I worked with Alex to pick out my dress and veil and has the best experience. She was attentive and went above and beyond to make sure I found the perfect dress for my day. When I went in to pick up my gown and veil (at two different times), she greeted me by name and was extremely personable. I tried on several dresses before my appointment at Calvet Couture. There were aspects of dresses that I liked but none of them felt like "the one." When I described that I was looking a simple, romantic A-line dress for my September garden wedding, Emily pulled the Rose gown, a dress designed exclusively for Calvet Couture by Penelope & Lex. She helped me envision a few customizations (omitted the sleeves and added a liner to the sheer bodice) and I knew it was exactly what I had been looking for! -

The Perfect Dress!
I purchased my dress and veil from Calvet for my wedding last month. Dress shopping can certainly be an overwhelming process but my stylist at Calvet made it so easy! I did go in with a dress that I wanted to try that I saw on their instagram (and it is actually the dress I ended up purchasing) but they encouraged me to try on a few different styles and honestly it just reinforced that I knew I found the perfect one. I never once felt pressured to make a decision and they really take the time to help you find your style. Everyone was so sweet and I didn't even think twice when I needed to pick my veil. I went back to Calvet and they helped me put together the most stunning cathedral veil. Everything came together perfect on the big day! -

I bought my dress in November 2019, it came in the day Orange County was shutting down because of COVID. When I emailed the shop to see if I could drive by to pick it up, they were extremely accommodating and when I picked up my dress I cried! I later scheduled a fitting/accessory appointment with them when they opened back up. The whole process with Calvet was amazing and I would recommend to everyone. My Jenny Yoo gown was absolutely perfect! -

Calvet Couture was our one-stop-shop - dress, veil, accessories, everything you could possibly need for your perfect wedding day! We worked with Alexandra at Calvet, and she made sure that I tried on gowns that I loved and others that I hadn't considered (I chose one of her recommendations that I wouldn't have considered myself!). I was dreading beginning the search for my wedding dress as I admittedly am not the kind of girl who has been dreaming of her wedding and "the perfect dress" all my life. I stumbled on Calvet Couture in Ponte Vedra only after searching bridal boutiques close by. I didn't know what kind of dress I wanted, what would look good, etc until I walked into the shop and was immediately comforted by the attentive customer service; both Alex, the owner of the shop, and Dana made me feel like I had all the time in the world, offered champagne, and demonstrated their expertise in understanding what dress would be perfect for me when I hadn't a clue. I visited one other shop that day after having the "this is the dress" feeling at Calvet and couldn't get passed what a beautiful dress and wonderful experience I'd had. For anyone who is unsure of where to start in their dress shopping adventure, you'd be a fool to not start at Calvet Couture! -

Becca was my consultant and she was AMAZING, she helped me pick out and try on some truly incredible dresses, most importantly she had ample knowledge of all of their dresses and designers. The selection of dress styles by so many wonderful designers really made the process of selecting my dress one for the books. I ended up saying yes to my dream dress that day and Becca paired it with a beautiful veil, the dress and veil together was enough to make my mom and grandma cry! -

Oh my GOSH, Calvet Couture in Sarasota was the wedding dress shopping experience I always wanted! Erica was incredible. Professional, honest, sweet - she kept the experience fun, uplifting, and calm! She has a great eye for detail as well, and is wonderfully flexible. I had tried on dresses at numerous very famous shops in NYC and KC MO, and thought I'd never find "the one". I walked past Calvet Couture while visiting my mother, and popped in on a whim. Erica attended to me right away even while juggling other client-brides in the store! We quickly made an appointment for the next day. I felt she was a little nervous about me being picky when she heard how many dresses I'd already tried on, but she was always always optimistic and kind. And most important, NOT PUSHY! Needless to say, I found a STUNNER. All the gowns I tried on were different, unique, and oh-so-gorgeous! In fact, I enjoyed so many of them, I had a hard time choosing! Erica was always responsive on the phone, email or via text, and it really was such a smooth experience. HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND! -

