Buttercream cakes are delicious and beautiful, which is pretty much all you can ask for from a wedding cake. Buttercream throws in a lot of neat perks too. For instance, you can have as many tastings as you want (to a reasonable limit), and they'll also give you a one-year anniversary cake for free so you don't have to save and eat yucky year-old cake from your wedding on your anniversary. They might be pricey, but not unreasonable by any means from what we found comparing to other local bakeries. We enjoyed our wedding cake very much and would gladly recommend Buttercream to anyone. -

We ordered both a 3 tier cake and a groom's cake and both turned out exactly as we wanted! Everyone raved about how amazing the cake tasted and how light the frosting was. -

Nina was absolutely amazing! She can work with anyone! I completely forgot details for our cake and she was spot on and did a fabulous job!!! Our guests loved the Baileys chocolate cake!!! It was absolutely fantastic!! We will definitely be going back :-) -

I'm still getting compliments on our cake a full week after the wedding! They couldn't have made the entire process an easier one. Their cakes are to die for and everyone we worked with was incredibly friendly. Cake was delivered right on time, looked absolutely beautiful, and tasted even better than it looked. -

Buttercream is Delicious! When we did our tasting, my husband said it was the best cake he had ever tasted! We order a small Amaretto cake and 4 different flavors of cupcakes for our guests. All our guests’ kept telling us how amazing they tasted.
I also ordered a custom German Chocolate Groom’s Cake. I sent over a picture of the design and the baker worked closely with me to ensure it was perfect. It was the perfect complement to our amazing wedding cake. I highly recommend Buttercream!

The cake was absolutely delicious! I will definitely be ordering more cakes from them in the future. We ordered the marble with the strawberry a la ritz cream filling. It was amazing! We did a taste testing about 9 months before the wedding but I think the cake was even more delicious at the wedding. -

I got married last week (March 29, 2014)! A cake from Buttercream was part of the package we had with the U of M Landscape Arboretum. We met with them at the Minnetonka location and it was hard to decide on flavors, since they were all so amazing! We were very impressed with the fact that Buttercream takes the quality of their cakes so seriously - no fondant. Our cake turned out absolutely stunning - it was EXACTLY what I had imagined and had described to them! I am so pleased with the result! I would recommend Buttercream to anyone. They have a location in St. Paul as well, I believe. -

Buttercream in Minnetonka were amazing to work with. They were professional and even delivered our cake 2 hours away for us so we didn't have to worry about the transport. The cake was delicious and I loved that it was all natural (no artificial dyes/coloring). -

If I could eat this cake everyday I would! I have had Buttercream wedding cakes before at other weddings and they did not disappoint at my own. The cake is so moist and delicious and the frosting is out of this world! You can't go wrong with this place. -

We initially chose Buttercream for our wedding cake vendor because they were the preferred vendor for our venue. After the experience at our tasting, not only due to the quality of the product, but also for the incredible service, I would go with them again in a heartbeat! They have such a beautiful assortment of cakes and the flavors are better than anything I have ever had. They were great about showing us different styles, talking through flavors and decorations that we could add to our cake and helped us to land on the one that would be perfect for us. They coordinated everything with our venue and the cake was everything we hoped it would be on the day of our wedding. Our guests raved about the "tempting turtle torte" cake and the strawberry lemon was a great light white cake. Buttercream only uses fresh fruit filling and you can definitely tell. No preservatives and the fresh, light cake is to die for. I cannot imagine anyone being disappointed in a wedding cake from Buttercream. -

Great tasting cake, everything is natural and they don't do cakes with fondant which tastes horrible. They had actual raspberries in our filling! They have numerous designs, and are very reasonably priced compared to competitors. They deliver and set up for a small fee which is so worth it, they did a gorgeous job setting the cake out, arranging fabric ver the stand and adding on flowers from the florist. They call to confirm everything two weeks before the wedding. Great experience and they give you a new replica of your to layer on your 1 year anniversary for free as a thank you, much better than eating 1 year old cake! Also saves you money cause the cake you get for the wedding the whole thing can be served to guests versus buying more ate to have a layer saved for your 1 year anniversary! -

