day of coordinating, set up and take down. Worth the extra!
While most brides utilize the outdoor vineyard space for their wedding ceremony, we opted for a church wedding, but the staff was ready and excited to let us still use the vineyard space for photos.
We had a blast and our guests had a blast! I would easily choose Cannon River Winery again!

My daughter was married at the winery in October. We rented the vineyard and event center for the ceremony and reception and it was worth every penny. The communication throughout the planning process was great. Anne was quick to respond and offer helpful suggestions. The day went off without a hitch and we even had a few extra guests that came to the reception who previously rsvp'd no- yes, this can happen. Anne and staff made sure they felt welcome and even got out an additional table with place settings immediately. This was a really big deal to me because the room was already pretty full, but they went right to work on making sure we were accommodated. The food, decorations and all other details were great. As a mother, you worry about everything and this was our first daughter getting married. One other thing, we received raved reviews from our guests and the gals downstairs really were good to my guests. Everyone felt welcome. Thank you for making my daughter's day so special.

Absolutely gorgeous venue!!! We got married in September and it was perfect! The vineyard is stunning and the winery is classy. The vineyard has a beautiful open barn that overlooks the vines. The winery has this nice rustic/modern look about it. Honestly, I could never do the venue justice, this is a must see venue! It is simply gorgeous and affordable! Also the wine is really good and who doesn’t love wine?!
All the staff is friendly and helpful. We toured with Anne in September of 2016 and fell in love with everything. She was super knowledgeable, helpful and detail oriented. She was quick to get back to us on any questions we had and was very professional. We worked closely with Anne and she made sure our dream wedding came to life and everything went smoothly. We are still receiving compliments for having such a beautiful venue. We have even gone to the winery for a fun date night! We highly recommend Cannon River Winery for its beautiful scenery, great service and phenomenal wine!

Our wedding was at Cannon River Winery in September. The venue is phenomenal, plus it's so convenient to have the ceremony and reception locations so close. The ceremony sight is absolutely picturesque with the barn looking out over the vines into the valley. Not only are the views incredible, but there is also a consistent, pleasant breeze which makes it an enjoyable temperature on even the hottest of days. Plus, the natural beauty of the setting requires minimal added decor. Amanda, the ceremony site lead was excellent to work with. She is very professional and knowledgable of what's necessary for a successful event in the space. Our officiant even noted how impressed she was with the organization of our rehearsal and how smoothly everything moved along. The staff makes the logistics of getting in between the vineyard and event center a breeze with pre-arranged transportation, too. The reception venue is also stunning with its mix of rustic, modern industrial elements. Anne, the main coordinator, was also wonderful to work with ensuring all details leading up to and on the day of were executed flawlessly. All of the winery staff and bartenders were so helpful and professional, too. We received so many nice compliments on our venue as well, with a few guests saying it was one of the classiest, most well organized weddings they'd ever been to. We had so much fun, I thought we may have to start kicking people out because so many guests were still there at last call! I highly recommend the venue for its beautiful settings, wonderful MN wines and phenomenal event staff. Thanks again Amanda and Anne!

My husband and I got married in the Vineyard the last weekend of June when the vines were lush! It was a hot day and with being up on the hill the wind made the ceremony in the vineyard more enjoyable for everyone. We had our engagement pictures in the vineyard beginning of October- where the staff was very flexible to accommodate, working around our work schedule to find a time for pictures. The staff checked in with us multiple times during the planning process... including sending a bottle of wine with cannon river winery wine glasses! We used the barrel room for getting ready which was spacious and nice pictures were taken amongst all the barrels with my dress! The reception at the winery was flawless. Anne made sure everything ran smoothly. The bartenders were excellent. Our guests were very impressed and we heard only good things about the day!

We had our wedding reception at Cannon River Winery and it was great. The staff are awesome and very helpful. We worked with both Mary and Anne and both were great as we planned our wedding. The space is beautiful and we had so many guests comment on how much they loved the location. We are so glad that we had our reception here.

We had both our son and our daughter's wedding receptions at the Cannon Rivery Winery Event Center in 2015. This is an absolutely exceptional place to celebrate with friends and family. John and Maureen Maloney are truly committed to excellence in providing a 5 Star venue! Our children worked with Mary who accommodated them in every way possible and delivered on what she promised and our event was stress free! I recommend the Cannon River Winery Event Center, you will not be disappointed. We are thrilled to have this venue in our community.