In September, I proposed to my fiancee. The following weekend, she and her mother visited Calvet Couture Bridal to look at wedding dresses. There were positive reviews on Instagram, and it seemed like a classy, respectable business with a great selection of dresses. My fiancee and her mother had a pleasant first visit. My fiancee tried on several dresses, and one of the employees offered champagne.
The 1st issue we had with the business was in the discrepancy between what was told to us at the actual store, and what was said to us afterwards. For example, we agreed upon a payment plan for the dress. Upon making the first down-payment, the employee said that they would place the order for the dress right away. The following month, when I called them in order to pay for the second portion, they told me that they were waiting on me to pay the 2nd payment before ordering the dress. This was a direct contradiction from what was communicated to us in person at the store. My fiancee spoke to the employee, and the employee implied that we were lying and that we misunderstood. Either way, I made the second payment, and that was that. I was told that the last payment only needed to be made when the dress arrived.
In January, my fiancee called to see the status of the dress. They told her that the dress wouldn't arrive until early February, and that they would call her once the dress came in. Today, on February 12, pushing the midpoint of the month, my fiancee called the business, only to find out that they have had the dress since January 31st, and there was not a single call or email notifying us of this important fact. So, my fiancee went to the store to talk to them directly, and she mentioned that she was troubled by all of the miscommunication issues we have had since the fall. The older woman associate did not seem to care one bit and offered no apology on behalf of herself or the wider business. The associate said, "Let me get the dress, since it did come in last month."
The moment the woman opened the bag, my fiancee immediately knew that Calvet Couture ordered the dress in the wrong color. The color that my fiancee ordered was white. The dress that came out of the bag was blush. My fiancee said "This is the wrong color," and the woman associate said she would go in the back and check the order. Apparently, there was "nothing notated" that it was ordered in white, even though we did order the dress, in white. The associate said she would call someone, and we assume she was calling the employee who ordered the dress back in the fall. She asked the coworker if the dress came in white, and then the associate got off the phone and told my fiancee that the dress is "not made in all-white." The associate goes on to say "Well the dress will look all-white in the photos", and my fiancee argued with her, reminding her that she ordered the dress in white, and was told it comes in all-white. Never was there any indication otherwise. The associate then offered a few suggestions: first, she told my fiancee that the all-white dress came with a shorter train and it had no beading on it. My fiancee told her that particular dress was not what she wanted, and it was not what she ordered, either. The associate suggested that my fiancee didn't even know what kind of dress she ordered. She then said that the blush fabric could be removed and replaced with the white fabric so that it is an all-white dress. "I can set an appointment with the seamstress to have the correct fabric hemmed into the dress." However, she told my fiancee that they would cover for the replacing of the fabric, but that my fiancee was responsible for paying for the alterations. My fiancee then asked for a refund, and the associate said they can’t offer one because we signed a contract. Except, here’s the thing— we didn’t. And our binder proved us right. Then she tried to guilt her into keeping the dress, saying that they would have a dress on their hands. Awful -

Calvet has a great selection of gowns that I could not find anywhere else when bridal dress shopping. My appointment was wonderful! However, according to my measurements the consultant had me size up in my dress which changed the entire gown. They then sent me to a seamstress who stated she had never worked with this type of gown before. She basically ended up taking it in an entire size which could have been avoided. Not to mention the cost of having this done. I even called to verify sizing up was necessary and still regret doing so. If you second guess the sizing recommendation, I would definitely get a second opinion. Also, my Mother and I went in on a whim while we were in town (we live over an hour away) since they had just moved locations to look at the new boutique and their accessories (after we had purchased my gown from them). The two women working were unfortunately very rude to us. The store did not have any other customers or appointments at the time. -