Best wedding cake ever! We tried multiple cake places and they had not only the best flavors but also the most beautiful cakes! The cake tasted awesome and even froze well so we could enjoy it after our honeymoon. They were always helpful with all of my questions and nailed my personalized design. They were even able to replicate the lace from my dress onto the cake.
They don't make you freeze your cake topper for the traditional first anniversary cake eating. They give you a brand new cake for your first anniversary which allows you to enjoy a much better tasting cake than the frozen one. -

Rather than flowers, I carried a vintage brooch bouquet that I had made myself. I wanted the cake to reflect that brooch theme, but I don't have a very creative mind. I provided some large silk flowers and four vintage brooches to Buttercream, thinking they would just "waterfall" them down the front of the cake. The team at Buttercream deconstructed the silks and used the brooches as flower centers. The result was colorful, elegant, and better than anything I could have ever imagined. And the cake itself was the most delicious cake I had ever tasted. From my initial meeting at Buttercream until the last piece of cake was eaten, I couldn't have imagined a smoother process in getting a lovely and delicious centerpiece for the wedding! -

Buttercream and Renee helped create an amazing cake, both in look and taste!! We met with her twice and each time she was detail orientated and created a comfortable feeling. WOW! I absolutely loved the cupcakes we got from Buttercream! We went with a small cake for the wedding party and family and then got cupcakes for our guests. we were told we could have 4 flavors with our cake package (we weren't expecting that and were so pumped) and could barely decide. All of the flavors are so great. They're fresh and light and...mmmmmm! The cupcakes were HUGE and our guests were so excited about them. I absolutely LOVED the cake and the service. We will send everyone we know to Buttercream...AND continue to work with them in the years to come. -

The wedding cake and the dessert station they put together for my daughter's wedding reception was beyond delicious. The cake melted in your mouth, the whoopie pies were outstanding, the fruit tarts were very colorful and the taste was fresh and delcious and the Raspberry Shooters were fabulous. So many of the guests were complimenting us on how fabulous the dessert station was and how the cake was the 'best' cake they had ever had...ever! I agreed - I am planning on ordering a cake from them soon for a birthday event and can't wait! I do alot of homemade baking myself, but the Amaretto Mouse cake we had at the wedding was by far the most delicious cake I have ever had...hats off to Buttercream! I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone who is looking for that special cake! -

We live in Minnesota and were married in NH. Originally we had a NH baker that was going to make our cake, but then circumstances changed and we needed to find another. We wanted to be able to taste our cake before the wedding and so we went to Buttercream, one of the only places willing to meet with us on a Sunday. We met with the owner and sampled amazing cakes. There were only 2 that we didn't like - one was too rich for my palate and the other - well, we just don't like coconut. There were so many options though - which was great.
Once we settled on the flavors we wanted - s'mores and vanilla/strawberry/lemon - we broke the news that we'd need the cake in NH. I don't even think he blinked. He explained how he would recommend packing it and included it in the quote. Our cake fed 125 people and traveled to NH successfully - all for under $600! Everyone raved about the taste and I can't wait for our 1 year to get our cake top!

My husband and I did not have our hearts set on a wedding cake. We wanted some type of dessert, but didn't know exactly what we wanted. When we had our tasting at the reception venue, there was a wedding cake made by Buttercream. It not only looked amazing, but it was delicious! We made an appointment with Greg at Buttercream on a weeknight to try different cakes. Based on our our wants and needs, we decided to do mini dessert parfaits. If you've never seen them, picture a piece of cake in a cup that looks fantastic and tastes even better than it looks! Our guests LOVED them. We put them on a cupcake tree so they look super cute on display...and guests can serve themselves. It's awesome because it allows everyone to mingle as they taste a delicious dessert by Buttercream. I highly recommend Buttercream for any dessert you may need - whether it be weddings, holidays, birthdays or you just want a delicous treat for your family. :=) -

Many thanks to Buttercream for such amazing service, they were incredibly easy and nice to work with. Very impressed with the variety of flavors at our cake tasting. We decided to have centerpiece cakes at each table and loved that we could offer our guests so many different flavors to choose from...they were all so delicious! These cakes are seriously the best cakes we've ever had. Our guests are still raving about their incredible flavor. Loved that they don't use fondant, loved that they don't freeze their cakes, loved that they don't use artificial coloring...loved everything! These cakes are AMAZING!! We had a 4 tier cake with Neapolitan and baileys chocolate flavors. We had guests stopping us on the dance floor to tell us how wonderful the cake was. It tastes so fresh and light, they even gave us a second sample tray for us to bring home at our taste testing because we were joking about wanting more!!! We could not have asked for a better cake. -

