Delicious with out breaking the bank

Calumet is a staple in the community and anyone who has been there knows why. After going to this bakery for a consult the decision was made. They were so affordable and what most bakeries charge extra for is included here. They had lots of flavors to choose from and even gave us samples to take home so we could take time to make the right flavor decisions. They also were able to deliver on a non-delivery day. The cake was so good that we didn't even get any to take home. Also no need to freeze it, call them before your anniversary and they will give you a complimentary top tier.

We got a tier cake and four sheet cakes. They even offered a cake for our one year so we don’t have to preserve the cake. Highly recommend

Delicious cakes at an affordable rate!

We received a ton of compliments on how delicious our wedding cake was thanks to Calumet Bakery. We opted to do one small cake that we could cut & have for pictures and purchased a sheet cake to be sliced for guests to enjoy. A much more affordable option and allows your guests to have a cake with buttercream frosting which is much more yummy than fondant. We went with a marble cake and strawberry filling, yum! They also provided some complimentary donuts for our catering team which I thought was a very thoughtful gesture. Affordable prices compared to the city and delivered to the West Loop of Chicago with no issues. Highly recommend!

We used Calumet Bakery for both our wedding shower in March of 2017 and wedding on 4/22/17. We had a tres leches cake for the shower and a marble cake with cannoli filling for the wedding. BEST CAKES EVER! Many of our guests are still talking about how much they loved them. Their cakes are delicious and the prices and quality of service make everything even better! Everything in their bakery is tasty and our family uses Calumet Bakery for many of our special occasions. Worth every penny!

The wedding coordinator did an awesome job assisting us with cake selection, frosting selection and the tastings were out of this world. The have amazing payment options and are very efficient. I wouldn't trust any other bakery for my pastry needs.

I would recommend taking someone with you to try all of the cakes. This is very overwhelming when you go by yourself! I would have something in mind so it doesn't take forever to go through every picture that they have. The cake turns out absolutely amazing! I had so many compliments on the cake! Everyone wanted to know where I got it from!!!

Calumet Bakery is one my family and I have used many times in the past and knew they would be the ones to make the wedding cake, and we were not disappointed. The cake was gorgeous and perfect for the venue we had! Four days later people are still raving about how moist and delicious the cake was and I won't even get started on the sweets table. There was dessert for days and it was all perfect!

My family has been getting cakes from Calumet Bakery for as long as I can remember, so of course my husband and I had to get our wedding cake from them. Everything about the cake was perfect. We ordered a 4-tier strawberry shortcake and neapolitan cake with minimal decorations. Even though it had a simple design, it was absolute stunning... and of course it tasted delicious! They also provide you with a one year anniversary cake, which is simply amazing!

My Wedding cake was beautiful and very delicious.It was a 3 tier purple and white cake with the purple fountain underneath with bridesmaids and groomsmen coming down the stairs. AWESOME..They delivered and setup my cake on time at the my venue. We just received our free anniversary cake and it was just as delicious as our wedding cake. We enjoy all of their baked good, it's soo good. We would recommend them to our family and friends.

Melisa of Calumet Bakery is awesome!! She is very warm, inviting and patient. She knows when to sit and listen and when to offer suggestions. The cake was excellent. Moist and beautifully decorated. I also love that they are a full service bakery with a wide variety of options and reasonable prices.

I plan to make many more purchases from Calumet Bakery.

I cannot begin to say enough nice things about this bakery. From the initial consult to the final product this bakery was FANTASTIC. They provided us with a grooms cake and a sweet table for our wedding. I knew going into the process that their products were absolutely delicious and I was not surprised when I received several compliments from our guests. The entire process was easy and Calumet bakery was very responsive to our needs.

I would recommend this bakery to everyone!

Calumet Bakery created our wedding cake exactly how we wanted it. The cake was so delicious we had trouble choosing just two flavors. We ended up choosing half lemon and half strawberry shortcake. The cake was delivered exactly on time. No issues. Great value as well. Plus, we get a fresh cake at our one-year anniversary!

This bakery was a recommendation by friends and it turned out to be the best decision I could make. Not sure about anyone else out there, but I have not been very fond of the taste of most wedding cakes. This was exceptional to say the very least. Cost, quality and service, we had it all. I sent a pictue and their replication was just amazing. Actually better than the picture. Bottom layer was chocolate mousse with a rasberry filling and top layer was lemon torte. Nothing but compliments from all Calumet Bakery!

