Buena Vista Carneros Winery makes for a beautiful ceremony & reception venue. We were looking for something rustic yet elegant, and we found exactly what we were looking for with Buena Vista.
While we had a couple of bumps throughout our process, they did their best to keep us informed of all changes that were being made along the way. The biggest of these was with staff- their wedding/events coordinator left to become a full time wedding planner halfway through our engagement, and we subsequently went through an interim coordinator, a newly hired coordinator, and another interim person after the new coordinator was let go only 2 weeks before our wedding! Albeit, that coordinator deserved to be let go as she didn't have a clue what she was doing. We were MUCH happier with the interim person who did ultimately handle our wedding. Thanks Janet! You put us totally at ease!
They also were kind enough to give us the tree lights along the walkway for free, given all the changes that we had been subjected to. However, I'd suggest that this just be a standard. They usually charge $500 for the installation and tear down of lights in the trees (the lights are optional), however throughout MANY visits to the site in the year that we were booked there, we never saw the lights taken down. If there must be a fee at all, maybe just charge $50-100 for maintenance of the lights. $500 seems high for lights that are seemingly always up.
Their staff on our wedding day were helpful and courteous. Their site fees are extremely fair. You do have to use their wine only, which is somewhat pricey. However, if you sign up for a club membership that discount helps with the cost and the amount of wine you need for your reception also more than fulfills your club requirements. Two birds, one stone! Plus, because you're using their wine there are no corkage fees. So, in the end, unless you're using $2 Chuck from Trader Joes, its actually cheaper to get their wine than it is to buy decent wine plus pay corkage somewhere else.
In the end, our wedding was gorgeous and went off without a hitch. We were very happy with our overall experience, and have received comments from many of our guests about how our wedding was one of the best and most beautiful they'd ever been to. We couldn't ask for more.