Runaway, Bride
Run, don't walk away from Calvet Couture. Save yourself the headache of incompetence and lack of accountability. Receiving your wedding dress should be a joyous occasion, but not when you are measured wrong and promised something different than what you've received. Here is my daughter's story. She found her dress at Calvet Couture. It was hard to completely visualize how the dress would look as the sample dresses did not fit properly. The concern was what the line of the dress would look like on her back; what would and wouldn't be exposed. The consultant held the dress on her back to show her how the line of the dress would be if the dress was the proper size. This reassured her there would be enough coverage. She was also concerned about the plunging neck line. She was told for an up charge the deep "V" could be brought up and this would look much better if done in manufacturing than in alterations. This was a lie and a waste of $200. Based on the information the consultant told us, we proceeded with the purchase. The consultant measured my daughter March 18, 2023. We were told the dress would arrive late July for her November destination wedding. On September 13th my daughter received an email the dress was in. She picked up the dress and was horrified as to how it fit. The dress completely exposed her back. The back was supposed to have a V-line to it, from the shoulder meeting at the zipper at the waist line. The sales associate held the sample on my daughter's back, showing a line from her shoulder to the zipper, but the problem was the sales associate measured my daughter incorrectly, by 3.5 inches! Because the dress was small, the dress pulled forward and the back was more of a "U" than a "V". During this 'crisis' moment, we found out Calvet Couture does not have in-house seamstresses. We were given a list of 7 seamstresses, some of which were in Venice, my daughter lives in Parrish. We made the decision to go to Something Blue in Bradenton. The neckline still plunged far too deep for our liking. It still needed to be taken up. When we told the seamstress what the consultant said about it looking better if the manufacturer did it, she said that was completely false. She added stitching to close up the "V", of course at an additional cost. The $200 we paid Calvet for this was a complete waste. We paid this in good faith, trusting them. Because of them, we essentially paid for this work to be done twice. Once the neckline was raised, you wouldn't know this was not done at the manufacturer, so DO NOT believe them when they try to bilk you out of the extra $200. Now the back was a different issue. The owner of Something Blue measure my daughter and found the error in the measurements. My daughter lost 20 pounds from the time of the dress purchase to that point. When that was brought up to Calvet, they actually tried to say that because my daughter lost weight, her measurements increased. Anyone with 2 connecting brain cells knows you get smaller when you lose weight, not bigger. We trusted the consultant knew what she was doing when she measured my daughter. She alone is responsible for the dress being too small. The creativity of the seamstresses of Something Blue saved the day. They took the extra fabric from the bows and used it to create an illusion back. It recreated the actual line the dress should have been. If you look at the final pictures of the back of the dress, you can see the area they added does not have the liner, but it looks like the dress was manufactured that way! They also replaced the clear netting in the "V"s on the side under her under her arm. Not only did this help the back look like it was made that way, it allowed for them to increase the size of the "V"s allowing the bodice of the dress to become bigger. Pure genius on their part.
I reached out to Calvet for them to own their mistake. I asked for a reimbursement of the $428 we were out because of their consultants misleading statements and mismeasurement. When given the opportunity to right the wrong they made, they didn't even have the courtesy to answer my email. I followed up with a call almost 2 weeks later. I was told they didn't mismeasure her, just given excuses. I asked for 15% of the purchase price as compensation for what we were out. We all know their profit margin is far greater than that. They could have done the right thing and refunded the up charge for closing the "V" and they could have reimbursed my daughter the alteration charge incurred for their mis-measurement. They chose not to. They chose greed over doing the right thing. I would never do business with someone like that and I hope you learn from our experience and run away. -

I have been dreading writing this review because I have never actually written a bad review before, but I felt that the women considering buying a wedding dress from Calvet Couture should know and learn from my experience.
The experience when you go in to look or purchase a dress is very pleasant, once they make the sale, it is absolutely terrible. I have never experienced such terrible customer service and it is something you should never have to deal with as a bride with 1000 other things going on.
When my dress came in I went to pick it up and it was so tight that they could not get it up and we had to fight to zipper it. I could not breathe and could not walk correctly. The girl helping me was not the girl that sold me the dress. When I asked her what we should do because it is too tight she said "well you signed the contract so we can't do anything." I saved for months to buy my dress and that really broke my heart that they could care less that it clearly did not fit. (I have always been between a size 2-4 and actually lost weight in the time that they ordered my dress.) They were insistent on ordering me a 0 according to my measurements for that designer and assured me that it could be let out in the thigh area where I measured bigger. I of course trusted them because they are supposed to be the experts.
I called for 3 weeks trying to get the girl that sold me my dress (Emily) on the phone and she said that since I took the dress there is nothing they can do (the first girl told me I had to take it from the store), but Emily assured me that it could be taken out up to a size 4 in that area. So I altered it and still, it was too small.
We tried again to get Emily on the phone, spoke with other people such as Frances who made my mom cry on the phone because she was so nasty about the situation. Never once did the owner of the store reach out to see if there was anything that could be done even though I emailed her and called the store many times.
They only offered me fabric to try making the dress bigger once I contacted the designer. The designer's office also wondered why Calvet did not just order my a 0 in the top and a 2 or 4 on the bottom if I had measured that way since that is something the designer could have done. Or why they did not just send it back since they would have taken it if it was not altered.
At the end of the day, they offered no help, dodged my calls, and were flat out rude and stuck up. No apology, nothing. Just defensive from the start. They only offered after I called the designer when it was WAY too late and show zero dignity or compassion in the work that they do.
They had the audacity to blame my seamstress when this whole problem could have been resolved right when I picked up my dress in the first place. I could go on and on about the series of events that happened to lead me to writing such a review, but I honestly just want other brides to know so that this does not happen to them.
I wish I read the reviews because there are so many other women that said the same thing about Calvet; they make the sale, then do. not. care. about. you.
There are so many shops out there that care about the customer and in this day and age that is what makes the difference. If I could go back in time I would go any of the other 100+ stores in the Orlando area and would never want anyone to go through what I did. If everything goes perfectly, great. If it doesn't, you are 100% on your own resulting in so much extra stress and money. Do not buy your dress from here.