Absolutely outstanding! We brought in a picture of how we wanted the cake to look and then went over the details of the cake and when we were finished with everything we were so excited for the day. When the day came we were blown away on how beautiful the cake was. We ordered the Grooms case from there also which was a big hit. Being from an Italian family no wedding is complete without a sweets table also and all of the the goodies come from here also. They were great with everything and we will definately be getting more cakes from there!

Calumet Bakery did a wonderful job on my wedding cake. I went to the Lansing location with my now-husband, my sister, and my mom to do a cake tasting about 2 months before my wedding. Our consultant was very friendly and knowledgeable; she was the one who would actually do our cake. She brought us several samples, and they were all absolutely delicious – the chocolate with mocha filling was what we eventually decided upon, though everything else was wonderful too (especially the red velvet!). I brought in a picture to show what I generally wanted for my cake, and it turns out they had a picture in one of their catalogs of what I wanted (a 3-tiered, round cake with cherry blossom branches). Our consultant gave us various options based on how many guests we thought we would have. Once we were finished, all we had to do was pay a deposit on the way out and bring in a swatch of the color for the outside of the cake. The cake turned out so much more beautiful than I even imagined! It was delivered to my reception site before I even got there, so there was no stress in wondering where my cake was. It tasted amazing, and my guests really enjoyed it. I would highly recommend Calumet Bakery for any couple looking for a bakery to do their wedding cake.

Our wedding cake tasted as good as it looked!
Calumet Bakery was actually less expensive then the other bakeries I researched but you would never know it from how great the cake was!
During our "tasting", (which is FABULOUS!!), Melissa let us taste any flavor cake they offered and even brought us out drinks during the tasting. I chose my cake flavors and then later changed my mind about them. I called back and they were so nice about altering my order--no hassle at all!
This bakery is very professional and a great value!

The cake we got was absolutely delicious and beautiful!! We had people comment on it at the wedding. It looked just like the picture we gave her. And the price was amazing. I had received a 10% off coupon from them at bridal show they were in. But even without the coupon, the price was very reasonable. Definitely recommend them!!

We get all our cakes from calumet bakery so we were not surprised at how great our wedding cake was. I ordered my baby shower cake from them and then my son's first birthday cake as well. They were flexible with the delivery time and delivered our wedding cake for free. We had a 3 tier white wedding cake lined with a rhinestone band on each tier, with a few simple purple and Tiffany blue flowers! We did strawberry half without. It was exactly how I wanted!!! Our cake served around 125+ people not including our top tier. They also offer a free 1 year anniversary cake!

The cake was beautiful! Everyone enjoyed how beautiful it was and the flavors. The tasting process was also great and so much fun. The only complaint I have is that the front of the cake looked like it was meant to face the back. The topper was placed on the side where the pearls ended and the lace trim opening was visible.

Cake tasting

Went in doe the tasting Melissa was very knowledgeable and drew up our designs as we were talking. She showed us alot of options and gave us several price points. The strawberry shortcake was my favorite. We tried several cakes and cupcakes. The hospitality is great and the willingness to work with our price point was awesome!

We actually didn't have a wedding cake made by Calumet Bakery, but we did have a wonderful selection of cookies. If you need cookies for your sweets table our guests were raving about the variety we had at our wedding. So delicious!!!

My wedding cake was delicious! They were able to make my cake exactly like the picture I brought in. I only wish I had cake left because after the reception not one piece was left!

We ordered our cake and had a few specifications.. we wanted a fake cake. We shopped around for different pricing and they were the best. We were even told by another bakery "we can't touch that price" after telling them what our previous quote was. I gave them a picture of the cake we had wanted and they made our top tier real so we had something to cut at the reception. The cake was almost perfect, there was one thing i wasn't happy with but I honestly don't know if I had mentioned it to them or not. Over all it was still a beautiful cake and very very tasty!

My wedding was on 8/13/17. My cake was delicious . Got so many compliments on my cake it was delicious. My cake arrived on time and my venue. The only issue that I had was that they changed one of my cake flavors without consulting with me . I was suppose to have chocolate cake on my top tier and they gave me a yellow cake with vanilla frosting. But besides that I will still recommend this bakery for good tasty and moist cakes. My guest wanted 2-3 extra pieces .

They were awesome! We scheduled the tasting and went in with a few ideas in mind, they were very helpful and made recommendations based on our ideas. They have quite a few books you can use for inspiration and they even gave us a discount and free delivery because of our reception venue (Fiesta Palace). Great experience!

Our wedding cake turned out beautiful! The cake tasting was an exciting experience and we were able to receive a rough sketch from the cake artist on the spot. It came out better than we imagined. It was also delicious. We had 3 flavors: red velvet, chocolate and banana. Our guests raved about the red velvet.