Look no further for your venue. The outdoor setting up on a hill looking down into the valley is gorgeous. It has the barn roof for shelter but still the beauty of the outdoors as a backdrop. Your aisle to walk down is formed by grapevines in the vineyard. The event center for the reception has a perfect mix of rustic and modern in the heart of a cute little downtown area in Cannon Falls.

Mary, the coordinator is tremendous and she will bend over backwards to make your day perfect. She knows her stuff, is very experienced in the industry, and is on the ball. Our DJ ended up in the hospital the day of our wedding and she went to work to find us a new one the day of the wedding! Everything went smoothly and our guests were none the wiser of the change.

If you are a looking for a beautiful, unique, outdoor venue but want it for a fraction of the cost of the venues in the twin cities, drive just 30 min south of the suburbs to Cannon Falls and have a beautiful picturesque wedding at Cannon River Winery!

We had our wedding at the Cannon River Winery about a month ago and our guests are still raving about how beautiful everything was. Several of them said it is was the most gorgeous wedding setting they've seen. The vineyard is such a unique and naturally stunning ceremony space ... and I'd say the same about the Event Center. We loved that the ceremony space was outside, yet covered, so we didn't have to worry about the weather and having to move the ceremony inside the day of the wedding. We were also beyond impressed by the Event Manager, Mary Carlson. Words can't even describe how amazing and on top of everything she was ... including answering our million questions! She made planning a wedding super stress-free and easy.

TL;DR: The Vineyard is beautiful and you should book it immediately because it's going to become one of those places with a year-long waiting list. Mary and her staff are phenomenal and the Winery is a terrific space for a reception.
VINEYARD: We were supposed to be married in the Vineyard, but Mother Nature had other ideas. We were, however, able to have our rehearsal out there and it was gorgeous. They set up chairs both under the roof and also on the gentle slope behind the barn (sort of like stadium seating). The views all around are spectacular and I suspect the Vineyard will be one of those places you have to book a year in advance. It was so beautiful my groom and I went out there for pictures under the roof, despite the monsoon.
WINERY: Our reception was in town at the Winery, in the upstairs event space. The area is spacious and it has a hard-wood floor, so perfect for dancing. Elevators and handicapped bathrooms were great for our less-mobile guests. There were around 225 people in the room, but I never felt crowded.
BAR: Cannon River wine is quite tasty. Mary is also able to get virtually any beer and other kind of liquor you may want to serve, and they're set up to serve any combination of alcohols (eg, just wine and beer, or wine and cocktails, or whatever) in various amounts (bottles, kegs, barrels, etc.). They can also do signature cocktails, if that's your jam.
MARY AND THE STAFF: We'd work with Mary again in a heartbeat and her staff was phenomenal. We live out-of-state, so really depended on her to take care of business. Mary had our best interests at heart at all times and made it clear that she wanted our day to be perfect just as much as we did. And it was!
CONCLUSION: I'm serious about how beautiful the Vineyard is, and you should probably book it immediately. The Winery is a terrific reception space and Mary and her staff were sensational. I heartily recommend the Vineyard and Winery for your getting-married needs.

If i could give more than 5 stars I would!!! We just had our wedding reception at the Cannon River Winery and were more than impressed with the entire process leading up to and the actual evening of our event! The space is amazing and the staff is exceptional! Mary was so helpful with all my many questions in the days before the wedding! We were able to get in the day before to set up the event center...Mary also had a group helping to unpack brand new chairs hours before the big day, so that we could be the first event to use them! The day of our wedding reception was absolutely perfect! Everything was ran smooth and our guests were very impressed with the venue and the staff! Ian and Alison were awesome behind the bar and very accommodating to our guests! Thank yo so much Cannon River for making our day one to remember! I will definitely refer you to anyone looking for an amazing place to have a reception!

I'm getting married at Cannon River Winery this coming summer. While I haven't yet had my wedding, I can already say with great confidence that this venue is amazing! The ceremony site at their vineyards in absolutely gorgeous. As soon as I saw it, I knew I didn't need to look anywhere else. In addition to the outdoor ceremony site, the indoor event center for the reception is also just what I wanted. It has the rustic feel I was hoping for.

