    Rustic dream

The venue was perfect for a small gathering with our 20 guest. It can hold a max of 70 people comfortably. It was so beautiful in the fall for our rustic wedding!

    Beautiful venue

We had a beautiful outdoor ceremony and reception on the patio. Our guests all really loved the venue. It was a little tight with 65 people, but we loved having the versatility of the yard, the patio, and indoors. Staff was friendly and helpful and very flexible with changing our hours. Couldn’t have made a better choice!

Cabell's Mill was the absolute perfect venue for our wedding! We had a very small ceremony held on the back veranda and the reception was inside. We only had 30 guests so it was truly perfect.

Zane and the staff were very friendly and easy to work with. Thanks!

Cabell's Mill is a beautiful venue. I got married there at the end of October and the fall colors were stunning! I was very lucky to be able to have an outdoor wedding. We had our ceremony on the stone patio. The venue is a little small (probably best for 75 people, we had about 90) but it is quite charming. You have to make an appointment in order to see the inside since the Mill isn't generally open to the public, but the Historic Properties and Rental Services department of Fairfax County was responsive to my inquires and everything went smoothly on the day. There are some excellent photo opportunities around the grounds and across the road by the pond. This is a great venue for an outdoor wedding.

Charming venue, our wedding pictures are so beautiful! It's a big challenge for a crowd more than 60, since you have to split the reception between inside and outside. But the place is of great value, and the view is breathtaking! Zane, the contact person for the venue, responds email on time and is very professional.

We held our very small family-only wedding at Cabell's Mill in November and it was the perfect venue for the size of our wedding. We held both the ceremony and the small cake and drinks reception in the building and we had more than enough space. I wish the chairs had been a little nicer, though!

I loved having my wedding ceremony and reception at Cabell's Mill! We were so lucky and had a beautiful day in early October. The weather was sunny and 75 degrees with the leaves beginning to change. My husband and I chose Cabell's Mill because it was close to our house and we love hiking and the outdoors. It was perfect for our personality. It was also a lot cheaper then other venues. You are able to pick all your vendors and provide your own alcohol which saves a lot of money. There are tons of great places to take photos too. It's great to have the option of both indoor and outdoor for guests when the weather permits which it did for ours!

The only downside is the regulations that they have regarding set-up and tear-down. They require everything to be put up and taken down the same day which can result in extra charges from vendors to work after hours. However, they will make some exceptions if you ask. I had a lot of questions and was emailing them a lot. They were very prompt in responding. I worked with Zane a lot and he was great.

A perfect place for a small, intimate wedding. My fiance and I have a lot of memories in Centreville. Naturally, we wanted to get married there too! Cabell's Mill has the perfect backdrop with it's historical setting and scenery. Everyone of our guests were amazed at how beautiful everything was. The staff is very helpful and responsive before and during my rental. I highly suggest having your wedding here!

Cabell's Mill was the perfect venue for our 45 guest wedding. We used the outdoor space for the ceremony and the inside (upper floor) for the reception. Everyone commented on how beautiful the setting was, and it made a great backdrop for photos as well.
Be aware that it can be hard to reach people, i.e. they are not in the office on Mondays.
The reason I can't give this a five star rating is that the Airco broke down the day of our wedding, which was in August, so the place was really, really hot. Bummer because we'd booked that venue for the reason it is airconditioned. We did get a full refund and they installed fans all over the place.
All in all, we were more than happy with the venue and I'd highly recommend it.

We were married here in June, with hopes of having an outdoor ceremony and reception. This place is BEAUTIFUL at any time of year and the setting is what makes it so special (read: INCREDIBLE photo ops outside). The mill is small and would be ideal for a wedding with less than 75 people. However, we had 100 and managed well with the (mandatory) tent outside.

The only reason we're giving a 4-star rating is because it is somewhat of a hassle to coordinate with the managing company and your vendors for site visits. Don't get me wrong: the managing company (Historic Properties Rental Service) is very responsive to emails. However, they only have someone on site 1-2 times a week (generally before a rental, so you will only be allowed in the building for about an hour), so you have to plan well in advance. I found it easiest to ask them what days/times Cabell's Mill would be open, then ask the vendor if they would be available at that time.