I was very happy with our wedding cake. I found a fairly simple design that I liked (three tiered square cake with ribbon and a bow on each layer and neutral dots as an accent). Calumet bakery was very flexible and willing to recreate the design. My husband and I also wanted a variety of flavors, and they were happy to make each layer a different flavor. On the day of the wedding, we were very happy with the look and design of the cake, and got a ton of compliments on the taste. Overall, we had a great experience.

If you can do the cake tasting...definitely do. great sample of different combinations and all were delicious. our salesperson was so friendly and accommodating. we choose the first three we tasted. we brought a picture of what we wanted and it was duplicated perfectly...it was so beautiful I didn't want to cut it and soooo yummy.

The cake was beautiful and tasted wonderful. A little on the pricey side and one of the managers was a little coarse with us about some information we didnt know. Overall we were satisfied with the product and the service.

Great Cake

I'm just sad that I was only able to get 2 or 3 bites of the cake because it was delicious and we received several great compliments. The ordering process was easy--- I would definitely recommend!

Our wedding cake tasted great! I was a little disappointed that they did not get the correct color for the fresh flowers that were supposed to be arranged on our cake, however, I am not sure if this was their fault or if it was the florist's fault that the bakery used. We also got a grooms cake that looked great.

When I was looking for a bakery, I had so many people tell me how well-priced and delicious Calumet Bakery's wedding cake was. I decided to check them out for myself. I made an appointment and went in the following week (the appointment days were a little inconvenient, I must admit). I was greeted at the door and they told me I could sample three large slices of cake. It was TO DIE FOR. The cake was so moist and delicious! I tried a piece with fresh strawberries and was hooked.

When I came in for my appointment I brough with me a picture of a fancy "designer" cake from one of my bridal magazine that said it cost $900. Calumet Bakery made mine made for $250. Let me tell you, it looked better than the picture (and probably tasted better too!).

Calumet Bakery is definitely Indiana/Illinois best kept secret. It is truly the best bakery in the area.

They were very accommodating in making my wedding cheesecake how I wanted it. Some of the best cheesecake I've had in a while! I had so many compliments on it. I would give Calumet Bakery a 5 star rating except they did not deliver all of my cheesecakes at once as scheduled. They forgot 1 cheesecake at the bakery so they dropped off 4 cheesecakes and went back for the 5th one which delayed my schedule. Also, they did not put flowers on the 5th cheesecake so it looked a bit strange. A little more attention to detail and an apology would have gone a long way for me.

End result was good but frustrating up to that point.

Service was rushed and unfriendly. They do not always write everything down so ask for and keep your receipts even if you are dropping something off to them. (Lost $100 because we didn't)

In time past i've used this bakery, but I was extremely disappointed with the cake that was presented for my wedding. At the tasting the cake was excellent, but the actual reception cake was absolutely horrible. The look of the cake was beautiful. The taste however was a different story. When I informed management of the situation, they were not apologetic nor were they willing to compensate.

We ordered our cake MONTHS in advance. A simple three level, red velvet cake with flowers provided by our florist. Everything was great on our wedding day EXCEPT for the cake. The original cake they sent had the wrong flowers (we had pink, white, grey and coral flowers) and they had ROBIN BLUE flowers on it. Thankfully our wedding coordinator called our florist and made a last minute fix!! PLUS when we cut into the cake for the cake cutting part of the reception, it was LEMON CAKE (We ordered Red Velvet). To make matters worse we found some flower sticky tape within the cake itself. Just an absolute failure on their part. I will say this, the owner was very upset and sorry for the mishap and gave us our money back. However as a service this was just AWFUL!

The consultation seemed to be a really great experience, and their cake was amazing. When we went in to make our final deposit, they couldn't find our order just weeks before our wedding. Luckily the person just transposed the date and it was fixed. On my wedding day, I received a call saying that there was an issue with the frosting creating a "residue" down the cake and wanted to know if I could come in and see what I thought. When I said I couldn't come in because I am on my way to my wedding I got a giant OOOOHHHH. They said I could call back and let them know what I wanted to do but my cake wasn't ready. No one answered the phone the roughly 20x I called back. Luckily, I got my money back, and reimbursed for the cakes I got from my local grocery store (imagine the blank floral cakes that are just waiting for "Happy Birthday Grandma" to be iced on). Unfortunately, we have heard from others that we weren't the first forgotten cake. A coworker's baby shower cake also fell victim of the forgotten cakes of Calumet Bakery.