Buttercream was fun and has beautiful and delicious cakes! We throughly enjoyed our cake tasting. I love that we were able to choose different flavors for different layers allowing both my groom and I to choose our favorites. The artist who drew our thoughts for our cake was great. When we first saw our cake at the reception I was blown away, it was perfect! One thing to note that I was unaware of: if you don't buy your cake topper from Buttercream they do not place it on the cake, it is then your caterer's job. Just something to note. -

I don't normally like cake but Buttercream Cakes are awesome. we tried numerous places and every place that we tried we left feeling very sick, not Buttercream. I have also been to many weddings were they ended up with tons of left over cake. they made our cake the exact way that we wanted it to look and we only had maybe 5 to 6 pcs of cake left after the wedding. We are also please with the fact that next year on our anniversary they will make us a fresh duplicate of our cake top. I would tell everyone I know looking for a wedding cake to go with Buttercream. -

Buttercream was amazing. When you go in for your tasting they give you about 5 or 6 flavors to taste (they have at least 30 different flavors). My fiance and I went through the flavor sheet and had wanted to try a couple of more. We called and Buttercream let us pick an extra six to try/taste on the day of our tasting. All of the flavors are the same cost per slice, which was nice, because it didn't force you to just go with vanilla or chocolate to save money, you could pick raspberry royale (delicious, don't forget to try this one), turtle, strawberry trifle, etc...
I had my heart set on a four tier cake (even though a three tier would be more than enough), when I requested a four tier the person doing our tasting very politely told me that three would be enough (trying to make sure we didn't order more than we needed so we could save money), but didn't scoff and said nothing else about it when I said I liked the look of the four tiers better.
About a week before our wedding we called to change around the layers/which type we had at each layer and they had no problems with that.
Everyone loved our cake (no stiff/sugary frosting for buttercream)! The finished look of the product was exactly what we had described and the taste of it on the day of was amazing!
Would definitly recomment Buttercream to all brides still looking for a bakery. -

We tasted the Strawberry a la Ritz and it was delicious at the tasting but at the reception it was absolutely incredible. Buttercream's cakes are simply devine. I am not a huge cake fan, I'd much rather a cookie or a brownie ... but I LOVE Buttercream cakes. We had the Bailey's Irish Creme and the Lemon Sunshine and both were perfect. Everybody loved that there was a choice of chocolate and white cake. The gentleman we met with was wonderful and really understood what we were trying to describe in relation to the actual design of our cake. He drew it up as we were talking and added his professional opinion, which I'm so happy we took! The cake looked amazing and managed to taste even better. I loved that they had worked with our venue, they had an account with them, so we got a discount plus, they knew exactly who they needed to work with there. On our 1 year anniversary we had them make a replica of our top tier, again, they were a delight to work with and the cake still tasted as wonderful as we remembered. I always recommend Buttercream to friends and family! -

I came across this website while searching for some information for my best friend's wedding and HAD to write a review about Buttercream. Buttercream has the best cakes hands down. All the weddings I've been to lately get those dried out sugary fake tasting cheap cakes. Not only does Buttercream use fresh products, their presentation is beautiful. If you want a fresh and light tasting cake, try the strawberry, it's the best. I got married a few years ago and I still hear about how great our cake tasted... which you hardly ever hear about most wedding cakes. Their buttercream frosting is so smooth and light and their fillings are made with fresh fruits etc. I had a 3 tiered square cake with brown and pink ribbon at the base of each tier. There were also swaravski crystal flowers (each one about the size of a dime) placed all over the cake, then topped it off with a simple bow on the top with the ribbon used for the bases. Their staff was so helpful in picking the right cake for us and making sure we were always on the same page. I never once felt unsure about anything. If you want to make sure you have the best wedding cake around, go to Buttercream Bakery. I have recommended them to several friends and family members and they all have said it's the best cake they have ever tasted! -

It's been almost three months since our wedding and our guests continue to comment on our wedding cake! It was a beautiful cake. Their Connecticut carrot cake has to be one of the best cakes I have tasted. The Bailey's chocolate was also very yummy! We had a great experience with the staff. Very helpful and polite. I don't think many guests expect much of a wedding cake other than it looking good, but we should have had a cake twice as big, b/c people were snarfing it up. It was elegant - way beyond my expectations. Altho it was a simple design and execution, it was done perfectly. They're very easy to work with and really have the process down to an art/science. There was not one hitch in the scheduling. We were slightly worried about the sheer number of cakes they produce - how would ours be 'special' among so many others, but they knocked it out of the park. So many people have told is it was the best cake (not just wedding cake) they'd ever tasted! Great value for a premium product. Yum! -