But affordable and WELL WORTH IT! Added bonus: we can stop by whenever we want for picnics and could eventually take our children here, too!

    A dream venue

Cabell's Mill is a dream venue if you are looking for something rustic/romantic. However, it's very limited when it comes to times. They are very particular about certain things. On the other hand, you get to bring your own caterer and you can buy the booze , so that's a plus!

Cabell's Mill is a gorgeous site for a small wedding. It is very affordable, though a little difficult with regard to setup and teardown, as that likely needs to take place on the same day, unless you are lucky and are able to get a rehearsal time the night before (this is only the case if the mill is not booked by anyone else on the previous day by 21 days before the wedding). Though I didn't see the inside myself, my mother in law scheduled an appointment and toured it for us, and said it was very beautiful inside as well. Zane has been very professional and responsive to all of our emails and questions. Though its a little extra work to schedule a wedding here, I do feel we are getting a good deal on the space, and especially with the ability to choose our own vendors and purchase our own alcohol to be served at the wedding. I am so looking forward to our wedding on this gorgeous property!

Cabell's Mill was our venue for our early June wedding. We were at the high end of the capacity with over 100 guests, I think fewer guests would be ideal, especially if you want to be able to fit everyone in one area for seating. Note that the main inside room is upstairs, whereas the patio, bathrooms, and buffet table are on the lower level, which made it a bit difficult to corral everyone for toasts, etc, but it worked out for the most part.We tented a large portion of the patio (using Capital Party Rental) in case of rain and it worked out fine. The venue comes with 80 chairs and many tables, so that is a big help, but you will need to hire someone to set them up (caterers usually do this). There is a pantry area with a sink, but no ice machine or kitchen, so keep that in mind for catering purposes. We hired the red zebra to do appetizers and wood fired pizzas off their truck and it worked out perfectly. We hired Soda Yoda to deliver ice and coolers. Everyone we worked with was very pleasant, but keep in mind this is a county facility so it is not quick turnaround. They mostly show the venue early on days of rented events on weekends. The most challenging aspect was getting set up. We rented 2 extra hours for set up, but it was a crunch because that didn't leave much time to get ready after dropping off all the stuff. We weren't able to use the storage shed as another party had used it. You are not allowed to attach anything to the walls so best to keep it simple anyway. This venue is so much cheaper than most others I feel like it is a good value and we saved money, but maybe not as much as I expected once you add in all the additional vendors we needed to use. I will say it was a lot of work to coordinate everything, my friends were saying I had to do a lot of things myself that were part of the package of their more expensive venues, so be prepared to roll up your sleeves. Loved the natural setting and beauty, lots of photo ops!

This place is under rated! The setting is very beautiful. We had our ceremony outside and reception indoors. Zane helped us with all of our questions and explained everything well via email. The only downside is that the bathroom is on the 2nd level so its a little difficult for elderly ppl to go to the bathroom. The staff was always on time when we needed a space for a vendor to come do a walk through.

This place really provided an excellent setting for our outdoor ceremony and indoor/outdoor reception. We only had about 80 people, and going much higher than that might be tough logistically. Our ceremony was in a field under a beautiful oak tree, and our dinner was on the stone patio. The whole area around the Mill is absolutely gorgeous for photos!

If you're looking for a quaint, outdoor setting for a small to medium-sized wedding, this is a great venue. And if you're a Fairfax County resident, it's such a bargain!

I would really recommend that you DO NOT hold your wedding at Cabell's Mill. We had our wedding planned for the day after a big storm. Cabell's mill let us know at 1:30pm on the same day of the wedding( which was at 6pm) that they had no power and in fact had lost power the previous evening. I know there were issues with the phones but for heavens sake have a backup generator or drive out to warn us. They had our address and we lived close by. They did nothing to assist and when we asked to borrow their chairs and tables they charged us $800 for renting them when they had virtually destroyed our wedding. They were completely unapologetic and in fact pointed out that we would have had difficulty renting them on the day which apparently gave them license to charge us more than the market value. There is no doubt that things can go wrong even in the best planned events. My advise is to book your wedding at a venue you can trust who will work with you when things go wrong because the strangest things can happen even for the best planned events. Shame on Cabell's Mill for trying to profit out of a very difficult day and never once trying to be helpful!