The staff has been wonderful to work with. Mary- the even coordinator- is always available to answer questions about anything from vendor recommendations, decor suggestions, and day-of logistics. She really knows her stuff. I really can't overstate how valuable this is when planning your wedding- you need someone at your venue who cares about your wedding as much as you do, and genuinely wants to help make your day perfect. It makes everything so much less stressful.

To top it all off, the pricing for this venue was way more reasonable than most venues in the Twin Cities.

Two things to note that may be issues for some people: They do limit catering to 4 of their preferred caterers. I didn't mind, because it meant less hassle with finding a caterer, but if you have a particular one in mind, you may not be able to use it with this venue. Second, the location does not offer many nearby accommodations for out of town guests-there's only one (kind of crummy) hotel in Cannon Falls. Definitely wasn't a deal breaker for me, but just something to consider.

Our experience at the Cannon River Winery was beyond amazing! We hired Anne as our day-of coordinator and it was one of the best decisions! She spent hours at each meeting with us planning, chatting about life, and tasting (and retasting) the wine. She know what works and what doesn't and helps keep your planning on track while giving you plenty of room for creativity. It was a such a relief to have our day in her hands and know that we could relax and enjoy it. She really does run a tight ship, which was so helpful with our giant wedding party (a bit like herding cats). Anne's team is fantastic as well - Marcie is one of the kindest people to work with and put me so at ease on the day of! The vineyard was gorgeous in early June, and everyone commented on how cool/unique of a ceremony location it was. The event center is perfectly elegant, vintage, and rustic all at once. Though we didn't pay for the clean up service, the staff was kind enough to pack up our desserts and decor at the end of the night so we didn't have to worry about it until the morning. This venue may not be your cheapest option out there, but every penny is worth it! Just a classy, beautiful place with many charming details. Highly recommend.

Hands down the most beautiful venue in MN. We lost count of how often we were asked on our wedding day how we found this place. The vineyard is absolutely stunning. The barn is the best of both worlds, providing both shade and breeze with an open frame so that you don’t lose that outside feel. The reception room above the winery is equally spectacular. Custom bar, old-school hardwood floors, it’s got it all. Both the vineyard and winery were virtual playgrounds for our photographers and videographers. The staff is great. We initially worked with Mary to set main details into place and cannot say enough nice things about her. She was awesome. Anne took over a few months before we got married, and was up at the reception on our day. She is coming into her own; don’t be afraid to ask her questions. Amanda ran our ceremony and was AMAZING. She exudes kindness, confidence, and competence, and there’s nothing more important on your wedding day. Tip: Rent a bus from Northfield Lines (by far the best value and there’s a winery discount—shout out to Gary!) to transport your wedding party to and from the vineyard. Prior to the ceremony, the staff will have you park it towards the back of the vineyard, hidden from guests. It was KEY to our hot day in June. It was a day we’ll never forget. Book this venue!!

We had our wedding ceremony in the vineyard and the reception in the Event Center. First, let me say it was incredibly beautiful. I think it is one of the most unique and picturesque ceremony venues you could find in MN, especially near the Twin Cities. I walked down the aisle between grape vines down to a barn frame with an beautiful view. We had nearly 150 guests for the ceremony. Two items to think about: there is no restroom at the ceremony site and you basically need to shuttle your guests if you have more than about 50. We still had about 20 cars parked and it wasn't an issue. We had our rehearsal in the vineyard the night before the wedding and the venue provides a ceremony coordinator. The reception venue is in downtown Cannon Falls. Mary is an excellent coordinator. The space is a great alternative to a barn wedding. It has wood floors, exposed wood beams, but best of all bathrooms and air conditioning (unlike other barn venues). The only complaint I have is that you need to get your alcohol through the venue, which is expected as it's a winery, but the beer especially was very expensive. Unfortunately, that is something that goes along with weddings, but it's hard to accept. You should consider adding $300 kegs of beer into your calculations when determining if you can afford this venue. That being said, it was otherwise a really great value for us. There are only four food vendors you may choose from, but we loved ours (Cannon River Catering) who provided exceptional value as well. We shuttled our guests from hotels in Red Wing to the ceremony, the reception, and back to hotels. The shuttles were worth the hassle so that our guests were safe, but beware that you need to intricately plan your schedule and the invitation wording. Mary was great at helping us with those details. I absolutely recommend this venue for both ceremonies and receptions. If I could go back in time, I would select the very same venue.