This place was awesome. The initial cake tasting was a bit awkward, because the guy working there seemed to assume that we were just there to taste the cake and weren't actually going to work with them. But, they know what they're doing! They don't use any fondant, which I think is a definite perk. And even though they don't, the cake still looked like it had fondant covering. I had people looking at my photos ask if it was, but they're talented people over at Buttercream! I also really like the fact that they sell a one-year cake topper for your anniversary (only $17), so you don't have to do fruitcake and don't have to worry about freezing it. They keep your records so all you have to do is call them up and they can give you a cake just the same as you had on your wedding day! -

Buttercream was A+ = we contracted with them via Bellagala and I must admit at first it seemed rather expensive... but it was worth it! I have never, ever heard about a wedding cake over one month after the wedding!
Working with them was very easy, confirming details before I needed to call them... everything was first rate!

We had a great experience with Buttercream. We had a tasting 8 months before the wedding, and it was great. I called a month before the wedding just to confirm they still had the order, then they called two weeks before to confirm the number of people they needed to serve. The cake turned out absolutely gorgeous, and tasted better than I recalled from the tasting. One thing I also enjoyed was that instead of keeping the top tier of the cake to freeze (which honestly never turns out well, or tastes well a year later), they gave us a coupon to get a small cake to order on our anniversary. -

Buttercream was the perfect Wedding cake vendor. We could not have been happier with their consultations, follow up procedures and the final product. All of our guests enjoyed the cakes. We had a dessert reception that included only Buttercream cakes of all different flavors. All of our guests raved about the cake. We would use Buttercream again for any occasion! -

Oh my god, Buttercream is absolutely phenomenal! We went for a cake tasting, fell in love with the buttercream frosting and with the variety and choice of flavors, and nearly fell over when we saw the price - hundreds LESS than we thought it would be. They worked with us to create a custom design that matched our wedding. The staff even remembered me every time I called back. There is no doubt that they would be my top vendor recommendation. -

Outstanding service and product! We had cupcakes for our wedding and these weren't your ordinary cupcakes, these were like 3 cupcakes put together and oh so yummy! We were able to have an assortment of carrot cake w/ cream cheese frosting, chocolate cake w/ bailey's irish cream frosting and a white cake with strawberry frosting. They were so scrumptuous!!! We also had a small 6 inch cake on top of the stand for our cake topper and it couldn't have looked more beautiful! It was the Lemon flavored one...my mouth is watering just thinking about it! -

Loved the cake!! We brought in a picture and they duplicated it! We asked them to add fresh fruit to our cake, and it was delicious. The cake was probably my favorite part of the reception. Beautiful. We at first thought they were very expensive but after looking around, it was worth it. The price fit how great the cake was, and the venue use them so we did not have to pay a cutting fee. -

We got so many compliments on the cake it was unbelievable! We transported 19 cakes for 4 hours to the North Shore of Lake Superior (they were "freeze blasted") and they kept WONDERFULLY! We ordered the fillings of bailey's irish cream, raspberry cream, and almond praline... everybody RAVED about them and went back for seconds!
The tasting was really helpful, and they were very flexible, and the cost was very reasonable too. The frosting was light, not thick and heavy. It was DELICIOUS! -

We used Lancer as our catering service, so Buttercream came with them. Their price per slice of cake was over-priced, and if we didn't go with them, we still had to pay $1 per slice, plus the cost of the other cake. So, it was easier to go with them, and I am glad we did. The cake looked and tasted AWESOME. We had a chocolate cake, and even people who don't like chocolate LOVED it. We have heard so many guests rave about our cake! BEST CAKE EVER! It's worth EVERY penny you pay for it. -

We had our wedding in November and the zoo was running a special so we got our cake for free. We got to try all kinds of cake and they let us pick more than one flavor to put in our cake. We gave them a picture of how we wanted it decorated and they did a great job. -

Please don't buy a cake with something other than butter cream frosting. The cake was so good, and you get a free cake at your one year anniversary. -