For years my girlfriend (now fiancee) wished that the Cannon River Winery would open an event space and as luck would have it just when we are about to set a wedding date, they opened an incredibly beautiful event space! We live in southern Minnesota and found this to be the only event space that fit our ideal wedding setting -- an accessible outdoor wedding location with a comfortable indoor reception location. Not only did this meet our ideal, it exceeded it! The vineyard is absolutely gorgeous -- rural, beautiful charm that makes it feel like you are transported out of southern Minnesota. And the event space is the perfect blend of sophisticated and comfortable.

The entire staff at the Cannon River Winery has been really wonderful to work with. Mary, the onsite event planner, has been planning weddings for years so she has a lot of knowledge and is willing to make suggestions to make your day run as smoothly as possible. The winery is slowly putting in some policies that might impact people who have specific ideas in mind for their wedding including working only with preferred caterers, serving only select beers, etc. I know they are making these decisions to hopefully mass appeal yet be easy for couples to work with . All wine served for your day will be made by the Cannon River Winery and that will be something memorable for you and your guests! We are really looking forward to our wedding day this August!

Being in the wedding business, I had expected a little more organization and back up planning. Communication was great until our day. Anne was prompt with emails and sending notices if we missed anything, and was cordial enough to let us drop off decorations the night before. Day of: I met Anne, her assistant and the General manager before I started getting ready and everything was going smoothly. We were told that Anne would be our 'Main contact' throughout the day and she would be there to help out with the ceremony. That changed, and the assistant was sent out to the vineyard with the GM. Due to being in the middle of harvest season, we knew that there may be a few workers out in the vineyard when we arrived at 2p.m. They did not leave until before the ceremony started. My brother had to ask the workers 2x to stop using the bobcat so we could have our first look and take family photos without it in the background. Busses: There is required bussing to the vineyard site due to limited parking. Cannon River has an "exclusive" bussing company they use.. We needed 3 buses- 1 from the hotel and 2 from the winery. At 2 p.m, before our first look (3 hours b4 the ceremony) the assistant notified my husband that one driver was sick and they could only get 2 buses and " It happens all the time and we just make it work". We were NOT refunded for this bus. If we would known earlier we could have secured another bus. One bus driver got LOST on the way out to the ceremony. The guests that were on the first round of buses were not notified that the ceremony would be starting 30minutes later due to a bus needing to pick up the rest of the guests. There is a charge for rehearsal, so all planning and timing needs to be done the day of. The wedding party is to walk through the vineyard rows as an aisle to the ceremony site. The GM and assistant were using texts to walk down the aisle which was delayed due to cell service. Reception -Great! Ryan- the head bartender was AWESOME!!

Beautiful place. However, we first came to the winery and it was chaotic. They said at first we could have any choice of caterer, then switched it to where we only had on choice which happened to be very expensive. The coordinator we worked with was very stubborn and seemed to try and work against us instead of trying to help make our day special.

We had the ceremony inside the winery and they would not let us set the chairs up like a usual ceremony and made everybody sit at their dinner spots. I was told that the staff wouldn't change it over for us, and our friends and family would not be allowed to help us change it over.

At our rehearsal, the coordinator had the wedding party walk down completely wrong and standing on the wrong sides. When the wedding party walked down at the actual ceremony, we were very surprised that we had to change places on the spot and our families were seated on the wrong sides. The officiant told us that she would have to talk to the event coordinator at the wedding to teach the correct way.

Another thing was in the bridal changing room, we were kicked out and told to have it all cleaned up by 3:00 which was when the ceremony started. We didn't have it cleaned out in time and were told right after the ceremony that we had to get that done immediately.

Lastly, our ceremony started at 3:00 and there was music downstairs playing until 4:00 that was loud enough to hear upstairs. When a groomsmen talked to the coordinator and told her that they should stop playing because we could hear them upstairs, she said no and that they are playing until 4:00. However, the music finally stopped at 3:00.
